In the car Olivia started the conversation. So, you do anything nice for New Year's? Yeah Amanda and I brought it in together he smiled. How about you? Yeah, Rafael came over and the 3 of us watched the ball drop, Noah was still sleeping when I left this morning she laughed. Nick laughed, has Barba got him today? He does, it means Lucy can have the weekend off. So, everything go ok in LA? Yeah, he said, it was busy, but it was nice to see them, spent some time with my mum in Miami, and then back home. I spent the rest of my time off with Rollins he smiled again. Sounds serious with you two she said looking at him. Yeah, look I know it's only been 2 weeks, but honestly….. he shook his head, I've never been happier, I'm in a good place now, and it's thanks to Amanda. Couldn't have happened at a better time I don't think, she looked at him, and he smiled, well New Year, New start he said and shrugged his shoulders. You really like her don't you? she said. Yeah, I do was the reply. Actually, I more than like her, and have done for a long time. I know said Olivia, and he looked at her, hey I pick up on things, you've always been protective of Rollins. And she has of you. Tell me if I'm talking out of place but, you needed that divorce Nick, and I'm shocked it took you this long to get with Rollins. Nick smiled, hmmm he said, you couldn't have told me this about 2 years ago Liv? And he laughed. Well, we've got to figure these things out ourselves Nick. So, how's Gil and Zara? They're good he said, I spoke to them last night, they're coming here on Thursday to spend the weekend with me. Oh good, have you any plans? Nothing yet, I'll wait and see what they want to do. They're just excited about travelling down together. They coming on their own? No, Maria's flying down with them he said. Oh, she replied, yeah, her and Cynthia have been friendly apparently and meeting up so the kids can spend more time together, and it's helping my mum out too. Hey, as long as I don't have to spend time with Maria, and the kids get along, I'm ok with it. Do they know about you and Amanda yet? No, he replied, but I'm telling them at the weekend. So, we'll see how that goes. Is Amanda off next weekend? No, he sighed, it's her weekend on. But they both know her, so we'll see what happens, but they'll just have to get used to it Liv, I have to live my own life to and I have to be happy. She smiled, you're right there Nick.
Back at the station Carrisi was talking to Amanda about the statements. She then looked at the time, crap I forgot about Fin and ran up to wake him. Thanks Rollins he said, I needed that nap. Back at their desks Carrisi said so Rollins you do anything nice last night for New Year's? I actually stayed up this year to see the New Year in she laughed. Usually I'm in bed long before midnight, or I'm working. What about you? Yeah, we had a family party at my parent's house. Had I known you had no plans you could have joined us. She wasn't on her own said Fin, Nick was with her. Amanda blushed and wanted to hit him. Aww thanks Carrisi, Nick called over and we had some food and a few drinks. He left before midnight though so he could call his kids up in LA. Oh, he said, I didn't realise he was on his own here too. Fin said well he has friends here I know that, but he hasn't been in a party mood recently, he's had a tough year. Yeah replied Amanda, so I told him to call over for a while, especially as we had work today, so it worked out for both of us she smiled.
At that Nick and Olivia arrived back. Hello beautiful people Nick said as he draped his coat over the chair looking at Amanda, who you calling beautiful Amaro? said Fin. Nick walked over to him and said all 3 of you hugging him. Hey hey, enough of that Amaro. So I'm not beautiful then? thanks Nick, Fin laughed well you walked into that one Nick, I didn't say you weren't beautiful Liv he said and walked over to her and kissed her cheek, however I have been with you all morning, but just to be sure hello beautiful he said to her smiling. She laughed and said, I'm only joking. He walked over to Amanda and kissed her cheek and squeezed her then over to Carrisi, who put his hands up, hey no hugs or kisses here Amaro he laughed, I'll do a handshake though and they both laughed. Is he always like this? asked Carrisi. Liv, Fin and Amanda replied at the same time No. Thanks guys Nick said, well he's been in a funny mood a few weeks now said Fin, but I'm glad to see it instead of angry Nick, so whatever it is, is making him happy then he better keep on at it. Amanda blushed, Nick grinned, and Liv laughed. Thanks man, I intend to. New Year new start and all of that he said. Good man replied Fin, I'm glad to hear it and walked over to him and hugged him. OK who's this guy and where is the real Fin said Liv. They laughed again.
It was nearing lunchtime and they had made a big break in the case. Amanda, Fin and Carrisi were out making the arrest Liv and Nick were at the station finishing off evidence in her office. When those 3 get back, you, Rollins and Fin head out for lunch Nick, we can let the perp sweat in the cell for a while. Rollins and Fin need a break, they've been at it from early. Yeah, he said, I'll take the 2 of them out for something to eat and chill out time. Oh, I don't mean for that, if you and Amanda want to head on your own…. Nah he said, don't worry Liv he smiled. Anyway, maybe it's time we told Fin about us, I don't like keeping secrets from him you know. Olivia smiled. Yeah, I do, I told him about me and Rafael a few days ago. Yeah? He said. How did that go? Good she laughed, he hugged me and said he was glad I have found someone to make me happy. She started to well up. Nick put his arm around her we all are Liv and rubbed her arm. She laughed he kissed her temple as he let her go and said, New start for all of us this year? She looked and said, you know what, it is Nick and they both smiled. Amanda walked in on them and said we're back. You two OK? she asked as she walked over to sit down. We are Olivia replied, we were just saying about a New Year new start for us all, and Amanda smiled, yeah it is. Olivia got up and walked out to speak to Fin leaving Amanda and Nick alone. Hey bonita, uh-huh she replied. I was thinking, how about we take Fin out to lunch and let him know what's got me so happy? She looked at him and smiled. Sounds good baby she said. I'm hating keeping this secret from him, I tell him everything. He discreetly took her hand I know mi cariño me too. They headed out to their desks. Olivia said ok Nick and you two you're on lunch now. Amanda and Fin went to protest and she said no, you two need a break, you've been at it since the early hours, so off you go, Nick you make sure they take their full hour. OK he said, you two lets go I'm driving. Fin went to protest, Fin if you don't get into my car, I will have to shoot you he replied. Wow, OK, where did nice Amaro go? I like him better, and Nick laughed. When they got to the diner Amanda climbed into the window seat and Nick sat beside her, Fin sat across from them. They ordered their food and drink and chatted about what they done the night before. Nick then cleared his throat and said, look Fin, I've got something I want to tell you, Amanda took in a breath squeezed Nicks leg and said, actually so do I. Fin sat back and said if this isn't good news, I will shoot you both. They both laughed. And if one or both of you are telling me you're leaving I don't wanna know. In trouble I can deal with and I'll sort you, leaving I don't want to hear it. They both looked at each other and smiled, Nick nodded his head, you go 1st then you're his partner, and he sat back and put his hand on her leg under the table. Well the thing is Fin, she said, I don't like keeping secrets from you, so I need to tell you this, Fin looked at Nick, and does Nick know? She smiled and said well yeah, he does, so he knew before me Rollins? Amanda took in a breath, well, he kind of had to know 1st she laughed, he is my secret Fin. Fin looked at her, and she said, Nick and I are seeing each other. She scrunched up her nose nervously. Nick sat forward again, and Amanda is what I wanted to talk to you about he said quietly. Hell, guys about freakin' time he said. That's why you've been so happy recently Amaro, and Nick blushed, well yeah it is he said smiling. Fin got up and reached over to hug Amanda, then hugged Nick. I'm delighted for you guys he said, and he looked at Nick, hey you look after my girl he warned. Nick let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding and said, oh I will Fin don't worry, and Rollins you look after my boy here, oh don't worry Fin I will and she blushed, put her head and arm on Nick and said, we'll look after each other won't we? He looked down at her and put his other hand to her cheek, of course we will he smiled. Fin then said, so how long have you been together? he asked, just 2 weeks yesterday actually said Amanda, damn you two waited long enough he said, and they both blushed, and you've both got it bad he said, they laughed, yeah I think we do Nick said looking at her grinning. I'm just shocked it took you both this long to be honest guys I noticed the chemistry since you both started SVU. Of course you were married Nick and I respect you for not crossing that line, but hell, you should have went for her as soon as those papers were signed, man I would have went for it before the papers were signed. Nick sighed yeah well I was stupid, wasn't I? But I always believe God has a reason for things and he gave me Amanda at just the right time. Amanda blushed and Fin smiled, well he took his time Nick, but he got you there in the end. Don't let the new guy know though said Fin, I'm still trying to work him out. They both agreed, no just you and Liv know they said. Liv knows? Well yeah, she got it out of me when I spent the day with her and Noah for Christmas, and Nick said, and Fin, we know about her and Barba. Amanda looked at her and Fin saw her panicked face, hey it's ok Rollins Liv told me a few days ago. How did you know that Fin knew though Nick? well I had mentioned to her about telling Fin at lunch, and she told me then. Aw Ok then she relaxed, Fin laughed, don't worry Rollins. Food arrived and they chatted about different things. Then it was time to head back. Listen you two, thank you for telling me your secret, and I'm honoured you told me so soon, I know this will work out. He looked at them and said aw hell, Happy New Year you two and hugged them again. This is going to be the best year for you two, I can feel it. Back in the car Amanda was in the back with Fin up front with Nick. Fin said, so when I spoke to you about changing weekends Rollins, Nick looked at her in the mirror and she smiled, yeah Fin, you still OK with that offer he asked? Yeah, she said, it means I can spend time with Nick outside of here too she added. Aw yeah I didn't think of that bit, damn if Liv OK's it that will work out well for you two, they both laughed, well obviously it has Fin she said but you know I would have swapped with you anyway. Even if we weren't together. Yeah, I know girl he said, and I really appreciate it. You OK with it Nick? He asked. Hey, I'm more than OK with it man. OK seeing as we're early back I'll speak to Liv before she goes on lunch. They got back to the station with 5 minutes to spare, Hey Nick I told you not to be back here before an hour was up you had at least another 10 minutes left on the clock. That includes parking up. Nick put his hands up to say something and Fin said no it's good Liv, Amanda's across the road getting the 3 of us a coffee, and I want to speak to you if that's OK? Sure, she said and looked at Nick, should I be worried? No Fin said, OK. Carrisi you head off on your lunch then if you want, I'm heading out to see Noah when I'm done here. Thanks boss he said and got himself ready to go. Nick sat down at his desk and sighed. You Ok Amaro? Carisi asked, yeah, he replied, thanks, just a few things on my mind that's all. Good things, I hope? Yeah, he said smiling, good things he said, just a lot of work to do beforehand so trying to arrange things around work. Well if you need a hand with anything I can try and help out if I can, Nick looked at him and smiled, thanks man. With that Carrisi said he was off for lunch, have a good one Nick shouted after him. As the elevator doors opened Amanda walked out. Oh sorry Carrisi she said, no no you're ok Rollins, I'm off for lunch, see you later. Ok, enjoy and he waved her off. She carried the coffees over to Nick, hey baby she said, handing him his coffee. Lunch went well she said sitting down on the 2nd chair at his desk, yeah, he smiled, it did. I feel better for telling him now, me too she replied. Kind of makes us official doesn't it? Yeah, he smiled, no going back. Amanda sat up and leaned over, Oh I'm never going back Nick, If I get my way, you're mine forever, she sat back smiling, he grinned and cleared his throat. I'd like that he replied quietly. I'd like that a lot. She blushed and said, we'll see and raised her eyebrows. She took a drink of her coffee just as Olivia called over to her. Rollins, can I talk to you for a second? She swallowed her coffee and put the cup down, sure she said, and walked into the office. So, Fin has been talking to me about needing to swap weekends, yeah, said Rollins, I told him that I don't mind swapping with him if it's OK with you. Yeah, I just want to make sure you're still on board with this before I sign off on the papers, yes of course, she said, I'm more than happy to swap. I only do my shopping or sit in the house anyway so no big deal. Ok then Olivia said, if we're all happy then let's do it. Thanks Liv and thank you Rollins said Fin. Hey, it means you get to spend time with your grandson, I could never stand in the way of that if I could help it, she said. So, when's this starting from anyway? The end of the month Fin said, OK she said. And she walked back out. Right I'm off out for lunch now, you two ok to interview the perp? Sure. Ok I'll catch up when I get back.
