Chapter 11
"Mooney"
Harry and Susan jumped at the man standing before them, he wore a muggle 3 peace suit and carried a briefcase.
Sirius pulled the man into a crushing hug
"Where have you been I thought you would be at the station waiting for them to get off the train"
"Would have loved to be there it was unfortunate the date it fell on"
Harry and Susan didn't care he was here now that was all that mattered. They spoke in unison
"What are you working on" started Harry
"I bet its really cool" finished Susan
"Well it depends if I can find people willing to test them"
The Potter-Black children thrust their hands up "we will, so will Nev and Hermione"
Hermione became still "well erm I erm, as long as its not dangerous. He got me into a bit of bother a while ago" Pointing at Harry
"I'm trying not to annoy my parents at the moment" she was smiling as Harry stuck his tongue out
Susan dragged the man by his arm towards Hermione
"Remus J Lupin director of PBL Investments and the second smartest person I know, meat Hermione Granger, my best friend, the smartest person I know."
Hermione laughed "A pleasure to meet you sir"
"None of that sir lark, please call me Mooney"
Susan broke in "So Mooney what have you made this time"
"Ah Tink as impatient as ever" The girl blushed at the nickname.
"Hold out your wand arms, you Nev hold out both arms. You as well Hermione"
They all did as they were told, Remus waved his wand. Leather wand holders lifted from the case and a fixed to their forearms. Two for Neville one on each arm.
"listen carefully, these are custom built. Once you insert your wand a flick of your wrist will drop it into your hand. Neville your right one will hold a wand and dagger your left a dagger. A twist of the wrist before the flick will deposit your blades"
Harry was the first to get his voice back
"Mooney the mirrors are cool but these are mint"
Hermione's eye went wide "You made the mirrors they are amazing, but I was thinking have you heard of Dick Tracey"
"I have, I live predominantly in the muggle world"
"Because your a Werewolf sir"
The room froze, Amelia addressed the young girl "How"
"well if we found away to shrink the mirror we could replace a watch glass"
She rambled on about her idea the rest of the room was silent. Harry walked up to her and kissed her gently on the cheek. No Mi she ment about Mooney
"oh" she blushed. "Elementary really, couldn't meet you at the train because of timing, has to stay in the muggle world. That would mean he was shunned not just disliked because of blood status or something stupid like that. But the main reason is you all call him Mooney, I mean really guys its kinda obvious when you take a moment and think"
She then looked at the man
"Before we continue on with the watch idea, why Tink"
Susan was blushing red "he says it short for Tinkerbell"
Hermione doubled over with laughter due to the look of disgust on her friends face.
"Sorry to break up your fun, but you need to pack a bag Sue, your going home with Hermione. Your mum has something planned for tomorrow for you girls"
Susan shot off to pack a bag
"You two may as well come so you can say goodbye"
As soon as they arrived at the Grangers Hermione took Susan up to her room to settle her in.
"We can wait in the den while they sort them self's out, then you can say bye and head home"
They entered the den to find Dan polishing a shotgun
"Hello Harry how are you"
Harry looked at the gun nervously
"Dan laughed, dont look so scared Harry, I would never point this at you far to messy "
"Well Dan have a good night and I will see you tomorrow when i drop these two off" Sirius said
They made their way to the garage and the flu. Sirius was first to leave and Dan went into the house.
Both girls hugged the boys and sent them home.
The following morning the two girls were woken by Emma Granger.
"Come on up you get is time for our day to start"
The two perjarma clad girls walked down to find their Gryffindor dorm mates waiting for them. Susan was frozen in shock
"Happy birthday" They chorused including Hermione
"How did you know"
Sarah turned to her with a look of confusion
"you do know how smart your best friend is"
She turned and pull the bushy brunette into a hug. Tears started to form.
"Don't start al that slushy stuff, we have a lot to do. Any of you had a McDonald's double sausage and egg McMuffin with a hash brown in it"
"They all shook their heads whats a McDonald's" Jamie asked
"And what's a hash brown" Lavender finished
"Just the best breakfast ever, come on Sue we need to get ready"
They both ran up stairs to wash and change, when they got back down Sue received another surprise.
"Mum I thought you had to work"
Amelia smiled "I'm the head of the DMLE if I can't take the day off for my daughters birthday who can"
Susan ran into her mother's waiting arms
For the six witches the day was full of firsts, first McDonald's breakfast, first trip to a spar and first professional hair and make-up treatment. They all agreed it was the best girls only birthday ever. They got back had a light dinner together then their four school friends left so Hermione and Susan could get ready for the party.
When they were ready they desended the stairs to their waiting escorts. Harry was wearing black dinner trousers, black patent shoes, a white dinner shirt, white dinner jacket and black bow tie. Hermione was taken back by how handsome he looked. Beside her Susan was silently gaping at Neville. He was standing next to Harry in a black dinner suit with black shirt, shoes and bow tie the only colour was scarlet accents on the tie, lapels and pockets on the jacket. The color matched the shawl she had over her shoulders contrasting her black dress and shoes. Harry turned to see the two girls looking at them, the dress Hermione was wearing was a beautiful shade of blue, her hair in gentle ringlets framing her face. Both boys felt that they would be escorting the most beautiful girls in the world.
"well done ladies you managed to bring James Bond and Odd Job to a standstill"
Dan smirked from his position leaning on the doorframe. Susan looked confused, Hermione was annoyed and the two boys were still gaping at the two girls.
Emma followed the two girls down wearing a silver grey fitted dress, Dan was hoping she would let him help her out of it later.
The boys finally returned to the real world stepped forward, took the girls by the hand and kissed their respective cheeks.
"Hermione you are stunning"
"Susan you are perfect"
"let's go I want pictures by the limo"
The magicals had no need to ask what a limo was, as they left the house in happy couples they were greeted by a sleek black car that looked like it had been stretched out. An immaculately dressed driver open the door for them and two heads poked out.
"Let's go I smell a party"
"mum dad I thought you would be at the Ministry" Susan stumbled out
"And miss the chance to dance with my little girl on her birthday, not a chance. Your boyfriend pointed out that fact"
"He's not my boyfriend"
"Yet" the four parents called in unison trying to control their laughter
Neville stepped closer to her and put his arm around her
"I hope you don't mind, I saw an opportunity to make your day a special as possible"
Susan turned a kissed him gently on the cheek
"Thanks Nev it's perfect"
They all entered the car, made themselves comfortable and the car pulled away. Nobody was sure how long the drive was. They were to busy laughing and having fun. The four adults drank Champagne while the children had fresh orange juice in their glasses. The arrived at the hotel where the ball was being held. They exited the car and the four couples approached the hotel entrance. A waiter approached them
"How may I help you" Emma stepped forward
"Dr Emma Granger, we have a table for eight"
"excellent please follow me"
"This is where my wife is a superstar" Dan said turning to the others
"I'm a dentist, she is an artist with an encyclopaedia of knowledge. If another dentist is dealing with a difficult procedure Emma is the one they go to"
Hermione started to look ashamed
"I feel like a bad daughter, I never asked"
"No darling I never spoke about it, I was quite happy to come home and discover what adventures you had. You were the most important thing on my world"
Hermione smiled "Love you mum"
The meal passed with much laughter. There was the odd interruption when someone would approach the table to thank Emma for her help with a difficult procedure. Harry could see that Hermione was starting to slip into thinking mode. Harry gently squeezed her had.
"Are you alright"
Hermione gently smiled at Harry
"I'm just starting to realise how wonderful my mum is, i want what she has"
A smirking Harry replied
"So you want to be a dentist when you grow up"
"No you prat, i want to still study and do the best i can but i want to have fun as well i need a better balance. Will you help me?"
Hermione bit her lip and looked into Harry's green eyes. He lent over and whispered in her ear.
"Please stop biting your lip, your mother is a beautiful intelligent woman and you are exactly the same. As for having fun I'm yours to comand"
Her Mother interrupted there whispered chat
"at the count of three I will distract your dad, and you can kiss that wonderful young man, If you don't I will"
"One, two, three"
She then grabbed her husband by the ears and pulled his lips to hers, Hermione did the same for Harry. Both Granger ladies pleased with their job well done.
Harry was in an absolute state of shock Hermione just kissed him and it was like being electrocuted in a good way. the table was cleared and the four teens left the adults for refreshments.
Dan turned to his wife "I don't know if I should be annoyed that you kissed me to cover for your daughter or hope she wants you to cover for her as much as possible"
Emma winked at Amelia, both woman grabbed their husbands and kissed them. Both men looked round to check their daughters were not snogging boys. The two ladies laughed. Amelia while still laughing addressed the men
"Now you won't know if your getting kissed as a cover or not"
They all laughed, in the cue the four pre teens were approached.
"Look its Stranger Granger"
