A/N: Sorry for no chapter last week. It was hectic. Enjoy!

Chapter 39

Callie's POV

Surprising the blonde had been a great idea. This is the first time Callie had seen Arizona so relaxed. They had been at the gala for about 2 hours now. Enjoying the company of other golfers and their family. Not everyone had a plus one since the golfers lived throughout the U.S.. But many significant others and random dates accompanied Arizona's peers. Seeing the respect Arizona had earned from her fellow golfers in just 3 short weeks amazed Callie. She was so proud to call the blonde hers. She had successfully stayed near Arizona the whole evening, but she made it a point to hang back a bit and let her gorgeous girlfriend enjoy her time with her friends. Callie was pleasantly surprised to see Jo Karev had flown in for the gala. Callie and Jo had attended the same college and had been friendly.

"Jo! So good to see you." Callie gave Jo a hug and couldn't help but smile at how much the other woman had grown and seemed to be thriving.

"Callie. So good to see you too. When Alex mentioned Arizona was dating you I was so excited. I didn't even realize you were still in Miami!" Jo and Callie had a few classes together in school, but mostly hung around the same crowds. Which is how they know each other.

"Yeah. Joined the family business." Callie smiled as she responded. As she felt a hand on the small of her back, she turned and was met with the deep blue eyes she loved so much. When she turned back to Jo she noticed Alex had joined them as well. He was whispering to Jo and Callie noticed how Alex's hand ghosted over Jo's stomach. Callie looked over at Arizona with a raised eyebrow, motioning with her eyes to Jo's stomach. Arizona just smiled and shook her head. Callie didn't say anything incase Alex wasn't supposed to share the news yet. She remembered from college Jo didn't have any family and grew up in the system. She was so happy for her and Alex. That was one lucky baby. She was snapped out of her daydream by Jo.

"Did you hear me, Callie?" Jo asked.

"No, sorry. Zoned out for a minute. What's up?" Callie smiled at the brunette.

"I said, I think I saw our old American history teacher around here somewhere. Weird right?"

Jo didn't realize what her words did to Callie. The brunette froze. "Um what?" Callie croaked out.

"Yeah, Mr. Johnson or something. Guy was an ass." Jo joked.

"Excuse me. I have to use the restroom." Callie quickly mumbled out and made a beeline for the door.

Arizona's POV

Arizona was enjoying the time she was having with her fellow golfers and Callie. She was so surprised when she opened her apartment door. When she saw the Latina on the other side, this gala was at the bottom of things to do.

Arizona and Alex were chatting with Tim and Teddy at the bar when she saw that Callie and Jo had finally bumped into each other. She excused herself from Tim and Teddy and told Alex she was headed over to the other women, and he followed.

They were having an innocent conversation when Callie suddenly froze. She watched as all the color drained from her lover's face. Jo was mentioning something about seeing an old teacher and Callie's reaction was enough to tell Arizona who it was. She watched as Callie quickly made her way to the front door.

"Excuse me guys. Callie wasn't feeling well earlier from all the travel. Let me make sure she is okay." Arizona finessed as she headed in the direction Callie had just walked off. Alex and Jo seemed to understand and Arizona followed Callie's path.

She was halfway to the ladies' room when she was cut off by someone she vaguely recognized, and someone she couldn't miss.

"Ms. Robbins. So good to see you again. I was worried you getting me suspended would hurt this little reunion." George O'Malley smugly stated.

"Reunion?" Arizona asked. But then she really looked at the man George was standing with. It was the fan from the course the other day. The one who screamed while she shot. He also had a smug look on his face. She was staring at him when she was realized that she recognized his nose. It sounded weird, yeah, but she recognized the way it slightly hooked to the left. There was another person she knew who had the exact same nose. It was a faint curve, but she had stared at her favorite little Latina enough to recognize it. It was the only part of Sofia that was not 100% Callie. This man standing in front of her was Sofia's father.

"Eric Johnson" The man extended his hand.

Arizona just stared at him. This was the man who had hurt the love of her life so much. He had thrown money at her and told her to abort the most perfect little girl she had ever met. She was snapped out of her daze by the man's next sentence.

"You must be the one playing house with my family."

Arizona saw red. His family? She glanced over at the bar and saw Tim staring. They had a silent conversation and she watched him nod his head towards the side exit. Arizona grabbed Eric by the arm and headed to the side door. As they barreled out of the ballroom Arizona pushed Eric against the back wall.

"Listen here and listen GOOD. I am not playing house with your family. Calliope and Sofia are not your family. Do you understand me? If I EVER see you around either of them, I will end you. You do not want to mess with me or the things I love." Arizona's chest was heaving from her frustration. She watched as Tim came out of the room. She looked directly at him and said two words. "Get O'Malley". She watched as he turned around without question.

"Listen Ms. Robbins. I told Callie what I want. That sorry letter her family attorney sent was a joke. It seems she doesn't remember that my family are very good friends with the judges in Miami." Eric said with a smug smile.

Arizona's heart was beating so fast she didn't even know how she was still standing and not beating the shit out of this guy. She doubted this guy's pull was stronger than Carlos Torres's but she couldn't risk it. Not when Sofia's custody was involved.

"What do you want?" Arizona coldly asked.

"Well obviously my daughter. Implying anything else is insulting. Sofia deserves some Daddy time, wouldn't you say?" Eric faked sincerity.

Arizona saw Callie out of the corner of her eye. She just put her hand up telling her to stay where she was. Eric noticed and looked over. At that point a sickly-sweet smile crossed his face.

"Callie. Baby. SO good to see you." He turned towards her. Before he could fully face Callie, Arizona grabbed his tie and yanked him back around.

"Don't you dare speak to her. You are speaking to me right now." Arizona growled.

"Frisky. I like it. Us three could have fun." Eric leaned into Arizona's touch. "Callie always was a good time. Weren't you baby?" Eric winked to Callie.

Arizona watched as Callie just stood there. She saw the tears forming in Callie's eyes and she had had enough. The thought of the two of them together in the past made Arizona sick.

"Two million." Arizona spat out.

"Ohhh now we are talking, Robbins. But I know you won two million in one tournament."

"Come on, Eric. Two million for you to get the fuck out of here forever. Not a dollar more."

"I guess I didn't mention the photos in my letter. Would be a shame for those to leak and Sofia to see her mother like that one day." Eric laughed out.

"Photos?" Arizona asked breathlessly.

"Oh yes!" Eric exclaimed, almost giddy. "Here, let me show you. You might like them. I know I still do." Eric grabbed his phone and flipped through a few things. Then he held the phone up and Arizona had to do everything in her power to keep her face straight. She heard the cry from Callie behind her. On Eric's phone screen were photos of Callie, then Callie and Eric. They were clearly taken when the two were dating and the photos of them together about killed Arizona. Callie was naked, along with Eric. It was clear what was happening.

"Ohh come on Ms. Robbins. Can't tell me you can't tell our girl is having a good time in these photos. Shame I didn't take a video. Different times back then." Eric laughed.

"Five million. You sign away rights to Sofia. My IT team scrubs your computer, phone, and every device you have ever touched." Arizona whispered.

"AH! YES! Now you are speaking my language!" Eric clapped.

"Arizona. No." Callie said behind her.

"Callie. Enough. Go back inside. Find Teddy." Arizona's voice left no room for arguing.

"Yeah baby. Let the men work. Don't drink too much though. You always did get a little handsy. But I am in room 220 if you want to recreate the magic we use to." Eric smiled and winked at her.

Arizona didn't move. She waited until she heard the door close behind her.

"My IT team will be there tomorrow. They scrub your phone. Then they will go to your office, your home, everywhere. I swear to God, Eric. If I ever find out you have something I didn't permanently delete I will kill you. My attorneys will send you the NDA and the forms to sign away anything to Sofia. Then you go away forever." Arizona stepped closer to him. Grabbing his tie so it tightened on his neck. "If I EVER see you again. It will be the last time anyone does. Do you understand me." She could see fear flicker across his eyes.

"Yes." He responded in a whisper.

She stepped back and opened her purse. She grabbed her check book and wrote out half the amount. She dated in a week in the future to make sure he didn't take the money and run.

"Once I get everything I need from you. You get the other half."

Eric nodded and walked towards the front door. Before he walked out he turned around.

"Why give up so much for her. She isn't that special?" He asked, genuinely interested.

"I would give up everything." Arizona turned and walked to the bathroom. She walked past her brother and George O'Malley. George had a triumphant smile and Tim looked shocked at witnessing what had just happened.

She stepped into the bathroom, looked around. She saw the room was empty, so she locked the door. Her back slid down the door until she hit the floor. Then, she cried. Eric had basically just cleaned out her savings. She didn't want to leave room for negotiation. She saw his demands from the letter and she knew she had to offer that much.

Callie's POV

When Callie heard Jo say who she saw her heart stopped. He was here. Some where in this building was the man who was trying to insert himself into her life. Into her daughter's life. Callie cleaned the tears off her face and headed back out to find Arizona. It didn't take long. The beautiful blonde was easy to spot. Callie felt her stomach flip when she saw who Arizona was speaking with. Before she could even react she watched as Arizona grabbed Eric and headed for the side door. Callie felt like she was frozen to the floor. Finally shaking herself out of the daze she followed.

As she opened the door she saw Arizona inches away from Eric's face. She couldn't hear what was being said but she saw her blonde was pissed. She went to take a step towards them, but she was met with Arizona's hand up telling her not to move. That is when Eric spotted her.

"Callie. Baby. SO good to see you." Callie felt her skin crawl. What did she ever see in this guy. Before Eric could fully turn to face her she watched as Arizona yanked his neck tie turning him back around.

Callie stood there as Eric spoke to Arizona. Implying the three of them would have fun together. Then she heard it. It was in the coldest tone Callie had ever heard from Arizona.

"Two million" Callie started towards Arizona. There was no way she would let the blonde give her hard earned money to Eric. No way in hell. Before Callie could respond Eric said the word "photos". Callie went to the back of her memory to recall what photos he could be talking about. Before she could even recall she saw them. Eric was holding up his phone and right in front of her face were photos she doesn't even remember taking. She can tell when they were from though. Halloween. All those years ago. She doesn't remember that night. All she remembers is drinking way too much at some party Eric brought her to. It was right after Callie learned he was a teacher at the school she attended. She remembers wanting to enjoy what Callie assumed would be their last night together.

She saw Arizona's body visibly tense. At that, Callie let out an audible cry. Then she heard Arizona's counter offer. She felt like she was going to puke. She finally spoke up. "Arizona. No." She firmly stated.

"Callie. Enough. Go back inside. Find Teddy." Arizona's tone was so distant, she didn't even recognize it. She half heard Eric's snide comment but listened to Arizona. The blonde left no room for debate. She saw Tim standing near the door, sympathy on his face. George O'Malley looked like the cat that just go the canary. This is exactly what he wanted to happen.

As Callie walked into the ballroom Teddy immediately approached her.

"Callie, what happened?" Teddy asked. Concern lacing her voice.

"Um. I-I need to go back to Arizona's." Callie put on her professional mask. She needed to leave. Now.

"Uh..okay. Are you okay?" She asked.

Callie turned and looked at Teddy. Her lip quivered when she responded. "No." she whispered.

Teddy just shook her head and pulled out her phone. She called an Uber and walked out the main door with Callie. They were met outside by Tim and a bloody George O'Malley.

"Tim. What did you do?" Callie asked, horrified.

"Me? I have no idea what you are talking about. Do I, George?" Tim shoved the shorter man.

"N-no. I slipped." George sheepishly responded.

"Get out of here. Now. Remember what I said." Tim shoved George away.

Callie watched as George limped away. Tim looked completely unphased.

"Tim. I-I am so sorry." Callie whispered.

"Don't apologize, Callie. Those guys are scum. I would have handled the other one, but Arizona said no."

"Where is she, Tim?" Callie was now crying.

"Give her some space, Callie. She will be home soon." Tim hugged Callie as her Uber pulled up.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Teddy asked, walking towards the Uber. Callie shook her head and took the key that Tim offered to the apartment. Tim gave the Uber driver the address and Callie sunk back into the backseat. She put her head in her hands and cried.

Arizona's POV

Arizona cleaned herself up and walked out of the bathroom. Outside waiting for her were Teddy and Tim. She looked around frantically wondering where Callie was. Tim seemingly able to read her mind just said that she went home. Arizona went to head towards the door when Tim stopped her.

"Five million dollars, Arizona…?." The question and disappointment clear in his voice.

"What the hell was I suppose to do, Tim? You saw what he had. H-how do I risk that?" Arizona yelled. She knew what she just did. She just gave away almost everything she had. There was no more house in Miami. No more retirement for her parents. Not now anyway. She had sponsors that she was going to be making all that money back from. But that would take a few years.

"I honestly don't know. But you just gave up everything you worked for." He turned to walk away. They both knew there was nothing else that needed to be said. Teddy just gave her a sad smile and walked back with Tim.

Arizona doesn't remember getting home. It was all a blur. She walked into her apartment and was met with a sight she didn't expect. A suitcase and a Latina at her counter writing something.

"Calliope?" Arizona whispered. She watched as Callie's head shot up. She couldn't make out the emotion in the brunette's eyes at the moment. Was it shame? Embarrassment?

"Arizona. What are you doing here?" Callie whispered.

"Um, I live here." Arizona tried to joke. It clearly fell flat. "What's with the suitcase?" Arizona walked towards Callie. She looked down and saw that Callie was writing what looked like a note. She grabbed the brunette and pulled her into a hug. She felt the Latina let go and sob into her shoulder.

"Shhh. I got you sweetie." Arizona whispered and rubbed her back.

"I-there-I mean- There are not enough words to apologize to you, Arizona." Callie sobbed.

"Apologize to me?" Arizona asked.

"You just gave Eric FIVE MILLION DOLLARS. Yes apologize. H-how could you do that? Without talking to me?!" Callie's tone went from apologetic to angry. "How do you give that ass hole such a large sum of money. How?"

Arizona was at a loss. How was Callie mad at her? She just gave away her life savings to protect her. "Calliope, I was protecting you and Sofia." Arizona set her things down and walked into her bedroom. She couldn't have this conversation in her dress. Callie followed her. "You were protecting us? You just let him win!" Callie yelled.

"What would you have me do, Callie? Let him leak pictures of you two fucking to the whole world? Huh? PLEASE tell me what I should have done differently. It KILLLED me to give him that money. Not as much as seeing those photos killed me. Imagine Sofia seeing them." Arizona yelled back.

The shame on Callie's face was enough for Arizona to know she shouldn't have gone there. She walked up to Callie and took her hands. "Calliope. There is no amount of money that too much to protect you and Sofia." Arizona whispered, tucking hair behind Callie's ear.

Callie looked up at her. She looked so small and venerable in that moment. Arizona leaned in and gently pecked her lips. "Let me protect you, Calliope. Let me be here for you. I love you."

Callie's POV

Callie let her tears flow. She had planned to leave. How could Arizona want her around after what had just happened. The blonde had given up five million dollars and seen photos no one should have to see of their partner.

Arizona's reaction caught Callie so off guard she didn't know how to react. So, stupidly, she went with anger. She was angry at Eric and took it out on Arizona. This trip was supposed to be fun and sexy. Why did drama have to follow them?

Arizona gently kissed her lips after her declaration of love. "I'm so sorry, Arizona. So sorry. Let me pay you back. I have the money." Callie pleaded.

"It isn't about the money, love. You and Sofia are now safe. Eric is signing over everything. Signing the NDA. I will make sure those photos and his relationship to Sof never sees the light of day. Just let me protect you. Let me protect our girl." Arizona whispered tenderly. Holding Callie close. Callie had never had anyone care for her the way Arizona did. Ever. She was always the protector. The one having to shoulder the world to keep others safe and happy.

"Can we talk about the money later, please?" Callie whispered.

"Okay." Arizona replied. Callie knew Arizona was pacifying her, but she would take it.

"Are you okay?" Arizona asked. It had been a whirlwind of a night. It started off so good. So promising. Then Eric and George O'Malley ruined it.

"I don't know, honestly. I can't believe he would do that. We didn't end on bad terms. He um, he had a gambling problem back in the day. It is the only logical explanation for what he did. I am not defending him but I – I just struggle to think he could do this." Arizona just shook her head. Callie could tell Arizona was giving her some time to process everything. Callie leaned into Arizona's embrace.

"Thank you." Callie finally whispered after being held by the blonde.

"You never have to thank me." Arizona placed her hand under Callie's chin. Tilting it up so their eyes were locked. "I love you." Arizona whispered.

"I love you too." Callie responded.

"Make love to me, Arizona." Callie pleaded. She wanted to erase those images of her and Eric together from her head and Arizona's.

Arizona just smiled. She took Callie's hand and lead her into her bedroom and closed the door.

That night they connected so deeply there was no other way to describe it. Making love didn't even cover it. They worshiped each other slowly and methodically, memorizing every part of one another. The sealed their bond and their love to one another. They whispered words of love and declaration, of forever. As long as they had each other, none of the rest of it mattered.

A/N: The Eric drama is over. Next chapter will time jump a bit.
