"Come," Worf said upon hearing the alert in his quarters.

It was Dr. Crusher, PADD in hand, looking a little awkward. "I decided to do a rare house call, just for you," she said, ever friendly. She handed the PADD to the Klingon. "The paternity test came back; Alexander is definitely your son. Though if you don't mind me saying, I'm sure I'm only confirming something you already know."

Worf nodded silently.

"The captain said that you sent Alexander to live with his grandparents?" Crusher continued.

"Yes, that is true," Worf said. "He really belonged with his mother, of course..." He trailed off before adding, "Since that is no longer possible, he deserves a family that can care for him."

"I understand," the doctor said. "It was hard for me to decide to have Wesley with me on the Enterprise, but he was old enough to let me know what he wanted. Alexander is too young. I also wanted to say I am sorry about K'Ehleyr. We did everything we could."

"I know," Worf said abruptly, then added, "Thank you, truly."
