So this was inspired by my vacation with my family this summer. So even when I was in "The Happiest Place on Earth", I was thinking of stories to write for you all.
I do not own.
Six was not sure why he was there. He was sure there had to be some despot's army he should be taking down somewhere. Instead he was standing knee deep in people to catch a glimpsed of some parade going down the streets of the god-forsaken amusement park.
"Daddy! Lift me up. I can't see." Jade whimpered.
Six looked down at his 4 year old daughter. She was doing that pouty lip thing that reminded him of her mother. He could never say no to her either. So up Jade went on top of Six's shoulders. Jade squealed in delight as a trail of popular cartoon characters filed past, waving and prancing about.
"Daddy? Can I see too?" Jasmine tugged on the edge of her father's suit. Looking down at her, he could see her pleading eyes, also much like her mother.
So Six put Jade on one shoulder. Then bending down he scooped up his other daughter and placed her on the other. Now he had two squealing girls… in stereo. A meticulously dressed man in a green suit with shades holding two little giggling girls on either side of his head, must have made for an interesting sight. He sighed inwardly because he would never show the world what he really thought. Jade and Jasmine had linked their arms over their father's head. With their other little arms, they pointed excitedly as the princesses, princes, and other assortment of medieval characters passed by.
One of the twin's elbows dug into his skull as she adjusted herself on his shoulder. He didn't flinch… because he was Six. A second later the pressure abated.
Six wondered what the others would think if they say him now… probably laugh or make fun of him. He could hear their mocking voices even as the blaring music from the passing float threatened to deafen him.
"Daddy, daddy, look it's Elsa!" Jade leaned into her father to get his attention.
"I see." He responded.
"Hi Elsa!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. Six was fairly certain the heavily costumed character could not hear her. But he could. And if the blaring music didn't deafen him, her screaming would.
Jasmine, who was usually reserved, was equally loud. "Hi Olaf!" She screamed and leaned over. Six had to firmly push her back into place lest she took a dive into the crowd in front of them. She was a little too young to be crowd surfing or moshing. If he had his way, they would not be allowed out of his sight until they were 30. God help the boys that came calling. He already had his special sword sharpening kit by the door. The thought of asking his daughters' potential suitors questions as he slowly slid his katana back and forth across the sharpening stone almost made him smile. But he didn't. Because he was Six. And Holiday probably wouldn't let him. Speaking of his wife, he glanced to his side where Holiday was carrying their 7 year old son so he could see above the crowd's heads. He was a little too big for that but Holiday still often indulged the boy. Six was going to make sure he grew up to be a man, like One was.
As the parade wound down, Six set the girls on their feet. Holiday put Kenji down. The kids chattered excitedly about their favorite part of the parade and darted down the street to get to the next ride. Holiday slipped her hand into his.
"What are you thinking?" She asked as they tried to catch up to their children.
"I'm going to need a bigger sword." He said flatly.
His wife looked at him oddly before turning her attention to avoiding bumping into the throngs of people. "I'm not even going to ask." She muttered.
Six did smirk that time. He just gave her hand a squeeze as they entered another long line with their children.
All in all he had it pretty good.
