I own none of the characters that you may recognize, as they are property of their respective authors who allow us so graciously to use their worlds to play in and create our own stories based around their works.
AN: This chapter is another rather intermediary chapter that is a lot of background, but does introduce Harry Potter.
AN2: Forgive me if I don't follow the proper patterns of how the Wood-Between-World, since I am not certain how things are marked etc and so I am playing with things as I see fit.
Land-Beyond-The-Sea October 31, 1981 Harry Potter Time
"My sons thank you for coming," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said once he saw his eight sons who he had previously counseled with appeared in his throne room.
"Of course, father, what news have you for us to call us all here? I assume it has to do with Hadrian, I pray that his body did not die before he completed his task else we will need to ask another of our even younger brethren to try and run the world of Merlin, or simply let it be destroyed so Tash cannot take it," Aslan said cautiously.
"No, not quite, the deeper magic did come into play for him though to save his life, at the expense of his mortal mother's life," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said simply.
"We all know that was a risk whenever any of us enter our worlds that those we care for may depart from the lower lands to our countries," Hero said simply.
"Indeed, however that is not why I called you," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said simply.
"Then why have you called us father?" Arther asked kindly.
"You recall the path he chose to take to be able to master his country?" The Emperor asked softly.
"Of course, he chose the Hero's path, like Hero, myself, Arther, and Ballerion are taking, but I don't follow why that affects things, once this path is taken nothing can affect their path except death of their bodies, until they achieve their purpose, none of us can interfere, even if we wanted to," Eregon said simply.
"No, you can't mean what I think you do father, how long has it been in his world since he was born?" Chaos asked eyes going wide as the Emperor nodded.
"Chaos, please fill us in on your understanding before father simply answers your question," Lord said rolling his eyes.
"To complete one's path as a hero, they have to be accepted as a Hero by their portion of their world at the very least, even if their full task is not complete, and from there the chance of entering the Wood-Between-Worlds become open," Chaos said simply, though his eyes were still wide.
"Okay, so Hadrian became a hero, so what, I'm sure he has done some great thing and is doing amazingly well in his world, as he was here," Eru said still very confused.
"There is one piece that I am remembering that would explain Chaos and father's worry, when one crosses the Wood-Between-Worlds as one of the rulers and enters the other worlds, they enter the world at the youngest age they were at when they became a ruler, unless they have completed their full task," Aslan said to which the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea nodded.
"So he is a teenager, I was a teen when I completed my task, yes an older teen, but still a teen," Hero said simply.
"He is a year and three months old," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said simply.
"OH," The eight said now understanding why their father had called them.
"Well I know I will not just allow an infant to fall into my world with no guidance, so what can be done?" Balerion asked calmly.
"There are two options, with his age being as low as it is. But the first time when he enters the Wood he will be his normal self, and we can offer that he be reborn into each world, but if he does that and his body dies in that world he will have to be reborn yet again into that world, or the second option is that he change into an animal during the transition, but then he will have to stay in that world from the time it begins until it ends," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said simply.
"Wait you said when he first enters the world he would have to be reborn, does that mean that if he happens to reenter the Wood without dying, his body would more or less be left alone?" Arther asked his mind going a million miles a minute.
"Indeed, and if he dies any special skills he gains in the one will eventually transfer to the new body, why do you ask my son?" The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea asked kindly.
"Well since this has never been done before that I know of, but knowing how it works when normal beings, non-rulers cross the Wood, that the world they left time either stays still or passes, dependent on how we as rulers need," Arther said before Eru smiled.
"I see what you are thinking brother, if this is the case we can bless Hadrian with different gifts and have him aide in the story of our worlds to bring the most peace and prosperity to our worlds, with the least death," Eru said with a smile.
"I cannot say whether or not that would work, but I won't forbid it either as long as you didn't take him out of a battle right before his body would die," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said smiling at his sons.
"I like the way you two think, though I don't think I will have him enter my world earlier than I had already planned, though father, does he have to remain a magi or human, or can he become something more?" Eregon asked kindly.
"As long as you do not make him so overly gifted that the world will follow him solely due to the gifts you give him, I won't say anything more, except that if he is more than human, and dies he cannot return again as that higher being," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said with a smile.
"I see no problems with that restriction," Eregon said with a grin.
"I have one more request before we all return to our own countries, that if he befriends a member of a certain race or culture, he be allowed to save them in his country, so then in our final battle he already has an army of his own," Aslan said calmly.
"Again I see no problem with that, unless they are heroes in their respective worlds and their fate determines the fate of the world they are in, such as had Crom not fallen, if he befriended Conan, he could not take Conan into his own country," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said firmly.
"Fair enough, now I'm sure we all have plans to aide our brother let us return to our own countries," Aslan said before the eight vanished.
November 1988
"Where are you freak, why don't you come out so we can play with ya?" A thin rat faced boy called out as he and a group of bigger boys looked around the school yard.
"Look Piers he is over there," One of the bigger boys said pointing out a small dark haired boy with glasses a little ways off.
"Oh good, here we come freak, once we catch you we can play a new game like shoving your head in the toilet," The largest of the boys said as he started leading the group after the small boy.
"No way am I going to get caught," The boy thought to himself before noticing that where he had turned was a dead end.
"Look Big D, the freak just walked into the dumpster area, so either he will be in the trash or we'll be able to catch him," Piers said with a laugh.
"I need to get away, I need to get away," the boy thought to himself as he realized the same thing as Piers before a small pop was heard and he was gone.
Woods-Between-Worlds
"Why am I here, I am still a child, and I know I have not completed my full task," Hadrian said aloud as he recognized where he was before a light appeared in front of him causing him to fall to his knees.
"You don't have to kneel my son, I understand your confusion though," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said as he grabbed Hadrian's hand pulling him to his feet.
"Father, what are you doing here, and how am I here, the Woods-between-worlds is only open to select few, and rulers of worlds, and since I chose the Hero path, I should not be able to access the wood yet, I know I am still only 8 in my world," Hadrian said very confused.
"I know my son; however, do you recall the Deepest Magic that governs the Wood-Between-Worlds and keeps it separate from other worlds?" The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea asked kindly.
"Yes, which is why I am confused, I should neither be here, nor in this form, one leaves the world from they come the same age as they left, and return to the same moment they left," Hadrian said simply.
"Yes, but there are two loopholes, one is for rulers, and the other for rulers on the hero path, and both are at play here, you may not be aware, but due to your mortal mother accessing the Deeper Magic you are considered a Hero by the entire Magical World, within your world, and your age at the occurrence causes some problems," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said simply.
"Oh, okay then, so shall I just return to my own world now then?" Hadrian asked calmly.
"Actually, you remember your greater calling correct, to gain the trust and respect of the worlds of eight of your brethren to aide in the coming wars," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said hopefully.
"Yes, however I have not completed my own path yet," Hadrian said simply.
"Well I was just going to point out that since you can access the Wood-Between-Worlds, that you may want to start in your journeys in the other worlds for a time, perhaps spend a season in each other world before you return to your own path, a few of your brethren are waiting for you to come to start their world's story," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said suggestively.
"But won't I enter those worlds as a 15 month old, yeah no thanks," Hadrian said before starting to turn.
"Or you could be reborn as an infant in those worlds, which is something that Chaos, Arther, Eregon, Balerion, Eru, and Lord all are willing to give you extra gifts if you do so, just saying," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said hoping his son would agree to the thought.
"Is there any particular reason why Aslan and Hero don't want this?" Hadrian asked turning back.
"Well Aslan likes having his heroes a bit older, especially if they are human, and Hero says to be able to survive infancy is 1/10,000 chance so does not want to risk it, though with Aslan he wants your input when he creates the world so he will wait until you have at least gotten a ways into your true path," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said with a smile.
"Fine you convinced me, does it matter who I go see first?" Hadrian asked calmly.
"Not really, though from what I know of your brother Eru, his world will take thousands of years for anything to really occur," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said with a smirk.
"True, Eru is known for his long lived beings who do everything slowly, but won't I die before anything really happens then?" Hadrian asked kindly.
"Well if you aren't opposed they can make you more than mortal once, so he may make you an elf or something more perhaps, but if you die then you can't be born as anything more than a mortal," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said kindly.
"Cool, then I guess I will go see Eru, and I doubt I will see you again until my true path is complete, correct father?" Hadrian asked sadly.
"Indeed, but you will be miraculous, but remember you won't remember much of this conversation until you complete your true path, but now steps have been taken so you have your greatest chance of success," The Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea said before vanishing as Hadrian moved over to a pool by a tree marked by a flame, which he knew was for the flame imperishable, before he dove into the pool.
AN: I hope to have the first chapter of Harry's adventures in the World of Tolkien up by the end of the Weekend, but no promises, it will be in as a new story. This Story will focus solely on Harry's adventures in the World of Rowling, and in the Wood-Between-Worlds
