Back at the station Amanda walked into Liv and the Chief talking to the rest of the squad room. Sorry I'm late Amanda said, Olivia said, no worries, I'll catch you up after we've finished.
After the briefing the chief came beside Amanda and said, you usually late Rollins? Oh no sorry Chief she said. I had a doctor's appointment this morning, I haven't been too well this past week and this morning was the only appointment I could get. He looked at her, but you're OK now? Yeah, she said smiling, just woman's stuff and he put his hands up, enough said Rollins, don't say another word, she laughed. Sorry. Hey, you've nothing to apologise for, you ladies have a hell of a lot to put up with when it comes to Nature, I will always admire you all for what you have to cope with. Amanda smiled. So, this case she said to him, yes, he said, you didn't miss too much to be honest so Lieutenant Benson can fill you in. I've asked her to do a personal favour by looking into this for me. OK she said, he then said, so how did the Christmas holidays go for you? She smiled, oh I only got one call, and it was a false alarm, so went really well she said. Good he smiled seems it was quiet all over for a change. We do appreciate you giving your holidays up for others though he said. Well she said, it's about family time she replied, I don't have any, well apart from these guys here, so I'm happy to help them out whenever I can. Olivia came up to them sorry Rollins she said, no worries she replied, me and you are together for this one she smiled, so I'll brief you on the way. Unless you need me for something else chief she asked? No No, thank you Olivia, you two head out, I'm leaving too. They said their goodbyes at the car park. When they were driving away Olivia said, everything OK with Noah? Yes, I left him sleeping in Nick's room. Zara and Gil were disappointed to find him sleeping she laughed. Good she sighed, thanks for helping me out Amanda, I really appreciate it. Anytime Liv she replied. So, you saw the kids? Oliva asked, I did yes Amanda smiled. Do they know about you and Nick? they do, he told them this morning she smiled. Well you're smiling so I'm assuming all has went OK with that news. Amanda laughed, yeah Zara was very excited, and Gil wants me to call by after work tonight. Really, aww I'm glad Amanda, I really am, for both of you. Does Maria know? I haven't got talking to him about Maria yet, I'll ask him tonight.
After an hour of Zara skipping around excitedly and Gil asking Nick if Amanda still likes basketball, he was glad Noah woke up. He went into his room and lifted him out of the cot. Buenos dias pequeño he said. Then in English repeated Good morning little one. Noah giggled and said ick. Yes Nick, he laughed and kissed his head. Let's go see who's out here little man. When he walked out Gil came up to him. Hi Noah, he cooed. Noah reached out to Gil. You OK to take him son? Nick asked, yeah dad and Nick handed him over. Gil walked over to the couch with him and Zara followed. He took a photo of Gil holding him and Zara fussing over them both. He smiled and sent the photo to Liv and Amanda.
Right let's get little misters diaper changed and then we can head out to do some shopping he announced. Zara went to get Nick the changing bag. Here papi. Thank you Hija he said. Gil held the empty nappy bag and when Nick put the used diaper and wipes in it he tied it and brought out to the outside bin. Hey little guy Nick said, we've got great helpers for you he laughed. They got into the car and headed off to the mall.
Liv saw the photo Nick sent 1st, aww looks like Nick has got this 3 kid, thing sorted. She showed Amanda the photo, aww that's cute she laughed.
Back at the Mall Nick was pushing Noah with Gil walking beside him and Zara just in front. He'd bought them some new clothes and Gil found a pair of trainers on sale that Nick said he could have. Zara was delighted when he bought her a pair of light up trainers. OK guys we need to go to the wallpaper shop soon so you can pick what you want for your new rooms he said. They stopped off for some lunch, and they talked about what colours they wanted. Hey dad Gil said, yes hijo, do I have to get wallpaper he asked? Nick looked, why what have you got in mind if not wallpaper? Well my friend has his painted in this cool pattern in different colours. He said his mum used tape to make the shapes. Nick sat back, Ok, he said, and gave him his phone, see if you can find a picture on here and we'll have a look. Zara wanted Pink and purple wallpaper. While Nick was cleaning up Noah Gil found what he was looking for. Like this he said, only different colours. Nick lifted Noah out of the highchair and sat him on his knee. He took the phone from Gil. You know what mate? I really like that he smiled. Gil's face beamed. Yeah, you can get this done if you want, he said. What colours are you thinking? I don't know, maybe different colours of blue or Navy he asked. Nick typed in the colours and description in on the phone and hit search. Like this he asked. Gil looked, yeah dad that's cool he said excitedly. Ok then hijo, that's what we'll do for you then. He took a screenshot of the picture and saved it to a new folder. They headed back towards the car. On the way to the DIY store for wallpaper Nick said Ok you two. About the new house, I need you to keep it a secret from Auntie Liv and Uncle Fin he said. Why? asked Gil. Well I haven't told them about moving house yet he said, I only decided this week and I haven't had a chance to tell them. So, we need to keep it a secret from them for a little while longer. Ok said Gil, does Amanda know about it? Nick smiled, yes Amanda knows about the new house, so you can talk to her about it. And Maria knows too, I'll phone your mum when we get home and tell her too. Zara do you understand that? yes papi she replied. It's a secret and I can't tell Auntie Liv or Uncle Fin about our new house. That's right. I want you two to see it 1st before we tell the others he said, so when the work is finished and you two see it you can tell them all about it then. OK they said. Wallpaper bought for Zara's room and paint samples for Gil's they headed back home. Settled back in the house, Zara announced Daddy, Noah stinks, Nick laughed and asked her to bring him the changing bag again. Zara hung back this time as did Gil. Wow dad that smells bad said Gil. Nick laughed yeah you two smelt like this at one stage too you know. New nappy on and the stinky one in the bin Nick sat on the couch with Noah snuggled on his lap drinking from his bottle. Zara climbed up on the couch beside him and snuggled under his arm. Hey mi chica you ok? Uh-huh she said. Gil had sat on the chair and was playing in his handheld console he got for Christmas. Daddy…. Zara said slowly. Yes princesa? Will Amanda have a baby like Noah she asked. Nick, shocked, looked down at her his mouth open, Gil had stopped playing his game and was looking at Nick now. Noah fussed as Nick had dropped the bottle slightly. Erm, he coughed slightly, not right now he said. Christ how am I answering this one he thought. Why? she asked, well I don't know, he said, shifting uncomfortably, maybe in a few years when you're bigger she might want to have a baby, but I don't think so at the minute. Aww she said, I want a baby brother or sister she said with puppy dog eyes. And mummy said she doesn't want any more babies. I don't think she loves Nathan like she used to love you, because mummy says that's when God gives mummies and daddies a baby, they love each other very much. Nick sat up and cleared his throat, shifted again, well, we'll have to wait and see what God has planned princesa, he replied. But for now, I think I'm happy with you and Gil he smiled. And Noah when he comes to visit, he added. But you do love Amanda, don't you? she said, yes of course I do princesa, I love her very much, and she loves you very much? Yes, she does he smiled. Ok she replied. Gil do you want Amanda to have a baby brother or sister? Nick looked at Gil, Gil looked at Nick, ermm yeah but not just yet Zara he said. Why? she asked, because you ask too many annoying questions he said, and Nick laughed. But I don't want another sister he said, I want a brother. Oh, great, thought Nick to himself, as Gil added, but I want to have fun with you, Dad and Amanda for a while before god sends another baby. Nick smiled at him, Yeah, I want that too said Zara, ok said Nick, so we can forget about babies and just focus on Noah for now then yes? Yes, she said and snuggled back up to him. Gil laughed at Nick and went back to his game, Nick found Noah sleeping and Zara was reading her magazine she'd bought today.
Amanda and Liv were the last to leave the office. They were both heading over to Nick's house. Liv said Amanda I'm going to stop off at the grocery store first for a few things, I'll not be long behind you. Ok she said, see you in a bit. Amanda pulled up behind his car in the driveway and walked into the house. There she found Noah playing on Nick's lap trying to grab his hair and Zara snuggled into him. Gil was reading a book that Nick bought him that afternoon. She took a quick photo then said Hey guys as she closed the door. Hi Amanda, Gil said, and Zara bounced up and ran over to her for a hug. Hey, that's a lovely welcome home she laughed. Noah started to fuss and put his arms out for Amanda. Hey little guy she said, as Nick got up and walked over to her. He gave her a kiss and said, welcome to the mad house, and kissed her again, Noah started to protest, Ok, you can have a kiss too little guy she laughed as she took him from Nick. He rubbed her back smiling Where's Liv? Oh, she had to stop off for something she'll not be long. Noah started trying to go for Amanda's hair. God you're hyper buddy, she said, what have these 3 been doing to you? He started to make noises as if he was telling her a story. Is that right, she laughed. Zara climbed up beside her, do you know what he's saying Amanda? Yeah, she laughed, he's telling me that you and Gil have been great helpers today she said with a wink. We were great helpers weren't we Gil she said excitedly, Gil laughed, yeah, except when he had a stinky diaper you wouldn't go near him. Amanda laughed, and so did Noah, he settled down on her shoulder and started rubbing her hair between his little fingers. Oh, you can't go to sleep yet Mr Noah she said, mummy's coming soon. Nick sat down on the other side of the couch, Zara still hanging onto Amanda's arm. She turned and looked at him and smiled, he grinned back. You have a good day today? Yeah, he said, we have haven't we guys. Yes, said Zara. Noah lifted his head and nodded it. And you had a good day today too she said to him. He laughed then wanted down. Amanda put him down and he toddled over to Gil. He put his arms out to him, so Gil put his book down and lifted him up. Nick smiled at him then looked at Amanda who was smiling too. He held his hand over to her on the back of the couch and she reached for it. You have a good day mi amor? he asked. Busy she said, very busy. He rubbed her knuckles and he said you can tell me about it later eh? Yeah, she nodded. Noah climbed down again and toddled over to Amanda again making up noises. Ok up you come she said. He snuggled into her again and she kissed his head, 5 minutes later there was a knock on the door. It's open Liv shouted Nick. Olivia walked in and said hello to everyone, then said where's my little man? Nick nodded towards Amanda, right here he said, and laughed. She walked round and saw him snuggled into Amanda, look Noah Amanda said, there's mummy. Noah looked up and a huge smile spread across his face, Mami he said arms out, yeah baby boy Liv said, mami. She lifted Noah up, so how are you two doing? speaking to Gil and Zara. Amanda's daddy's girlfriend she said proudly, Olivia laughed, yeah, I know, aren't they both very lucky. Yeah said Zara, I like Amanda, well I'm glad to hear it Olivia said, so that means you'll be nice to her and do what she asks you to do? Uh-huh she replied. What about you Gil? Olivia asked, yeah, I love Amanda he said, she's cool and he looked at Amanda and smiled. Amanda blushed, Good Olivia said, and how's school? Good he said…. I don't love that though and they all laughed. Hey you two, if you go out to the porch you might find some treats from me and Noah she whispered, they both ran out to the porch, DONUGHTS Gil shouted, Thanks Auntie Olivia. Nick stood up, you didn't have to do that he said, I know I didn't she smiled, but there's also a case of beer in my car too so if you don't want that I can take it home, Amanda laughed, nah you're Ok I can help with that he said. Come on I'll help you load the car. Amanda took Noah again while Nick and Olivia moved the pram from his car to hers and Zara brought out the changing bag. Gil brought out the other bag of food. They all then came back in. Thanks again Nick she said, anytime he said, is Lucy's mum OK, ermm they're running some tests so she'll be in until tomorrow. But Rafael said he will have Noah tomorrow anyway so I'm not too worried. Well tell him I'm here with these 2 monkeys tomorrow if he wants a change of scenery. I will she said, thanks Nick. She said her goodbyes and left.
