Abel pulled his shoes on and adjusted his leather jacket over his luck AC-DC shirt. He called into the common area, loud enough for the whole dorm to hear.

"C'mon Austin! If you're tagging along, let's go!"

After a few seconds of silence, a pair of heavy footsteps sounded out from down the hall, and Austin came lumbering into the common area. He adjusted his glasses, and rubbed his arm guards.

"So, we're going to you're place right? Anything I need to be warned about?"

Abel rose his eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

The larger teen gave a small grin. "Well, if they're anything like you, I'd like to be mentally prepared."

The long-haired teen chuckled and flipped the collar up on his jacket. "Austin, baby. There's nobody like me."

They shared a chuckled, before they headed out the dorm. Abel fixed his collar and shoved his hands in his pocket.

As they walked, Austin began conversation.

"So, what are they like? I know a bit about your mom from when you played that song, but you don't really talk a lot about them. They're not like, really embarrassing and stuff, are they?"

Abel chuckled. "Nah, don't worry bud. If they were like that, I probably wouldn't be bringing you over. They're all pretty cool. There's Bently, Cindy, David, and Ethan. Oh, and my dad and my mom of course."

The taller boy stared at Abel for a moment, waiting for him to continue. However, when he realized he wasn't going too, he rolled his eyes, and continued along side him, making idle chit-chat and the like. After about a half-hour of walking, they came upon a small house in the middle of a suburban area. Abel turned around, and spread his arms wide in presentation.

"Ah, welcome to my humble abode!"

"Abel!"

He turned around, and a woman that seemed to be in her early 40s stepped out of the doorway, and came down to Abel, wrapping him in a hug.

"So, I'm assuming that's your mom?"

She looked up in surprise, and smiled at the taller boy.

"Oh, where are my manners?" She wiped her hand on her apron, and held it out for Austin to shake.

"I'm Abel's mother, Ella. You can call me Mrs. Chevelle, or mom!"

Austin blushed, and Mrs. Chevelle smiled warmly. While they stood outside, a gruff voice called out from inside the house.

"Ella! The biscuits are burnin'!"

Abel's mother jumped up, and quickly ran into the house, and Abel grinned over to his friend.

"So. You ready to descend into the lion's din?"

Austin gave him a deadpan look. "You're really not selling me on this place."

The long-haired boy laughed, and walked towards the door, Austin not far behind. As soon as Austin walked into the home, he could tell that it was lived in. There were things strowed about, and voices coming from all directions.

"Bently! Give that back!"

"Take it from me, ho!"

Austin blanched at the interaction, and Abel simply leaned against the counter.

"So, whatcha cooking?"

Mrs. Chevelle didn't turn away from the stove. "Well, I was making biscuits and eggs and sausage! It is the weekend, so we're having a bit of a late breakfast today!"

Austin looked at the large man that was sitting at the table. He wasn't as tall as him, but he could probably pick him up and throw him. He was wearing a casual button up, and a pair of slacks, with a cigar hanging out of his mouth. He took a drag from it, and looked up at Austin.

"Woah, there. Didn't know Abel was bringing anyone over!"

He set his newspaper and cigar down, and stood up to introduce himself to Austin.

"I'm Dean Chevelle, head of this household."

He gave Austin a firm handshake, which he accepted. The man stepped back a bit, seemingly sizing the teen up.

"Well, it's been too long since Abel had someone over. Just make sure not to break anything, boy."

Abel grinned, and put his arms behind his head.

"You don't have to worry 'bout a thing, old man." He said good-naturedly.

Abel's father said something about not calling him old, before grabbing his newspaper, and continuing to read. Austin leaned down to his friend.

"So like, does he not have a phone, or does he just like the paper..?"

The rocker boy shrugged. "He's just kinda old-school like that. So is mom. You know how like the mom and dad are in like those old reality shows from like the 60s?"

Austin shook his head. "No, not really."

Abel continued. "Yeah, they're like that."

The blonde sighed at his friend's lack of explanation, before he felt something run into his torso He yelped in surprise, and looked down, seeing a younger boy with long black hair, part of it covering his eye, and….was that mascara?

The boy moved Austin out the way, and used him to block another assailant.

"David! You totally killed my hamster!"

The accuser had brown hair like Abel, and it was also long, but it seemed to be much more scraggly. He glared at the black haired boy, who simply rolled his eyes.

"Whatever, like I'd kill your dumb hamster, Ethan. I have better things to do."

He spoke low, clearly trying to make his voice sound deeper, and trying to seem cooler. Austin cringed a bit. Everyone had a phase like that at some point, the poor kid.

The other kid, now identified as Ethan, grabbed David by the collar, and brought him close to his face.

"Do I gotta open a can of whoop-butt all on you?"

If you squinted, you could see a red aura begin to surround the younger boy.

David's eyes flashed golden for a moment, and he spoke.

"Let me go."

Ethan went hazy for a moment, and loosened his grip, which gave David enough to wrench himself from his brother's grasp, and he ran away, the chase continuing momentarily after. Austin watched the spot in front of him in confusion for a few seconds, before he turned to Abel.

"What?"

Abel simply shrugged. "They're always going at it. I think they'll make a great hero team one day."

The boy suddenly snapped his fingers. "Hey, I have an old Nintendo in my room still. I didn't bring it to school in case something happened, and it got like broke or something. Plus, Bently likes to play it."

At this point, Austin decide that he was just going to be part of the ride, which seemed to happen a lot with Abel around.

As they were walking through the house, Austin admired all the family photos that line the wall. He even saw a picture of a young Abel, who's hair was in a shaggy bowl cut, and he had a huge grin with a couple of missing teeth. He chuckled at it, and continued to walk, when he felt someone bump into him again.

"Oof!"

A feminine voice grunted, and a thud sounded out as the person he hit, hit the ground. He quickly looked down, and held his hand out.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there."

The girl had big poofy brown hair, and big hoop earrings. Austin also noted that she was wearing tons of blue eye-shadow, and ruby red lipstick. She had an aggravated look on her face, before she looked up and got a good look at the big teen. Her eyes widened for a moment, before she gently accepted his hand, and got a dreamy look on her face. When he stood her up, she leaned into him.

"Oh my, I didn't know Abel had friends like you. Maybe I should go to hero school after all. At least, if they're full of hunks like you, hottie. Me-ow"

She made a cat-like motioned, and winked, and Austin was paralyzed. He was not good with women in the first place, but blatant flirting like this? And so bold! You might as well be holding him at gunpoint. Actually, no. He decided that he'd rather be held at gunpoint than tortured like this.

Abel poked his head out of a room, and pulled a spray bottle out of who-knows-where, before continuously spraying the girl.

"No, Cindy. Bad. Bad girl."

The girl yelled about her make-up and her hair, and ran from the boy, but not before giving him a "call me" sign with her hand. Abel tugged Austin into the room, and he looked around, surprised that there wasn't that much music equipment. Then, he remembered that all of Abel's instruments and the like were all in his dorm at USAHS.

"Well, here we go! Me and Bently's room."

Austin rose his eyebrow. "You share a room?"

He nodded, as if it were obvious. "Uh, well yeah. Dude, there are like five of us."

He shrugged. It wasn't like he could've known. Abel waved his hands dismissively.

"That's besides the point though. Austin, meet my main bro man, Bently."

Sitting in a chair at a computer across the room, a boy with short, brown hair spun around in his chair. He was wearing a ballcap sideways, as well as baggy t-shirt and pants. He pulled his headphones, and gave Austin a peace sign.

"Yo."

Abel returned the gesture. "Don't mind him, he's just doing some mixing and mastering. He's a total master of that stuff. He has his own recording room and everything.

Austin nodded, impressed at the achievements, and Abel directed them over to the gaming system.

He paused before he turned it on.

"Have you noticed that 99% of the time that we're together, we're gaming?"

Austin shrugged. "I just think they're too lazy to write us doing anything else."

Abel tapped his chin, before pointing at him.

"You know, you may be onto something there. Anyway, Smash Bros time!"

He quickly booted up the game system, and the two of them began to play. After a few minutes, Austin asked a question.

"So like, I think your brothers used their quirks earlier? What are they exactly?"

Abel didn't take his eyes off the screen. "Ethan has dad's quirk, which is just a normal strength enhancing quirk, and David has a sort of similar quirk to my mom, except it's a bit stronger. We call it Charm, and he can basically influence you with his voice. Of course, I think it'd work better if he didn't try so hard to be cool, but that's neither here nor there. My mom's quirk is called Soothe, and she can calm people down with her voice. Cindy, my sister, has the same quirk as her. And me, I've got a wild mix of them both!"

Austin was quiet for a moment, before gesturing to Bently.

"What about him?"

Abel looked over, and his eyes widened for a moment, realizing he had forgotten to mention his other brother.

"Oh, he's quirkless."

Austin was shocked by the casualness of the statement. That wasn't something you just heard about really anymore. Almost the entire population had a quirk, and less and less quirkless children were being born as they years passed. He had read a little bit about it before.

"Woah, okay."

Abel shrugged. "Yeah, I mean, it's really not a big deal. People make it out to be, but he doesn't really need a quirk, ya' know? He's just fine on his own."

Bently nodded from across the room, not looking away from his own computer.

"Straight up, G."

The rock-n-roll teen grinned. "See?"

Austin nodded. "I get it, I was just a bit taken aback."

Abel grinned. "I know, I said it like that on purpose."

The blonde elbowed him, and by proxy, got a win on the game.

"Finally!"

Abel coughed a bit. "You….cheated!"

Austin smirked. "Says who?"

The brunette looked take aback. "Who even are you?"

The two stared at each other for a moment, before sharing a good natured laugh, and going back to the game.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing Smash Bros, and listening to Bently's new mix. Austin had to admit, it wasn't really his type of music, but he could tell that the younger boy had a knack for what he did. They even stayed for dinner, much to Austin's delight. He could see where Abel learned to cook from, because his mom was on an entirely different level. Once he had finished eating, he leaned back in his chair with satisfaction.

"Oh, my goodness, can I live with you guys forever?"

Abel chuckled, and his mother smiled good-naturedly.

"Well, you're absolutely welcome anytime you want. Any friend of Abel's is family."

Abel nodded in agreement, and so did the rest of them. Austin was touched by the gesture, and blushed.

"Aw shucks."

Abel then let out a bark of a laugh, making everyone at the table jump.

"Dude, did you really just say 'Aw shucks?'"

Austin was silent for a moment.

"…Yes."

His friend continued to laugh at his word choice, making him roll his eyes. There went the sweet and happy moment.

After dinner, they chatted with Abel's parents for a few minutes, before heading back for USAHS. As they left, Abel's parents waved them away. Once they were gone, Ella turned to Dean.

"He seems like a nice kid."

The man nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and it's good to see that Abel has fully bounced back. Knew he would eventually."

Ella smiled warmly. "Well, yes of course. He's related to me after all."

Dean let out a chuckled. "Yeah, I guess you could say that."

The woman sent a narrow look towards her husband.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Dean simply walked back into the house.

"Dean Paul Chevelle! Come back here!"

Abel and Austin walked back to the school in comfortable silence. After a while, Austin broke the silence.

"Your folks are nice."

The other boy grinned. "Yeah. They like you a lot."

Austin gave him a curious look. "You think so?"

Abel nodded. "Trust me, I can tell when they really like something. Plus, how could they not? I mean, I've got great taste in friends."

Austin rose an eyebrow. "You mean like Drake?"

Abel was silent.

"He'll come around. Probably."

Austin chuckled. "Well, I guess we'll see."

Abel nodded. "That we will."

There were a few more moments of silence, before Abel broke it again.

"Hey, you think he would like stop moving like a frog does when it gets cold?"

Austin sighed in exasperation. This was going to be an interesting walk home.
