Confront…

00000

Harry woke up feeling Daphne's gentle breath on his face. He opened his eyes and saw her sleeping only inches away from him. She looked so peaceful when she slept, Harry thought. It made him smile. He gently removed the lock of her blond hair from her face so he could look at her properly. He still couldn't believe that things had worked out between the two of them. Even though he had to tell her about his relatives – something that he had told no one – and the fact that Daphne could be in more danger than before, Harry felt like he could take on any problem that would come their way.

He struggled to stifle a yawn fearing he might wake her up as he slowly sat up before making sure Daphne was tucked in comfortably under the blanket. Harry also realized that it was the first time when he didn't have the nightmare that had plagued him since the end of his third year.

After confessing their feelings and telling each other about their lives, Harry and Daphne had spent the night in the room of requirement itself as neither of them wanted to be apart from one another. He smiled again as he still couldn't believe that he was with Daphne now. However, he also knew that it made things difficult for both of them and Harry wondered how he could keep them safe. He hadn't told her about the prophecy and was hoping to keep it a secret from her simply because he didn't want Daphne to worry about his fated clash with Voldemort.

Deep down Harry knew he couldn't win against Voldemort simply because how powerful the dark wizard was. That man had brought Magical Britain down on its knees over a decade ago while simultaneously scaring the rest of the magical world. Not to mention even Dumbledore acknowledged how dangerous Voldemort was. All those things spoke how powerful that dark wizard was and if an entire nation and one of the most powerful wizards of all time couldn't stop him what could Harry do? He knew he would die the minute the spell left Voldemort's wand. Harry knew that Daphne was smart enough to deduce that too which is why he didn't want her to worry about him by telling her about the prophecy.

As he thought about it he realized how much he cared about her which made Harry wonder whether Daphne was now the most important person in his life. He looked at her as he thought about how he had come to trust her the minute he had met her in the library that day. That hadn't happened to him before with any other person. Even after coming to the magical world Harry was hesitant to trust people simply because he was afraid that they would end up betraying or hurting him. He felt so because of the way he had been brought up by his relatives. However, when he met Daphne and she told him why she didn't believe that he had put his name in the goblet, it made Harry trust her in an instant.

He once again looked at her and her peaceful, beautiful face. He couldn't lose her, Harry thought. He would die if he did. He hadn't felt so emotionally dependant on anyone else before. Hell, she was the first person to whom Harry had shown so much trust. His eyes became wet as he realized that he might not be able to spend his life with her but then he thought of the present and seeing her asleep beside him told Harry to enjoy these moments for as long as he could.

It was then that Daphne opened her eyes and saw him looking at her. She moaned lightly as she stretched her hands before sitting up slowly. "Good morning," she said before she saw the look on Harry's face. "What's the matter?" she asked.

Harry came out of his thoughts and smiled. "Just thinking about how I got so lucky," he said.

Daphne smiled before softly kissing him on the lips and then followed it by snuggling close to him. Harry wrapped his hands around her, holding her like a big pillow and they remained like that for a while. He liked being in her embrace. It made him feel complete.

"I thought about something last night," she said. "I want you to come with me to my home this summer, after the term ends." Harry looked at her a little surprised. "I promised you that I will have my father get Sirius a trial, didn't I? It's for that. Besides, until Sirius is a free man you will be living with me. We can also find out more about your mother's protection spell. My mother is a healer so her skills will definitely be of help."

"Would…it be alright?" Harry asked nervously.

Daphne smiled. "Relax," she said. "If you are worried about my parents not knowing about us then don't. Something tells me that they already knew about us ending up together. I think I'll have to apologize to Astoria though." Harry looked at her questioningly. Daphne sighed. "I told her not to talk to Colin Creevey when here I am with my Gryffindor boyfriend." She saw the surprised look on Harry's face. "What?" she asked.

"Nothing," Harry said blushing slightly. "I…uh, I like the sound of that," he said.

Daphne blushed as well before she got off of the bed. "Well, I think we should hurry or we'll miss the classes," she said as she looked at the clock that she had asked the room to provide. Harry watched her as he kept sitting on the bed when she stopped and looked at him. She raised a brow, silently asking him if he had something on his mind.

"I still don't get how they figured out about us," Harry said talking about the coordinators.

"Well, the only person who can tell us about it is Draco," Daphne said. "Tracey told me that he told you to rescue me?" Harry nodded.

"I tried asking him but he said nothing to me," Harry said.

"He'll talk to me," Daphne said.

There it was again, Harry thought. The way Daphne had talked about Draco made him wonder about her and the Slytherin. "What is he to you – Draco?" he asked after a minute. "He clearly cares about you with the way he came looking for you on the night of Yule Ball."

Daphne looked at him for a moment before smirking. "Are you jealous?" she said. Harry rolled his eyes in mild frustration. "He's not what you are probably thinking right now," she said. "He is more like a brother. Our families have known each other for a very long time and believe it or not once you get to know Draco personally he isn't that bad. Well, the arrogance is there but he doesn't treat you like trash or someone who isn't worth even being looked at by him."

Harry blinked in surprise as he found it hard to believe. "So, he's faking it – his self – like you have been?" Harry asked.

"Well, it's different for him," Daphne said. "From where his family stands, you can say that the Malfoys are at the top of the food chain when it comes to dark pureblood families. The Malfoys are seen as their leader. It has been like that for decades. Draco, however, is not interested in the politics or his family's position in the Wizengamot. All he wants is for his father to be proud of him and for that he will do anything."

Harry could only look at her with wide, open eyes as Daphne chuckled softly. "I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true," she said. "We've known each other since we were very small. While the relation between our fathers isn't that great, our mothers are old friends since their Hogwarts' days. Draco's mother was two years senior to mine and she took my mother under her care after my mother was sorted in Slytherin."

"Why did she need to protect your mother?" Harry asked.

"Because my mother is a half-blood," Daphne said. "You clearly look shocked," she said looking at Harry's face.

"I, uh…thought that the Slytherin house only consisted of…"

"Purebloods?" she said interrupting him. Harry nodded slowly. "That's not true," Daphne said. "While their number is very small compared to the purebloods there are some half-bloods in Slytherin. There is even one now. He is in sixth year and his name is Oscar Adams. You might've seen him."

Harry had. He was the quiet guy who often sat away from the rest of his housemates but being in Slytherin Harry had barely paid any attention to him. All he knew was his name because Oscar had tried out for beater's position for Slytherin last year. Harry had seen him during the tryouts and was actually impressed with how the boy had handled the bludgeons. However, he wasn't selected, not even as a reserve and now Harry knew why. It was probably because of his blood status. But with the revelation of this new information Harry wondered if there were any muggleborns in Slytherin and so he asked Daphne the same.

"No," she said shaking her head. "Not a single muggleborn has been sorted into Slytherin since the start of Hogwarts over a thousand years ago. I guess if such a day ever comes than Slytherin will become a laughing stock and that particular student will be tortured every day within our house walls."

Harry scoffed at the ridiculousness of that even though he knew it was the truth. "So," he sighed, "who knew Draco actually had a good side?" he said.

"If he didn't, he would've never told you about me taken to the lake," Daphne said.

Harry tried not to think of the moment as he hugged her. At first she was surprised but then she hugged him back. "And you saved me," Daphne said. "I also heard from Fleur how you rescued all four of us – me and the other three girls from the merpeople's village while Cedric and Viktor kept the merpeople busy."

"It was a joint effort," Harry said. "Cedric came up with the idea. We needed to hurry because the cold water had started to affect Fleur. To be honest if she hadn't come to my rescue then I would've put you and the other girls in even more danger."

"I know everything," Daphne said. "Fleur told me about it. She also told me you have something planned for the third challenge?" Harry raised a brow, expressing his surprise over the fact as to how much Fleur had told Daphne. She smiled. "We actually somewhat bonded," she said. "On the day that our parents came to see Dumbledore after the second challenge, she and I talked a little. Since she was the only champion there I wanted to know from her about what had happened during the second challenge. She owes you a debt of life, you know," Daphne said, "for saving Gabrielle."

"I don't want anyone to owe me anything," Harry said. "It makes me feel weird. I also don't want to owe anyone anything."

"I bet that isn't the case between you and Draco?" Daphne said. Harry's face said it all. "I know you don't want to accept it but because of who you are you can't avoid it either. You feel indebted to him after he saved both of our lives that night from Theo. I know you two are not on good terms so all I can say to you is just be cautious. Draco is not someone who will do something for himself unless it means he has an opportunity to rise up in his father's eyes."

"It feels weird – owing to him," Harry said before taking a pause. "There is one thing I want from you."

"What's that?" Daphne asked.

"Whenever we share a class or are in public…around other students, please ignore me," Harry said "I don't want you getting into anymore trouble because of me. If someone asks about us then just tell them that you had no idea why you ended up becoming my goal."

Daphne nodded. She, too, wanted to attract as less attention as possible after what had happened in the second challenge. "So, what do you and the other champions have in plan for the third challenge?" she asked.

"We are going to do the one thing that the coordinators don't want us to indulge into," Harry said. "Teamwork." Daphne looked at him in confusion. "I won't tell you about it in detail because I want it to be a surprise for you. If everything works accordingly, then we'll have a very satisfying revenge on the coordinators."

Just like Harry had asked, Daphne ignored him completely throughout the day whenever they were around other students or their houses shared a class together. She even told others – who asked her about why she had been chosen as Harry's goal in the second challenge – that, she didn't know why it had happened. Some believed her while some still remained suspicious but it wasn't that Daphne paid any attention to them. Luckily Draco was by her side, making sure some students didn't cross the line by being too intimidating towards her and by some students she meant students of her own house.

As classes for the day came to an end Daphne pulled Draco to the side before she cast a privacy charm around them. Draco looked confused wondering what she was doing. Surprisingly Tracey had seen them but she didn't come over letting Draco know that there was something private that Daphne wanted to talk to him about and his mind could only think of one thing. When she spoke, he realized that his guess was right.

"How did you know?" she asked looking him straight in the eyes with a no nonsense look.

"Know what?" he tried to act innocent.

"Don't do that to me, Draco," Daphne said shaking her head in mild annoyance. "You knew that I was going to be taken into the lake for the second challenge. Tracey told me about it."

"Let me guess, she heard it from Potter?" Draco said uninterestingly.

"You told him to save me," she said. "You knew that I was going to be taken into the lake which makes me wonder, what else do you know? Do you know who put his name in the goblet?"

Draco knew it would come to this but he hadn't thought that it would be Daphne that he had to deal with answering that question to. He couldn't lie to her. He looked at her and realized that if he told her the truth then Harry would know about it too which then meant that everything will be revealed and it could lead to things happening which Draco didn't want to. However, he also couldn't lie to Daphne.

"You want to know?" he said finally after a minute's silence before sighing. "Fine, I'll tell you."
