The next thing is that Kuvira still needs to get used to her decision. Her fears didn't dissapeared overnight...
Zaofu, the Beifongs' Residence, the next day
It was begining of June and summer in Zaofu officialy started. The nature was full of life and flowers were blooming everywhere... Today, there were no clouds on the sky and everything looked so calm and peaceful...
Baatar was in his office since early morning and was finishing last calculations for tomorrow's meeting... The project of new maglev railway was still starting but all technical drawings and plans had to be ready.
He was sitting behind his working table and yawned while taking off his glasses. He haven't slept properly for a long time already and yesterday's storm didn't help at all.
While massaging his face, Baatar was thinking about what his mother said during breakfast. Apparently there are some riots in Ba Sing Se and it seems the Red Lotus is behind all of it.
The situation in the Earth Kingdom started to be dangerous... Baatar hoped that Zaofu will stay safe but it seemed that chaos is now ruling in the capital city…
Baatar didn't want to think about all horrible things which could happen. He wanted to think about something nice right now… Baatar opened the first drawer of his working table and took a small box out of it. There was emerald ring for Kuvira inside... It was finally finished.
Baatar made it by himself. It was platinum ring with emerald in the shape of water drop and with two round diamonds on the sides. Baatar hoped Kuvira will like it... He spent hours by making the ring. Baatar wanted it to be personal...
Baatar sighed and was wondering when he should ask Kuvira... They were still very young and nobody knew about their relationship... Baatar knew he had to wait for that right moment... He hoped Kuvira will say yes when that moment comes...
Zaofu, the Guards' Residence, at the same time
It was already 9 a.m. and Kuvira was slowly waking up. She opened her eyes and heard birds singing outside. The storm ended during the night and new day was welcomed with the sun.
Kuvira was laying in nicely warm duvets and her bed felt like she would be sleeping on a soft cloud. The sunlight was casting trough the bedroom window and Kuvira felt relaxed...
It looked like the weather was reflecting her mood. Yeasterday, there was a storm in Kuvira's mind. She felt so many emotions at the same time... But today, she felt much more calm. She accepted that there is a little life inside of her and Kuvira decided to keep her baby safe forever...
Kuvira yawned and stretched her arms. She fell asleep in her bathrobe yeasterday and it felt really comfortable. Kuvira laid on her side and saw a bowl and a cup on the night table from her yeasterday's dinner...
The memory of all the things that happened filled up her mind and Kuvira's heart jumped. Was that all just a nightmare? She thought for herself...Kuvira's mind was on a very dark place yesterday…she was glad that today, she was far away from all that darkness.
Kuvira decided to get up and then she opened the window. The sound of bird's songs filled the bedroom and Kuvira looked at the tops of high mountains still covered with snow... Today was a really nice day...
When looking out of the window, Kuvira was standing barefoot on the floor. She closed her eyes and slowly placed her hand on her stomach... She felt strong heartbeat with her seismic sense.
Kuvira smiled for herself and caressed her little bump. She still had to get use to chosing to became a mother... It was all new for her and she will have to sort many things out... but right now, she felt calm after really long time. She didn't even felt nauseous this morning.
Feeling the baby's heartbeat was scary but so beautiful at the same time for her... That little heart which Kuvira created with Baatar had the sweetest sound ever...
"Good morning, little one." Kuvira told her baby in her mind and was wondering if she's bearing a son or a daughter...one way or another, Kuvira will have a little Beifong in seven months...
Kuvira sighed and tried to find courage for everything what's before her and Baatar as well. It won't be easy but Kuvira knew it will be worthy. She will finally have her own family... It was always her secret dream.
After a while, Kuvira took the dishes from the night table to the kitchen and made a spearmint tea and toast for herself...
Today, Kuvira should have an afternoon watch in the Southern Block so it is going to be a calm day for her... She knew that Baatar has too much work today due to tomorrow's meeting with investors and architect so Kuvira decided to tell him about their baby on Saturday evening...
Kuvira was nervous from the announcment and how Baatar would react but she knew she had to tell him as soon as possible... The baby was growing bigger and bigger everyday... However Kuvira still had some time before she starts showing much more...
When Kuvira finished the breakfast she took on her uniform. While taking on the belt, Kuvira made it looser around her waist so her small bump had more space. Then she carefuly took on her armor and helmet. The Southern Block was waiting and Kuvira needed to do some paperwork before...
"Let's go." she said to herself while looking to the mirror and then left her apartment...she took one toast with her as a snack because Kuvira always tended to starve all day because of work. But now, Kuvira knew she has to eat more often. She didn't want the baby to be hungry and it is gonna be long day today...
Zaofu, the Southern Block, early evening
The sun was slowly setting downd and Kuvira enjoyed the last sunlight on her face. Guarding Southern Block was always the easiest. It was really calm neighborhood with beautiful houses with gardens and nothing really happened here...
Kuvira always liked this place... She hoped that she could live there with Baatar and their baby one day...
As Kuvira was slowly returning from her watch back to the Guards' Residence, she threw the paper tissue from her snack to the near by trashcan. Having a snack with her was actually really nice and Kuvira didn't understand why she was always starving all the time on her watches in the past... She was sure that the baby liked that snack as well...
While walking down the street, something caught Kuvira's attention. She was passing by a shop with things for children on the other side of the street...
Normaly, Kuvira wouldn't even stop there, but right now... Kuvira felt curiosity. When she was sure nobody is around, she slowly walked across the street to look at shop window...
She saw her reflection in her captain uniform in the glass and was looking at herself for a while. She didn't look pregnant at all... She was still really skinny and nobody would notice her baby bump under her armor...
"For how long I will be able to hide you?" Kuvira asked her baby in her thoughts and slowly put her hand on her stomach... The heartbeat was regular and strong... Kuvira always felt fear when she sensed the heartbeat but warm feeling filled up her body as well...
Kuvira smiled for herself and looked closely at the items behind the shop window. There were many pieces of clothes, toys and one big dark green stroller... Kuvira didn't know if she's ready for all of it but she had to hope it will be okay...
That dark green stroller was really nice and it caught Kuvira's eye. "You would like this stroller, wouldn't you?" Kuvira whispered sweetly to her baby and smiled. She imagined herself and Baatar on the walk with this beautiful stroller and felt nice warm feeling inside...
It was really nice imagination. One small happy family.. "I promise I will get the best baby carriage for you..." Kuvira said in her thoughts and looked at it for the last time... She was tired after her afternoon watch and had to get back to her apartment...
She had to create a plan on how to announce Baatar that he's going to be a father in just a few months... Kuvira felt nervous but she knew that when she tells him, she won't have to be alone for all of that anymore...
Tomorrow, there will be no more secrets...
Zaofu, the Beifongs' Residence, the next day
It was already 10 a.m. and Baatar was getting ready for his meeting with investors and architects.
He was in his father's office and Varrick and Zhu Li were already there as well. The meeting should start in half an hour and Baatar hoped he didn't forget some calculations or technical drawings in his room.
Baatar worked on plans for a new magnetic railway all month and had barely some sleep last couple of weeks. And they got a messege that the avatar with her friends and aunt Lin are returning today…
"Is everything ready, Junior?" his father asked while putting his hand on his son's shoulder. Baatar finished organising of technical drawings on the table and turned at his father.
"Yes. Everything is done and ready for the meeting." Baatar replied and his father nodded. Then Baatar Senior walked closer to Varrick and they started discussing the railway problematics.
Baatar watched them for a while and then went closer to the window without saying a word... He saw that the tram was coming from the City Center to the Beifongs' Residence. The investors were there... Baatar couldn't wait to all of it to be over. His mind needed relaxation and he was really looking forward to go on the trip with Kuvira tomorrow…
Zaofu, the Guards' Residence, at the same time
When Kuvira woke up, the sun was already high up on the sky. Pregnancy made her a heavy sleeper…
Today was the day... today, Kuvira will finally tell Baatar...
Kuvira had a day off because she managed to do all the paper work yeasterday. During the night, Kuvira came up with the plan on how to tell Baatar... She hoped he will support her decision...After having a lunch, Kuvira decided to get ready. She knew Baatar has a meeting with engineers today so it will be a bit complicated.
She went to the bathroom and took a long warm shower. She washed her hair with her lotos shampoo and spent about five minutes by studying her little baby bump in the mirror. It looked the same like it did yesterday but it was still fascinating and scary for Kuvira...
"We want to look nice today." Kuvira said quietly while taking on her bathrobe. She decided to go in her Zaofu style dark green dress. This day, she didn't want to look like a captain... she wanted to be just Kuvira... It was not about an engineer and a captain today... All of this was about Baatar and Kuvira... about parents...
Kuvira still couldn't use to that word. It sounded so new and scary...
While drying her hair, Kuvira prepared her metal necklace and bracelets. She tried to remember when did she wear her dark green dress for the last time... It was during that night when she became a captain... Kuvira's cheeks got warm when the memory of that night filled up her mind...
After drying and braiding her hair, Kuvira stood up and took off her bathrobe. She took on her white underwear and while taking on her trousers, Kuvira found out it's difficult to close the highest button on her waist.
Kuvira didn't notice that she would gain so much weight in her waist area. She was wearing her loose uniform or training clothes most of the time... But her casual tigh clothes started to seem to small for her...
At least it was just one button... the baby wanted to have more space...
Kuvira took on her dress with large sleeves and then her jewerelly. She was prepared... Kuvira walked closer to the mirror and took a deep breath. It was time to go...

Zaofu, the Beifongs' Residence, some time later
It was already afternoon and Kuvira nervously headed to the Beifongs' Residence. She had a note for Baatar in her pocket and felt her heart beating fastly and body shaking...
When the tram got to the Residence, Kuvira checked her reflection in the window for the last time. She wanted to look pretty for ocasion like this one...
Kuvira got off the tram and secretly sneaked to the Beifongs' Gardens. She didn't want anyone to see her there. At least for now...
Kuvira knew that Baatar would be probably in his office right now so Kuvira headed there.
When she got closer to Baatar's office window, Kuvira eartbended a boulder and step on the top of it so she could see inside.
Kuvira was standing on her tip toes but Baatar's office seemed empty. "The meeting probably haven't ended yet." Kuvira said to herself and decided to leave him a note.
She opened the window with her metalbending and carefuly got inside. Baatar's laboratory was messy as always but Kuvira knew he would find the note from her.
Kuvira quietly walked closer to Baatar's working table and took the note out of her pocket. Hers and the baby's hearts were beating fastly from nervousness. Kuvira hoped nobody will catch her.
She placed the note to the center of Baatar's table and quickly rushed back to the window. Kuvira looked out to see if there are guards around and when she saw that the place is empty, she climbed out of the window.
Kuvira jumped down on the ground and closed the window... Now, she knew exactly where to go... she just had to wait for Baatar to come...
Zaofu, Baatar Senior's office at the same time
"It is our final decision. We can't continue in our project when the situation in the Earth Kingdom is so unstable..." engineer Saito said and left Baatar, his father and Varrick speechless.
The meeting went worse then Baatar expected…Situation in Ba Sing Se was more serious than they thought. The Earth queen was murdered and she didn't allowed start of building the railway before her death...
The project was probably over... Baatar was angry. Weeks of his work were useless because of all that chaos. The Red Lotus gained more power than they could even imagine and the future of the Kingdom didn't look bright at all...
"So our project is over?" Baatar Senior asked engineer Saito with concerns.
"Yes. For now..." engineer replied and massaged his face. "I am sorry to tell you all of it but it will probably take years to get permission..." he added and the office was filled with quiet... It was over...
Baatar didn't pay much attention during rest of the meeting and when it ended, he headed straight to his laboratory.
He felt under the weather and felt many emotions. Baatar didn't know what the future will bring but right now he felt so tired...
When he got to his laboratory he closed the door behind himself and headed to his working table. He sat down and sighed. Baatar didn't know what to do... Their project was useless now...
While looking at the technical drawings, something caught Baatar's attention. He saw a light green sheet of paper on the top of his table. He was sure it's not his paper... light green paper is used by the guards...
Baatar took the note to his hand and opened it. He smiled for himself when he saw that familiar handwriting...
"Meet me in the gardens after you find this note. I'll be waiting by our willow tree..." - K.
Baatar red the note once again and it cheered him up a bit. Kuvira made him happy all the time... Baatar remembered all that secret kisses and hugs in the shadows of the willow tree during Kuvira's watches. It was the place where they were always meeting when they started dating...

Flashback, 5 months ago
It was late afternoon and Kuvira had her watch in the Beifongs' Residence. There was snow everywhere and Kuvira tried to warm her hands with her breath. Their winter uniforms should be warmer but Kuvira always felt cold by the end of her watch.
Her cheeks were red from cold air and Kuvira couldn't wait for her watch to finally end...
While walking across the lowest cascade of the Beifongs' Gardens, Kuvira watched the sunset and tried to catch the last warm sunlight to warm up a little... She closed her eyes and felt the sunlight on her cheeks...
It was such a peaceful moment, the winter in Zaofu was always beautiful...
But Kuvira's thoughts were disturbed. She didn't know someone was following her...
Baatar was coming back from the City Center and saw Kuvira in the gardens. He saw that she is cold and he decided to warm her up a little. He hided himself behind the willow tree and threw a snowball on Kuvira's back.
"Ahhh." Kuvira yelled as she didn't expect that and that snowball caught her by surprise. She turned around and was looking everywhere. Someone was making fun of her...
Baatar wanted to laugh but he knew Kuvira would heard him.
Kuvira thought it were Wing and Wei. After a while when she didn't see anyone she decided to ignore it and she continued in her watch...
Baatar saw Kuvira walking away and he quickly made one more snowball. This time, he managed to hit Kuvira's butt. He laughed when he saw how Kuvira jumped up in reaction.
Kuvira heard someone laughing behind the willow tree and quickly ran there. Baatar knew he's in trouble. He decided to sneak to Kuvira from behind.
Kuvira prepared her metal cable and was decided to find whoever threw that snowball on her. But when she was looking around the willow tree, Baatar sneaked from behind.
"I am here..." Baatar said and Kuvira quickly turned around. It was Baatar all the time...
"Baatar-..." but before she could finish the sentence Baatar wrapped his arms around Kuvira's waist and they shared a warm kiss while leaning on the trunk of the willow.
Kuvira laughed and wrapped her arms around Baatar's neck. He had snowflakes in his short hair… She always loved how funny Baatar could be. Since Kuvira started dating him, she was much happier. She felt like having someone to live for...
"Baatar wait. I have to work." Kuvira said with smile and hoped nobody sees them.
Baatar caressed Kuvira's cheek and whispered: "I wanted to warm you up a little." they were now hugging tightly and Kuvira looked into his eyes... They shared a quiet moment and then... they closed the gap between them again.
They shared many warm kisses that afternoon...
End of flashback

Baatar's face was marked with smile when this nice memory filled his mind. He headed straight to the gardens... he knew Kuvira was waiting for him and he was curious why she wrote that note...Baatar hoped everything is alright...

It was hot sunny afternoon and Kuvira was nervously waiting in the Beifongs' Gardens. She was sitting on the grass in the shadows of the willow tree and was looking at little daisies growing in front of her...
Kuvira took a deep breath and felt her heart beating fastly. She was scared of how Baatar's reaction will be... He could be angry, he could be happy... Kuvira knew Baatar is really kind and wouldn't be mad at her because she chose to keep the baby. Baatar is nothing like that...
But there was still fear in Kuvira. She's gonna tell Baatar that he's going to be a father in just a few months...
He will be surprised and in shock but Kuvira knew Baatar will support her. In everything... and she would do the same for him...
Kuvira looked at the direction of the main entrance of Beifongs' Residence but she still didn't see Baatar coming... Kuvira sighed and picked one daisy. Her hands were shaking but she knew she has to tell him...
"You will meet your daddy soon." Kuvira whispered and slowly put her shaking hand on her tiny bump. The baby's heartbeat was strong as always and Kuvira caressed her stomach lovingly. "I am sure he will love you the same way like I do..." she smiled. Kuvira breathed out and closed her eyes. The rythm of baby's heartbeat always calmed her down. "and tomorrow, we will go on a very nice trip together." Kuvira continued.
The birds were singing and soft breeze was playing with Kuvira's loose hair strands. She put them behind her ears and looked up to the sky. In just a few moments, Kuvira finally won't be the only one who knows about the little one. She won't have to be alone on everything...

Baatar walked out of the Beifongs' Residence and headed straight to gardens. It was really spacious but he knew exactly where Kuvira is waiting. Their willow tree...
While going down stairs Baatar saw a tram coming from the City Center. His mother and the avatar had to be returning... but Baatar has totally different interest right now.
When he got on the lowest cascade of the Beifongs' Gardens he saw Kuvira sitting on the grass in her dark green dress and holding a daisy in her hand. He smiled for himself. Baatar liked when Kuvira wasn't in her professional captain mode and was just herself...
Kuvira heard Baatar coming and quickly stood up. She looked at him and greeted him with soft smile. "Hello Baatar..." Kuvira said quietly and went closer to him.
"Hello Kuvira. You look beautiful." Baatar replied with smile and they shared a tigh loving hug. Kuvira loved feeling Baatar's strong arms around her however it was a bit uncomfortable now because her breasts were sensitive due to pregnancy...
"Thank you." Kuvira replied and put her arms around Baatar's neck. He tried to look calm but Kuvira knew that something on the meeting went wrong. His eyes told her everything. But right now, she had to focus on the announcment before she looses courage.
"I am sorry to be late. The meeting ended a while ago and I rushed here immediately." Baatar said and caressed Kuvira's cheek. "Is everything alright?" he added and Kuvira's heart started beating even faster.
"Yeah... everything is fine." Kuvira said and saw that there are concerns in Baatar's eyes.
"I thought that something bad happened when I saw a note from you." Baatar answered and Kuvira looked in his light green eyes.
"I wrote that note because I have to tell you something important, Baatar." Kuvira said and saw how Baatar raised his eyebrows curiously while his arms were wrapped around her waist.
"Hmm... It sounds interesting. What it is Kuvira?" Baatar asked with smile and Kuvira took a deep breath. The moment of announcment was there and Kuvira felt really nervous. She knew she's shaking a little but she hoped Baatar won't notice...
"The thing is... Baatar... I... I think I am pre… prepared to reveal our relationship to everyone. It's been already three months since I've became a captain and I think it's time..." Kuvira said and was angry at herself because she lost courage. Baatar gave Kuvira a big smile and gently caressed her cheek.
"That's amazing. We won't have to hide anymore and we could finally enjoy some time together in public... We could go to the theater. I know you like it..." Baatar was happy and Kuvira couldn't help but smile as well. She knew that something bad happened on the meeting, but sparks in his eyes now totally wiped out his worries..
"Yes. That would be amazing." Kuvira replied and knew that she has to tell Baatar now... Before she looses her courage again.
"We could tell my family about us today during dinner." Baatar said joyfully and spinned Kuvira around in the air.
When Baatar put Kuvira back on the ground she gave him a smile and they shared a loving kiss... Kuvira felt the baby's heartbeat again and took a deep breath. "Kuvira, you have to tell him! Now!" she thought for herself and felt her legs shaking. Kuvira looked at the ground and then she looked directly to Baatar's eyes...
"Baatar wait... There is one more important thing I need to tell you..." Kuvira said nervously and was still reminding herself that she's talking to Baatar and there's no need to be afraid... But she was about to tell him a life changing information... It was not easy at all.
"What it is, my love?" Baatar said calmly and held Kuvira's hands in his. Baatar saw that Kuvira is not herself somehow. She was worried... even though she tried to hide it...
Kuvira took a deep breath and picked all her courage. "Baatar, there is one more important information..." her body was now shaking and Baatar felt it.
"Are you sure everything is alright, Kuvira? You are shaking." Baatar said with worries and Kuvira continued...
"I.. I am alright..it's just... just..." Kuvira said quietly and was about to place Baatar's hand on her little bump. Actions speaks better than words...
"Baatar... I am pr-..." but before Kuvira could finish the sentence or put Baatar's hand on her belly... Suyin, Korra and Asami ran towards them.
"Kuvira here you are! We have emergency!" Suyin called loudly and Baatar with Kuvira got scared. They didn't know someone was so close to them.
Suyin wasn't sure why her son is in the gardens with Kuvira but right now... there was much more important things. Asami, Korra and Suyin couldn't catch breath when they reached Baatar and Kuvira.
Kuvira was sad that they were disturbed. She almost told Baatar about their child and now the moment was ruined...
"What happened?" Baatar asked with concerns and looked at his mother...
Suyin took a deep breath and started talking. "It's the Red Lotus... They attacked Northern Air Temple and Opal with others are there!" Korra put her hand on Suyin's shoulder to comfort her and Baatar felt fear. His little sister was in danger...
"Oh no..."Kuvira gasped and turned herself to her captain mode.
"I need you to find ten best metalbending guards and prepare the airship while Korra will try to find Zaheer in the Spirit World." Suyin ordered Kuvira and she nodded.
Baatar watched his mother run away and Korra with Asami rushed to find a quiet place for meditation. Kuvira knew she has to go now...
"Baatar...I have to go... " Kuvira said sadly and kissed Baatar for the last time... but before she could go, Baatar caught her hand tightly and she turned back at him...
Baatar didn't like the idea of Kuvira going on such a dangerous mission. He was worried about Opal and others as well but Baatar felt like he should stop Kuvira from leaving..
"Kuvira wait... what did you want to tell me?" Baatar asked with concerns and looked deep into Kuvira's eyes. She really wanted to tell him.. but now... It would be so rushed and Kuvira wanted them to have some alone time for this conversation..
"Baatar... I have to go.. I promise I will tell you on our trip..." Kuvira replied and saw that this answer didn't convince Baatar at all..
"Just promise me you will be careful.." Baatar said with worries and they shared a quiet moment by just looking at each other..."I will." Kuvira said quietly.
After a while, they shared the last loving embrace. "I love you." Baatar whispered to Kuvira's ear and he smelled the sweet scent of her parfume...
Kuvira was hiding her face in Baatar's t-shirt and enjoyed the last moments of feeling safe in his arms. "I love you too." Kuvira whispered back and in her mind she added: "we both do..."
Then they separated... Kuvira knew she has to go. The duty was calling. As she was running to the tram she turned at Baatar for the last time before going to the City Center.
He was still standing under the willow tree and was watching her... Kuvira waved at him softly and then continued. She wanted to stay here with him but right now, she had to be a captain. She had to go on that dangerous mission...
Baatar had a strange feelings. Everything what happened last few days... murder of the Earth queen, riots in Ba Sing Se, attack on the Northern Air Temple...
Baatar knew Kuvira is really strong and brave but he was worried about her. As Baatar watched Kuvira leaving by the tram he wondered what important information Kuvira wanted to tell him...
It will have to wait for their trip on Sunday... Little did he know that their destiny has different plans for them...
Kuvira didn't get a chance to tell Baatar about the baby...but he is already sensing something. Stay tuned.
