Well here is probably a long awaited chapter 5, sorry it took so long but I had this big headache of enrolling in college and trying to play catch up with Math. -shivers-
Also if towards the end the Words get smaller it's because after I did Italics for the Holidays my computer started derping on me.
Well any way on with the show!-presses a big red button-
It was six months later and the diplomatic mission that Naruto, Sylvanas, and Selada had been, while not a rousing success, had bore some fruit in that the Outsiders Enclave, as the strange races who had settled in the dead center of the contient had called themselves, was willing to open up trade routes with the Hidden Leaf Village. There was also a massive celebration in the village as the first of group of blood elves, orcs, and trolls received citizenship with Selada having the highest score since the villages founding, despite a few of the more old-fashioned thinkers who tried to sabotage the exam. Currently he and one of his new orc friends were currently walking in the market just hanging out, while Sylvanas stayed at home.
'She needs some friends,' Naruto thought, sure it was nice having her stay with him but ever since the diplomatic mission if he brought her out of the apartment she would immediately pull her hood up and pull up her face mask. It was like she purposelly trying to hide from people, why he didn't know. He was so lost in thought that he accidentally bumped into someone, when he was about to tell them to watch where they were going he noticed it was ex-girlfriend Hinata.
"Oh, hi Hinata," Naruto greeted, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"Hello Naruto," Hinata said, smiling warmly. You see after the Fourth Great Shinobi War Naruto and Hinata had tried dating and for a while it had worked, but it was like one day they had just woken up and they no longer felt that love that got them into the relationship, needless to say they remained good friends.
"Who's your friend," Hinata asked, looking at Naruto's orc friend with a warm smile.
"Oh he's Bargrom Firewolf," Naruto introduced with a grin. Bargrom Firewolf stood about 6'6", a reasonable height for a orc male, had dark green skin, dark brown eyes, his hair fell down to his shoulders with two braids framing his face, like most of his race he had massive muscles, probably for swinging around those battle axes or war hammers, though they did allow for some devestating results from a kanabo, he was aslo wearing a leather jerking with a bright red undershirt, leather pants, leather gloves, and leather boots and had confessed to Naruto he was once a hunter but he had to find another profession as hunting was more of a past time in Konoha then anything else. Looking over at his friend he noticed that Bargrom remained tight lipped, well as tight lipped as possible with those tusks of his, why orcs had tusks sticking out of their bottom lips he didn't know.
"So how's Hanabi doing," Naruto asked, figuring on asking his friend about it later if he didn't deduce it in the process.
"Oh she's doing great," Hinata answered with a smile, out of the corner of his eye Naruto saw his friend's face become a darker shade of green, "she's sneaking out of the house thinking I don't know about her and her new boyfriend."
"She's found someone already," Naruto asked, feigning surprise.
"Oh yes he's a blood elf working as a tailor," Hinata answered with a smile, "why she's hiding him I don't know."
"You haven't met your dad when he's in papa bear mode," Naruto said, shivering in response to the first time he asked Hiashi if he could date Hinata, the psychological torture he went through were still the subject of his and Ino's therapy sessions.
"He's not that bad," Hinata stated, defending her father.
"I'm still going to therapy because of him," Naruto stated with a deadpan expression. Smiling Hinata shook her head and looked at Naruto's companion and noticed that his face was a darker shade of green and he seemed to be standing perfectly still.
'Must be shy,' Hinata thought.
"Well it's been nice talking to you Hinata but I got to help Bargrom with a job hunt," Naruto stated, before giving Hinata a hug.
"Was nice seeing you again Naruto," Hinata replied, giving Naruto a hug back, after breaking the hug Hinata looked at Naruto's friend Bargrom with a gentle smile, "I hope your job hunt goes well Bragrom, and I hope we get to meet again sometime."
Bargrom nodded stiffly annd with that Hinata walked away, smiling to herself.
With Sylvanas...
Sylvanas looked in the mirror of her's and Naruto's apartment, sighing to herself. Naruto probably wouldn't understand why she was doing this, or why she would completely cover herself every time they walked out the door. She did this because she was afraid, afraid that there might be a few people in the crowd that would want her dead, afraid of someone revealing all she had done as the Banshee Queen and Leader of the Forsaken, the plague she created in the name of stopping the Scrouge, the countless other atrocities she committed, or about her having wanted to kill her sister Veressa and then resurrect her as one of the Forsaken. Thinking all that Sylvanas thought that she had the extermination of her Forsaken coming, all the bad Karma, as Naruto referred to it, built up and proceeded to hit her in the face like Deathwing's mace. Normally Sylvanas would not be bothered with such thoughts, after all she had done what she thought was best for her people and the safety of the Horde. So why now of all times did she look back on a few of her past decisions and felt something she hadn't had the luxury of feeling since she became one of the Ranger-Generals of Quel'Thalas, regret. She was beginning to regret some of her actions.
But why now? Why after all the things she had done did she just now start feeling regret?
'It's because of him,' whispered a voice in her head, the him needed no explanation. Ever since she reunited with Naruto she felt something stirring in the depths of her undead heart. Feelings that should have long since died. At this point Sylvanas went to the room that Naruto had so graciously allowed her to use, not that she had wanted to tell him that she didn't need to sleep, sat on the bed with her back against the headboard, and pulled her knees up to her chin and began contemplating her decisions once again.
With Thrall...
Thrall rubbed his temples for Spirits knew how many times in just this day alone, every since he announced a end to all hostilities with the Alliance he had heard no end to the complaints. Sighing to himself Thrall began trying to work out the last of the plans needed to ensure the success of the expedition to the Morrowlands. An hour into it and his son decided to walk into his study. You see unlike his father who had followed the path of a Shaman and communed with the Spirits of Nature, his son Durak had become a warrior, with his preferred weapon being the warhammer,
"Father," Durak greeted, dressed simply in chain mail and with his black hair done in a braid that went down to his shoulders.
"Durak," Thrall greeted in reply, groaning as he felt every day of his age, "what can I help you with son?"
You see after his mate Aggra died the relationship between Thrall and his son had grown strained. Thrall did everything in his power to try and smooth the rift between them, to seemingly no avail.
"This expedition you're planning," Durak stated, eyeing the plans on the plans sitting on his father's desk.
"What of it," Thrall asked, curious as to what his son had to say about it.
"Why," Durak asked, "why risk everything you worked for, the Horde, Orgimmar, all of it for one undead elf?"
Thrall saw this question coming like one of the sandstorms that plagued certain regions of Durotar. Still to hear it coming from his son was a entirely different thing altogether.
"You don't know much about Sylvanas do you," Thrall asked in return.
"Just that she was the leader of the abominations known as the Forsaken before Garrosh wiped them out," Durak stated, tilting his head in a sort of unspoken challenge towards his father.
"Then you truly know nothing about her," Thrall stated, "Before she became the Banshee Queen she was the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, until the true abominations known as th Scourge attacked. At it's head was the soon to be Lich King Arthas Menethil. She fought him every turn, trying to stop him from claiming the High Elves precious Sunwell, and despite all her efforts she still failed, mostly because while the Elves needed sleep Arthas's undead knew not the pains of hunger or the mind numbing effects of going without sleep. Guess what her reward for all that was."
Durak's eyes widened, catching a little bit of why his father might be doing this.
"She wanted to die, Arthas denied her even that small reward for her efforts," Thrall stated, "he took her, tortured her, and just when it seemed like death was withing reach he ripped her soul from her body, and bound her to his service. It wasn't till many years later that she and several other undead were freed from his influence. Everything she did afterwards she did for the sake of her people, to keep them safe, to make a home for them. Now son do you understand, i'm doing this because she went through just as much, and in some cases more, than the Orcs."
Durak looked at his father and wondered whether his father's wisdom and compassion were things derived from his experinces, after all what Orc and human hadn't heard of the mighty Thrall who started off as a slave and escaped, found his people, became the first Orc Shaman in many years, rallied the downtrodden Orcs into a fighting force, and with the help of the dead human mage Jaina Proudmoore, founded the city of Orgimmar and the Orc nation of Durotar, named in honor of his father. Of course the human's had a different telling of the story but that was beside the point.
"Then take me with you," Durak asked/demanded. Thrall took that moment to turn and look at his son.
"Why," Thrall asked, doing his best to hide the surprise in his voice.
"Because this is important to you," Durak answered before smirking mischieveously, "besides you're going to need a pair of strong arms to help you old man."
Thrall smiled, got up, and hugged his son for the first time in five years.
"Yes perhaps a very long voyage is precisely what we need," Thrall stated, making ready to finalize the plans.
With Tsunade back in Konoha...
Tsunade was rubbing her forehead listening to the Civilian Council scream and shout about how they needed to remove the non-humans from Konha, some of the more popular arguments were that due to the fact the Orcs could make cheap weapons that were still of higher quality to the stuff the humans were making, the blood elves with just a few bolts of fabric and some dye could make clothes fit for a Kage, and they claimed that the trolls were steering their children towards heathen religions, in reality the different non-human factions in Konoha had come forward and explained their cultures, religions, holidays, and different rites of adulthood to her. The trolls she found to be the most interesting with their belief in set of gods called Loa, and they explained to her that they once practiced cannabalism but the trolls that were living within the Elemental Nations had given up the practice long ago, the Orcs beliefs in Shamanism were also kind of amusing as they believe in spirits of Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Nature, and shared with her the belief that the shinobi were actually calling on these spirits to cast their jutsu. The blood elves had been a little tricky as they even mentioned that they had what they refered to as a "magic addiction", they had explained it as their race had once had a "arcance" artifact that they refered to as the Sunwell from which they drew their magic. Interestingly enough the blood elves admitted that since coming to the Elemental Nations they didn't feel the thirst for magic like they used to, it was still there but they could ignore it more easily.
"Lady Hokage are you listening to us," one of the Civilian Council shouted, a man with a greasy beard and a belly that hung over his belt.
"I'm sorry I stopped listening to your whining about five minutes ago," Tsunade answered, looking at the civilian council with a bored expression, "now is Konoha's new non-human population causing any real trouble or are you just complaining because your pockets aren't as heavy as you want them to be?"
Judging by the sputtering from the Civilian Council she already knew the answer.
"In that case," Tsunade announced, "this meeting is adjourned."
Smiling, after all what was the point if you couldn't piss off the Civilian Council once in a while, Tsunade began walking back to her office. Once she got just outside the door she turned and saw that the leaders of the different non-human factions were outside her door waiting, the troll and blood elf leaders were sitting but the Orc leader was forced to stand as they had yet to move any chair adequate for someone of his size to the waiting area.
"Why are all you waiting out here," Tsunade asked, dumb question she knew but it still needed to be asked.
"We were waiting for you," answered the orc, whose name she remembered was Gorrum Gruffbeast, he was perhaps the tallest of the orcs living within Konoha's walls, standing at 8'5", weighing in at almost 600 lbs of pure muscle, he had a beard that took up his chin and cheeks, though it seemed to stay away from his upper lip area, dressed in a dark brown long sleeved shirt, with black pants, and black boots with a diamond shaped plate of metal covering his knees. His head was bald, which she found kind of weird but who was she to judge, the boy who was like a son to her had a beast of pure chakra sealed inside him and had stopped what would have been the death of all the shinobi by some ancient Rabbit Goddess, his right eye was blind with a scar running over it, how he got that scar was probably why he was blinded, his left eye was so dark a brown it was almost black, and his tusks went almost halfway up his nose.
"Well step into my office and we can go over what you have to discuss," Tsunade invited, walking inside her office she went and sat at her desk, her guest having filed in after her had sat down in three chairs across from her. Normally she would make them stand but she was having a good day.
"So what is it you want to talk about," Tsunade asked, "are the lodgings you were provided with suitable?"
"Yes Lady Hokage da lodgings is suitable," the troll, Jamga if she remembered correctly, answered. Jamga had all the tell tale signs of his people,at least this variation of his people called Jungle Trolls, tall, standing at around at around 6'11', lanky, blue skinned with a firey red mohawk, almost black eyes, and he was wearing loose fitting, light green robes decorated with all manner of talismans and charms, and his staff had the skull of, what she assumed was, a giant cat with two long canines at the corner of it's mouth. The lodgings in question being the various clan compounds that were not in use, the Namikaze, Uchiha, and Senju compounds being amonst the most prominent. With the majority of the Orcs taking residence in the Uchiha compound, Naruto loaning the Namikaze Compound to the Blood Elves indefinitely, and Tsunade allowing the Trolls use of the Senju compound, she didn't plan on living there any time soon.
"And has the human population attacked any of you," Tsunade asked, wanting to keep them the various non-humans here as they were proving to be a boon to Konoha's economy, but not for the Civilian Council's pocket books, and had thus far proven to be the most dedicated part of the population, if her assistant and negotiater with the various trade caravans, Selada, was anything to go on.
"No Lady Hokage," the blood elf, Sylrin Emberfeather if she remembered correctly, answered, Sylrin Emberfeather stood at 5'7", with tanned skin and emerald green eyes, her hair was a kind of charcoal black and in a ponytail reminescent of a samurai, the robes she wore crimson red with gold lines encircling her arms with a line running threw them down to the cuffs, running along her shoulder to encircle her neck, and down her sides of her robes, underneath the robes she wore a forest green shirts, bright red pants, leather shoes with a gold line embroided on the shin that went up and created a kind of diamond shape.
"That what is it you wish to discuss," Tsunade asked, eyeing each of them.
"Well where were from we have certain," Gorrum answered, "holidays, or festivals if you prefer, that we celebrate."
"Before we began celebrating them inside your walls we wanted to run it past you," Sylrin explained.
"Oh really," Tsunade asked, quirking an eyebrow, now Konoha itself was no stranger to celebrations, after all there were certain holidays through out the Elemental Nations that were recognized and generally agreed upon that all conflict would stop for the duration of those days, "and those are?"
"We have da list of dem right here," Jamga answered, before pulling a rolled up parchment from a satchel on his side and holding it out to her. Taking the list from Jamga, Tsunade unrolled the parchment and read over it real quickly, it was just a short list after all. That looked like this:
New Years, celebrated January 1st
Love is in the air, celebrated Febuary 7th through the 20th
Noblegarden, celebrated on April 20th
Misdsummer Fire Festival, celbreatied June 21st through July 5th
Harvest Festival, celebrated September 27th through October 4th
Hallow's End, celebrated October 18th through October 31st
Pilgrim's Bounty, celebrated November 20th through the 26th
Feast of Winter Veil, celebrated December 15th through January 2nd.
The representitives sat there in their chairs patiently, although they were sweating on the inside, hoping they would at least be able to at least keep some of their cultural identities. After what seemed like a eternity, Tsunade slide the list back across to them. Solemnly taking the note the representitives were about to leave and thank her for her time, when a small smile split her features.
"I believe we can make some concessions," Tsunade stated with a smile, "but I will need to bring this up at the next Council Meeting before I can promise anything."
"Yes Lady Hokage," they all replied gratefully, standing and bowing, as hand shakes were not culturally accepted here, at least that's what they believed, " thank you for your time."
With that the representatives left and began preparing arguments as to how these different festivals could be used to better their adopted country.
