Chapter 49

Arizona was sitting in the waiting room of South Beach Wellness. Callie was currently using the restroom while they waited for Addison to see them. She was nervous. Terrified honestly. The idea that she could soon have a pregnant wife was baffling. This is not the life she ever expected, but damn was she excited.

"What has you so deep in thought over there?" Callie asked as she approached her wife.

"Just thinking about how much fun I am going to have trying to get you pregnant." Arizona replied

"Such a man sometimes." Callie joked with her. She knew her wife was nervous. She was nervous too. Sofia was completely unplanned. She didn't know what exactly to expect here.

"Calliope Robbins-Torres" a brunette receptionist called.

"I will never get tired of hearing that." Arizona kissed her wife's cheek. "Let's go." She grabbed Callie's hand and lead her to the exam room.

"Go ahead and undress from the waist down and Dr. Montgomery will be in shortly. I am just going to draw some blood to run some labs that Dr. Montgomery requested." The medical tech drew the blood and got Callie all situated.

"Thank you." Both of them replied.

Arizona walked around the exam room and looked around as Callie undressed and covered herself up.

"So how do you know Addison anyway?" Arizona asked as she came to sit with her wife.

"Oh, we go way back." Callie was looking around the room.

"How far?" Arizona smiled. The fact her wife wouldn't look her in the eye told her everything she needed to know about her history with their potential doctor.

"Well, I met her my first year of college. We hit it off. She was there for me a lot and she actually was doing her pediatric rotation when Sofia was born. So, she did all her tests after she was born." Callie smiled at her wife hoping that shut the topic down.

"I love it when you squirm, babe. Am I safe to assume this won't be the first time she is seeing between your legs?" Arizona laughed at the shocked look on Callie's face.

"Knock Knock." They heard as a beautiful red head walked into the room.

"Dang. Nice babe." Arizona joked with her wife.

"Calliope Torres." Addison smiled as she hugged the other woman.

"Addie. Call me Calliope again and I will punch you in the face." Callie hugged her back.

"This must be the hot wife you keep telling me about. She is even better in purpose. I can see why you want her to knock you up! Addison Forbes Montgomery. Pleasure to finally meet you." Addison stuck out her hand to shake Arizona's.

"Arizona Robbins-Torres. Pleasure is all mine. We hate that you missed the wedding. I missed all your other visits since I was on the road."

"Yeah. She claims something about a clinical trial. Uterus transplants or something." Callie joked with her best friend.

"I'll have you know; I am at the end of the trial. Almost have full FDA approval. Also, don't you need me to do something for you?" Addison winked at Callie.

She pulled the ultrasound machine out and told Callie to lie back. "Okay, so what I am doing here is just checking out your cervix and uterine lining. I know you have Sofia, so I don't expect anything but I want to be sure." Addison continued to conduct the exam while Arizona peppered her with questions about the process. Callie just laughed at her wife's eagerness. It really was adorable. Once Addison wrapped up the exam she told the women that she would meet them in her office to go over everything including the lab results she rushed.

"You nervous?" Arizona asked as Callie sat next to her in Addison's office waiting.

"I wouldn't say nervous. More eager. I am just really excited to expand out family with you." Callie smiled at the giant dimpled smile that Arizona returned at her sentiment. Leaning in she kissed her wife. What was supposed to be a chaste kiss quickly heated up. As Arizona grabbed the back of Callie's neck to pull her in deeper they hear the door open. Jumping apart like two teenagers they heard Addison laughing behind them.

"Well, the trying part isn't going to be an issue if you choose insemination." Addison joked with them.

Sitting down at her desk Addison opened the file that contained the results of all the exams and labs ran that day.

"Alright. So. Callie, everything looks really good. Your estrogen levels are great, cervix looks good, uterine lining looks good. So, you have a few options here. You can jump right to IVF, which I don't recommend based on these results. I suggest an IUI. Basically, the turkey baster method. More technical, but that is what some people call it. We would have you inseminated with donor sperm. Look at it as putting the golf ball right in the hole. No fuss no muss." Arizona laughed at Arizona's golf analogy.

"I do think you should do one round of hormone injections. Then we will have you take an ovulation trigger shot, because I remember your cycles being irregular. IS that still the case?" Addison asked. Callie nodded yes to respond.

"Any questions?" Addison asked.

"So, when could we like, start trying?" Arizona asked.

"Well, according to Callie's intake form she had her period 3 weeks ago. I want to give her some progesterone and if your period doesn't start in a week I want you to take it. That will make you have your period. Then, once you are done I want you to do one hormone shot every day for three weeks. Then, you will take the ovulation trigger shot. Once you do that, for three days after you will try. You can either do it in office, or you can try at home. It is up to you. So, all in all, you are looking at being able to actively try in about a month." Addison sat and wrote all the instructions out.

"So, when you say try, you mean I would inject the sperm in her at home?" Arizona was a bit grossed out by the idea.

"Yes. Or you can do it in office."

"I want to do it at home." Callie spoke up, looking at her wife.

"Me too." Arizona smiled and grabbed her wife's hand.

"Welp, there you have it. Here is the website where you can look at donors. I suggest picking one so you are not unsure when the time actually comes to go. Anymore questions?"

"I don't think so." Both women seemed satisfied.

"Okay. Then, lets grab lunch and catch up!" Addison grabbed her purse and the three headed out.

"So please tell me about college Callie, please." Arizona was trying not to laugh at the few tales Arizona told about Callie and Sofia's beginning days together.

"Ohhh. College Callie was fun. Always the life of the party." Addison wiggled her eyebrows.

"So how many times have you slept with my wife?" Arizona asked.

"Arizona!" Callie choked on her water.

"What? I'm not dumb. I have an excellent gaydar. And you're both hot. It doesn't take a genius." Arizona was a little jealous, but Addison really was great and she was very secure in her relationship.

"It wasn't a relationship. Just here and there after bar nights in college. Nothing serious." Addison responded without a care in the world.

"Do you remember when Eric found out that we hooked up? God he wouldn't let you see me for like 2 months." Addison rolled her eyes at the thought of Callie's ex.

"Ahhh. Let's not go there. He is out of the picture." Callie glanced over at Arizona and was relieved to see her wife seemed at ease even though his name was mentioned.

"Here here!" Addison raised her wine glass and they all cheered at that sentiment.

The rest of the afternoon was spent laughing and enjoying each other's company. Arizona really did like Addison. She was smart, funny, and really cared about her wife. After making Addison promise to join them on one of the days of The Race, they all said their goodbyes and headed home.

"So, what are you thinking about the fertility thing?" Arizona asked as she rubbed Callie's back.

"I think it should be fine." Callie moaned at her wife's massage skills.

"Fine? That usually means something is on your mind."

"No. I'm good."

"Calliope. If we are going to do this, we need to be open and honest. Communication is important here."

"Honestly? I am nervous. What if it doesn't work?" Callie was nervous to voice her doubt.

"Let's not go there okay. Addison said this was step one. If it doesn't work after a few tries, we can discuss IVF. But I have a really good feeling about this, okay?" Arizona leaned in and captured Callie's lips in hers. She felt the brunette's body relax. Once she had the desired effect, she rolled her back over and continued her massage.

"What time do you have to go tomorrow?" Callie mumbled

"First practice round starts at noon. I was thinking of taking Sof with me. What do you think?"

"Oh, she would love that. She hasn't been in a while. I offered to bring her and she could go while I work but she swears that only Mama knows what she is doing." Callie feigned hurt.

"That's my girl." Arizona chuckled. "You know, I could teach you to golf. It could be our family thing."

"You know I love you dearly, right?" Callie asked. Arizona nodded her head, confused where this was going. "The idea of golfing in the heat is not something that sounds like a good time. I love watching you, especially when you get all sweaty and excited. But no thank you." Callie gave her best smile hoping her wife wasn't offended.

Arizona just laughed. "So, you don't want to get sweaty and excited with me?" Arizona raised her eyebrow.

"Oh. I would absolutely love to get sweaty and excited with you. Just not on a golf course." Callie pulled Arizona in and kissed her passionately. She flipped them over so her wife was now under her. Slowly raising Arizona's shirt, she started to kiss up her tight stomach. Licking and nipping as she made her way higher. As she was about to move the offending item she heard their bedroom door burst open.

"Mommies!" Sofia yelled.

"Your daughter's timing is impeccable." Callie mumbled against Arizona's stomach as she pulled her shirt down.

"I'm just glad I listened to you about the layout of the bedroom. We would have scarred her multiple times if we didn't put the bed around the corner." Arizona shuffled up so she was seated against the headboard. Not loving that her daughter just interrupted what was sure to be a good time.

"Mommies. Why are you in bed? It's only 7 o'clock." Sofia flopped down on her mother's bed and snuggled into Arizona's side.

"Mama has to go back to work tomorrow and I have a practice round. Would you want to come with me?" Arizona asked as she played with her daughter's hair.

"Yes! Yes! Will the other golfers be there? What about Uncle Alex?" Sofia quickly hopped off the bed and started pacing.

"No sweetie. Remember Uncle Alex took the season off to be with the baby." Sofia's eyes lit up at the mention of the baby.

"Oh yeah. Can we see him soon? Also, I need to go get my stuff ready for tomorrow. Goodnight Moms!" Sofia took off out of the room.

"She interrupted us to come in here for 5 minutes?" Arizona huffed.

"Just wait until there is a baby here. It will be worse." Callie joked.

"There is no level of exhaustion that can keep me away from you, my love." Arizona climbed on top of her wife and started to kiss her neck. "Nothing can keep me away." She whispered into her wife's ear. Licking the shell of her ear she was met with a satisfied moan.

She slowly guided her hand down Callie's stomach and was about to dip it under the waistband.

"Mama!" Sofia busted in the door again.

"NOOOOO" Callie whined.

"We need a lock." Arizona huffed as she flung herself onto her back.

"Yes. Dear." Arizona asked as Sofia appeared.

"What color shirt should I wear tomorrow." The little girl asked.

Taking a deep breath and reminding herself how much she loved her daughter no matter how many times she has been interrupted by her in the year she has been with Callie. "Let's both go with pink."

"Okay!" The little brunette replied as she took off towards the door.

Callie had to laugh at the look on her wife's face. Arizona transitioned into the role of motherhood perfectly. But she always laughed at the blonde's frustration in being interrupted in the bedroom.

"Let's get some sleep. We are back to work after our long break tomorrow." Callie kissed Arizona on the cheek.

"You're joking right?" Arizona asked.

"Um. I was going to shower and go to bed. Am I missing something?" Callie asked.

"We were in the middle of something!" Arizona exclaimed. She wanted her wife and wanted her now.

"I didn't say you couldn't join me in the shower." Callie pulled her shirt off and threw it at her wife. Before she even had time to look behind her she watched as her wife ran in front of her shedding her clothes on her way to the bathroom.
