Disclaimer: All original characters do not belong to me, as much as I would love them to! However, the witty banter and snarky remarks, absolutely do!
Blair scoffed as she turned around and raised her eyebrows at Vanessa. Sure the statement affected her, but it wasn't like she was going to let Brooklyn bitch know it. "And you would be the authority on the subject, wouldn't you, Vanessa," making even her name sound like an insult, "Will this be the second time Humphrey has left you for Serena or the third? Don't tell me you haven't noticed his lingering stares focused at Serena, all while he's supposed to be in love with you, his best friend," she added with an exaggerated roll of her eyes.
She looked around to make sure whether or not the look of pity was in any of their eyes. Chuck walked towards her and muttered, Waldorf, and tried to usher her out. He wasn't an idiot, he knew her the best. The hurt that she was feeling must definitely be evident to him. Even the Brooklynites knew what had happened in her life.
However she might have been able to keep it in if it weren't for Vanessa's next statement, "At least Dan came back to me. Nate left you and didn't look back, did he? You moved on with the biggest, self-proclaimed whore in Manhattan. But you couldn't even hold his attention for more than a few weeks. Even your own mom prefers Serena more than she ever did you. There really must be something wrong with you then, don't you think? You have no one, you are pathetically alone. Your mommy, daddy, best friend, boyfriend and now Chuck Bass, all left you, leaving behind only poor, rich, lonely Blair Waldorf. Now you and your attention seeking bulimia can suffer alone."
"At least I won't be left to suffer in the dregs of Brooklyn," Blair shouted loudly, losing all sense of composure as she stormed out of there and screamed back, " I'LL ALWAYS HAVE DOROTA!"
Chuck Bass had never looked that murderous in his whole life. The evil glint in his usually aloof hazel eyes was terrifying. The mere thought of Blair relapsing because of this vile creature brought the bitter taste of bile into his mouth. In fact, the other two members of the NJBC and Eric all looked pissed at Vanessa. Even Dan looked appalled by her behavior and he always believed they were on a higher moral ground than the rest of them. After all, all the Brooklynites had their 'holier than thou' attitude, which only realistically ever fooled themselves. Jenny was the only little roach who was trying to contain her pride at Vanessa's lengthy rant. Serena looked ready to start a catfight with her for humiliating her best friend and causing her to run away. She'd seen Blair at her worst and she couldn't afford to let that happen again.
Chuck contemplated going after Blair, but as Serena ran out of the tent shouting her name, he turned towards Vanessa with a mad look in his eyes. As he slowly advanced towards her, Vanessa couldn't help but take a step back. Dan rushed to Vanessa's aid but was promptly restrained by Nate. "You," he barked, "Who are you? No one knows where you fell from, no one apart from Humphrey gives a damn. Why are you even here? You bitch and whine about not liking us and our entitled behavior, but no one asked for you or your opinion. No one likes seeing you around or hearing your voice. But by some stroke of luck we're stuck with you here. So for the rest of this trip, I would advise you to shut the fuck up or the other option won't be as nice. Just remember, my speed dial consists of a PI, a hitman and Blair; I wouldn't advise you to go up against any of them."
By the end of Chuck's speech, everyone was silent but for different reasons. Eric and Nate were in awe, Dan was speechless and Jenny was cowering behind Dan. Vanessa looked positively scared shitless. She was flitting her head from side to side as if someone was going to pop out of the bush and kidnap her in broad daylight. Her hippie shirt had a hole in it with her incessant fingering after that terrifying speech. She didn't have the guts to look Chuck in the eyes as she turned her wide brown eyes to Dan.
She burned a hole in Chuck's shirt as she muttered, "It wasn't my fault. She-" This time Nate had to physically restrain Chuck from pouncing on her, morals be damned! "Vanessa, I think it would be better if you left the room for a while," commented Nate in a semi-soothing voice, "Chuck, man, you and I will go find Serena and Blair. There's no point getting any more involved in this, it will just cause trouble." Chuck nodded and turned to leave, but not before shooting another withering glare at the 3 brooklynites, saving a little extra venom for Vanessa. Poor Eric just stood there not knowing what to do with this scene unfolding in front of him.
Chuck and Nate started trekking through the dense forest trying to look for the two girls. It was quite a task to accomplish since their phones weren't getting any reception, and as magnetic as Chuck and Blair were, unfortunately, telepathy wasn't in even their capabilities. After wandering around the place for sometime, Chuck's keen ear caught someone spewing some very loud and creative profanities. That could only mean one person!
Nate looked relieved that they could finally end this 'Blair hunt'.
The two boys rushed towards the sound, as they caught sight of Blair and Serena standing at the edge of the lake and Blair's eyes and nose red, with her face slowly turning redder and redder and all her sadness was channeled into anger. Whatever Serena said to her really must have done wonders.
Chuck couldn't help but resent the fact that he wasn't the one to bring her out of her sad stupor. Selfish as it may sound, he wanted to be the one she could lean on and rely on when she was sad. As if she suddenly felt his presence, her head whipped around to look directly at him.
For once, he couldn't figure out what she was feeling at that particular moment, but he obviously knew that she was embarrassed after that outburst, and would most likely try to sweep it under the rug instead of actually talking about it. They were both very alike in that sense. They didn't like indulging in a pity party and attracting sorrowful looks from people, especially from those they considered vermin. They'd much rather scheme and plot their total destruction. It always gave both of them a sense of control and satisfaction, which they thrived on. "Blair, I'm so happy you're okay!" exclaimed the ever-oblivious Nate, breaking the very apparent tension in the room. Serena shot him a bright smile as she hugged Blair and whispered to her saying that she and Nate would leave and give them a moment alone. The two blonds started chattering away happily while leisurely holding hands and walking back, leaving behind two 'friends' who could barely keep the fire in both their eyes at bay
