A native to Domino City, Ryder was born with a love of adventure and an eagerness for going full throttle. Under the watchful eyes of his parents, he took on a multitude of outdoor-adventure hobbies, such as camping, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and base jumping. Whether if it was alone, or with whoever could keep up with him, he was always looking for the next big adventure, ready with a spring in his step and his head in the clouds. However, his bold nature often led him to commonly take risks and small gambles, often to his own detriment. This never daunted him, however, as he found excitement and joy with every risk he took. As he approached secondary school, he took a notice to the Duel Monsters card game that his classmates would often play, and immediately fell in love with the player's capability to take risks in order to get an advantage on their opponent. Seeing it as another great adventure, he decided to build a deck that would suit his risky attitude and love for adventures.
