Happy May the 4. As in may the 4th(force) be with you…
I do not own.
Circe's shocked face slowly dissolved into a frown. "Really? Are you sure?"
"Yes." Rex nodded.
"Why him? Why not Six or Noah?" She asked him.
"Six and Doc are already Violeta's godparents. Noah was my best man at the wedding. Gotta spread the love." Rex explained. "I think this would be good for him."
"Who? Rafael?" Circe questioned.
"No, White Knight." Rex said.
"And we should care about that cranky s.o.b, because?" Circe raised an eyebrow.
"Come on, Circe. Knight's just the way he is because… you know… reasons. But deep down inside, he cares about people." Rex tried to explain.
"Well, could have fooled me." She snorted. "I mean it's bad enough Raffy's middle name is Knight."
"Hey, don't deny it Knight is an awesomely cool name." Rex interrupted.
Circe sighed. "Yeah, for a video game character."
"Or an action star!" Rex added.
"Rex, focus. Are you sure White Knight would even agree to it?" She asked.
"Of course, he would." Rex said adamantly.

"Of course not!" White Knight barked. "Are you crazy? What do I know about kids?"
"Come on, White. You just stand there, hold a candle and when the priest asks, who is the godparent, all you have to say is 'I am'… and maybe promise to do a bunch of stuff." Rex said the end softly and quickly.
"No, out of the question." White Knight huffed. He eyed the boy. "I don't know what your crazy scheme is but it's not going to work. Now get back to work."
The screen cut out.
Rex glared a moment before turning away. Walking to his brother's lab, he knocked before entering having learned the hard way to always do so.
"Hey bro, can I borrow your computer for a sec?" He asked.
Caesar was busy looking at some schematics. "Hmm? Sure." He said without looking up.
Rex typed something before hitting a key.
"Thanks bro. Don't forget, Rafael's christening with Abuela and everyone is next Saturday down in Mexico." Rex told him.
"Right, I need those text codes." Caesar answered absentmindedly.
Rex shook his head. " Nevermind, I'll tell Beverly." He left the room.
A second later Caesar's head shot up. "Tell Beverly, what?"

"Ridiculous." White Knight muttered to himself. "That's the stupidest thing the kid's ever asked. Godparent? Bah."
An email alert flashed across his screen. Without thinking, he automatically clicked on it.
Hey White,
Before you delete this, read:
"Compadrazgo (godparentage) usually involves a solemn commitment to the family as friend, confidant and advisor – and a commitment to become a true 'other parent' to the newly christened child. After the christening, the parents and godparents will address each other as compadre or comadre – a term that implies a close and sacred relationship. * "
I know we've had our differences, but I'd like to think you're a part of the family. Offer's still open.
-Rex
White stared at the email. He read and reread it several times. Leaning back against his chair, he stared at the ceiling for a while.
Finally, he let out a curse. He pressed a button on his intercom.
"Yes sir?" A female voice answered.
"Cancel my appointments for next Saturday, something came up. " He ordered.
"Right away, sir."
He sat back in his chair with a scowl which soften into a half smile. "Beat me again, Rex."

"I can't believe he actually said he'd do it." Circe shook her head. The baby in her arms began fussing. She gently bounced him, and he calmed down. She looked around. "Where is he?"
"He'll be here. He's like Six. Always keeps his promise." Rex looked up in the sky.
They stood in courtyard of Abuela's compound. Caesar and Beverly were talking with some of his friends. Six and Holiday were busy with keeping their brood from getting into too much trouble. Noah and Claire were talking with Annie and Federico off to the side. Annie was still a little too close for Rex's comfort. Little Violeta was trying to pull off her shoes.
"No, no sweetie. Keep your shoes on. The ground's dusty." Circe told her almost 2-year-old daughter.
"Yucky shoes." Violeta protested.
"Just a little longer." She reassured her daughter, but she looked at Rex who shrugged.
Just then a shadow fell over the whole courtyard. Everyone looked up. Abuela and the priest stepped out of the house.
"He's here." Rex announced.
Overhead The Keep hung in the sky. The bay doors open and a man in armor flew down to the ground.
"I'm here." White Knight stated the obvious.
Rex grinned. Six walked over with Jade.
He nodded at his friend who returned the greeting.
"We're ready to start Abuela." Rex called to the diminutive woman in the doorway. Abuela smiled and walked over with the priest. Everyone took their places. The priest greeted the people and began the ceremony.
Then came the part. The priest turned to White Knight. "Will you do all that you can to help and support Rex and Circe in the bringing up of their son, Rafael Knight Salazar?"
White Knight seemed surprised by the child's full name. "I will." He said in a strong firm voice.
The priest then took Rafael into his arms and gave the final blessing.
Abuela stepped up. "Gracias for coming to my great-grandson's christening! Come celebrate with a little food." She pointed at the table heavy laden with all sorts of treats.
She looked at White Knight and beckoned him to come.
"Thank you, but no thank you. I have a lot of work to do." He declined.
Circe brought Rafael over to him. "Rex says we need a picture of you holding Raffy."
"What?" White Knight looked alarmed. "I… I don't know how to…"
"It's ok, just support his head." Circe instructed him.
White Knight held the baby awkwardly.
"Say queso!" Caesar said as Rex with Violeta and Circe stood on either side of White Knight.
White Knight looked at the tiny figure in his arms.
Their eyes met for a second.
"I don't know what I can do for you kid, but I promise to be there for you." White said under his breath. To his surprise, Rafael reached up and patted the faceplate of his helmet as if he understood. He handed the child back to his mother. Rafael's eyes followed him as he walked away from the group to take off back to The Keep.
Rex and Circe were taken by surprise when Rafael waved to the retreating figure.
"I guess you were right about him." Circe said to Rex.
"Don't you know? I'm always right." Rex grinned cheekily.
Circe rolled her eyes, but she was smiling.
"Watch out!"
Circe stepped aside just in time to avoid getting hit by a glob. Rex, however, was not so lucky. He tried to wipe the gunk from his eyes.
"Ack, this better be mole." Rex sputtered.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Annie ran over with a towel. "The spoon was stuck, and I pulled too hard." She tripped and knocked Rex over.
"Hello Annie." Rex sighed. He got up after Federico helped Annie to her feet. Looking up, he saw The Keep leaving. He smiled. "Thanks White."
"Duck!"
Rex sighed right before everything went back.
Hope you are doing well. Enjoy.
