Porsha Crystal: Child Of The One True King

A.N. Recently, on New Years' Day to be specific, I went and saw Sing 2 at the movies, and not too long after, I got to thinking that I make the Sing franchise as one of my next targets for fanfics, and it didn't take too long to come up with some ideas, with this being the first one. I was gonna try and focus on categories I haven't written for in a while after completing my preceding story, "Christmas With The Wreckers", but I decided that could wait a little longer. After all, sometimes when you get a good idea, it's best to capture it while it's still pretty fresh. Needless to say, I really worked my butt off with this story, since it's apparent this is my first story of 2022. Well, I think I've babbled on long enough, so, let our story begin.

One night, Buster Moon's latest production, a science fiction-themed musical called "Out Of This World" had just ended, and he, along with his cast members, Johnny, Ash, Gunter, Rosita, Darius, and Porsha Crystal the daughter of Jimmy Crystal, a media mongul who was currently serving time in prison for attempting to kill Moon during the premier, along with Buster's assistant, an iguana known simply as "Miss Crawly", were riding the bus home to Calatonia.

"Another great performance of "Out Of This World"." said Buster. "Great job, everyone."

"Thanks, Buster." said Johnny.

Soon, the bus arrived at a bus station, and everyone disembarked and began making their seperate ways home.

"Get some rest, everyone!" Buster called.

But then, Buster noticed Porsha sitting on the bench, looking rather glum.

"You okay, Porsha?" Buster asked as he sat down next to her.

"I'm okay, I guess." Porsha sighed.

Buster knew right away what might be bothering Porsha.

"Still wrapping your head around what happened, huh?" he asked.

Porsha just nodded.

"I just don't understand why Daddy would do such a thing." she said. "I didn't even know he was capable of murder."

"Yeah, I understand how you might be feeling." Buster replied.

Buster then looked at his watch.

"It's getting late." he said. "I think it's time we went home and to bed."

With that said, Buster and Miss Crawly took Porsha to Moon Theater, which also some living spaces set up in the upper levels of the building for Buster and Miss Crawly to live. Porsha was also living there currently, as Buster had taken her in as a foster daughter. When they arrived, they went up to Buster's apartment.

"Good night, Miss Crawly!" Buster called.

"Good night, Mister Moon!" Miss Crawly replied.

Soon, Buster and Porsha arrived to Buster's apartment. Porsha had also moved into Buster's apartment as well, but while Buster had a normal bedroom, Porsha's "bedroom" was pretty much just a twin-size air mattress in the middle of the living room, but she didn't mind. Not too long after, the two were in their pajamas, and while Porsha brushed her teeth in the bathroom, Buster went to his bedroom, kneeled on the floor, clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and began reciting a prayer.

"Dear God, thank you for another successful performance." he prayed. "Thank you, Lord, for giving me such a wonder group of faithful actors and friends. I am so proud of each and every one of them. But you have a bigger role in our success then they do, God. I can never thank you enough for the success we've had together. Please grant us restful sleep tonight, and keep us ever mindful of the needs of others every day. In your Son's precious name, Amen."

But little did Buster know that Porsha had just come out of the bathroom, and had heard everything.

"Who's this "God" he was talking to?" she wondered.

Porsha decided she would ask Buster about it in the morning, which soon came. Porsha came into the kitchen as Buster was cooking breakfast.

"Morning, Porsha." Buster greeted. "Sleep well?"

"I think so." yawned Porsha.

"Well, I hope you're hungry." said Buster. "Because breakfast is just about ready. Are ham and cheese omlettes okay?"

"Oh, yes." nodded Porsha as she licked her lips.

Soon, breakfast was ready, and while the two were dining, Porsha decided to talk to Buster about what she heard last night.

"Hey, Buster, can I ask you something?" she asked.

"Of course, Porsha." Buster smiled. "What's on your mind?"

"Last night, I heard you talking out loud to someone." said Porsha. "Someone called "God". Do you know him?"

"Yes, actually." said Buster. "He's a good friend of mine."

"Can you tell me about him?" asked Porsha.

"Of course!" grinned Buster. "But first, let me ask you something now."

"Okay." said Porsha. "What is it?"

"Why are you asking me about this?" Buster asked. "Didn't your father tell you about this kind of stuff when you were little?"

"No, not really." said Porsha.

"Why not?" asked Buster.

"Because, when I was little, he never really made time to spend with me." Porsha replied. "He was almost always away on a business trip or otherwise too busy to spend time with me."

"Oh, dear." said Buster. "What about your mother?"

"Oh, yeah." said Porsha. "That was when she and Daddy were still married."

"What do you mean?" Buster continued.

"Well, some time ago, Daddy discovered Mom was having an affair with one of his employees and fired him." Porsha said. "And when Mom found out, she moved out, and Daddy cut off all contact with her. He doesn't even want me to talk to her."

Buster, needless to say, was annoyed when he heard all this.

"That's ridiculous." he said. "He should know better than to cut off your own mom like that! And, honestly, I can't believe he would neglect his own daughter!"

"And as a result of that, when I was in school, I was pretty much one of those kids who thought she was superior to all the other students, and even the teachers." Porsha went on. "Therefore, I didn't have a lot of friends."

"Oh, Porsha...I'm so sorry." said Buster. "But you know, there's actually one friend you don't know of that will always have time for you."

"Who?" asked Porsha.

"His name is "Jesus"." said Buster. "He's actually God's son."

"He is?" gasped Porsha. "Cool! When did you meet him? Did he invite you to his birthday party or something?"

"Ehhh...not exactly." said Buster.

"What do you mean?" asked Porsha.

"How about we take a walk?" replied Buster. "I want to show you something."

"Okay." nodded Porsha.

And so, after finishing their breakfast, Buster and Porsha began their walk, and eventually made it into the Calatonia City Park, and sat themselves down on a bench.

"Look around you, Porsha." he said. "What do you see?"

"Trees, grass, flowers, clouds, pretty much everything." said Porsha. "Nature is just so pretty."

"And do you know why it's pretty?" Buster asked. "It's because God made it."

"He did?" Porsha gasped. "I didn't know that!"

"And he also made the first people, too." said Buster. "Adam and Eve. In fact, long ago, there was this place called the Garden of Eden. It was a very beautiful place. Adam and Eve lived in harmony with all the animals there, and had everything they could need. However, there was one thing they weren't allowed to touch. See, there was this tree whose fruit God told them they weren't allowed to eat. One day, an evil figure known as Satan came up to Eve in the form of a snake and tempted her to eat the forbidden fruit, which she did, and she got Adam to eat it as well."

"I'll bet God wasn't too happy about that." said Porsha.

"You're right, he wasn't." replied Buster. "In fact, he kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden forever, and that's how sin entered the world. Then things started to get worse. But this was actually God's plan from the get-go."

"It was?" Porsha asked.

"Yes." nodded Buster. "It was God's plan to send Jesus to Earth."

"What happened next?" Porsha prodded.

"Well, eventually, Jesus did come to Earth." said Buster. "And he did lots of amazing miracles. He made the blind see, the lame walk, and he even raised a man named Lazarus from the dead."

Porsha was amazed.

"That's amazing!" she cried.

"And it gets even better." Buster went on. "One day, he was sentenced to die, because while lots of people grew to love him, there were others who wished to get rid of him, especially the leaders of the people, because they felt he was an imposter."

"An "imposter" of what?" asked Porsha.

"You see, Porsha, long before Jesus was born, it was prophesised that a Messiah would come and free them from the oppression of the Roman Empire." continued Buster. "They were expecting him to be a warrior or something like that, but instead, they got a miracle worker and a teacher. Some didn't even believe he was the Son of God."

"How did Jesus die?" asked Porsha.

"He was crucified." replied Buster. "He was nailed to a wooden cross with nails in his hands and his feet. But before that, he was whipped 39 times, and a crown of thorns was placed on his head."

Porsha covered her mouth in shock at this information.

"That sounds horrible!" she gasped. "But...I assume that was God's plan, too?"

"You assume correctly." nodded Buster. "See, when sin first entered the world, God made it so that anyone who disobey him would have to die, unless they repented and sacrificed a lamb in their own place. With Jesus, he was the lamb who was put to death for all our sins."

"So let me get this straight." said Porsha. "God allowed Jesus to be sacrificed so we wouldn't have to die for our sins ourselves?"

"Exactly." nodded Buster. "Of course, there is one catch to that. See, those who don't ask God to forgive their sins will die in their sins in a very terrible place called "Hell", which is a place of eternal pain and suffering. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about going there, because I invited Jesus to be my Saviour when I was ten years old."

"How do you do that?" asked Porsha.

"I just asked him." said Buster. "In fact, it says in the Bible that anyone who calls on Jesus' name shall be saved from the fires of Hell. And once you invite Jesus into your life, your life will be so much better than it ever has. He'll always be there for you when you need him, and he'll never forsake you. And here's the best part, when you die, you'll get to live with him forever in Heaven."

"Gee, I'm not sure." said Porsha. "What if I sin some more?"

"Porsha, there's nothing to worry about." Buster reassured. "Once you receive Jesus, he'll wash all your sins away, even the sins you committed in the past and the sins you might commit in the future."

"And all I have to do is ask?" Porsha asked.

"That's right!" grinned Buster. "So, what do you say, Porsha?"

Porsha thought about this for about a minute, then came up with her answer.

"Buster, I choose to accept Jesus." she then said.

"Good answer." nodded Buster. "There's no better time than now."

"So...how do I go about doing this?" asked Porsha. "Just ask, right?"

"Yep." replied Buster. "And you don't need to make it sound fancy. Just say it in your own words."

"Okay." nodded Porsha.

With that, Porsha rose from her seat, knelt on the groud, clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and recited a prayer that went like this:

Dear God, please forgive me for all my sins. I am very sorry for everything I have done that may not have made you happy. I don't want to die in my sins and go to Hell. I want to go to Heaven when I die and live with Jesus. I believe Jesus died for my sins long ago and want to make it official. So if you could save me, God, that would be great. Thank you. Amen.

Once Porsha finished her prayer, she sat back down with Buster.

"So, how do you feel?" asked Buster.

Porsha looked at Buster with tears of joy in her eyes.

"I feel like a huge heavy sack has been lifted off my back." she replied as she wiped her eyes. "Thank you, Buster."

"Don't thank me." said Buster. "Thank God. He's the one who saved you."

"Oh, okay." nodded Porsha. "Thank you, God."

But then, Porsha thought of something.

"But what about my Daddy?" she asked. "What will happen to him if he doesn't hear this good news?"

"Then I'm afraid he's lost." said Buster.

"Not if I have anything to say about it." decided Porsha. "I want to tell him myself."

"Good idea." said Buster. "Let's go."

With that, Buster and Porsha took the bus to the Redshore City Penitentiary, where Porsha's father was incarcerated, and went straight to the visitors' area. Soon, Jimmy Crystal, in a prison jumpsuit, was brought in and began speaking with his daughter.

"Daddy, something wonderful has happened." said Porsha.

"What?" asked Jimmy.

Porsha then told her father everything that Buster had told her, and Jimmy listened patiently.

"And all I had to do was just ask God to forgive me for all my sins." said Porsha.

"That sounds easy." thought Jimmy.

"What do you say, Daddy?" asked Porsha. "Will you accept Jesus just like me?"

"I don't know." said Jimmy.

"Well, can you at least give it some thought?" Porsha went on. "I don't want you to go to Hell. I want you to go to Heaven with me when you die."

Just then, a prison guard approached Porsha and Buster.

"I'm sorry, but you need to go." the guard said. "Visiting hours are just about up."

"Okay." nodded Porsha. "Sorry, Daddy, I have to go now. Goodbye. I love you, and so does Jesus!"

With that, Porsha and Buster left the prison and took the bus back to Calatonia. Later that evening, Porsha was watching TV when Buster came over to her. He had a pizza box in one hand and a shopping bag in the other.

"I got something for you." he said.

"What is it?" asked Porsha.

After putting the pizza on the coffee table, Buster reached into the bag and pulled out a bible bound in pink imitation leather.

"It's a bible." said Buster as he handed it to Porsha. "To help you can grow more in the word of God. Plus, you might need it come Sunday."

"What's on Sunday?" asked Porsha.

"That's when most Christians go to church." replied Buster. "Since I am a Christian myself, I always take the day off from my schedule to attend God's house on Sundays, and since you're living with me now, I figured you might like to come."

"Might as well." shrugged Porsha. "I mean, what have I got to lose? Plus, maybe I might meet a few people. Though, one question. Do I need to get dressed up all fancy-like?"

"You don't have to." replied Buster. "This is a "come as you are" setting."

"Oh, okay." said Porsha. "Still, I'm more used to wearing more fancy clothing for times like this."

"That's fine." Buster nodded. "First thing tomorrow, we'll go shopping to pick out some church clothes for you. In the meantime, let's get started on that pizza while it's still pretty hot."

Meanwhile, back at the Penitentiary, Jimmy was sitting in his cell, thinking about what Porsha had told him earlier.

"I get the feeling she may be right." Jimmy said to himself. "What if I am really lost and on my way to Hell? What if I do need salvation?"

Finally, Jimmy decided what he had to do, and he caught the attention of a passing guard.

"What is it?" asked the guard.

"I need to speak to the chaplain right now." Jimmy replied. "It's urgent. My life depends on it."

"Well, if you're that serious about it, I see no problem with that." said the guard. "But I'll need the warden's permission first."

The guard got on his radio and contacted the warden, who was swiftly informed of Jimmy's request.

"If that's the case, then I'll send the chaplain to his cell." said the warden.

"Copy that." nodded the guard.

Soon, the prison chaplain, a male blue-eyed brown bear wearing a red button-down shirt with a dark blue tie, a dark blue blazer and dress pants, black dress shoes, and a tie pin in the shape of a cross on the tie, came to see Jimmy, and sat down next to his cot after the guard let him into the cell.

"I was told you needed to speak to me." said the chaplain. "What's going on?"

"Cahplain, I need to know." replied Jimmy. "Am I really lost and on my way to Hell?"

"Yes, I'm afraid so." the chaplain nodded. "But it doesn't have to be like that."

"And I suppose you're going to tell me about how the only thing that will save me is by asking Jesus to be my Saviour, right?" Jimmy asked.

The chaplain was surprised.

"How did you know I was going to say that?" he asked.

"Because my daughter told me all about that earlier today." said Jimmy, who had tears in his eyes at this point. "And chaplain, I've made my choice. I want to get saved right here and now!"

"Good choice." the chaplain nodded with a smile. "Let's get it settled."

With that, Jimmy and the chaplain knelt in front of the cot, with Jimmy's face in his hands, and Jimmy said a prayer that went like this:

Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe you shed your blood on the cross to pay for all the sins I've committed. Please come into my heart and be my Saviour so I won't have to go to Hell when I die, and I can instead go to Heaven to be with my daughter Porsha, and my darling wife, if she has heard this good news and has accepted you as her Saviour. On a side note, please, wherever she may be, just watch over her, Lord, and if she hasn't heard this good news, let her hear it before it's too late for her. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

"Amen." repeated the chaplain as the two stood back up.

Jimmy then turned to the chaplain, his face sporting a big smile.

"Wow, chaplain." said Jimmy. "Now that I've got Jesus in my heart, I feel like a changed man already!"

"That's good." the chaplain smiled as he placed a hand on Jimmy's shoulder. "Well, I have to get back to my office and continue to prepare for next Sunday's sermon. See you at the chapel."

"You too." replied Jimmy as the chaplain left.

But then, Jimmy had an idea, and he looked at the guard.

"I have another request." said Jimmy. "This time, all I want is paper and a pen."

"What for?" asked the guard.

"I want to write a letter to my daughter telling her of what I just did here tonight." replied Jimmy.

"Well, alright." shrugged the guard.

The guard then told the warden about Jimmy's new request, and the warden agreed. Soon, a sheet of notebook paper and a pen were brought to Jimmy, who began writing out his letter.

"Thank you, Porsha." Jimmy said as he wrote. "And thank you, God."

The next day, back in Calatonia, Buster and Porsha were at the mall shopping for clothes for Porsha to wear to church.

"I know I said it's "come as you are", but it might not be a bad idea to choose something modest." said Buster.

"How about this?" asked Porsha.

Porsha had found a plain teal-colored t-shirt dress.

"That'll work." nodded Buster.

"And I found these to go with it." added Porsha.

Porsha then held up a pair of white ballet flats.

"Do these look good together?" she asked.

"I believe so." said Buster.

"Great." smiled Porsha.

And so, after paying for the dress and shoes, they left the store and went back to the Theater. Soon, it was Sunday, and Buster and Porsha walked down the street to the local church, which was just a couple of blocks away from the Theater. Porsha was wearing the t-shirt dress and shoes she had bought with her regular legwear.

"This is so exciting." Porsha grinned. "My first church service!"

They soon arrived, and were greeted by the church's pastor, a bull moose wearing a green button-down shirt with a black blazer and pants with a black tie and brown leather loafers.

"Morning, Brother Buster." the moose greeted as he and Buster shook hands. "Who's this you've got here?"

"Morning, Pastor." Buster replied. "This is Porsha Crystal, the daughter of Jimmy Crystal."

"Ah, yes." Pastor Moose nodded. "I've heard about all that in the news."

"And here's some more news." said Porsha. "I got saved just the other day!"

Pastor Moose was surprised and happy to hear this.

"Good for you." he smiled.

Pastor Moose then looked at his watch.

"We better get inside." he said. "Service is about to start."

And so, the trio went inside, and Buster and Porsha took their seats in the pews as Pastor Moose, after he led the congregation through a few hymns, began the sermon, and after the sermon, he, along with Buster and Porsha, scheduled Porsha to be baptized in the church's baptismal tank the following Sunday. When they got back to the Theater and to Buster's apartment, Buster checked the mailbox that was outside the entrance, and found a letter inside addressed to Porsha.

"Looks like there's a letter for you, Porsha." he said. "And it seems it was urgent."

Buster handed Porsha the letter, who was surprised when she saw the return address.

"It's from my Daddy!" she gasped.

"Is it now?" asked Buster. "Well, why don't you read it?"

Porsha nodded, and after grabbing a letter opener, she opened the envelope and read the letter. This is that it said:

"Dear Porsha,

I take up a pen in my hand to tell you some very wonderful news. After you told me about how you accepted Jesus as your Saviour the other day, I thought very carefully about it, and I decided to do the same as you. I'm sorry for everything I've done that may have hurt you. I've also decided that if you want to contact your mother, you may. I hope you're getting along with whoever it is that you're living with, and I hope to see you again when I'm eligible for parole. You'll also be very happy to hear that I'm a changed man now. Once my time is up, I'm going to try and repair the damage I made to our family all those years ago, and while I'm still in this place, I'm gonna spend my time spreading the gospel to other inmates so they might get saved. I love you, Porsha, and thank you. Well, I really should be thanking God, but you had a part in this, too. You're the one who told me about him, and I'll be forever grateful to both you and God for saving me from eternal damnation. Lastly, I hope this letter gets to you safely. I love you and miss you.

-Your Loving Daddy.

As Porsha read the letter, tears of joy began filling her eyes again.

"What is it?" asked Buster.

"My Daddy's been saved!" Porsha grinned. "Praise God!"

"Praise God indeed." said Buster while shedding a few joyful tears himself.

The following week was spent preparing for Porsha's baptism, the day of which soon arrived. After Pastor Moose's sermon, Porsha went into one of the church bathrooms to change out of her church clothes, and came back out wearing a plain white t-shirt and a pair of red athletic shorts. Then, she waded into the baptismal tank where Pastor Moose, who had swapped his own clothing for a green golf shirt with a pair of black pants.

"Porsha Crystal, to be born of God's spirit is the new birth into Christ." Pastor Moose said. "Have you accepted Christ as your Saviour?"

"Yes, I have." nodded Porsha.

Porsha then folded her arms over her chest and closed her eyes. Then, Pastor Moose then placed one hand on Porsha's left arm and the other on the back of her head.

"Porsha Crystal, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." said Pastor Moose.

Pastor Moose then immersed Porsha in the water, then lifted her back up as the congregation erupted in applause and cheers. Buster even had his camera out, and managed to snap photos of the moment Porsha was immersed and after she was lifted out. Copies of both these photos were quickly sent, along with another bible, this one bound in black genuine leather, to Jimmy at the Penitentiary, with the two photos taped on the inside of the front cover, and later that night, Porsha was getting ready for bed, but before she slipped under her covers, she decided to have say goodnight to the Lord.

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for Buster Moon." Porsha prayed. "Without him telling me about you, I never would have learned to receive God's precious gift of eternal life in Heaven with you. Grant me restful sleep tonight, and most importantly, thank you for my salvation. And thank you for my father's salvation as well, and please continue to watch over him in prison. In your precious name, amen."

Back at the Penitentiary, Jimmy was having his own nighttime prayer session.

"Heavenly Father, thank you for saving me from eternal damnation, and for changing my destination from Hell to Heaven." he said. "And thank you that my daughter was saved too. Please continue to watch over her and Buster Moon, and every one of his friends, and if any of them don't know you, give them the patience to hear about you so that they too may receive your precious gift of eternal life. In Jesus' precious name, amen."

And as Jimmy and Porsha Crystal fell asleep that night, both felt very happy to know that they each have a new friend in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The End

A.N.2. And there you have it. My first story for the Sing franchise, and my first story of 2022. I can't make any promises on when and if there will be a second one, because I'll be making a point of trying to do fanfics for other categories I haven't written for in a while. Until then, stay tuned for my next fanfic and Happy (Belated) New Year!

A.N.3. I've already made quite a few little nods to my faith as a Christian, but I've always wanted to write a story specifically about someone receiving the gospel. BigMoose01 already did that with his Owl House fanfic "Luz Noceda: Shepherd Of The Boiling Isles", which I strongly encourage you to check out. After seeing the movie, I knew right away that this would be the category I would write this story for.
