New chapter is finally here. I am so sorry for the delay but this is actually really long and important chapter and I wanted it to be perfect. The Metal Clan airship, few hours later
The engines were making loud noises as the airship was flying to the Northern Air Temple... It was late afternoon now and Kuvira with her soldiers, Beifongs and team avatar were heading to defeat the Red Lotus and set airbenders free...
When Kuvira got back to the Guards' Residence after Suyin interrupted her and Baatar, Kuvira immediately rushed to her office and organized an emergency unit, which consisted of six best metalbending guards, and gave orders to prepare the airship for take off.
Kuvira was sad that she didn't have a chance to tell Baatar about their little baby... She planned it for so long and now it had to wait untill she return from this dangerous mission... she hoped everything will be alright...
When Kuvira finished with organising the guards unit, she quickly ran to her apartment to took on her uniform and helmet. Kuvira made her belt a bit looser around her waist and carefully put her armor on sensitive chest.
Kuvira hoped that the baby will be safe behind her metal armor... The Red Lotus was really dangerous but Kuvira knew she has to go... She was a captain and it was her duty to protect the Avatar...and to fight along side her guards...
Kuvira looked into the mirror for the last time and took a deep breath. This was supposed to be a happy day for Kuvira but everything changed in just a few seconds. Instead of being with Baatar, Kuvira had to go miles far away...
Her hands were shaking a bit but Kuvira knew she had to rush to the airship station... They couldn't waste time because airbenders needed their help...
But Kuvira's small part still wished she could stay at home...

Probably twenty minutes later, everyone was waiting on the Airship Station and was getting ready for take off.
Suyin and her sister arrived together with team avatar and chief Tonraq while talking about the conversation which Korra had with Zaheer in the Spirit World.
Kuvira and other guards were already waiting for them and the cold wave ran trough Kuvira's spine when she saw Theo and Kai carrying a huge box with first aid supplies... They had to be prepared for everything.
"Start boarding everyone!" chief Lin called out loudly and everybody did as she said. Kuvira was the last one standing on the platform and she was looking at the sky. It got cloudy and windy... Kuvira felt cold breeze in her loose hair and looked at the Beifongs' Residence for the last time... She wished she could keep the baby safely here with Baatar where there is no danger but it wasn't possible...She had to be really careful.
Kuvira sighed and looked back at the airship. They had to go now... Kuvira quickly got inside and closed the main door.
Everything on the airship was made of metal and Kuvira felt a strange feeling inside of her. She actually... never traveled by the airship before and was scared of heights but she tried to hide her insecurity as much as she could.
When the engines started working loudly, the wave of fear ran through Kuvira's body again and her breathing got faster.
She has never got out of Zaofu... Kuvira knew only village where she was born and Zaofu.
Wherever they are heading right now, it will be the farthest Kuvira has ever been...
There were times when Baatar was already studying at Ba Sing Se and his parents with siblings went on the holiday to the coast to see the ocean but Kuvira... was never invited... She was fourteen at that time and was supossed to be training at the guards' school when the Beifongs' were enjoying their family time...
Kuvira closed her eyes as she felt the airship taking off. Lia went closer to her and said: "You are ordered to join the meeting with Beifongs and team avatar, captain." Kuvira looked at her and nodded...she was disturbed from her old memories... They had to come up with a plan on how to ambush the Red Lotus and save Opal with other airbenders...
Kuvira thought about her words for a while and then felt relief when she realized Baatar hasn't became an airbender as Opal did. They would have been separated and Baatar would now be in danger... Kuvira wouldn't even be able to tell him about their little one face to face...
Of course Kuvira was worried about Opal and others as well but she didn't even want to think about what would happen if Baatar got seriously injured or worse...
Kuvira now felt anxiety and tried to feel the baby's heartbeat. It's strong regular rythm always calmed her down and the baby was a little reminder that Baatar is safe at Zaofu...Little did Kuvira know at that time how worried Baatar was about her right now...
Kuvira knew that since getting pregnant, her feelings required much more attention... She was not able to isolate her fear as she could do it before. Kuvira was much more sensitive these days... she didn't know if it was good or bad trait for a captain of Zaofu guards...

Team avatar and Beifongs were standing around huge table with a map and were planning their operation. Kuvira was standing close and was carefully listening to every word... but sometimes her thoughts got completly far away.
The reason was that Kuvira felt a bit nauseous. The baby didn't like flying at all but Kuvira had to stay professional and act like nothing is wrong...So Kuvira decided not to talk and just listen but she didn't like any plan Suyin came up with. Kuvira still felt that the Red Lotus is trying something more...
When Korra annouced to everyone that she's willing to sacrifice herself to protect the Air Nation, Kuvira immediately knew it was not a good idea. She had talent for feeling a traps miles away... They have to stay focused and ready to attack in every minute...

After a few hours of flight. Suyin finally made a plan. It was decided that they will divide into two teams. One team is going to be Mako, Bolin and Asami. Their mission will be saving the airbenders... and the second team will be all metalbenders and chief Tonraq. They should be a back up unit in case something will go wrong...
Kuvira knew that they still have advantage in numbers apart from the Red Lotus but the memory of the night when four of them attacked Zaofu filled her mind. They've almost won... Kuvira realized she was already pregnant at that time but she didn't know about it... Her baby was in danger. She couldn't let it happen again... She hoped her armor will protect the baby if something goes wrong...
The wave of fear ran trough Kuvira's spine and she felt nervousness. But at the same time, second part of her was excited to finally lead her unit as a captain on mission. Kuvira knew they have to win today... for airbenders, for world and for the little one who will come in December... Kuvira swore to fight for a world where her child could be safe...
When the meeting ended, Kuvira told all guards how the mission is planned and also told them Suyin's order to have some rest before the airship gets to it's final destination.
All guards nodded and Kuvira wondered wether this order applies on her as well. Normaly, she was a workaholic... but now... Kuvira knew she has to have some rest... not for herself but for the baby...for one little passenger nobody knew about...
While passing by Suyin and her sister. Kuvira heard them talking about something but she didn't listen. She headed to the corner of the cabin and sat down on the floor because all the seats were taken. But she didn't mind it. Kuvira could hide in the corner and have some privacy because there were boxes with first aid supplies and blankets for airbenders. She took of her helmet and put it on the cabin floor next to her...
Kuvira sighed and leaned her back on the wall, she still felt nauseous and sounds of engines made her nervous. They still had probably two hours before they'll reach Laghima's Peak...
Kuvira put her hand on her lower belly and felt strong heartbeat...
"I know you don't like flying... I don't like it as well." Kuvira said to her baby in her thoughts and slowly caressed her bump so nobody could see that...
"Your dad really likes flying. I think you've took fear of heights after me..." Kuvira was now smiling softly. She wondered if the baby will take some more features after her... maybe her eye or hair color... Kuvira will knew all of it in less than seven months... Hopefuly, everything will go well today...
Guru Laghima's Peak, two hours later.
It was early morning and the sun was still hidden behind the mountains of the Air Nomad's land... The wind was pretty strong and the sky was cloudy...
The mist was hiding the top of the Peak and the Metal Clan airship appeared in the fog unseen. They had an advantage of moment of surprise...
When the airship landed, Kuvira was the first one to who walked out. It was cold and the meadow where they landed was full of shadows. It was so quiet... like before the storm which is about to come...
Kuvira took a deep breath and her nausea got much better after a while. She watched everyone coming out of the airship and gathered her metalbenders to a row. They were waiting for orders...
"I worry that the combustion lady will destroy us... She can bend explosions in less than a second and I almost got hit back at Zaofu..." Lia said and Kuvira and Theo looked at her.
"We can't divide..." Theo said in serious tone. "only then we'll have a chance..." he added and Kuvira thought about his words.
"Theo is right. If we attack together, she won't be able to take down all of us. It would be too many targets for her... Trying to attack her one by one would be a suicide..." Kuvira said and was now looking at the cloudy sky. Her face stayed professional as always but she was afraid deep inside...
All guards nodded and turned back at Beifongs's and team avatar... Korra was saying goodbye to her father and friends... Kuvira was actually really concerned about her. She was about to turn herself over to the Red Lotus...
She has to know they are plotting something... Kuvira was afraid that if something bad happens to her... the Earth Kingdom will fell into even bigger chaos than it is now...
After a while, Korra took her blue glider and flied to the top of the peak. Kuvira and other metalbenders prepared their metal cables and were about to wait on the peak wall as a back up squad...
Kuvira took a deep breath and looked at her belly for the last time. Her heart was beating fastly and adrenalin was in her blood. She looked at other guards and Beifongs... Nobody knew about her little secret... Nobody was awared of that fact that a pregnant girl is going on such a dangerous mission...
Suyin didn't have an idea that her unborn grandchild is just a few meters far from her...
Chief Lin might seemed cold at the first sight but deep inside... she was really worried about everyone...
Kuvira saw worries in Theo's face as well. He has two little children and he would do everything to get back to them...
Lia's hands were shaking. She tried to hide it but Kuvira knew her too well... She was afraid. As Lia said before, she almost got killed by P'li last time... She won't let her do it again today... Kuvira also noticed that Lia actually developed feelings for Hong Li lately... She wanted to get back to him...
Chief Tonraq... who is willing to do everything to save his only daughter...
Kuvira felt warm feeling inside of her and it gave her strength. She realized that she has someone who is waiting for her as well... Baatar... She's not alone anymore...
Everyone has somebody to return to... and everyone has a reason to fight. There were many people and many unfinished stories but they were all meeting at this time... Their destinys connected and together they created a knot...
It was the quiet before the storm... The quiet before battle... Everybody was standing in front of Guru Laghima's Peak with metal cables ready...
Kuvira took a deep breath and closed her eyes. They were soldiers... and she was their captain. The power of the Metal Clan... It was time...
Suyin gave order and everyone started climbing up at the wall of the peak... The sound of metal cables filled up the air and soldiers of the Metal Clan disappeared in the fog...
...
The sun was slowly rising but clouds didn't let the sunlight cast trough them... The wind was stronger in such a height and Kuvira's hands were cold... They were waiting...
Kuvira was glad that the fog was everywhere around them...she couldn't look down so at least her vertigo wasn't a problem... But the thought of her hanging on a thin metal cable hundred meters high... was still making her heart racing.
All of them were waiting in quiet... Chief Lin was holding a radio and tried to hear something new from Korra or Mako, Bolin and Asami... But nothing was happening... All that quiet was suspicious...
Kuvira sighed and looked around herself... The fog was giving her some privacy for now. Kuvira put one hand on the stone wall and her second hand under her uniform. She was connected with earth and with her baby as well... Her seismic sense assured her that the baby is alright... She caressed her little bump and remembered all that fear and anger which she felt when finding out about being pregnat. Kuvira was scared of her own baby...
But now, all the anger was replaced with happiness... The baby was a light of Kuvira's days and the thought of having a family with a man she loves was making Kuvira's life even brighter...
It was that little heartbeat and Baatar's smile which were giving Kuvira hope and joy...
"I can't wait to meet you little bump..." Kuvira whispered and a soft smile occured on her face. "Nobody else knows about you for now... but I promise that when we get home, I'll tell your dad about you. All three of us will be together again..." Kuvira added and a little tear of happiness appeared on her cheek. "I love you..."
Kuvira sighed and hoped that the avatar will defeat the Red Lotus once and for all. She knew that today, Kuvira will fight for a world where hers and Baatar's baby could be safe and never be afraid... A country where hers and other children won't be in danger and afraid... Not the same way as Kuvira herself was in her childhood...
"Today. I'll make sure you will live in a safe world..." it was the last sentence which Kuvira whispered before she heard the airship engines above her head. The Red Lotus was coming... Kuvira hoped that the avatar is ready to fight them... Kuvira hoped that the back up squad won't be needed at all... but unfortunately... things happened differently...
Chief Beifong had a radio and was waiting for some news... It looked like they will free airbenders and took Korra instead...
Kuvira didn't have a good feeling from all of that... There had to be a trap...
"Apparently only Zaheer and P'li are up there... and Mako is saying that they found Tenzin and other airbenders..." Lin whispered to Suyin and Kuvira heard it as well... "Korra is turning over to the Red Lotus..." she added and then heard how P'li is saying that the chains are platinum...
"They gave Korra platinum chains..." the fog now slightly dissapered so Kuvira could see worries on Lin's and Suyin's faces... Kuvira knew that Korra won't be able to defend herself enough... she might defeat Zaheer but she won't be safe before P'li's explosions... She will loose needed mobility... it wasn't good at all...
"We have to help her." chief Tonraq whispered but Beifong sisters stopped him.
"No Tonraq. We can't do anything before we'll be sure that the airbenders are safe." Suyin said strictly and there was visible anger on Tonraq's face.
"I know it is hard, Tonraq... We will never stop worrying about our children but my Opal is in danger too..." Suyin said sadly. "We have no other choice but wait. Korra wanted it that way..." she added. Kuvira overheard their quiet conversation and felt fear...
Kuvira put her hand on her bump again and took a deep breath. She was a mother now as well... How could she be so worried about someone so small who hasn't been born yet. Her beloved little baby who she and Baatar conceived in love...
She couldn't imagine how chief Tonraq has to feel right now.
Seconds seemed like hours and Kuvira's heart was beating fastly. They had to wait for Mako's messege.
After a while, chief Lin finally spoke out: "Something is happening..." It really was a trap. The airbenders are somewhere totally else and the Red Lotus now got Korra in platinum chains... Kuvira felt wave of adrenalin in her body.
"Go! Go! Go!" Lin Beifong called out loudly and all metalbenders climbed as fast as they could on the top of the peak. They couldn't let them hurt Korra...
Kuvira forgot about her vertigo and was ready to attack. She was in her fighting mode. When they finally got on the top of the peak, Korra was chained and tried to fight Zaheer. Guards had to catch P'li's attention immediately. They were literally living targets now...
Chief Lin was the first one who ran towards P'li and was greeted with giant explosion which threw Kuvira and other guards over the edge of the peak...
Kuvira managed to catch safely onto the stone wall and then rushed back to the top of the peak. She heard two more explosions and sound of falling boulders. Her heart was beating even faster. It had to be Theo and Lia. They are trying to stop P'li from the northern side...This fight was getting more serious than Kuvira could ever know...
When Kuvira got back to the top of the peak she hided behind one boulder and saw Kai and Suyin trying to catch P'li with their metal cables... but she sent another explosion towards them...
On the other side, Kuvira saw avatar Korra and chief Tonraq fighting Zaheer...
When Kuvira saw that P'li is watching Lin Beifong, she bended a giant boulder and threw it with all her force towards P'li... but she managed to jump away in the last second...
She turned at Kuvira and she was now her new target... Kuvira quickly bended stone wall in front of her and hided behind it. She was lucky that chief Beifong caught P'li's attention again and Kuvira quickly ran closer to Theo and Kai. They had to attack together...but they failed again.
Everything happened so fast. The air was filled with explosions and shockwaves... Kuvira almost forgot to breath. She threw many boulders at P'li but she destroyed them with her combustion bending before it even got close to her...
Loud noises were everywhere and even thought there were eight people fighting her... P'li's explosions caused many injuries already...
Kuvira watched others being thrown over the edge of the peak and when P'li turned in the direction of her, Theo and Kai... Kuvira managed to jump away in the last second before strong explosion destroyed part of the peak behind her...
Kuvira fell on the ground so hard that she lost her helmet. She saw that Theo and Kai were thrown over the edge of the peak...
Kuvira lost her breath and was coughing to catch it back. Her chest hurt and she realized she's now the only one on the top of the peak... Everyone else has been thrown over...
When Kuvira saw that P'li is running away to help Zaheer, she knew she had to stop her. Her seeing was blurry from all that adrenalin and dust but Kuvira had to go now... If she would got closer to chained avatar and her father... They wouldn't make it out...
Chief Tonraq won't be able to protect himself and his daughter before P'li's explosions with just his waterbending... It was impossible. Kuvira had to protect her. The avatar had to stay safe... It was the order...
Kuvira took a deep breath and quickly stood up. She took her helmet back on and even though her chest was still hurting, she ran towards P'li on her own. She was the only target now but she had to at least slow her down before others come to help her...It was only Kuvira and P'li now...
Kuvira ran towards her and bended a giant boulder. "Where do you think you're going!" Kuvira called out loudly and threw the boulder on P'li. It landed a meter next to her and one smaller sharp piece hit P'li.
She looked at Kuvira angrily and immediately send explosion in her direction. Kuvira quickly bended a wall in front of her and hided behind it.
After P'li sent one more explosion on Kuvira, she divided the stone wall on smaller segments with her earthbending and was throwing them at P'li one at the time...
Few of them hit P'li and she hit the ground hardly. Kuvira had a chance to get closer to her. She prepared her metal cables and tried to catch P'li. Kuvira planned to block her ability the same way Bolin did back at Zaofu...
But before Kuvira could get close enough, P'li got up and attacked Kuvira. She jumped away just on time... Kuvira gasped as she fell on the ground again. She was now facing P'li as one living target...
Kuvira quickly stood up and used her dance moves to avoid explosions but the intensity was so quick that Kuvira knew she won't be able to hold P'li much longer...
Kuvira quickly bended a boulder in front of her to protect herself and hided behind it. Kuvira wanted to throw boulder at P'li but before she could, it exploded just a few meters in front of her due to the second explosion... It happend so fast that Kuvira wasn't even able to protect herself...
One segment of the boulder hit Kuvira to her hip so hard, that it's force and shockwave trew Kuvira over the edge of the peak...
"Aaaagh." Kuvira screamed as she felt pain in her left leg and hip... She was desoriented and heard ringing in her ears... Kuvira felt cold wind on her skin and realized she's falling...
Kuvira's eyes got widely open and she saw the peak getting smaller and smaller... Kuvira immediately bended a metal cables to catch onto the peak stone wall and she groaned in pain when her fall was stopped so quickly.
The landing didn't really go as planned but Kuvira's heart was beating so fastly that she ignored all the pain. She was hanging on the side of the peak and sighed in pain again.
Kuvira's breathing was fast and she was still in schock... Kuvira quickly put her hand on her stomach and prayed that the baby is alright... Kuvira's body was acheing and her heart was beating so fastly that she wasn't able to sense the second heartbeat over it...
She felt fear and her body started shaking. Kuvira didn't care about her vertigo at all... she only cared about the baby now... Kuvira caressed her little bump and tried to calm her own heartbeat... She knew her seismic sense works only when she's concentrated enough...
"Please... gave me a sign that you are alright... please..." Kuvira felt tears in her eyes and begged her child to do something... She still couldn't catch breath and her voice was cracking...
She heard more explosions from the peak and knew that others fight P'li now. But Kuvira's mind was somewhere totally else... "Please... " Kuvira whispered again and felt the biggest wave of relief when she could sense the baby's little heart again...
"Oh I was so worried about you, little bump..." Kuvira said with relief in her voice and caressed her belly. She was so scared when she thought something bad happened to her little one.
The feeling of relief was undescribeable...
Kuvira was hanging in the air and the sounds of explosions continued. She felt burning pain in her left leg and Kuvira still had trouble catching breath...
She had to go back up there. She couldn't let others fight on their own... Kuvira was a captain, she had to fight along side her unit...
Kuvira took a few more deep breaths and caressed her baby for the last time. Kuvira picked all her courage and started climbing up...
But before she got there she heard the avatar screaming desperately... "Daaaad!"
Kuvira looked up to the sky and saw chief Tonraq falling over the edge of the peak few meters far from her...
"Aaaaagh!" he was screaming and Kuvira realized he has no water to bend... he won't survive without it... Kuvira quickly bended her metal cables and she was no longer attached to the peak wall...
Kuvira was falling again and when she got close enough to chief Tonraq, Kuvira bended her metal cable and called: "Hold on!"
The first metal cable wrapped around chief's arm and the second one attached to the mountain... The landing wasn't the smoothest again but Kuvira was glad she managed to safe chief Tonraq...
"Are you alright?!" Kuvira called as she was holding Tonraq on the cable and he hit the stone wall really badly...
"I am!" Tonraq called back and Kuvira felt relief...but before she could say something else, she heard next explosion from the peak... But this time... it sounded differently... like a bell...
Kuvira knew that something had to happen... she was looking up but she couldn't see anybody... They had to defeat P'li... because there were no more explosions... Now they have to fight Zaheer...
It was actually really hard for Kuvira to hold her own weight and chief Tonraq's weight on the metal cable but she didn't want to show it... They couldn't move and they weren't able to get back up to Korra...
Kuvira tried to come up with a plan but before she could think of something, her jaw dropped as she saw Zaheer flying without using his airbending... Kuvira didn't have any idea it was possible...
But there was something worse... Zaheer kidnapped Korra and was flying away with her... Kuvira hoped she's not dead... How could the most powerful bender be defeated by a man who has his airbending for barely a month... It couldn't be true...
"Korra..." chief Tonraq said in sad tone of voice and watched his daughter disappear in the clouds...
Kuvira hoped that there's still some strength in Korra... It had to be...she couldn't almost get killed for nothing... Kuvira was desperate...
...
When they all got back down to the valley, Kuvira had still trouble breathing and she felt burning pain in her left hip... but it was nothing in comparison to bleeding wounds of other guards.
Kuvira was glad that they kept first aid supplies outside of the airship. It was really needed right now...
All those explosions caused many injuries and Kuvira felt really stressed when she saw her unit of guards in uniforms soaked with blood... She immediately helped everyone sit down and then ran closer to the box with bandages and desinfection...the adrenalin was her fuel now...
Kuvira looked at all of them and had to decide who needs her help first... and it was Kai. He had really bad wound on his right arm which was bleeding really seriously and blood was also running out of his ear. Kuvira took off her helmet and started putting bandages on Kai's arm... He had to have a concussion as well...
Lia had only small wounds which were not that serious so she assisted Kuvira and they helped Kai to a stable position. Kuvira didn't have time to think about her own injuries... Her guards were on the first place. Kuvira then helped other guards as well...
Theo's ankle had a really bad day today and two other guards had wounds on their arms as well... At least they got rid off P'li... She almost killed them all with her explosions...
"Chief Tonraq? Are you a water healer?" Kuvira asked him but unfortunately, chief Tonraq was not a master of this kind of bending... They had to cope with injuries on their own...
Lia and Kuvira managed to stabilize Kai and then Suyin and her sister joined them. There were still no news from Mako, Bolin and Asami...
Kuvira hoped that the avatar won't give up and will have enough strength to fight the rest of the Red Lotus...but right now, they didn't even know where Zaheer took her... and their airship was gone...
The atmosphere among guards and Beifongs was now sad and quiet... Nobody knew what to do and Kuvira's own mind traveled to her baby...
Kuvira still felt pain in her chest, back and hip... She hoped that baby was protected enough by her armor...
When she finished bandaging Theo's ankle, Kuvira stood up and went a bit far away from others to the place where huge box with first aid supplies was... She kneeled before it and when she was sure nobody is looking at her... Kuvira put her hand on little bump...
She tried to calm down her breathing and after few seconds, Kuvira felt the second heartbeat. Her mind was filled with gratefulness. Her baby was alright... Kuvira now had a soft smile on her face and caressed her belly. "I am so happy that you are alright, little one..." Kuvira whispered quietly and knew she has to return to others before it will be suspicious...
Kuvira grabbed few more bandages and headed back. The next person with bleeding wound was chief Tonraq. His injury was not that serious but still required attention... Kuvira kneeled and started putting desinfection and bandages on chief's left arm... The metal cable seriously demaged chief's skin but it was still better than being dead...
Chief Tonraq had sad face expression on his face and Kuvira couldn't imagine how hard it has to be for him. His only daughter was kidnapped by the Red Lotus and he doesn't know if she's still alive... It has to be really horrible...
Kuvira now had sad face expression on her face as well... She didn't even want to think about what if something bad happened to her little baby... Kuvira was glad that her little one was safely placed inside of her... Where there's no danger... Kuvira sighed but was disturbed from her deep thoughts by chief Tonraq's voice...
"I owe you my life..." he said and Kuvira looked at him.. She realized that if P'li didn't hit her, and Kuvira wouldn't fell over the edge of the Peak... Chief Tonraq would be probably dead now... "Thank you captain." he added and Kuvira gave him a soft smile. Everything happens for a reason.
"You can call me... Kuvira." she said and chief Tonraq nodded. Kuvira could see thankfulness in his eyes... But before she could say anything else, loud noises could be heard from afar...
"Ka-kaw! Ka-kaw!" everyone looked up to the sky and they saw a small flying bison getting closer to them. Mako, Bolin and Asami returned together with Tenzin and one young airbender... Kuvira didn't know his name...
Suyin and Lin rushed to them and chief Tonraq did as well... Kuvira saw that master Tenzin is injured so she quickly ran for more first aid supplies so she could help him...
Later, she found out that the Northern Air Temple was destroyed and all airbenders are inprisoned in the near caves... Korra might be with them as well...
Kuvira knew the avatar has to live... she is the only one who can save the Earth Kingdom... and keep peace in the world... Kuvira put herself and her child into dangerous situation so Korra could live... the avatar can't give up now...
When little airbender named Kai told them everything he knew, the bigger flying bison occured on the sky.
"Oogie!" Tenzin called happily and the ground shaked a bit when the bison landed.
"At least we can get to that caves now..." chief Lin said and they immediately started preparing for the next fight.
Kuvira held bandages in her hands but she was not talking. Her mind was now concentrating on the fact that there is more members of the Red Lotus... Hopefuly they're not as powerful as the ones who attacked Zaofu...
Suyin helped Kuvira treat Tenzin's wounds and when they finished, a flying bison was prepared for flight...
Kuvira looked around herself and saw unit of her guards sitting in the circle. Most of them were injured and Kuvira knew that the more people will stand against the Red Lotus the better.
She took a deep breath and ran back to Suyin. Kuvira wanted to help them...
Suyin was already on the top of the bison when Kuvira got to her. She looked at her and said: "I want to go with you."
Suyin turned around and looked down at Kuvira with neutral face expression. "No Kuvira. Stay with the injured... We'll come back for you once we'll have the avatar..." Suyin said and Kuvira nodded.
One ambitious part of her really wanted to go and fight but her second part was glad that the baby won't have to face more danger today...
Kuvira watched them fly away and prayed to spirits in her mind... everything will be alright... It had to be... For the sake of the Earth Kingdom and it's people...
When the flying bison disappeared in the clouds, Kuvira turned around and slowly walked back to other guards... They all seemed to be out of danger the worst and their injuries were stabilized ...
Kuvira went closer to Lia and saw that the bandage on her wrist needed to be changed... Kuvira kneeled down next to her and put a new bandage on...
"Thanks" Lia said and Kuvira gave her a soft smile. The guards were talking about what just happened and they couldn't do nothing else than wait...
It was really hard for Kuvira to not be able to do something to actually help the avatar but right now, she was where she needed to be...with her guards... even though she still had to help the avatar.
A few hours later, Kuvira and others heard loud noises from afar and huge tornado was visible on the sky... The fight was continuing...
"It has to be really serious..." Theo said with concerns when all guards were looking in the direction of the tornado...
"Hopefuly they will make it out alright..." Lia said in a quiet tone of voice as she was sitting on the ground...
"We'll be glad if they'll make it out alive..." Kai said but he started coughing before he could finish the sentence... He was getting worse...
Kuvira looked at him with worries and went closer to him... She kneeled next to him and saw that he was not bleeding that seriously anymore but his concussion made all guards worried...
"I'll bring you water, Kai." Kuvira said in calm tone of voice and picked his water bottle. Kuvira wanted to fill the bottle in the near spring but when she stood up... something happened and the bottle fell out of Kuvira's hands...
"Aaagh." Kuvira gasped loudly as she felt sudden wave of sharp pain in her lower back... Kuvira was not able to stay standing and fell on the ground...
"Kuvira!" Theo and Lia called unisono with worries and rushed closer to her. Walking was difficult for Theo since his ankle was hurt but he tried to help Kuvira stand up.
Kuvira felt that sharp pain for about five seconds and than it faded away... Her breathing was fast and Kuvira felt her heart racing... It happened so fast and out of nowhere...she hoped that the baby is alright...
"Are you okay?" Theo asked with concerns as he supported barely standing Kuvira...
"Yeah... I... I just... stood up too quickly and had a cramp in my back... that's all..." Kuvira said quietly and tried to stay strong even thought her lower back was still hurting...
"You have to take some rest Kuvira." Lia said strictly and Theo nodded. Kuvira would normaly protest that she's alright, but now, she realized she is up for more than 24 hours already...
She had to take some rest... mainly because of the baby... Kuvira was worried and hoped that sharp pain in her back was not hurting the baby...
Theo helped Kuvira sit down carefuly and Lia filled all the bottles with water in the spare time...
When she got back, Kuvira drank full bottle of water and leaned her back on the side of one boulder. She tried to calm her fast breathing down a bit... She couldn't let all that stress and adrenalin took control over her body...
When Lia walked away from her, Kuvira quickly put her hand on her stomach and felt calmer when sensing the baby's heartbeat...
"I was so scared... I thought something bad happed to you, little bump..." Kuvira said to her baby in her thoughts and closed her eyes for a while... "It's alright now... we will have some rest..." she was now caressing her bump and was thinking about Baatar... She knew he haven't slept all night and is thinking about her now... about everyone... "I am sure your dad is thinking about us right now...I feel it... "
Warm feeling filled Kuvira's chest and she focused on a strong rythm of the baby's heart.
She was slowly taking deep breaths and when she opened her yes again... she saw the first bright sunlight casting trough the clouds for the first time today...The darkness was replaced with light again...
All the loud wind noises were gone and it was silence now... In that moment Kuvira knew for sure that the avatar have won... They will finally go home... back to Baatar... Kuvira couldn't wait to return back to him... he was her family...
Sooo the Red Lotus was defeated but at what cost? Stay tuned for the next chapters...
