The Weekend

*************"Amanda, why is your luggage in the closet?" I asked my daughter with a smirk on my face. I wanted to see what crazy story she was going to come up with. There was something going on with Amanda the past few months and I was determined to figure out what or who it was. I suspected it had something to do with the film company she worked for. She would get a phone call and suddenly she's dashing out the door. I think there is someone there that she's having an affair with but I know my daughter wouldn't do that. Or would she? I wonder if that dashing young man in the tuxedo has anything to do with her behavior. My thoughts are interrupted as Amanda smiles at me and tells me that she had to move her luggage downstairs over the weekend because she was cleaning out her closet.

" Oh well, then... that's a perfectly acceptable explanation. It's definitely not what I was thinking."

" Oh? What were you thinking, Mother?" Amanda asked me. Her eyebrow creeped up.

I sighed and said "Well, I honestly thought maybe you were whisked away for the weekend to a fabulous resort with a dashing handsome man!"

Amanda giggled and said " Only you Mother" as she walked towards the stairs. I watched her take her suitcases back upstairs. I shook my head and walked over to the stove to start the water for some tea. Something red caught my eye and I noticed Amanda's toothbrush sitting on the counter. I picked it up and looked back towards the stairs. At that point I knew something was definitely up with my daughter.
