WARNING: DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS - THIS IS A PLOT OUTLINE FOR THOSE WHO WANT CLOSURE (i.e. you are holding out on the hope that I actually finish this story which is unlikely... sorry...)
Thank you to everyone who has been patient, reading, following, favouriting, and leaving reviews! I'm so sorry for the delay but I'm not sure if I'm gonna finish this story... I have had other ideas for stories (unpublished) and kinda moved on, not to mention school... I now understand why so many writers don't finish their stories lol
That being said, I also understand how frustrating it is to read an unfinished story! So for those who want closure, here's the general outline for how I had planned my story! I don't have every single detail since I like to keep things flexible but here ya go anyway:
I was thinking that the group would capture Chrollo and Kurapika would use his Judgement Chain on Chrollo to stop him from using his nen (like in canon), which also gives Izuku his hatsu ability back. Chrollo would also explain what happened on the day he stole Izuku's nen and why he did it: he had recently formed the Phantom Troupe with other residents of Meteor city, but during one of their heists, a member became gravely injured, so the other members had all gone to look for a method to heal them. Chrollo had heard of rumours about a doctor in Musutafu who could heal anything, so he came to investigate, but when he asked the locals for information they were all very vague (most of them didn't know how nen worked so they wouldn't be able to give details, and they had been asked by Inko to not spread this information beyond the local community). Chrollo still wanted to find this 'doctor' so he kept searching around the place. Then he came across Izuku healing Katsuki after he sustained an injury from playing in the forest, realising that he was using hatsu - he figured this was the rumoured 'doctor' and stole his hatsu ability.
I'm imagining Chrollo would said something like "I needed that ability to save them..."
And Katsuki would retort "Then you could've asked Izuku to heal them instead of stealing it you bastard!"
Chrollo doesn't show remorse to his actions but he still accepts their perspective.
After this Gon and Killua play Greed Island, asking if Izuku and Katsuki wanna join them but they decline - they both want to train their nen, and Izuku wants to make sure Kurapika is ok. Not too sure about this arc but I'm thinking they would help Kurapika to recover his clan's eyes (also preventing him from doing more immoral actions to recover them and helping him feel less empty) and probably train more nen techniques with another hunter (possibly another My Hero Academia character). Izuku would also be studying the Hunter system more - especially how to change it, since now that he is a hunter (and isn't focusing on recovering his nen) he has access to much more information.
They would join the Chimera Ant arc later than Gon and Killua, as they were helping Kurapika and didn't realise the Ants were such a huge threat until later on. Again, not too sure about the details here but it would probably mostly follow canon.
Finally, in the election arc, things would follow canon in terms of Leorio punching Ging and becoming one of the main candidates. Izuku would see this as an opportunity for change and he knows that although Leorio is materialistic (due to good reason), he is kind-hearted and would work with him for this change. Izuku helps Leorio to become an even better candidate and talk about actual change in hunter society, Pariston decides to step down because he's curious about what they would actually do if Leorio became chairman. Izuku and Leorio are trying to make changes to Hunter society to become more moral - i.e. not letting people die during the hunter exams, revoking licenses from villainous hunters and trying to figure out how to deal with them, figuring out what to do with Meteor City and the Mafia).
Izuku realises that creating an ideal society like the one he constructed in his head is impossible, so he needs to compromise, and he also realises it's not as simple as just becoming chairman and it will take a long time. Eventually they realise there's too much pressure (Leorio is like "I'm not cut out for this" and Izuku tries to persuade him to keep trying but Leorio resigns). One plot point that leads to Leorio's resignation is an assassin. Some hunters are dissatisfied with the change, especially the mafia, so they send an assassin after Izuku and Leorio. The position is subsequently handed over to Cheadle but Cheadle takes them up on their desire for change, thinking they could both be a good chairman, they're just too young, and Izuku works sort of like an intern and helps to change Hunter Society from the inside (but this time with a more competent leader).
And I'm not good at political stuff so that's where it would finish lol.
Thank you for still being here! Writing this plot outline doesn't necessarily mean I won't finish it, so I may still come back to update/finish it, but I won't make any promises that I may end up breaking haha... ^^;;
Replies to reviews:
SinisterStalker420: Sorry for the wait! You're probably disappointed this isn't a real update haha... but at least it's closure? Thank you for reading and being patient!
ShadowPillow: Ahh thank you so much! Also thanks for the tip ehe I'll do that for any future stories and if I come back to this one to update/finish it as well! :)
bastthecatgodess: jhsgdfhsjdhfs honestly I feel you; Togashi wrote all his characters so well that sometimes I feel like I'm rooting for the antagonist more than Gon. I hope this ending was still satisfying to you! Thank you for reading!
D3lph0xL0v3r: THANK YOU! You are amazing, thank you so much for your support! Since we already discussed stuff in PM, I don't have much to say apart from thank you again!
