Chapter 10 Hostile Surroundings
A.N. – Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate at this time of the year! My present: this chapter. This one is in the Amazon. Just like last time, this is the last time we go to the Amazon. Let's begin!
James Marshall – I don't recognize the story. My policy is I only read completed stories and ones I find interesting. The reason behind this is I found some really creative stories left unfinished. So, if it is uncompleted or the plot is missing from the front page, I probably never read it. Or if it is in the K rating as I have never read any of them either. For help, I would say just scan all stories and find it.
Short Summary – The Lyoko Spies travel to the Amazon to rescue the last scientists and find the location of the primary lab. But before they find it, they need brave the hostile ecosystem of the Amazon.
Disclaimer – I do not own Code Lyoko. I am just a fan of the show.
The Lyoko Spies were now in the Siberian airport that would take them to Brazil, where they would get a private plane to parachute into the Amazon. Their mission was nearly complete. But their thoughts revolve around who or what they'll find at the primary lab once the coordinates are complete.
They board the plane and once they take off, they take a short nap before reaching Brazil. Once they land, they all stay at a hotel for the night. The following morning, they discuss where to go and how to do this. Aelita activates the map from here gadget.
"Amazon rainforest," Aelita says, and the map of the whole rainforest comes up. "The Amazon River is right here and according to the information the lab is North of the river."
"So, we parachute in over the river, then head North and eventually we'll find the lab" Ulrich says, pointing to the points on the map.
"Exactly," Aelita closes the map, and they head out. "Let's check-out and head to the airport."
The Lyoko Spies returned their hotel card and paid for the night and then headed out to the airport to meet up with the pilot and plane Agent Chris set up for them.
Line Break
The Lyoko spies headed out onto the hanger where their plane was stationed and met up with their pilot. "Are you the four Chris told me about?"
"I guess we are. How do you know Chris?" Yumi asks.
"He did me a few favors back in the day when he worked for the French government."
"Such as?" Ulrich asks.
"Got me out of prison." The Lyoko Spies all had shocked looks on their face. "It's not what you think. Apparently, I flew over a restricted area and when I landed a bunch of federal agents arrested me on the spot."
"They didn't tell you to reverse course?" Aelita questions.
"My radio was turned off. My mistake and never will make that again. Now, where are we headed?"
"Over the Amazon River. We'll parachute from there."
They all strap in and the plane takes off. Within an hour they were over the Amazon River. The Lyoko Spies all equipped their parachutes. Aelita gave them something. "Take these locators! They will allow us to reunite once we land!"
The door opened and they all looked down, except Ulrich. Yumi looked to him. "Ulrich, if it helps you, close your eyes and just jump."
Ulrich exhales. "I hope that works. I hate my vertigo."
"You'll be fine." Yumi kisses him before they prepare to jump.
"Good luck. Tell Agent Chris I said hi" the pilot said, and they all jumped.
Aelita jumped first and she had perfect formation. Odd jumped next and screamed his normal 'Bonzai' phrase as he fell. Yumi jumped next and the same formation as Aelita. Ulrich exhaled one more time, closed his eyes and jumped as well. He felt the wind push against him as he fell at incredible speeds. He eventually opened his eyes, and they all pulled their cords and slowed their descent.
"See Ulrich, I told you it would be fine."
Ulrich nodded and soon they all landed. Luckily for them they all didn't land too far away from each other and were able to reconnect quickly. The next step was to find the lab.
The Lyoko Spies traversed through the rainforest and Ulrich led the way slicing through the vines. Ulrich eventually cut a vine and heard a screech.
"Was that an animal?" Ulrich asked.
A vine suddenly came behind Ulrich. "Ulrich, watch out!" Yumi exclaimed and the vine grabbed Ulrich and dragged him. He grabbed a branch and the vine tugged harder. Suddenly, Yumi's fan came in and sliced his leg free. The vine retreated. "Hands off!"
"Thanks, Yumi."
"Anything for you."
"Anyone mind explaining what the hell that was?!" Odd asks.
"My guess is that the supercomputer has enabled the ecosystem to flourish, thus creating a hostile environment" Aelita responds.
"Meaning?" Ulrich asks next.
"Everything around us is non-hostile, but it means that if we disturb the ecosystem, it could turn hostile towards us. Simply, watch your step and don't hurt any of the plants or flora."
The Lyoko Spies continued and moved very carefully. They passed by many plants and flora that seemed to come to life. It almost seems unnatural. Yumi was looking around and had flashbacks.
Yumi was running through the forest after receiving a call that Xana has launched an attack. She suddenly comes to find moving vines. She runs away in a different direction.
After some time, the vines catch and start to move up her abdomen to her face. Eventually, the vines start to drag her away. She catches a branch, but the vines are still able to drag her down to where a bunch of vines are.
Yumi shivered in fear and though those types of attacks were behind them.
"You okay Yumi?" Ulrich asked her.
"Yeah, I was just having a flashback of that day that Xana controlled the vines" Yumi responded.
"Only difference is, this time they won't attack if we don't provoke them."
The Lyoko Spies were getting close to the lab, but they suddenly heard movement in the trees above them. They all suddenly freeze. Suddenly a gorilla came down with an angry expression on its face. Ulrich drew his second sword.
"No, don't kill it!" Aelita yelled at him.
"Do we have another choice?" Ulrich retorted.
"Yeah, run!" They took off as the gorilla slammed down its fist. The thing growled and took off after them. Aelita turned around and fired and orb. "Energy field!" The gorilla sparked but was knocked out.
"I thought you said not to kill it?"
"I didn't. I just stunned him long enough for us to get out of here."
They all got out of there before the gorilla had the chance to wake up.
"What was the deal with the gorilla?" Odd asks.
"Seems like the supercomputer is also disturbing the animals as well."
"Only gives us more reasons to help save this environment" Yumi adds.
Suddenly, a jaguar jumped out in front of them with a look to kill.
"Any ideas with a raging jaguar?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah, permission to kill" Aelita says.
Ulrich drew his saber and lunged towards the jaguar. The jaguar jumped at him and knocked him down. He then scratched Ulrich chest, causing him to scream in pain. The jaguar was about to deliver the final blow, when Yumi threw her fans, getting the jaguar's attention. Ulrich then used his sword to stab the beast, effectively killing it.
"That was already an interesting welcome party."
Ulrich's chest was already bleeding a lot. Yumi grabbed some leaves from the nearby trees and used some vines to tie around Ulrich's chest.
"That should stop the bleeding for now" Yumi said.
"Yeah, but I need some medical attention for this."
"If we complete the mission fast enough, we can get back to Brazil by nightfall and get stitched up" Aelita said.
The Lyoko Spies continued their trek through the rainforest and soon Odd was wrapped around by a snake.
"Hey guys, help!" Odd screamed.
Ulrich took out his saber and soon the snake wrapped around him too. Yumi tried next and the snake was wrapped around her.
"Aelita, you're the only one who can save us!" Yumi cried.
Aelita then grabbed Ulrich's saber. She locked her eyes with the snake. The snake lunged at her. She dodged, and quickly cut the snake head from it, killing it, but releasing the hold it had on everybody else.
"What kind of horrible creature was that?" Odd asks.
"The green anaconda. One of the biggest snakes only indigenous to rainforests. It can grow over 30 feet in length and have 12-inch diameter, making it able to wrap you up and still attack me."
The Lyoko Spies soon found a clearing and saw a laboratory in the distance. They all went to the entrance, and Aelita noticed something glowing on the side of the building.
"Hold on," Aelita said. She went to investigate the object. "Is that a…bomb?"
"Then that means this place is rigged to blow" Ulrich says.
"Seems like whoever is behind this is determined to make sure we don't find the location of the primary lab."
In the primary lab, the main villain was watching them.
"Or maybe, this is a very cleverly disguised trap that you will walk into. You're in MY world now!"
A.N. – This is a little short, but I ran out of ideas for things that they could encounter in the Amazon. Next time, the final research lab before they go after the primary one.
