A/N: Can't say I am surprised that a lot of you picked up on the little comment I made about Arizona seeming off. We all know Arizona had commitment issues. She is like that in this story too. So, you will see what her issue was here.
Chapter 17
Tuesday Night
Arizona's POV
Arizona was wearing a small white bikini that looked like it was made specifically for her. Her hair was in a messy bun on top of her head and she honestly looked perfect. Arizona had clearly caught her checking her out and just smirked at her.
"See something you like?" She jokingly asked.
Callie just shook her head up and down. She had forgotten how to speak apparently.
"Speak for yourself Calliope. You should only be allowed to wear a bikini. You are stunning." Arizona walked up to her and pushed her hair behind her ear. Callie cleared her throat that was now dry and grabbed Arizona's hand. She lead her to the steps and handed her a glass of wine.
Once Arizona was settled into the hot tub, Callie followed her in. As they both sat back, and visibly relaxed Arizona looked at Callie. They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. Arizona was starting to notice that she was really falling for Callie and that made her feel uneasy. Normally, this would be the time where Arizona bolted. It was pretty easy to end things. She bounced from city to city for half the year and it made not committing easier than actually committing. The issues was Arizona knew Callie was different.
As Arizona was walking through Callie's house it had such a homey feel to it. Something that she hadn't felt in a really long time. She wasn't sure if it was the house or the fact it was Callie's house. But it scared her. She wanted to know more about the brunette and her life. So, she worked up the courage to ask Callie something she had been wanting to know for a while now.
"Calliope, can I ask you a question? If it is too personal, please just tell me to back off."
Arizona saw the little bit of panic cross Callie's face. But it was gone as quickly as it came.
"Sure. You can ask me anything."
"I don't want to be insensitive, but I noticed there were no photos of Sofia and another parent. You have mentioned how you and Aria have been raising the girls together. I am interested in getting to know Sofia, but I don't want to cause and issues."
Callie seemed to visibly relax once the question was asked, so Arizona was very interested in her response.
Callie's POV
Callie couldn't say she was surprised Arizona was asking. Most people do. But it was the last part of the question that eased Callie's nerves. Arizona wanted to get to know Sofia.
"To answer your question, no. It is just me. There is no other parent in Sofia's life. Which has been difficult, but I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Callie could tell that Arizona had more questions. So, she continued.
"I met Sofia's father when I was working on my master's degree. He was a professor. Very cliché, I know. But when we first met, I didn't know he was a professor and he didn't know I was a student. We started dating and that is when we discovered that he taught at the university that I attended. We continued to date, and we were talking about marriage and a future. Everything seemed pretty perfect. I found out I was pregnant with Sofia and I went to surprise him at his house. I was going to do something cute to tell him. When I walked in, I heard laughing and talking. When I saw him, he was in there with a woman and a young girl. He saw me and it looked like he had seen a ghost. So, I turned and left. We spoke later that day and he told me he had a wife and a daughter. When I told him I was pregnant he tried to give me money to 'take care of it' but that was never an option. So, I told him I didn't need him, and I never spoke to him again. He never tried to contact me or anything, so I don't pay him much thought. I graduated 5 months pregnant and immediately started working for my Dad's company. It wasn't what I thought I would be doing, but it allows me to be here and be present with Sofia. Which at the end of the day is all that really matters to me."
Arizona was just staring at Callie. Just as Callie was about to start rambling Arizona spoke.
"Calliope, I am sorry that happened to you. It had to have been hard to go through that while pregnant. But Sofia is so lucky to have such a strong mother. She is lucky to have you. Thank you for sharing that with me. It means a lot."
Callie watched as Arizona moved to sit directly next to her. She took her hand and it was comforting. Callie didn't tell many people that story. She felt like it made her look young at foolish. Sofia had asked a few times about her father and Callie just said that he was not around, and it was just the both of them. Thankfully that answer was enough for Sofia.
Callie took a sip of her wine and looked at Arizona.
"I am going to say something, but I don't want to freak you out or anything." Callie tried to joke.
"Okay. I am all ears." Arizona replied with a dimple smile.
Callie took a deep breath. "You said you wanted to get to know Sofia, and that is something I would really like. But I can't help but think that in a few days you are going to just be gone. Long distance isn't really something that I am a fan of. I understand your job. I understand that you travel, and it is necessary. I like you Arizona, like really like you. I hope that doesn't scare you. I don't let people into my life because it is not just me. So, I guess I just want to know what you are thinking here."
Arizona's POV
There it was. The bomb that Arizona was just waiting to go off. She knew they would eventually have to discuss it. But Arizona was enjoying their little bubble. Callie was not the type of woman that Arizona would just leave and not say a word to. She liked Callie too much to do that.
Arizona sat silent for a few moments. She wanted to make sure what came out of her mouth was the right thing. She could tell Callie was getting antsy though.
"Okay. So, everything you just said is spot on and very valid. It isn't that I don't do long distance, I really don't do relationships if I am being honest."
Arizona watched Callie visibly deflate. But she continued.
"But Calliope you are not like any woman I have ever met before. I wouldn't say I wanted to get to know your kid if I didn't really like you too. In terms of traveling and my job, yeah. That is the reality of my career. A career that is just getting started. But I always promised myself that I wouldn't compete in every tournament of the year. My body can't handle it. I am gone about 3 months a year. There is a lot of travel in golf, but I love it. It is not something I am willing to walk away from right now. I can't ask you to be okay with starting a relationship with someone who is going to be gone for a big part of the year. What I will say is that if there was anyone, I would be willing to try this with, it would be you." Arizona breathed out a breath she hadn't even realized she had been holding.
Callie looked like she was deep in thought and then her response surprised Arizona.
"I appreciate your honesty. I really do. I know that there are 2 tournaments after The Race and then the season is over. Would you be open to spending some time in Miami this off season? I would like to get to know you and we can determine if this is something worth pursuing."
Arizona couldn't help the giant smile that she was currently wearing. "I can't think of anywhere else I would want to be. I did tell you I was looking to spend some time somewhere warm."
Callie's POV
Callie was honestly shocked that she didn't just shut Arizona down when she mentioned she was gone 3 months a year. That is not how Callie did relationships. But again, Arizona was different. She felt it. There was something there. So, she proposed Arizona spend some time in Miami when the season was over. She was even more surprised when Arizona said yes.
There was something that Arizona said that stood out to her though. So, she figured she would just ask.
"You said that your body couldn't take a full golf season. You are pretty young. Some of the people on the tour are a heck of a lot older than you. Is golf really that taxing on your body? I know nothing about the sport."
Arizona visibly tensed at the question. Callie had almost regretted asking her.
"Well, I am not as young as I once was." Arizona tried to joke. "I was in an accident when I was 15. Tim and I were practicing golf out by our house in Boston. There were some kids there just messing around and one of the boys that was there started talking to Tim and me. He seemed like a pretty nice kid. There had been rumors about me being gay around our high school. It really wasn't a big deal. I wasn't really actively dating at the time. But the kid Tim and I were talking to asked me if I wanted to go out with him and I politely turned him down. He was pretty pissed and asked if it was because I was 'a dyke'. I didn't love the choice of words, so I responded like a smart ass. I told him that was part of it, but even if I was straight, I wouldn't even think of going out with someone like him. He got pretty aggressive and thankfully Tim was there. But there were like 4 of them and just Tim and I. So, Tim and I decided that it was time to get out of there. When we got onto our bikes they got into their cars and basically ran me off the road. I hit a pole and really messed up my back. The only reason it wasn't worse is I had my golf bag across my back and that took most of the impact. I was just starting to get good at golf and I was basically unable to play for a whole year. My back still flares up sometimes. It is honestly the worst injury to have in a sport like golf. I had to have 3 surgeries and it has really just never been the same. I still do well and I can usually play through it but I know I won't be able to do this forever, but If I sit out a few tournaments a year I notice that 1) I play better and 2) I can play more tournaments healthy."
To say Callie was shocked at Arizona's story would be an understatement. The idea 15-year-old Arizona was the victim of a hate crime broke Callie's heart. She could see that Arizona's eyes were glossy. She was on the verge of tears.
Callie grabbed Arizona's face gently with both hands to get her to look at her. When their eyes met Callie poured every ounce of sincerity to her words.
"Arizona I am so sorry you had to go through that. So, sorry. But you are so strong and so beautiful. I bet you those ass holes are just loving seeing you all over ESPN. You overcame such adversity to be here and I am proud of you."
Arizona's POV
If Arizona wasn't falling for Callie before that, she was a goner now. That story was one only 5 people knew about. She didn't share that because she was not someone that could deal with the pity in people's eyes. There was no pity in Callie's eyes though. There was sincerity and love.
Arizona could feel Callie's breath on her face with how close their faces were. She leaned in and kissed Callie. When she felt Callie lean into the kiss, she took it further. She swiped her tongue on Callie's bottom lip. She was immediately granted access and she deepened the kiss. The kiss started off sweet and gentle, comforting each other and showing that despite their scars and their pasts they were drawn to one another. As quickly as it started, it turned hungry. Their tongues battled for dominance and Arizona grabbed Callie's waist and brought her over to where she was now straddling Arizona.
The secrets that they had shared and comfort the had provided each other only deepened their need for one another. Arizona tangled her hands in the beautiful raven hair and pulled Callie impossibly closer. As their kiss deepened Arizona's confidence was spurred on as she felt Callie moan into her mouth. Arizona took her hands from Callie's hair and wandered down her back down to her perfect ass. When Arizona squeezed Callie tipped her head back and let out the sexiest moan Arizona had ever heard. With her neck exposed, Arizona pounced. She began kissing and licking up Callie's perfect neck, down to her collar bone where she bit down.
Arizona pulled back and looked deep in Callie's eyes. There were darker than Arizona had ever seen.
Just then Callie's phone started buzzing. "Leave it" Arizona said between kisses.
Callie just laughed. "That is Sofia. I told her she could FaceTime me before bed. Just give me a second."
Arizona just sighed. She had never dated anyone with a kid before, so she was not use to these interruptions. Wait…dated? Who said they were dating? Slow down Robbins.
Callie's POV
Oh Sofia. Callie knew Sofia would be calling but time kind of got away from her. Nothing like being interrupted by your kid. Callie answered the phone on the last ring.
"Hi Mija, how are you?" Callie tried her best to not sound irritated with her daughter. She missed her but things were just getting good with Arizona. They had cleared the air on what happens after The Race and they had connected deeper than she had with anyone in as long as Callie could remember.
"Hi Mami! Are you swimming in the hot tub without me?!" Sofia seemed genuinely upset at this idea.
"No Sof. Mami is just relaxing. See, the lights are on and the TV. So, I am not having any real fun without you." Callie made sure to shoot Arizona a wink.
"Okay. Good. I want to go in the hot tub with you tomorrow! After dinner!"
"Okay Mija. We can do that. I saw you were at the beach with Tia Aria, Allegra, and Aurora today. How was that?"
"SO, FUN! We swam all day and built sandcastles and ate sandwiches." No one love the beach as much as Sofia. As Sofia was talking Arizona let out a laugh at her excitement. Sofia, never one to miss anything quickly changed the subject.
"Mami, who is that laughing?" Sofia looked worried.
"Oh, um Arizona is here is me."
"What! Mami!" Sofia whined. "Arizona is MY best friend. Why is she at our house without me." Callie was at a loss for words.
Arizona came to her rescue she moved next to Callie so Sofia could see her. "Sofia, I thought you would be here. I did bring you a present for when you come home. I promise I will see you soon!"
That answer seemed to please Sofia, especially since Arizona mentioned a present in her future.
As Sofia continued to ramble on it was clear that she was getting tired. Finally, Callie had to end the conversation.
"Mija, I think it is time for bed. Remember we have dinner tomorrow. I can't wait to see you. I love you, goodnight!"
"Goodnight Mami! I love you. Goodnight Arizona!" before either could respond the screen went black.
"Well, she sure loves the beach" Arizona joked.
"Oh, you have no idea. That girl is a fish. Believe it or not she is a very good swimmer. I think the whole pool incident was a result of her being scared. I am honestly just glad that she isn't afraid of the water after that. Living in Miami and not liking the water would be pretty miserable."
"Maybe when I come visit, we could do a beach day or something. I honestly don't remember the last time I went to the beach."
"I think that would be perfect. But, enough about the beach. I think we were in the middle of something before that phone call." Callie whispered in Arizona's ear.
"Oh, we were. Do you want to continue this in the hot tub, or take it inside?" Arizona asked.
"I don't think I have the patience to wait any longer." Callie grabbed Arizona and maneuvered her over her lap.
Bathing suit tops were quickly shed. The intensity of the conversation and the wine elevated the passion between the two. Callie kissed down Arizona's neck before taking a perfect pink nipple into her mouth. She bit down and heard Arizona hiss in pain. She quickly soothed it with her tongue.
It was so quiet outside the only thing that could be heard was the dull music from the TV, the water sloshes from the movement, and heavy breathing. Callie lowered her hand to Arizona's waist and quickly rid the blonde of her bathing suit bottoms. She threw them to the side to be dealt with later.
Arizona's POV
Arizona had died and gone to heaven. The way Callie touched her was the perfect combination of gentle and rough. She vividly remembered their first night together. But having just spilled their hearts to one another, it made this feel different.
Arizona felt Callie swiftly enter her with two fingers. She couldn't help the loud moan that left her. This was perfect. In this moment, everything was perfect.
Arizona met Callie's fingers thrust for thrust as she rode the hand that was driving her crazy.
"Calliope, yes. Harder." Arizona groaned. Callie quickly complied. The feeling of Callie's fingers inside her and her mouth on her breasts was sending Arizona quickly towards the edge.
As Callie quickened her pace Arizona's eyes closed and she gripped the side of the hot tub on either side of Callie's head. She was close. She was about to combust. Just then, Callie swiped her thumb over Arizona's aching clit.
"Calliope, I-I am going to cum. Just like that, yes!"
"Look at me Arizona, I want to see you" Callie whispered
Arizona's eyes opened at Callie's request. As she looked into those perfect chocolate brown eyes, she saw the passion and devotion and that threw her over the edge.
"Ah! Yes. Calliope." As Arizona came down from her high, she dropped her forehead against Callie's. As her orgasm subsided, she felt Callie pull her fingers out of her. She already missed her touch.
"That was amazing. Thank you."
Callie just laughed. "That is something you never have to thank me for Arizona." Callie leaned into kiss Arizona's swollen lips. It was meant to be a chaste kiss, but Arizona immediately deepened it.
Arizona stood up and guided Callie to standup with her. Once they were both in the standing position, she pulled Callie's bathing suit bottoms off and tossed them to the side. Arizona patted the side of the hot tub where a little deck sat.
"Hop up here gorgeous. It is your turn."
Callie made her way out of the hot tub to the ledge of the deck. Arizona had never seen such a beautiful sight. She took her time kissing up Callie's lets until she reached her goal. Even though the hot tub had both of their bodies wet, there was no way to deny how wet Callie was for Arizona.
Initially planning to tease Callie, Arizona dove right in. She slowly licked up Callie's slit and was immediately met with a hand roughly grabbing her hair. She is definitely a hair puller.
Arizona took Callie's clit in her mouth and began slowly licking, sucking, and nibbling.
"Arizona, more." Was all Callie could get out. Her head thrown back in ecstasy.
Arizona inserted two fingers into Callie's slick opening and began slowly pumping. Building Callie up. She continued her assault on Callie's clit. Just as she felt Callie's walls tighten, she slowed down and pulled out. She was met with a very frustrated huff from Callie.
"Wh-hat are- "Callie was quickly cut off. Arizona dove back in adding a third finger and nibbling on Callie's clit. Before Callie even had time to put her hand back in Arizona's hair she exploded.
"Ariz-z-zonaaaa"
Callie's POV
That was the strongest orgasm Callie had ever had in her life. She had never felt anything like that. She collapsed backwards laying on the small deck, unable to catch her breath after what she just experience. Arizona was slowly bringing her down from her high and she could feel her legs shaking.
Just as she was able to breathe again, she felt Arizona's body next to hers. She felt a towel cover her and Arizona lean into her neck, peppering her with light soft kisses.
Callie rolled over and looked into Arizona's eyes.
"That was amazing." Callie whispered.
"Sounded like it." Arizona smugly replied.
"Cocky, are we?" Callie laughed.
"It isn't cocky if you can back it up Calliope."
"Hmmm. You may have to refresh my memory then. I am not sure I can say with 100% certainty that you can back it up."
Arizona's eyes quickly darkened.
"Oh Calliope, you are going to regret that statement. Let's go we don't need your neighbors to hear me show you just how good I am."
Arizona took Callie's hand and lead her towards the back door. This was going to be a good night.
A/N: Okay, the girls have a plan for once golf season is over. We also found out some personal things for both of them. Like I said, I really loved writing this chapter.
