Amanda was first to wake the following morning at just after 7am. Nick had his arms wrapped around her resting on her stomach. She felt so refreshed, she turned around to face him, he was still sleeping soundly. She kissed his chin and gently removed herself from his arms. She slipped out of bed and headed to the bathroom. When she came out, he was still sleeping so she went out to the kitchen and started to make some breakfast of fruit and yoghurt for herself. She made some for Nick and sat it aside for him. She then set about cleaning the kitchen and putting dishes away quietly. She went to the living room and gave the surfaces a wipe down and fixed the cushions on the couch. She put the washing machine on and sat down. She looked at the clock, it was 7.45. Wow, I've got a lot done this morning she said. She then thought about going for a jog. She headed back into the bedroom and Nick started to stir. She saw him feel the bed for her and he woke up looking to her side. She smiled, I'm over here mi amor and he turned to her. I missed you he said, and she smiled. She walked over to her side again and climbed back in and snuggled up to him. How long have you been up? Just under an hour she said. I've had breakfast, cleaned the living room and kitchen and put a wash on. I just need to hoover the living room and in here and wash the floors. Wow, you've been busy he said, yeah I have and she kissed his lips gently. She looked into his eyes, you know last night was the 1st night since we got together that we never had sex. He lost his smile, yeah, he said, I've been thinking about that too, she stroked the side of his face, hey, it's ok Nick we'll get used to it I promise she said and kissed him again. Right come on she said, let's go for a run and she got up and went to get ready.
An hour later they were back at the house after a jog. Oh I needed that he said, yeah, me too she replied. We need to start doing that more often she said. Yeah, he replied, but not in the morning maybe when we get home from work. She looked at him confused, I like my new morning workout as it is thanks, and he smiled and winked at her. She blushed and laughed. Yeah, I like that one too. Ok maybe when we get home from work then she laughed. As Nick went to make them both an omelette to eat Amanda went in for a shower. She came out with just her bathrobe on he had just dished hers up and he said, hey babe keep an eye on mine there I'll nip in for a quick shower now. He kissed her head as he walked past her. 5 minutes later he was back out in just a towel around his waist sitting down at the table with her eating breakfast. After they had finished it was just before 10am. Are you coming with me this morning to meet the agent? he asked. She looked, if you want me there, I'll come with you she said smiling. I want you there Amanda, he said. We're starting this new journey together, you've been with me from the start of it, so I want you there with me today, he looked at her with a small smile and her heart melted. She walked over to him and sat on his lap. Ok then mi amor, we'll go together, and she kissed him. Before things got any further, she said, but 1st we have to get ready for the day and I want to mop those floors before we leave. Ok he said, I'll hoover the floors, you mop. Deal she said. While he went in to get ready, she filled the mop bucket. Then she followed him into the room. Both dressed and cleaning done they were out in his car in less than 30minutes. They arrived at his house and he sighed. You ok mi amor? Yeah, he said, just can't wait until I don't have to come back here. He smiled a sad smile and she said, you really don't like it that much sure you don't? They walked in and he sat on the couch and she sat beside him. Don't get me wrong Amanda I had some great times here, and some great memories. This was Zara's 1st home, this is where I started married life, where we found out we were expecting Zara and all that. But the last few years, it's been arguing, me sleeping on this couch, anger and tears. Only the last couple of weeks there has been happiness again, and it's because of you. But I don't want to be surrounded with bad memories and especially memories of Maria. She ran her hand up and down his arm. Ok she said. You know as long as you're happy I don't care where you are, as long as you're not too far away from me that is. He put his arm around her and kissed her. Don't worry mi amor, I'm not going too far from you. She smiled and kissed him again. Ok let's get the windows open, and we'll tidy up a bit for the photos to be taken. He smiled. I can't wait. The agent arrived a few minutes past 11am. He walked round the house, took photos for the listing and told Nick how much he would expect to ask for the house. Amanda went out onto the porch while Nick spoke to the agent and walked down to the bottom of the drive to look up at the house. It's a lovely house she said to herself, it's such a shame Nick feels so much sadness in it now. And it's all down to Maria. He walked out of the front door with the agent and they joined her. He noticed she was lost in thought, and she looked sad. As the agent took photos of the outside Nick put his arm around her. You OK? She took a breath in and rubbed her chilly arms, yeah, she said, smiling at him. Just thinking about you, and this place. He kissed her head, don't think about it anymore mi amor. It's all sorted. He pulled her closer and kissed her temple. It's all sorted he sighed again, smiling. She looked up and saw him smiling and she smiled and squeezed him tighter.
After the agent left Nick said, OK mi reina, off to our new house, she smiled and playfully hit his chest, YOUR new house Nick, he laughed, for now mi reina, for now, he kissed her as he opened the door for her. They got into the car and drove to the new house. On the way Nick told her what the agent had said. He has a few people in mind already for the house he said, and he's asking more than what I expected for it too. Really? Yeah, more than what I paid for it anyway, I didn't expect it to go for more than that. As long as I got my money back, I was happy, but he's confident. If you're happy then that's all that matters Nick. When they pulled up into the driveway Amanda got butterflies in her stomach and had a big smile on her face. He turned the engine off and turned to her. After staring at her for a minute he smiled and said, "Hey babe, you OK over there?" She turned to him still smiling, but with tears in her eyes. Mmhmm she could only reply. Hey he whispered "Que esta mal mi amor?" She laughed, "nothing is wrong honey," she smiled, "I promise, Just," she shrugged her shoulders, "I just feel so, so, lucky right now, and I'm excited for what lies ahead for us." She looked at him and took his hand and kissed it. He smiled and leaned over to her and kissed her passionately. Me neither he replied. And the sooner this house becomes our home, he smiled at her stroking her face, the better, and he kissed her again. They got out of the car and walked up the path hand in hand and into the house. When they walked in, she took in a big breath and let it out. He put his arm around her, "You still OK he asked?" "Mmhmm" she said and put her arms around his waist and reached up to kiss him. Let's go have a look around again he said. They held hands as they walked around. I think we should switch these rooms around a bit he said. I like these carpets too he said. They were only replaced last year. Yeah, she said. We can just put protective covering over them until the decorating is done. Then get them cleaned. They walked into the dining room, we'll get a new floor put the whole way through here though he said, to match the kitchen. What about this room on the other side of the kitchen she said, what you thinking of doing with this? I don't know he said, we've another sitting room there, I want that as the main one though as it's bigger. Maybe put the table and chairs here, and we could turn the other side into a playroom for the kids? Hmm she said and went over to look at the other room. You're thinking something else? Well I'm thinking down the line, kind of, she blushed. But never mind, the big living room could be the family living room the other one could be just a you and me living room maybe? OK he said leaning against the worktop, talk to me about your thoughts, your down the line thoughts he said grinning and pulled her towards him. He rested his hands on her hips. Aw nothing she blushed; it could never happen so no point in them. No, he said, tell me. She sighed and blushed. Well…. I was just thinking IF we were to have our own kids…. And remember I said IF, he grinned, yeah, well if we're in the living room and they're napping or playing, I'd like to be able to keep an eye on them still and that room over there is better for that. But as I said Nick, that's way down the line, we could switch the rooms around, or as I said, use the smaller room for me and you just. He smiled. No, I like that thought he said softly. He looked over again, and I can see that scene he said. Hey, she said it's you're house, you do what you want. He looked in her eyes again…. OUR house eventually he whispered. She smiled and he pulled her closer, cupped her face with his hands and kissed her softly. Our's he whispered again. He leant his forehead against hers and they stood there holding hands. OK she said. We can talk about it later down the line again. And she raised his hand up to her mouth and kissed it. At that moment the doorbell rang, and he sighed. Great timing. She laughed, well the sooner we get talking to them the sooner it gets started. He went to answer the door as she stood against the worktop looking at both rooms.
