Summer so close! I can't wait!
Guest: Thanks. I try my best. Is there a particular family you like better? I'm sure everyone has their favorites.
Dimmension Traveler: Good to hear from you! I hope you are well. Thanks for the review.
PokeKing Charizard: I'm still working out what kind of father Caesar would be… This story came to me while I was at my daughter's friend's birthday party. A bunch of kids were jumping into a ball pit. One of the smaller kids disappeared under all that foam balls.
One of the worse jobs as a teacher is proctoring exams. It is sooo boring yet you must keep an eye out for suspicious activities… (cough cough, cheaters). I have mastered the art of looking attentive yet having my mind wander… hence, this story was born.
I do not own.
Kenji looked at the clock on the wall. Time was running out. He looked at the test in front of him. He still had 2 essays left. While staring at them the words started to blur. He needed to concentrate. This was an important placement exam in writing. If he did well, he would not need to take the extra class. That would save his parents money and him time. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply. He then shifted in his seat and resumed the exam.
Suddenly, he heard screaming from the outside.
"Continue your exam." The proctor snapped a several students turned to look out the window.
Kenji kept working on the exam. But his blood ran cold when he suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"Rex! It went that way."
"I see it."
"Watch out for its spikes."
"I know, I know I'm not a kid... Auugghh!"
"I told you to watch out!"
Kenji tried to ignore the voices. He turned the page to the next question. He began writing.
"It's getting away."
"Oh no you don't. Oophh."
The building shuddered slightly as something big hit.
"Rex! Keep that thing away from the buildings. Students are in there."
"What... Do... You... Think... I'm... Trying... To... Do?" Rex responded.
"Kenji could be in one of them."
Kenji winced when he heard his name. He glanced around to see if anyone was looking at him. But then he relaxed when he realized that no one knew his name… except it was written on the cover of the exam and on top of every page on the answer booklet. He placed his arm over the front of his desk and scribbled furiously.
"I know! Now if you'll stop yelling at me maybe I can… Ow!" There was a loud crash and then a car alarm went off.
"Ooops, sorry to whoever owns the red camaro." Kenji heard Uncle Rex yell.
"What?" The proctor ran to the window. Kenji wanted to slink into the floor. He wrote even faster.
More sounds of destruction came from outside. The proctor's face was an unhealthy shade of red. One more essay to go. Kenji turned to a clean page. He began writing.
"Rex, move it into the cage… unless you like being tossed like a salad."
"Shut up!"
Kenji tried to ignore the crashing of garbage cans and the tinkling of broken glass as he wrote his last paragraph.
"Rex! It's escaping!"
"I'm on it."
"It looks more like it's on you."
Kenji wrote his last period. He raised his hand. "Sir, I'm done. May I leave?"
The proctor walked over to him. Kenji prayed he would not look closely at the cover.
"Fine." The proctor skimmed through the pages before tossing the paper on the desk. "But I don't think they're going to let you go outside with that commotion going on."
"Oh, I think they will." Kenji muttered under his breath. He quickly left the room. Running through the corridor and down several flight of stairs, he ran into the front lobby of the building. A group of students were gathered by the large windows to see the fight. Sure enough, there was his father and Uncle Rex fighting a rather nasty looking bulbous EVO with long spindly legs.
"Excuse me, excuse me." Kenji pushed through the crowd towards the door. He was about to push out the entrance when a guard stopped him.
"Sorry, son. It's too dangerous out there." The security guard said.
Kenji didn't argue. He pushed his way to the back again. He went into the men's bathroom. Luckily, it had exactly what he needed… an open window. He squeezed himself out. Landing effortlessly on his feet he ran to the front of the building. Watching his father slash at the EVO, he looked around for something to help. Spotting some old discarded cables he picked them up. He heard a groan from an overturned dumpster next to him.
"Uncle Rex!" Kenji knelt next to the garbage covered man.
"Aww, I'll never get this stain out." Rex said looking at his shirt.
Kenji pushed the cable into his hands.
"Uncle Rex can you get this around the EVO's legs?" He asked.
Rex looked at the cable in his hands. His face lit up when he realized what Kenji was saying.
"You're so smart, just like your mom." He ruffled Kenji's hair before forming his Boogie Pack and flying off.
Kenji brushed off the garbage residue his uncle left in his hair.
Rex made a slip knot on one end of the cable. He managed to snag one of the spindly legs. Then flying around the bottom, the cable tightened so that the legs were pulled together, throwing the creature's balance off. The creature teetered a little before falling over. Rex put his hand on it and blue lines circumvented the EVO. In a few seconds, a semi-naked college student lay on the ground hog-tied.
Six walked over to his son.
"How was the test?" He asked as he slipped his blades back up his sleeve.
"Okay." He shrugged.
"Study hard. I don't want you partying at all hours of the night." He said sternly.
"Yes, sir." Kenji answered dutifully.
"Your mother wants you to call her once you're settled in your dorm." Six added as he walked away. "Oh, and Kenji? Good thinking."
Kenji smiled a little. He saw his uncle jog up to him.
"Hey, Ken. Don't forget to party." Rex winked at him before giving a double thumbs up. He then jogged back to the unconscious ex-EVO.
All the students flooded the area now that the threat was over.
"Do you know who those two were?" One of the students asked Kenji.
"Never seen them before in my life." Kenji answered before walking back to his dorm room.
So I took some liberties with college life to move this story along. Hope you enjoyed it anyway.
