A/N: A little drama in this chapter, but nothing too crazy 😊

Chapter 31

Arizona's POV

After a great dinner at a steak house that had been recommended to them by a fellow golfer, Arizona and Tim found themselves at a rooftop bar that was packed. It wasn't much of a surprise it was crowded, between the PGA golfing this weekend and the basketball game that was taking place down the street, it was a busy week in Los Angeles. Arizona had thankfully found a booth towards the back and waited for Tim to return with their drinks. Looking down at her phone she made sure to send Callie a quick goodnight text and she slipped it back into her pocket. There was really only one person who she cared about reaching out to her and she was currently sleeping, considering it was 1 am in Miami.

"Hey sorry that took a minute, this place is a zoo." Tim said as he flopped down into the booth.

"No worries. I am not in a hurry." Arizona said taking a drink of her vodka cranberry. "Woah, this bartender is heavy handed." She winced as she choked it down.

"Ohh AZ is a lightweight now?" Tim joked.

"Ha ha. So funny. So, tell me Timothy, how are things with Teddy?" she wiggled her eyebrows as she asked.

"Perfect. Amazing all of the above? She is awesome Arizona. This is it; I can feel it. I have been into her for SO long. I feel like I am going to mess it up ya know?"

"Oh Tim. I am so happy for you. Honestly, I didn't even know you felt that way about her. Call me a shitty sister, but I was shocked at The Race when you two ended up together."

"Well how do I approach you and say heyyyy, I love your manager/best friend? How would that have gone over?"

"True. Just know I am happy for you two and you have my support. But, if you hurt her I will kill you myself." Arizona flashed a dimple smile.

"What the hell? Isn't that what you are supposed to tell her? I am your brother." Tim joked like he was hurt.

"Teddy has always been into you; I have known that. So, I have had the discussion with her in a hypothetical manner. You on the other hand, you are the one in the equation who would do something dumb. Just like with Calliope and I. I know I would be the one to mess it up. She is too perfect."

"Arizona you seriously have it SO BAD. I never thought I would see the day where you would be like this. That girl must have superpowers…. if you know what I mean." He winked at her.

"Timothy Daniel. I will not discuss that with you, and you will not think about her like that. I will leave it at this…She is perfect in all ways." Arizona smiled just thinking about her girlfriend. "I am going to marry her one day."

Arizona watched as Tim spit beer out of his mouth. He started coughing like he was choking, and she hit him in the back.

"Arizona Robbins…. married….and a step-mother…..?" He said shocked.

"If only I were that lucky. Sofia and Callie are amazing. I know it hasn't been long, but I am done with anyone else." The sincerity in her voice was clear.

They continued to talk and catch up. Arizona was really enjoying their time together and was feeling a buzz from the drinks she was consuming. Surprising to both Arizona and Tim there were quite a few "fans" that approached them for pictures and autographs. This was not something either of them were used to. Everyone was nice and hung out to chat for a bit. As the night was winding down Arizona decided that it was time to head back to the hotel. As she was settling her tab the bar tender was telling her about some guy making a fool of himself earlier causing Arizona to start cracking up. As she was laughing, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and a pair of lips pressed against her ear.

"Let's get out of here." The random person whispered in her ear.

Quickly turning around Arizona shoved the girl back. "Woah, I think you have the wrong person." She quickly responded.

"Oh, come on Arizona. Look at this picture we took earlier. Look how low your hand is on my waist and the smile on your face. Clearly we were flirting while we were talking." The brunette that was not her brunette walked closer, putting both hands on her sides pinning her to the bar.

Arizona didn't want to put her hands on the girl, but she was really uncomfortable. "Listen you need to back up okay. I am not interested. I am just paying my tab. I am sorry if you thought I was flirting. It was not intentional. I am very much in a relationship."

Still not taking the hint, she saw Tim approaching them. She locked eyes with him pleading for his help.

"Everything okay?" Tim asked putting himself between Arizona and the brunette.

"Everything is just fine, right Arizona?" The brunette responded while winking at Arizona and walking away.

"What the hell was that Arizona?" Tim asked harshly.

"I don't even want to talk about it. I want to go back to the hotel, now." She signed the tab leaving a very generous tip and stormed out of the bar.

This was going to be a fun conversation with Callie.

Callie's POV

Waking up for the 5th day in a row without Arizona was a little easier. She noticed the pillow next to her was currently occupied by her favorite little girl. Rolling over to look at the clock on her nightstand Callie noticed it was 8:30. Realizing it was Saturday, she rolled back over and was about to fall back asleep. She felt her phone vibrate and assumed it was something work related. When she picked up her phone she saw 2 missed calls from Aria and 1 from Mark, a text from Arizona, as well as a few Instagram notifications. Callie didn't really use social media that much, but Arizona being a professional athlete was pretty active on it to keep her sponsors happy. They had jokingly set up notifications on Callie's Instagram to alert her of things about Arizona. Arizona jokingly said it was so she wouldn't forget about her while she was gone. Like that could happen.

Opening up the text first Callie smiled at the sweet good night message that Arizona had sent her. Next she opened the Instagram notifications it looks like Arizona had gone out to a bar the night before, just like she said she was going to. Arizona was tagged in about 20 pictures. Quickly scrolling through them it looked like she got to meet a lot of fans while out and about. Callie was happy for her. She was finally getting the recognition she deserved. Just as Callie was about to set the phone down and go back to sleep the last tagged picture of Arizona caught her eye. It was posted by "browneyedhottie23" and the caption read What a memorable night. The corresponding photo showed a brunette with her hands around Arizona's waist whispering in her ear. Arizona seemed to be laughing and smiling. What the fuck?

Realizing sleep was not going to happen she got out of bed and left her room. Sofia did not have to hear nor deal with this. Knowing that there had to be a reasonable explanation for this, Callie tried to stay calm. Feeling the need to talk to Arizona she pulled up her number in her phone. Before she hit the call button she stopped. It was 5:30am in California right now. She couldn't call and wake her up. Deciding that Aria was the next best thing, she dialed her sister's number.

"Cal are you okay?" Aria asked

"Um, I am okay. Why wouldn't I be?" Callie tried to see what her sister was talking about before giving it away.

"Have you not seen Instagram…?"

"You have alerts on Arizona, ya creep." Callie tried to joke to keep herself from crying.

"Well yeah. I use to like her and I am a certified Instagram stalker, you know that. But for real. What the hell is going on Callie?" Aria asked. Callie could tell her sister was 2 seconds away from losing her mind. She had always been so protective.

"I don't know Aria. I just woke up and saw it. I haven't talked to her yet it is too early for me to call her in California."

"Fuck that Cal. Wake her up and see what the hell she was thinking. Call her and then call me! Mark is here ready to hop on a plane!" Callie could hear Mark in the background. Those two together were really something.

"Okay, I am going to call her. Thank you for listening. No one needs to hop on a plane. Just let me talk to her okay?"

"Alright. I love you, Hermana." Aria said before hanging up.

Callie paced her living room, knowing Sofia was going to wake up soon she decided to just bite the bullet and call. Dialing Arizona's number, she held her breath.

*Hello, you have reached-* Her phone is off?

Now Callie was pissed. Who turns their phone off? Maybe it died… Callie was trying not to freak out. She did know that Tim was up at 5:30 for runs every day, no matter what…..No. She wasn't going to call him. She opened Instagram and took a screen shot of the picture. She was not going to let this ruin her day, no way. Deciding she needed to busy herself she decided to start breakfast. She was going to enjoy her day off with Sofia. She would talk to Arizona later.

As she prepped breakfast she heard little feet coming her way.

"Good Morning Mija" Callie said way too enthusiastically

"Morning Mami. What are you smiling like that?" Sofia asked in a sleepy voice.

"Like what?" Callie was confused.

"Like your face is about to break."

"Oh, sorry. Just happy to see you this morning." Callie made a mental note to tone it down.

"Can we Face Time Arizona after breakfast? I want to show her the golf balls I bought for when she comes back and teaches me." Ugh. She should have known. She mentioned to Sofia they could Face Time Arizona over the weekend.

"We will see sweetie, here eat some french toast and then we will get ready for the day. I want to do something fun!" Callie quickly tried to distract Sofia. There was no way in hell she was Face Timing anyone until she spoke to her.

As the morning progressed, Sofia did a fantastic job of keeping Callie distracted. Before she even realized it the time was already 11:00. She told Sofia to go hop in the shower and they would head to the beach since it was such a nice day. Before the sentence even left Callie's lips Sofia was sprinting towards the bathroom. As Callie was cleaning up the giant mess that hurricane Sofia created her phone started ringing. She froze, knowing who's ringtone it was. With shaking hands, she picked up the phone.

"Hello beautiful. How are you this morning." Arizona's chipper voice came through the phone. To say Callie was a bit confused would be an understatement.

"Um. Hi." Callie responded. She couldn't help her tone, she was pissed.

"Ooookay. Is everything okay Calliope?" Arizona seemed to be clueless. For someone who was on Instagram as much as Arizona was, Callie thought the blonde had to be playing dumb.

"No. Not really…I tried to call you this morning and your phone was off."

"Yeah I am an idiot and didn't put it on the charger. I had a bit too much to drink last night and kind of just passed out when I got back here. Sorry about that babe. I missed you though. A bar just is not the same without you."

At that Callie let out a sarcastic laugh. She couldn't even hold it in anymore.

"Okay what is the problem Callie?" She heard Arizona getting frustrated.

"The problem is that you seemed to get pretty cozy with someone at the bar last night and you haven't even acknowledged it." Silence…..

"Yeah. That is what I thought. It is on Instagram. Seems like you had and, I quote, a memorable night." Callie's anger was now evident in her voice.

"Callie I am looking on Instagram right now and I don't know what you are talking about. There are pictures with fans, that is it. It was actually pretty weird to have people ask for a photo."

Callie pulled up Instagram and scrolled all the way to the bottom. The picture was gone…..what the hell? Callie sent the screen shot to Arizona.

"I just sent you what I woke up to." Callie stated. She silently waited for Arizona to receive the text. When she heard the blonde shuffling her phone on the other side she patiently waited for her response. She heard Arizona mumble a very clear "what the fuck" and waited for the blonde to acknowledge her.

"Calliope…. I-I this is not what it looks like. I swear." Arizona's voice was soft now, almost scared?

"Arizona listen. I get that you are a hot shot golfer now. You are good looking and successful. I do not like being insecure. So, if you want to be out there having fun, I need you to tell me. Now. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here and a chance to explain but you have to understand this looks bad…."

"I know it does, trust me. If this was you I would have been calling you nonstop this morning and I am really sorry my phone was dead while you were trying to get a hold of me. I can't imagine what you must have been thinking all morning. But I swear to you, nothing happened. I was laughing at something the bartender had said and then this random chick came up to me and put her arms around me and whispered something. I pushed her away immediately and told her I was very much taken…. you can ask Tim. He ended up putting himself between us two because she just wouldn't leave me alone. You can call him Calliope, I swear." Callie could hear that Arizona was on the verge of tears. She told herself she would give Arizona a chance to explain and she sounded genuine. The thought of her girlfriend with anyone else was enough to make her want to get sick. She was broken from her thoughts by some commotion on the other line. Hearing a "what the hell?" Callie was concerned.

"Arizona? Are you there?"

"Yeah. I am here. Tim is in the shower, but you can talk to him as soon as he gets out. Baby I swear I- "

"Arizona. I believe you. I just needed to talk to you about it. You can see why I would be a little concerned, no?"

"I swear Callie nothing – wait, what? You believe me?" Arizona had told Callie a few times about the drama her only 2 previous relationships had held. So, it was not necessarily surprising that Callie's immediate trust was blindsiding.

"Yes Arizona. I don't need to talk to Tim. I believe what you are telling me. You have not given me a reason to doubt you. Pair that with the fact the picture is magically gone, I don't really see why I shouldn't trust you." Callie's sincerity was evident in her voice. She heard Arizona sniffling on the other line.

"I am so sorry Calliope. I should never have been in that position." Arizona said through tears.

"Arizona…. you went to the bar with your brother. I just feel bad you got felt up against your will. We are fine. Honestly. I do feel bad for that chick if I ever see her. But calm down. There is no reason to cry." She soothed her girlfriend.

"God I love you and I miss you. I really don't know what to do with myself in a healthy relationship…. I feel like you should be yelling at me?" Arizona joked.

"I mean I can yell if you want…I would just prefer to move past this considering I love you and miss you too. That paired with the face Sofia won't stop asking to Face Time you. I don't really want to fight with you."

As Callie finished her sentence she heard Tim's voice in the background. "Hey Cal!" he called.

"Hi Tim" Callie laughed. She heard what sounded like wrestling on the other end of the line?

"Callie I want to apologize about that Instagram thing. I messaged the chick this morning before my run and told her she better remove it because we both know that is not how that interaction went down. The chick was crazy.

"Well thanks Tim, Arizona already told me. But I appreciate the clarification."

Laughing at the bickering she could hear Arizona and Tim engaging in on the other line, she looked up as she heard Sofia's bedroom door slam closed. "Ready Mami!" She was already in her bathing suit.

"Is that Sofia? Can I switch to Face Time? If-if it is okay with you." Arizona sounded insecure. Callie didn't like it.

"Yes, I will switch you now. We are good Arizona. Seriously, I trust you until you give me a reason not to, okay?"

"Okay. I love you, Calliope."

"I love you too. Now cover your ears because she is going to lose her mind." Callie laughed.

Sofia had monopolized Callie's phone for 25 minutes talking to Arizona about her golf balls, their plans for the day, basically recapping the last 4 days of school and showing her all the pictures, she colored over the last few days. Callie had to give it to her girlfriend, she was patient with Sofia. She could tell that Arizona was still feeling off about the whole Instagram photo but honestly Callie was fine with it. She did trust Arizona. Trust was something that Callie didn't mess around with. While she was freaking out this morning, she knew there had to be a logical explanation. It was a little funny to hear Arizona confused that she believed her so easily. Finally taking the phone from Sofia, she looked down and saw Arizona smiling up at her.

"I am going to call you later okay. I promised this one we would head to the beach and I am sure you are hungry. It has been an eventful morning already." Callie joked.

"The beach, without me?! I am jealous." She saw Arizona pout.

"I promise there will be plenty of days at the beach when you get back. Go get breakfast and I want to Face Time tonight." Callie winked.

"Call me anytimetoday. I am going to do a practice round with Tim, then we are relaxing. I will be impatiently waiting for your call. I love you so much Calliope. Thank you for being so amazing."

Callie couldn't laugh at her girlfriend's enthusiasm. "I love you too. Enjoy your day and we will talk soon."

Callie hung up and grabbed her beach bag. "Let's go Sof!" she headed towards the door. She was already counting down the minutes until she got some alone time on video chat with her blonde.

A/N: Alright, a little bit of drama. Sadly, my best friend dated an athlete for a while and that is just the reality. Seeing stuff that requires an explanation. So many fan fics portray Callie as insecure and hot headed. While that is in line with her Grey's character I wanted to show some maturity. She has a 6-year-old daughter and flying off the handle might be justified, but wanted to show her mature side here.
