Chapter 17
The whole group met at the Grangers House. A van like the one in the TV series the A-TEAM pulled up, the door on the side slid open and Neville accompanied by a another boy similar build to him jumped out laughing. A tall thin woman with a long neck climbed out of the drivers seat. Harry ran to the woman first.
"Auntie Tuni I didn't know you were coming were is Uncle V"
"After Sirius invested in Grunnings, your Uncle is determined to make it an even bigger success"
Amelia followed and embraced Petunia
"Great to see you Petunia we missed you at Christmas"
"It was our year to visit Vernon's side of the family, but enough of that who's the girl that had Harry all fired up"
Amelia smiled things had not always been easy with the Dursleys in the early days Petunia in her grief for her sister had lashed out at Sirius, Amelia and baby Harry the word freaks was thrown around alot.
23th June 1984
Sirius and Amelia were sitting enjoying a quiet breakfast the children had decided they wanted to eat with their grandmother so had moved to the parlour and they were chatting about their dreams. Sirius insisted on a muggle telephone and television in the house along with other muggle devices. He wanted Harry to have an understanding of where his Mother came from. The telephone started to ring. Amelia picked up the receiver and heard a distraught woman.
"I know you don't want to speak to me but my Dudley is hurt and I don't know who else to ask"
"wait there don't go anywhere"
She put the receiver back
"Kreacher can you watch the trouble magnets for us until I can get the Longbottoms over"
"Kreacher smiled and nodded definitely"
"try not to spoil them too much ice cream is not a suitable replacement for breakfast"
Kreacher smiled again she didn't say cake
Sirius came running at the sound of Amelia summoning Kreacher
"what's happening"
Amelia grabbed him and spun on the spot. Petunia had stood frozen for what seemed like hours in reality it had only been 90 seconds. A loud pop and a pair of arms turned her and pulled her into an embrace. The woman was sobbing so hard that she couldn't get the words out.
"Sirius call Albus and get to the local hospital find out what is happening"
Sirius transfigured his fluffy dog slippers into a pair of shoes. Their was a note pad next to the phone with a telephone number and address scribbled.
Kreacher suddenly appeared
"I took the children to the Longbottoms they said you had not called yet but it was not a problem"
"Thank you Kreacher can you take me to this Hospital please, I'm sorry to ask but I haven't been there before"
The Elf took his hand and they were gone. The woman in Amelia's arms had stopped crying but was now babbling about a car, a kurb and a pushchair.
Sirius was almost running as he entered the hospitals Children's ward. Vernon Dursley was sat his eyes fixed on a set of double doors.
"Vernon what happened"
His eyes didn't move his voice raspy
"Some kid in a stolen car lost control and mounted the pavement, hit Dudley in the pushchair"
They were interrupted with the appearance of a Doctor.
"Mr Dursley you can see your son now where is your wife"
Sirius spoke up
"my sister has returned home to contact family"
Nodding his understanding the doctor turned to Vernon and motioned for him to take a seat
"Im sorry Mr Dursley your son has received an impact to his little body that we fear little can be done"
The Doctor was interrupted buy someone Sirius was not expecting. Poppy Pomfret strode up to them wearing an expensive suit and white Doctor coat.
"My name is Doctor Pomfret I specialise in children's trauma, I must congratulate you on managing to stabilise the boy. I have a private ambulance waiting to take the child to my specialist facility"
The Doctor started to look confused his eyes suddenly became unfocused, he them smiled, turned and walked away. The surprises kept coming Ted Tonks and Remus Lupin walked in dressed as ambulance drivers.
Madam Pomfret asked them to follow the Doctor and collect the child. She then turned to Sirius and Vernon.
"Mr Dursley I can't say a lot here but come with us we need to act fast"
Sirius then spoke to Vernon
"you can trust them with Dudley I have trusted them with Harry"
Ted and Remus passed them with a very badly bruised and broken child on a stretcher. This sight caused Vernon to loose control of his legs. Sirius grabbed the larger man and guided him to the waiting ambulance. Once inside the ambulance that sped towards London. After the rear doors were shut Vernon spoke
"Who are you? can you save him?"
"We are taking you somewhere that we can help your son, we can't use magic to get there because we can't risk further hurt to the lad"
Sirius spoke up
"This is an ambulance put your foot through the floor"
The vehicle lurched and shot forward, the drive was agonising. They finally pulled into the concealed garage of Grimold place. Dudley was then taken into the house and up to a bedroom on the first floor. Inside the room was painted pure white there were bottles jars but also muggle machines. Amelia was waiting with another healer
"Vernon this is Andromida Tonks she is a Healer and also a trained Doctor, being Sirius's cousin"
"What are you going to do?"
Andromida spoke "Mr Dursley please call me Andi, and we will do whatever it takes. Your wife is in the room opposite. If you could wait with your wife I will come to you as soon as I know more"
Before he could leave his Petunia opened the door, seeing her son she collapsed only Sirius standing behind her stopped her hitting the floor. He scooped the limp woman into his arms and carried her out of the room Amelia and Vernon followed them. Into the room opposite, the opulent room had a large double bed, seating area, an attached bathroom even a television and telephone. Petunia started to wake as Andi entered. Petunia was instantly alert and in need of answers. The healer did not want to keep them waiting
"We can help young Dudley it will require magical and non magical means"
Petunia needed to ask
"How much help will it be and how much will it cost"
Andi spoke "it will take a couple of weeks of treatment followed by a couple of weeks observation and I expect him to be fine"
Vernon spoke "whatever it costs love it will be worth it"
Sirius smiled "the cost is simple and two parts. Part 1 your car"
Vernon reached for his keys. Sirius stopped him by holding up his hands
"part 2 is a promise, you can not tell anyone what we are doing. To help that boy we are breaking the statute of secrecy. Dudley is family so we were always going to help."
"My car I thought would have to sell the house"
"you misunderstand me we needed an ambulance to get Dudley here as quickly as possible, our home has some very old protections that hide what we are doing. We needed a vehicle that we could change, your car was the only one that would not be missed"
Petunia stood and walked over to Sirius "you are telling us that our son will be fine in a month and yet you apologising because you needed the car"
She then threw herself onto Sirius
"After everything we said I can't thank you enough, I don't want to impose any more but how will we visit him"
This confused the magicals
"Petunia this is your room we thought you would both want to stay near Dudley"
The Dursleys were in total shock, the people they had been rude and dismissive to were going to save their son because they still considered them family.
Madam Pomfret entered the room
"If you would like to see Dudley he will be asleep for at least two days but he is out of danger"
Exiting their room they found Harry waiting with Amelia
"Auntie Tuni, this is my bestest Teddy can you give him to Dudley to help him feel better"
The woman knelt in front of the small boy and looked into her sisters eyes
"that is a wonderful thing for you to do but can I have a hug it would help me feel better as well"
The young boys face split into a wide grin as he leapt into her arms. Over the next two weeks the barriers between the two world's were broken down. It was a lack of knowledge of each others way of life that created most conflict.
After two days Dudley was awake and sitting up in bed. Harry and Susan insisted on spending most of their day with Dudley. Sirius put a TV in the room and Dudley took great pride in teaching his cousins about his world. Once the boy was out of bed and only staying for observation the three became inseparable with Neville visiting regularly the three became four. Neville and Dudley formed a very strong bond both declaring that they were best friends
Present day
The three boys walked into the noisy house to find all their year mates laughing and joking. Susan had stayed at the Grangers the previous night while Harry had been at Grimmuld Place. She was the first to see the three boys. She ran and jumped on Dudley
"Dud how was Christmas? we missed you"
"Aunt Marge"
Her brother and boyfriend grimaced at the name
"It wasn't that bad she tried to hint that Dad should give her money because her business was falling, then her bull dog tried to bite me. Dad told her to control the beast, when she tried to blame me. Mum practically told her to piss off"
They all laughed, Hermione had been in the kitchen with her mum when they arrived. Returning to the group her eyes met Harry's they both smiled as she walked directly towards them. Neville nudged Dudley and motioned towards Harry. Dudley smiled and went to sign a comment Neville pushed his hands down, you never know what someone will say when they think no one can hear
"is that the girl"
"Yep"
"he's got it bad"
Susan smiled and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. Before she got to Harry she found an arm through hers.
"Hi Sarah, I'm just going to say hello to Harry and ill be with you"
"I want an intro to the hunk with then before the other girls see him"
Hermione kept smiling she hadn't noticed anyone else after meeting Harry's eyes.
"Hello handsome"
"wotcha gorgeous"
Their private bubble was broken when Dudley and Neville both received a smack to the head for their simultaneous vomit impression. Sarah laughed and Dudley was lost in the sound
Neville decided to get the introductions going
"Hermione, Sarah this is Dudley my best mate and Harry's cousin"
Dudley extended his hand Hermione shook it quickly
"pleasure to finally meet you I've heard a lot about you"
"same here"
He then extended his hand to Sarah
"D-D-Dudley D-Dursley"
The athletic blond haired blue eye tom boy did something she had not done before, Sarah giggled, blushed madly and Buried her face on her hands. Petunia walked over
"you six are in the wagon with me"
They all turned to look at the perfect replica of BA's van.
"If you have a problem"
"If no one else can help"
"And if you can find them"
"Maybe you can hire The A-TEAM"
The last line chimed by the three boys in unison
Harry and Neville bent forward lifted their girlfriend's onto their shoulder and marched towards the van. Dudley and Sarah were left standing not sure what to do. It was Sarah who broke the stale mate.
"Mr Dursley I seem to be awaiting rescue"
The smile she was rewarded with would have made her swoon if she new what swooning was. He then lent forward and lifted her with ease. Being like Neville a little big for his age and constant rugby with the team he played for the boy was built. Forget Neville this was the only boy she wanted to be carried off by.
After breakfast the group split Hermione and Jamie had both been offered tickets to the football but would not betray their beloved Spurs. So it was a perfect girls and boys split.
The group of boys loved the football, Dudley had seemed a bit preoccupied and had a lot of questions about Hermione and Susan's roommate. At half time Harry's mirror chimed in his pocket he went to the bathroom and sat in a stall. There was a message from Hermione I think Sarah has a crush on Dudley. Harry replied If its half as bad as we are getting I feel sorry for you. Hermione replied leave it with us, can Dudley dance?

He got all the way back to his seat in the stands before he realised what he had written and blushed. Hermione had spotted it straight away and was beaming when she approached the mums with her plan.
