The next couple of days were really busy, Nick was up and out from the early hours on a case with Carisi, Amanda and Fin were working late 2 nights running. When they got home hey were both so tired they were eating then going straight to bed. Thankfully the case was closed on Thursday afternoon, so Nick wouldn't have to work Friday. Thank God he said happily, I really don't fancy an argument with Maria about me having to work. Liv asked what time are they arriving? Um the flight lands about 8.30 tonight he said, so she'll drop them off after 9pm. Amanda was very quiet and Liv noticed. You OK Rollins? Hmm yeah she said a sad smile across her face, just thinking about something she replied. It was just before 3pm. Hey guys, why don't you 3 head home, me and Fin can handle here. You could use some sleep. Fin replied, yeah guys you look dead on your feet. Carisi said thanks and he headed out, Nick headed to his locker and Amanda headed to the staff area. Nick followed her in, hey he said, I've to go get some shopping in for the kids, you need anything? She smiled, no I don't think so, we need milk he replied. We do? Yeah he laughed we used the last of it this morning. Oh OK, sure I can pick some up on my way home. He walked over to her, hey bonita, how about I go get the shopping, drop it off at the house then I come home for a bit? he smiled, I'll pick some dinner up on the way. She smiled, sounds perfect she said. He rubbed her arm and said, Ok I'll see you at home in about an hour. OK she said, see you soon. Nick left and said his goodbyes as he got into the lift. Amanda finished her drink just as Liv walked in. You not leaving? she asked. Yeah, I am, just getting a drink first before I go. I think that's why I was getting bad headaches too, not drinking enough. OK she said you and Nick OK? Hmm what? Yeah, why wouldn't we be? Oh nothing, just you both seem quiet these past few days. Amanda smiled, no we're OK, just tired from this case she said, we haven't got to spend much time together. And the kids are here this weekend, so we'll not see each other to Monday maybe. What she didn't tell Liv was they were missing having sex and just talking. They were literally eating dinner when they got home, then straight to bed for some sleep. They weren't even getting home together one was sleeping when the other returned. Much needed snuggling was needed and they weren't getting as far as that either. You're missing him Liv said, and he's missing you. Amanda smiled, yeah, a little bit she blushed, a big bit Olivia replied smiling. Go on, away home and catch up on some sleep, I've a feeling Amaro will be at your doorstep as soon as the kids leave on Sunday. I'll see you in the morning. Thanks Liv, and Amanda headed home.
She had changed from her work clothes and put the wash on when Nick came home. It was just after 5pm. Hey mi reina he said with a big grin on his face. He put the dinner on the table and picked her up in his arms and kissed her. Oh I've missed you so much this week mi amor he said. She kissed him again, not as much as I've missed you baby she replied. They ate their food and he looked at her. You feeling OK he asked? Yeah. Much better for just seeing you properly now. He smiled good he said. What about you honey, are you OK? I am now he said, just seeing you properly and getting a proper kiss has helped. Counting down until Sunday though, he said, and grinned. Hmmm she smiled me too. Have you heard from Maria she asked. Yeah, he sighed, she's planning to be at the house around 9.30 he said. She looked at him, have you got everything sorted for them? Yeah, he said, they'll probably want a snack and hot chocolate before they go to bed. They'd both finished their dinner now. She got up and put the dishes in the sink and snuggled up to him on the couch. I'll tell Maria tonight about the house, and us when she drops them off. I'll tell the kids in the morning he said, he kissed her again and run his hand up and down her arm. Only if you're sure she said I'm sure he said. They sat talking and just holding each other for another for a while, between kisses she said this is just what we needed today she said. Well there's something else we could do with he laughed, but that's off the table, Of all the times. She laughed yeah well you did say Aunt Flow spoils things at times. She most certainly does he said. And he pulled her closer and kissed her again. They watched the tv for another bit then he got a text saying they had landed early. OK he said, I've gotta go he sighed, and kissed her again. I'll miss you so much he whispered. Hmm she said I'll miss you too. Call me whenever you can he said, I will she said against his lips, call me when you get to bed tonight she said. Oh I intend to he whispered back. One more kiss and she said, right off you go to see Gil and Zara. Ok, he kissed her again and said you're off on Sunday yes? Yeah she said. Ok I'll be home as soon as I drop them off to the airport. Ok she said, Can't wait. They kissed one more time and she stood at the door and waved as he drove away.
Back at his house he sat on the porch waiting for Maria to drive up. 5 minutes later the car pulled in and the kids were out before Maria opened her door. DAD! They both shouted. Hey you two he shouted and grinned as they ran up to him. Gil were you good for Maria? He was perfect said Maria, better than his sister. Uh-oh Hija. I was too excited papi she replied. Ok he said, I hope you've said sorry to mummy though. Sorry mummy she said slowly. It's OK baby Maria replied kissing her daughter's head. I'm glad you were happy and not cross. Yeah, agreed Nick. OK you two, in you go and get settled while I get your bags he said. He walked to the car with Maria. So, how's things with you? he asked Good thanks she said, actually there's something I need to talk to you about she said nervously. Ok he stopped and said you wanna talk here, or in the house? No here's better she said, I haven't talked to Zara yet. He took in a breath, Oh boy he said, ok hit me with it. She took a deep breath and said, Nathan and I want to move in together she said, but you know how things are with Zara and her feelings towards him at the minute, but we want to move forward too. Nick smiled and leaned against the car. Ok, he said, Maria looked at him. Well you're taking this a lot better than I was expecting she said, I thought you would go off on one. He smiled again and said, well the thing is I've something to tell you too Maria, I'm seeing someone. Oh, she said, I'm glad you've found someone else she said. Yeah, it's still early days but it's serious enough he replied. Do I know her? He looked up at her and said, yeah, you do. OK who then she asked. Amanda Rollins he said. Oh, she said. Aslong as you're happy Nick that's all that matters. Thanks he said. Look there's something else he said, is she pregnant? she asked, what, no he said laughing. No, she's not he said, again a bit more seriously, look I'm selling the house he said, Oh, you're moving in with her? Well no not at the moment he said, well I might have to if this place sells before I can move into the new place. You've somewhere already? Yeah, he said, one of my abuelo's properties. It's being renovated at the minute, so if they're not done, I might have to move in with her for a while. She nodded. Look Maria, I'm telling Zara and Gil about the house, and Amanda tomorrow. I'll see if Liv can take Gil for a while on Saturday and have a talk with Zara about you and Nathan, and me and Amanda, I don't mean this to come across as selfish towards Zara, but she's going to have to get used to us moving on with our lives. We can't hang around until she tells us it's OK. She's 7 for god's sake. Maria smiled, well at least we still see eye to eye on some things she said. She has been better since you visited at Christmas, and he smiled, well I did have a talk to her then about Nathan too. I thought so she said. Leave it with me I'll give you a call if anything happens. She smiled. Thanks Nick. And honestly, I'm happy that you've found someone again, I hope she treats you better than I did. Nick smiled. Well things happen for a reason. He picked up the 2 cabin cases and she said I'll call tomorrow night to see how things go. Ok he said. And I'm still dropping these 2 to the airport to you on Sunday? yes she said. No problem. And Maria thanks for bringing Gil down. She smiled he's a good kid Nick, just like his papi. He smiled thanks. That's down to his mum though. Well she said the past 2 years haven't just been down to her. And he idolises you Nick, just like Zara. She got back into the car and he waved her off. See you Sunday. And with that she drove off.
