The door to the captain's ready room chimed and Picard said, "Come."

Data entered; standing before the captain at his desk, he said, "I am here to apologize for critiquing your painting yesterday. I understand now that I may have upset you with my observations. When I spoke about the incident with Geordi, he said I was being rude." The android paused before adding, "That was not my intent."

Picard sighed. "Take a seat." The android did so and the captain templed his fingers thoughtfully before continuing. "I have to admit, I was angry in the moment. However, after talking with the Counselor, I came to the realization that... well, I'm so used to you being objective that it didn't occur to me that your critique could be purely subjective, whether you were aware of it or not."

Data frowned. "I do have an interest in art, sir, but I did not mean to seem that I was the ultimate authority on the matter."

"Apology accepted, Mr. Data."
