Jane and Neville got off the train.

Tracey ran up to them, and she threw her arms around Jane

Jane flinched a bit, and then hugged her back. She did not like it when people hugged her without her permission, but Tracey was the only person who she would allow to do that. She smiled. Jane had been worried that her little sister would not remember her, but apparently, she shouldn't have been.

After putting Tracey to bed, Jane's mother sat her down. "Is there something you're not telling me," she asked?

Jane hesitated and nodded. She told her mother about the incident with the snake, at the dueling club, and how everybody had freaked out.

"Oh," she said. "At least you're not the only kid who can talk to snakes."

"Yeah, that is nice. It's just that people are still believing that the evil heir of Slytherin is at large."

It seemed really wrong not to tell her mother about students getting attacked, but Jane did not want to upset her, and she felt that Mrs. Longbottom did have a point.

Jane rushed up to the python encloser, at the zoo. "Mrs. Snake," she said, "I'm not the only kid at Hogwarts who can talk to snakes."

"Who else can," Mrs. Snake asked?

"His name is Harry Potter. He first talked to a snake in the zoo too. It's nice that I'm not the only one, but it's not all good…"
