Chapter 5: Christmas Break
"Who knew that a Plumber fighting aliens to save a princess could be so entertaining?"
With the beginning of Christmas Break, Gilgamesh and Luna are now in a compartment in Hogwarts Express, on its way back to King's Cross. To past the time, Gilgamesh lets Luna borrow his Gameboy, which she has taken a great liking to. He himself is listening to music on his Walkman, with a mixtape that contains songs from the years to come.
Just after the train started moving, the Compartment's Door opened, revealing Hermione and Neville Longbottom. "Mind if we sit here?" she asked.
"Not at all," Gilgamesh assured them. The two Gryffindors take their seats. Luna didn't seem to take notice of the two newcomers. "Where's Harry and Ron?" asked the King.
"Sorry, but I can't say," answered Hermione.
Gilgamesh simply nodded. "Ron's father was attacked while doing something for the Order of the Phoenix. Got it." Gilgamesh smiled to himself. He loves it when people try to hide things from him.
Hermione took notice of Luna's Gameboy, then Gilgamesh's Walkman. "That's—"
"Muggle tech, I know," Gilgamesh cuts her off. "I told you. I know lots off stuff from there."
They were silent for a while, then Hermione asked Gilgamesh, "so, what are you planning to do during the break?"
"Nothing much. I think I might explore London. You?"
"Well, my parents are going Skiing, but I think I'm not going with them. Skiing isn't really my thing, so I'll be staying at…" Hermione paused as she looks at the three people with her, all listening intently (even Luna, though it's hard to tell considering how focused she is with her game). "I'm going to stay with Harry and Ron's family."
"So, to Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, where the Order does their meetings, and where Harry and the Weasleys are staying. Okay then."
After a few hours the train reached its destination. Gilgamesh and Luna said their goodbyes to the two Gryffindors, and they found Xenophilius among the crowd.
"Daddy!" cried Luna as she hugs her father.
"Hello Xeno-San," said Gilgamesh.
"Nice to see you again, Gilgamesh," replied Xenophillius. "How was your First Year at Hogwarts?"
"It was fun!" said the young King. "Deadly traps, dangerous spells and beasts, and other horrors that can break a person's mind! If I knew School could be this exciting, I would have enrolled myself in Homurahara Academy from the other world years ago!"
"The only thing I'm not fond of are some of the professors," Gilgamesh lamented. "Some are good, but there some who I question their credibility to teach. My tutors back in Uruk were way better teachers than them, but then again, I'm not judging based on Education, so I'll give the School a 7/10."
"I'm glad you enjoyed then." Xenophilius looked at the two blond children. "Now, I heard that Florean's are having a special today. I say it would be nice to go there and buy you two a treat, don't you think?"
Two 'yays!' are the answer that he got.
Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place
Mr. Weasley's alive. In critical condition, but alive. That's what Mrs. Weasley told them. When, or if, he's going to wake up is another question entirely.
Sirius was Silent. As for Ron Ginny, and the Twins, they were relieved when they were told that their father is alive, but still scared from the fact that he hasn't woken up.
In his seat, Harry is seething with rage. Mr. Weasley was probably guarding that weapon against Voldemort, and was attacked by Death Eaters when they tried to get it.
"Kill them! Destroy them! Make them suffer!" is what the voice in Harry's head is shouting. It's actually the first time Harry heard the voice in a while, not counting his dream, ever since the Quidditch Match, when the voice voiced its desire to cook Malfoy in a Cauldron.
If there's one thing that Harry knows, it's that both him and the voice are feeling the same anger. Heck, there's nothing stopping them from going out and hunting Voldemort on their own right now. He's probably hiding in the Malfoys. They'll just go and raze it to the ground. Not only would they kill Voldemort, but they'll get rid of the Malfoys as well. If only they knew how to do Fiendfyre…
"Are you all right mate?"
Harry was snapped out from his hate filled trance by a worried Ron.
"Yeah. I'm fine," Harry assured him. After that, no one spoke for a long time, while Harry was left with his murderous thoughts.
"I'm going out Xeno-san!" Gilgamesh calls out as he walks out of the door.
"Okay, but be back by Ten!"
With a lot of free time in his hands, The King of Heroes decided to explore the world around him. He would've brought Luna along, but she seems busy playing with the Game Console that Gilgamesh set up in the house. Now he's worried that introducing her to gaming was a bad idea. Oh well, he can't do much about that, so time to enjoy life!
First, he found an Orphanage, where he donated a large sum of money. The Nuns were hesitant at first, due to the large amount he's giving them, but he insisted, and eventually they took it.
He left the orphanage after playing with the kids, and then he found himself a Candy store, where he bought at least one of every piece of candy that they got.
After that, he went to a toy shop, where he bought himself a Lion Plushy. Might as well have this if he can't get the real one.
Eventually, after dozens of Ice Cream shops and Arcades, Gilgamesh can no longer think of any Age-Appropriate things to do. He could visit Harry, but showing up in a place that is supposed to be hidden would be suspicious, so he instead decides to branch out on his travels and leave the country.
Uruk
It's been a while since Gilgamesh went to the now dead city that is his home. Most of his memories of the place are fond ones that are among his greatest treasures, especially those involving a certain divine construct.
He climbed up the walls of Uruk, inspected its foundation terrace, and examined the brickwork, which is of burnt bricks. Seven wise men lay these foundations.
Of course, there were sad memories too. When he and Enkidu defeated the Bull of Heaven, it angered the Gods, and cursed Enkidu to die of illness. Eventually, Enkidu succumbed to disease, and they died. Gilgamesh ordered that their body is not touched, hoping that Enkidu will wake up again. But after seven days, when worms started coming out their nose, he had to accept the truth. That was when he began his quest for immortality. A quest that while proved to be a failure, changed him from an arrogant manchild to the Sage King of Uruk.
As he tours the City, Gilgamesh can feel the Magical Energy in him strengthen greatly. Enough to summon a Servant, even without a Holy Grail. It seems like Uruk is giving him a Homefield advantage. It's unfortunate that the City has long since been abandoned, as there are no conflicts that could possibly happen here so that he can fight at his strongest. Not that it matters though. He's powerful wherever he is. Not as powerful as his older self, but at least he knows better than saving your Trump Cards for a worthy Opponent. After all, he doubts that he's ever going to meet one again.
Having enough of his old home, Gilgamesh decides that there's one more place that he would like to visit.
Fuyuki
Gilgamesh walks the streets of Fuyuki. The fire never happened in this timeline, but otherwise, it's mostly the same as when he last saw it. Same Houses, same School, same Church…
The Church…
He's not exactly sure what to expect when he went to the church. Maybe Kirei is still living a normal life. Maybe Risei is still alive. Maybe they don't even exist in this world.
Gilgamesh emptied his mind of any expectations and entered the Church, and what he saw is a White-Haired priest with tanned skin holding a mass. He looks a lot like Archer.
Curious about the man, he activated Sha Naqba Imuru, and what he found was very interesting. So, there was a Holy Grail War in this world, and the priest is just like him. And adopted by the Kotomines no less.
He wanted to talk to him. To ask him if the Kirei of this world is alright, but he knew better than to spark confusion on how he knows the priest/executor. So, with a sigh, Gilgamesh exited the Church.
After a little more of walking, Gilgamesh once again finds another familiar house. The Matou Household. He's been in there before, when Kirei 'lent' him to Shinji Matou. Gilgamesh shivered at the sight of the mansion. Even his older self will admit how disgusting the place is.
At first glance, it's a simple manor, but the true horror lies in the basement, where there is a pool of Crest Worms, living magic crests and what remains of the Matou Family's dwindling magic. Zouken himself is nothing more than a body formed from dozens of worms, having lived for a century now. And as long as his soul is intact, even if you destroy his body, he will regain human form by feeding on others.
Wait. What year was it again? 1995, right? So, is it possible that like in his original timeline, his old master Tokiomi still sold his second born daughter to the old man, who unbeknownst to Tokiomi, then proceeded to torture the child by making his worms rape her?
If that's the case, then it's Gilgamesh's duty as King to save the poor girl. Putting on Hades' Cap of Invisibility, Gilgamesh entered the Household. He went inside the basement, where to his disgust, he finds the figure of a 6-year-old girl being violated by the trademark Matou worms, entering her body through different places while Zouken Matou gleefully watches. The sight nearly made him throw up.
He has to kill him.
The Gate of Babylon is a trove of all the worlds treasures, including a particular one that was originally found by a certain Count.
Zouken didn't even have time to react when he was hit by the Monte Cristo Mythologie, burning not only his pathetic excuse for a body, but also his soul, preventing any chance of resurrection.
Now, what to do with Shinji and his father?
He could kill them both, but who will take care of Sakura?
He could only hope that Japan's Apocryphal saint is kind hearted man who would take her in, possibly as a Nun trainee, instead of taking her to an Orphanage where someone potentially worse than Zouken cuould take her.
He walked inside the house, where he finds a sleeping Byakuya and Shinji. Then, without hesitation, he shot the Gate of Babylon right at them.
He returned to the basement and took the girl, never mind the worms, and he draped her with a blanket and walked out of the house, carrying her, heading straight to the church. Fortunately, the mass is over when he got there.
The priest noticed them. "May I help you, boy?" he asked with a smile, only for his smile to drop when he saw the girl. It's clear that he can tell that the girl has been suffering, if her emotionless state is anything to go by.
"I found this girl in the Matou Manor," said Gilgamesh, rather hurriedly. " Everyone else in there is dead. And I think there's something you should see."
(Later, back at the basement)
The expression of the priest's face when he saw the pool of worms is unreadable. Gilgamesh tried, but he can't feel any emotion from him. Not even anger.
"So, this is what Matou has been doing," the priest finally said.
"It's unfortunate that I've only found out about this now. If I knew, I would've rescued the girl years ago."
"What will happen to her?" asked Gilgamesh.
"I will try to contact her Uncle," answered the priest. "Hopefully, he would take her in. If not, then I will adopt her myself."
"Oh yeah. I forgot about Kariya," thought Gilgamesh.
"Are you sure you didn't see anything," questioned the priest. Gilgamesh shakes her head.
"I just thought that something doesn't feel right in this house, so I came to investigate. Then I saw most of the people here dead, and the girl was just there." He pointed at the worms.
The priest eyed him suspiciously for a moment, but it seems that he decided to believe him (thank the gods for A-rank Charisma).
"Can you tell me your name? I would like to know the name of the one who saved the girl, so that I may thank him."
Gilgamesh smiled. "just call me Archer."
The priest looked at him oddly. "That's a peculiar name."
Gilgamesh shrugged. "Oh well. I have to go home."
"Do you want me to walk you home?"
Gilgamesh shakes his head. "I can walk myself. Just take care of the girl."
The priest nodded. "Okay then. I wish you a safe travel, and may God bless you on your way home."
Gilgamesh simply nodded at that, and he began to walk out of the basement, but not before looking back at Sakura, still emotionless, staring at him. Gilgamesh smiled at her. If this is the last time that they'll see each other, then it's better if the last thing that she'll remember of him is his smile.
The day has been tiring for Gilgamesh, he walked around, ate, played, remembered some past traumas, and saved a girl from years of suffering. Having enough of his travels, Gilgamesh went home, where he found that Luna is still playing with her video games, though he noticed that she has switched from the Nintendo Game Console to Sega Genesis instead.
"Hi Onee-Chan," Gilgamesh greeted.
"Hello Gil," she replied. Then she hands him the other controller. "Want to play with me?"
Gilgamesh smiled, taking the controller. "I would love to," and the two spent the rest of the day playing the Sega game, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Christmas
"Merry Christmas, Xeno-San!" said Gilgamesh as he handed Xenophilius a Folder labeled 'ORT'.
"This looks interesting. What is it?" he asked.
"It's all the information I got on a creature named Type Mercury," answered Gilgamesh. "I think someone like that would make a good article for your paper."
Xenophillius read through what's written on the folder. "Yes, this is perfect! This shall be on the front page of next month's Quibbler!"
Gilgamesh smiled. He's always glad to give to someone in need. After giving his gift, he went back to his room to open his own presents, but not before finding Winky, who has since been living in the Lovegood Household, dusting the walls.
"I've got something for you Winky. Merry Christmas!" Gilgamesh gave Winky a necklace made out of a Butterbeer cork, not unlike the ones that Luna has.
"Winky don't deserve gift," said Winky. "Winky just an elf."
"No, take it," Gilgamesh insisted. "You've been working so hard. You deserve something nice."
"T-Thank you master," said Winky with tears on her eyes, finally taking the necklace "Master is so kind!"
"Well, a King needs to be kind to his subjects, right?" said Gilgamesh with his trademark smile. And with that, Gilgamesh left the Elf and finally reached his room.
His room is decorated to befit a King, with treasures from the past, present, and future. Instead of a Bed, there is a Throne. In front of the Throne is a Television along with a Game Console. The Shelves are home to Various sweets, wine, ancient and modern technology, and the Lion Plushy that he bought. The walls are decorated with tapestry from his home city, and posters of a certain King of Knights (don't even ask where he got those).
He's gotten lots of presents from the people that he became acquainted with, and he opened them all one by one.
Finally, he opened Luna's present. It's a portrait of him, smiling like the innocent child that he's supposed to be, with Uruk in the Background.
That's when he remembered that he hasn't gave Luna her gift yet. So, he went to Luna's room, where he found her playing Megaman on the Console that he installed on her room.
"Onee-Chan, I've got something for you."
Luna paused the game and looked at Gilgamesh, who opened the Gate of Babylon and grabbed the bracelet that he made and handed it to her.
Luna examined the bracelet and Gilgamesh started to panic. Does she not like it? Of course, she doesn't. He knew it! He should have made it using gold. Or maybe used her name instead of his. Wait a minute. Why is he, the King of Heroes, panicking over this?!
"I love it," said Luna, unaware of her adopted brother's inner turmoil.
"Come again?"
"I love it," she repeated. "I can tell that you made it yourself, so it's not just some random treasure from your vault. It shows that you care, so I appreciate it. Thank you."
'That's nice,' thought Gilgamesh. Wait, why is he blushing?
Gilgamesh smiled. "Merry Christmas, Onee-Chan."
Luna smiled back. "Merry Christmas, Gil."
St. Mungo's
There was an aura of sadness this Christmas. Still, it doesn't stop them for trying to enjoy the holiday. After Gift giving back in Grimmauld Place, they went to St. Mungo's to visit Mr. Weasley. He still hasn't woken up, but he's no longer in critical condition.
While Harry and everyone else are in Mr. Weasley's room, he checked his pocket to see if the Locket that he found earlier was still there. Since Kreacher seems to be missing, his cupboard was unoccupied and filled with useless junk. Harry however, suddenly felt drawn to it, and he found the Locket. It looked familiar, but Harry can't remember when he has seen it before. Still, he decided to keep it, much to Hermione's protest. "Let's just consider it his Christmas Present to me," was what he told her. She's still kinda pissed off with that.
He looked around the room, looking at the patients there. He doesn't know why, but he feels great satisfaction at their pain. The hundreds of people in this Hospital suffering. It's a beautiful thought. He has to hold his urge to laugh. Is this a bad thing?
Fuyuki Church
"Kirei! There's something for you!" Kotomine Shirou called out to his adopted brother, who is visiting for the holidays. He descended from the stairs, where he saw Shirou holding a package.
"Someone sent this to you."
Kirei cocked an eyebrow. "Do you know who sent it?"
Shirou shakes his head as he hands the box to Kirei. "I just found it in front of the Church door. I was hoping you know who sent it."
Kirei opened the package, where there is a dish inside. "What is this?" questioned Kirei,
"I believe that's Mapo Tofu," the former Ruler Class Servant answered.
"I never tried this before," mused Kirei.
"I had, and it wasn't a pleasant experience." While Shirou had learned to love everyone and everything in this sinful Earth, the dish known as Mapo Tofu was just too much for him to handle.
"I see," said Kirei. Nonetheless, he gave the dish a try, and to Shirou's surprise, he looks like he's enjoying it!
Shirou simply smiled at his brother, but on the inside, he is screaming in confusion as to how someone can eat, let alone enjoy Mapo Tofu. He knew Kirei was odd, but this is just a whole different level. Is he even human?
Kirei continued eating the Mapo Tofu, unaware of his older brother's inner turmoil.
A/N: Happy Holidays everybody (I know its days away. I can't wait that long)! I hope you're having a great time, and sorry this took a while, but I figure it's better to post a Christmas themed chapter on December, so here it is
There are a few things I'd like to discuss. Some of you must be wondering about the presence of Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, so Ima do some worldbuilding. In this version of the Harry Potter World, a Holy Grail War did happen. Just one though, happening roughly the same time as the 3rd one back in the Fate-verse, and theoretically, as the Fantastic Beasts Film series reached its conclusion. His origin is similar to his canon self, being summoned in place of the Berserker Class. The War ended with the Grail destroyed and Shirou getting incarnated and the last Servant standing. The Grail system has since then been dismantled, and Shirou was adopted by Risei
If you're still wondering about details of the Holy Grail War, then I'll let you in a little Showa Secret: The Caster Class Servant is Francois Prelati. Three guesses as to who the Master is
I made a slight retcon in the previous chapters. I realize now that Gilgamesh's false name is kinda stupid. I mean, what kind of person is named Archer (no offense to people who are named Archer)? So, his false name would be changed (check chapter 2), and every instance of the fic referring to him as Archer is an in-universe nickname
In speaking of changing previous chapters, as a reviewer points out, the circumstances in which Gilgamesh purified the Diadem Horcrux makes no sense, so I'm removing it, mainly because by the time I wrote that, I have no idea what I'm doing, and currently, the horcruxes don't have any large role in the fic's main draft. That being said, and minor spoiler, Gilgamesh will still get the Diadem the same exact way later on (through the Gate of Babylon, that is), or not. I'm still not entirely sure how the story will go (I mean I know how it'll end. I'm just not entirely sure how I'll get there)
I made a new fic! Fate/Equitem Magum: The Mage of Hope. Make sure to read it if you want to
And one final thing. Turning Luna into a Gamer is kind of a reference to the Fanfic Tainted Ideals, where the same thing happened to Gilgamesh. I dunno, I just thought it would be funny
That's all, I guess. Merry Christmas!
