Chapter 16
Molly Weasley followed by her husband and daughter stormed into the hospital wing. Dumbledore and Sirius sat in chairs between the two beds Harry was asleep in Amelia's arms, snuggled into her in the same way he did as a baby. Seeing the sleeping boy Mrs Weasley turned towards his bed. Sirius could see her do this and was in no mood to take it. Standing he blocked the path between the newcomers and his son.
"I have no idea what your intentions are towards my son but they stop now. Both boys made a stupid decision and will be punished for it"
Molly made to open her mouth, so Sirius continued
"Your little Ron is just as at fault as is both my children and Neville, And they are being dealt with by the school"
"What about the Granger girl?"
"What about her?"
The growl in Amelia's voice evident. She had managed to disentangle herself from Harry and was raising from the bed.
"I suppose she is totally innocent in all this"
"Allow me to educate you Molly, that Girl refused to engage in any stupid activities that her friends were planning"
Amelia continued before Molly could interrupt.
"The headmaster believes her strong will power broke the charms holding her, she realised something was wrong and rushed to her friends aid. She is the only reason Your Ron is not still down their and in need of more medical attention"
Amelia paused for a moment
"The rest of the story is Ron's to tell, But I tell you this Molly Weasley I have had enough of your leader of the light shit. Stay away from my family until you get that into your head"
Ron's mother rurned and marched up to his bed
"What was you thinking Ronald, the Headmaster warned you all it was dangerous"
Back at Harry's bed Amelia spoke
"I need to see the Minister"
Sirius understood what that conversation was going to be about.
Amelia entered the office of the Minister of Magic to find a meeting had already started.
"I suppose your here because of the rumours escaping Hogwarts about the attention seeking half blood you took in"
"Delores if you ever talk about my son like that again you will cross wands with me"
The small round woman that resembled the love child of Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy hopped to her feet
"How dare you speak to me like that I am the undersecretary to the Minister of Magic"
"And I am the head of the DMLE"
"Lady's we are all pure bloods in this room, and to Spill such important blood would be a waste"
Lucius Malfoy's slimy voice distracted the two women.
"I neither asked for or want your council Malfoy"
"That's Lord Malfoy to you"
"And that's Lady Black to you"
"AMELIA BONES THESE PEOPLE ARE MY TRUSTED ADVISORS, WE ARE LONG OVERDUE A PRIVATE CONVERSATION. Delores, Lucius would you mind waiting outside"
The door closed and numerous privacy wards erected.
We know your stressed Amelia but blowing up at Lucius Malfoy will not aid your case. How is young Harry"
"He is ok Cornelius not totally over the ordeal but he will get there"
"Good, I think a week off so you can be there if Harry needs you"
Amelia nodded and smiled
"I fear for you Cornelius"
"My job is a thankless one, as a good friend once said you can do what is right or what is easy."
He smiled, the friend that provided that advice is sitting in front of him.
"I inherited a lot of problems from the previous administration and we need to keep some enemy's close if only to make them easier to watch.Keep a low profile for as long as possible and I will endeavour to keep the wolves from your door, also I think we need to send more money discreetly to the Auror's if he who must not be named is trying to return then we need to be ready"
"If you need us call"
The Minister of Magic smiled
"Now let's get the show on the road"
Lucius and Delores were both standing outside the office as the wards started to fall
"VOW OF SECRECY, I KNOW THE RULES. I WILL KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT"
"AMELIA CONSIDER YOURSELF ON LEAVE FOR A WEEK, I EXPECT YOU TO RETURN WITH THE CORRECT ATITUDE"
The door slammed open and Amelia stormed away.
Both Lucius and Delores were ecstatic, Amelia would need to be removed for their own agendas. Lucius had a plan for Dumbledore but that would have to wait until next term.
Amelia returned to the hospital wing of Hogwarts, Harry had woken from his sleep. She climbed back onto the bed and pulled him back into her embrace. They had already agreed with the others that no mention of what happened would be shared outside the family.
Over the next week life returned to normal for the group of friends with the exception of random girls walking up to Harry and Neville. They would proceed to smile and giggle.
"Have all the girls in this school gone mental"
Harry said running his fingers through his hair as he passed up and down. Neville had been just as confused by it, Hermione and Susan sat next to each other trying not to laugh at the boys. It was Hermione who broke into peels of laughter so Susan decided to let them out of their misery
"Guys they want you to ask them to the Valentines ball"
Harry became very pale and Neville dropped the dart he was about to throw, missing his toe by less than an inch.
Susan turned to Hermione
" have you been asked to the ball yet"
Hermione seemed to ponder the question
"No I don't believe I have, what about you Sue?"
They were interrupted by an annoying voice
"Don't worry Granger I'll meet you in the common room at 7"
Harry made to step forward when Susan made eye contact with him. A very quick non verbal conversation had him stop moving towards the boy.
Hermione stood and turned to the older boy
"Sorry Cormac I was only teasing Harry, Just reminding our boyfriend's that we still liked to be asked"
"Oh come off it Granger, you know you would rather go with me. One of the better wizards in Gryffindor"
Harry had had enough he moved towards the older boy, at this point a pair of red headed twins approached the boy and whispered in his ear. His face went slack.
"I'm sorry if i have offended you Hermione"
He followed this with a quick retreat, the two boys turned to Hermione.
"that lad is"
Fred started
"A prat"
George finished
"Thanks again"
"for the help"
"with potions"
Neville spoke after the twins finished their back and forth talk
" its like listening to those two"
Pointing to Harry and Susan. They all smiled. The twins left to find dates for the ball. Harry turned to Hermione.
"Miss Granger will you do me the honour of accompanying me to the ball"
Hermione smiled
"Mr Potter, I would love to"
Susan looked at Neville and raised her eye brows. Neville dropped to his knees at her feet
"Miss Bones-Black would you do me the huge honour of accompanying me to the Valentines ball"
"Mr Longbottom I would consider myself fortunate to accompany you"
The sweet moment was disrupted by the sounds of Harry pretending to vomit and receiving a smack to the back of the head. For the next week Hermione received glares from girls from all houses and years.
This came to a head in the library when Cho Chang and her group of Ravenclaws were walking past Hermione and Susan
"How is anyone supposed to get near Potter-Black when he is always with Granger"
Hermione's entire body began to slump until Susan spoke in a whisper her eyes never leaving her book
"Can you believe the girls in this school not one of then use my brother's name. All they see is his reputation. Not the pain in the ass smelly boy you saddled yourself with. When's lunch I'm starving"
Sue's eyes never left her book, her comment my have been said as an off hand statement but it made Hermione wonder. She had read about Harry, Susan and their family in History of Magic. But that wasn't the boy she was secretly in love with, Her Harry was just a cute, shy head strong idiot who's eyes shone when he looked at her. Not this boy who lived person.
"Why me?"
Susan looked up in confusion
"what you on about Hermione"
"Harry could have his pick of the girls but he is with me"
Susan turned the question around on her
"why do you think Neville is with me?"
"Your very pretty and if you take after your mum you will have a serious set of breasts also your funny and powerful"
"Why Miss Granger if you keep talking like that you could turn a girls head" She said with a wink
Hermione laughed and bumped her friends shoulder
"I don't see what you see I only see my negatives. As to what Neville sees in me, that is something only he knows but I'm happy he dose"
Susan continued "Do you fancy Neville?"
Susan was slightly shocked that Hermione stopped to think about her question rather than immediately answering no
"hmmm well he is a cute boy who I expect will grow into a handsome man but he doesn't make me feel that way"
"I wasn't expecting you to think about it for that long"
The girl blushed "Sorry sue that's my autistic side coming out. Because I have never thought about him that way, you asked a question I didn't have an answer too. So I had to think about it"
"Your missing the point I'm trying to make Hermione, Nev wants me I want Nev I have to be happy with that. When he grows up a bit I'm sure he will tell me why"
"So your saying I can't have the answer why, I have to just accept it for now"
"yep, bloody annoying isn't it"
Hermione nodded
"oh and Hermione they are not breasts, boobies are fine dad referring to my mums chestickles all the time is a bit weird, she is so used to it that all she dose is is roll her eyes. I do not want to know what they get up to in their bedroom"
Both girls spoke in unison "urgh old people sex" And then burst into laughter
This brought a glare from Madam Pince and silenced them both and focused them back onto their work.
The night of the ball arrived, Harry a Neville were waiting in the common room. Not all the first years had dates for the ball so they were all going to walk to the great Hall together. Susan descended the stairs followed by Hermione there were a few wolf whistles including Lavender. Everyone laughed as the two girls linked arms with their dates and they all made their way to the ball.
The teachers agreed it was better to have two separate balls one for the third years and below and one for the forth years and above. This allowed them to have manageable numbers.
They all enjoyed the evening, dancing and having fun. Sue and Hermione took great pleasure in lending their boyfriends to the other girls they shared a dorm with, even Ron was pulled into dancing.
Ron was laughing with Sarah as he spun her around. Their fun was interrupted by Malfoy dancing up to them with a beautiful girl with long blond hair and crystal blue eyes.
"Weasel managed to get a date I don't believe it"
Ron had been spending time with the others and was starting to see when somebody was looking to get a rise out of him. He decided this was one of those times.
"Heir Malfoy allow me to introduce my dance partner Miss Sarah Lampon"
Malfoy was shocked by the formal introduction, the young lady at his side was not impressed with his attitude, she stepped forward
"Master Weasley would you reserve a dance for me"
Sarah interrupted
"Have this next one I haven't given up on getting Neville to throw me over his shoulder"
"Miss Greengrass you would honour me with this dance"
They danced away from the gob smacked Slytherin.
The night finished with the usual school disco slow dance. Susan was happily dancing with Nev and Hermione with Harry.
Ron had ended up dancing with Lavender.
The group made their way back to the common room, Harry and Hermione were holding hands, Susan insisted on another piggy back ride. Ron had Lavender on one arm and Parvati on the other they all were smiling after a great night.
The following day all the girls woke to find a single rose on their pillows, Susan and Hermione had red roses with tiny yellow flecks that made them sparkle like gold the other girls had white with the same flecks. Jamie asked where they had come from.
"I would guess Harry and Nev, red for a girlfriend and white for a girl who's a friend" Hermione said
The other girls smiled when Lavender spoke
"those two are setting a seriously high standard for the rest of the boys in this school"
The group of girls walked down into the common room to see Harry, Neville and Ron sitting and chatting.
"Harry James Potter-Black who's idea was it to get these girls all a rose"
Hermione was working hard not to smile. Harry and Neville looked at each other, looked towards Ron and said
"Him"
"it was them as well, I just asked what the rose thing was about, they explained the muggle tradition, and I said do you you only give a rose to a girlfriend"
Harry interrupted "what he is leaving out is he is the one who noticed it was all the girls first valentine away from home and didn't want them left out"
Ron was in shock as he received a kiss on the cheek from four girls the other two were busy kissing their boyfriends.
Entering the great Hall for breakfast there was obviously love in the air, delivered by owl. Dean and Seamus stopped in the open door way Ron Weasley was eating breakfast with four girls all smiling and talking with him.
The boys walked over to sit with Ron and the group of girls, very impressed with their friend.
As they were leaving the hall Professor Sprout approached the group
"Mr Longbottom the registration is complete"
"Thank you Professor"
The Herbology teacher walked away
Susan turned to Neville
"what was that about"
The boy blushed
"I cultivated your rose specially for you, And she helped me register the name"
With wide I eyes she said
"What is it called"
"Susie's eyes because it sparkles like your eyes"
She grabbed Neville and kissed him
Ron pretended to grumble
"Follow that Lads"
Everyone laughed except Susan and Neville, they were to busy kissing.
The castle returned to normal over the next few days.
The next thing they new it was Easter and they were all on the train heading back to London. All the first years girls in one compartment and all the boys in another
Ron asked what their Easter plans were
"Well I know that lot are planning another girls day so I thought we could do a Lads one, maybe a film and then the snooker hall Hermione's dad took us to"
Neville then proceeded to explain to the non muggle borns what that entailed, this had them all excited. Dean had an idea
"What if we all do the film thing with the girls, my dad works for West Ham and he said he could get us tickets to a match"
Harry pointed out that Jamie and Hermione were Spurs fans and might like the match.
In the other carriage a similar conversation was happening. In the end it was agreed they would have 3 planned days and all would be invited. None of the boys fancied the pamper day. Bur still wanted the McDonald's breakfast.
