The Wrong Way Home
******************* "Well, I think I will stick with the theme and we'll have hot dogs for dinner!"
"Thank you Mother!"
I shuffled the boys into the house and turned back to see Amanda and Joe talking. For a divorced couple they really were the best of friends. I knew that Joe King didn't have a snowball's chance of ever getting Amanda back, but he was sure gonna try. Within a few minutes of heading into the kitchen Amanda came in and ran upstairs. She came back down a few minutes later after changing her clothes and told me that she and Joe were going out. I just nodded and silently prayed that Amanda told him where she stood. Oh how I wish she was dating her mystery man! That way Joe would know that Amanda was not available!
Later on that night Amanda came home and she was smiling. I made a face thinking it was for Joe. My curiosity was killing me so I had to ask
"Did you have a good time dear?"
Amanda gave me a hug and nodded. "Yes Mother. It's nice having Joe back home. He wants to spend more time with the boys and I think that will be great for them."
I raised an eyebrow "Only spending time with the boys, huh? Does he plan on spending time with you as well?"
Amanda rolled her eyes at me "Mother. Joe is in my past. You know that. I think my future is still out there and I want to move forward. I am sure of it."
I smiled at her and said "Well, that's wonderful darling. I hope you will find it one day.'
Amanda smiled at me " I think I just might be Mother. I have a feeling it's been right in front of me this whole time."
She gave me another hug and went upstairs. I am now convinced she is seeing her mystery man from work.
