Previously on Dragon Ball Aftermath: Rewrite

A dark blob vaguely in the shape of a buff figure would be floating in the middle of space, but not in a familiar one. They would be in a different universe from the others.

It would cough, reforming one of its arms. "I nearly died to those fools... I managed to escape before they caught me."

Dark red eyes form, as the being looks down at their hands. "This time, I won't be so careless. I will annihilate all of the mortals and gods, and allow my father to become the Omni King."

He roars energy shooting out from him. "I, LORD ABYSUS, WILL RETURN TO MY FORMER GLORY! No, even greater. I will be even stronger than Zeno's guards..."

Chapter Eight

After Goku and Vegeta eat a Senzu Bean, they would go down to Earth, going to check up on Broly. He would be in a healing pod similar to the ones used by Frieza, developed by Bulma.

There would be a short supply of Senzu Beans during the season so the brute would have to recover normally. Goku watches him slowly breathing, only his head and shoulders visible in the small window.

Bulma types on the computer, looking back and forth. "He's sustained a lot of injuries, but his vitals are stable. He should be fine as long as he rests here for about a week without disturbance."

Goku smiles. "Thanks, Bulma. I owe you one."

She sighs. "Considering I'm healing the very being that nearly destroyed the planet and forced me to evacuate the city into a massive underground bunker, hell yeah, you do!"

Bulma closes her eyes and takes deep breaths. "Look, you two, your battles on Earth have gotten extremely dangerous. Can you try not to keep causing this much damage? I know it's hard with a powerful enemy, but can't you bring it to another planet?"

"Sure thing," Vegeta grumbles. "We'll just kindly ask our enemy to fight to the death on the next planet over." In response, Bulma smacks him on the head.

"We'll try our best," Goku replies. "It's not like we want our home to be destroyed. It's as Vegeta said. I can't just simply teleport them away since I'll end up endangering other lives."

"Why don't you learn that one technique the Kais used?" Vegeta asks him. "The... Ki ki...? Kai..."

"It's pronounced 'Kai Kai'," a voice says behind them. They turn around to see Whis and Shin the Supreme Kai.

"Oh hey, Whis, Shin!" Goku greets, waving his hand. "What are you guys doing here?"

Whis looks at him, his face expressionless. "We aren't here on good terms, Goku-san. Father is calling a meeting to determine Lord Beerus's fate as the god of destruction."

Goku's smile quickly fades. "What?! What happened? Why him?!"

"It's due to that dangerous technique he used against Abysus," Shin replies, "Absolute... Hakai."

The Saiyan's eyes widen, as he would've remembered the battle. He'd recall what Beerus had used.

Abysus raised an eyebrow. "You're going to risk losing your position as a God of Destruction by using that, maybe even leading to erasure."

Beerus would've been too angry to listen to him. "I am the authority of Universe Seven, God of Destruction Beerus. You will be erased with the rest of the cosmos. Judgment will now be passed onto you, Abysus."

He flickered, as the Earth's atmosphere faded away. "100%... Absolute Hakai... Disappear."

Goku snaps out of his mind. "But that's not fair! Beerus was doing it to protect the multiverse from being destroyed by this guy! Why teach it to him if he can't even use it?"

Whis closes his eyes. "I did not teach him that technique, Goku-san. Over the millions of years they train, some of the gods of destruction developed their own techniques that are far too powerful for the safety of the universe."

"That's why the Grand Priest ordered the angels to tell them those techniques are forbidden," Shin would continue for him. "We're lucky his attack didn't erase the entire universe. Whis-san prevented it from causing too much damage, but the higher-ups still took notice of it."

Goku looks down at the ground. "This still isn't fair. He had no choice."

"He did have a choice," Shin says. "He could've left this dangerous situation to his attendant; his angel. This is the problem with the gods of destruction. They are far too brash."

"I have to admit that he's right," Whis agrees. "A being of that level of power should've been left to an angel."

"Why tell me all this?" Goku asks. "This isn't any of my business."

"Because we need to consider the next person to be the god of destruction, should Lord Beerus be eradicated," Whis explains.

"I won't let that happen," Vegeta says, walking forward. "While I do one day want to become the god of destruction, I'm not ready to..." He turns toward Bulma, who smiles. He looks away, his face red with embarrassment. "I'm not powerful enough."

The angel smiles. "Oh, I see now. Very well. Goku-san, you are a possible candidate."

"Noone's gonna replace Beerus anytime soon," the Saiyan states, raising his fist. "I'm going with you guys. I'll convince Daishinkan to forgive him."

A beat of sweat goes down Shin's face. "Goku, do you realize what you're saying?! That could lead to grave consequences, maybe even erasure of you or us!"

"Let's consider the fact that Goku-san bought time for Father to severely injure Abysus," the angel says. The Supreme Kai looks over, his jaw dropping. "You too, Whis?"

He nods. "Yes, Shin. Father trusts Goku-san, at least for now. But Goku-san, why do you wish to save Lord Beerus so badly? The first time he met, he nearly killed you and nearly destroyed Earth."

Goku looks down, remembering how Beerus's attitude had changed the longer he'd been around them. During the battle with him earlier, he had respected him as a warrior.

The angel would know what he is thinking and smiles. "You have quite the kind heart, Goku. Very well. Remember, I do not go against my father's wishes, but there won't be a problem if I let you do all the talking." He winks.

"Alright, let's go," Vegeta says. Whis taps his staff and they arrive at Daishinkan's palace shortly after. Goku and Vegeta would see all of the gods of destruction and angels gathered together, plus some others.

He looks over at the newcomers and realizes they must be from the erased universes. Whis and Shin bow down, so the Saiyans would decide to follow their lead. Vegeta slowly glances up and mutters, "Look."

Goku looks up as well to see Beerus walking forward, before bowing down to a throne high up. There, Daishinkan gets up and walks down, stopping on the second to last step.

There would be tension between the gods for a moment until he speaks up. "Beerus, the god of destruction of universe seven. It is now time to decide your fate for using a strongly forbidden destruction technique."

He levitates in the air. "As you know, using such a technique could've eradicated not only universe seven, but possibly even some of the surrounding ones. Would you explain why you did not leave the matter of Abysus to your angel?"

Beerus looks directly at Goku, Vegeta, Whis, and Shin, then back at the Grand Priest. "There is no justification for my actions, sire, except for the fact that I wanted to protect the universe from harm as its destroyer."

There would be muttering among the other destroyers until Daishinkan raises his hand, silencing them. "I see. I understand your intentions, Beerus, but according to Goku-san, Vegeta-san, and your explanation back then after the battle, you used that technique on an angelic-level being, knowing that it wouldn't work, with Whis himself warning you to not engage. Not only wasn't your technique successful, but it caused massive damage."

Beerus would remain silent, as Daishinkan continues. "You received my message millions of years ago not to use that technique, or it will lead to erasure. Do you have a candidate to replace you?"

"No, my lord," the god of destruction says blankly. The Grand Priest closes his eyes. "Very well. I will personally appoint a replacement for you. Your fate has been decided."

Goku would get up, walking forward. "Hold on a minute, Daishinkan."

All the gods, even Beerus, would look up in shock, but wouldn't dare say anything. "There has to be another way rather than eradicating him."

The Grand Priest turns toward him, staring him in his eyes. "Son Goku, I assume you were brought here by Whis for reasons I do not understand. Tell me, why did you interfere?"

Vegeta would then get up, walking forward next to Goku. "Beerus shouldn't be erased. I know he didn't admit it himself, but he didn't just do it to protect the universe." He turns toward Beerus. "He also did it to protect us and Whis."

Daishinkan hovers to the ground, walking forward. "Goku-san, Vegeta-san, I understand your point, but I have already decided his fate. I warned him not to do such actions many years ago, yet he continued. Disobeying us is unacceptable. I do appreciate you for helping us defeat Abysus, Goku, but you have no leverage against something of this importance."

Vegeta raises his fist. "And Abysus wasn't important?! You were losing against him, even fused with the angels! It was Kakarot here that bought enough time to charge your ultimate attack!"

Sidra, the destroyer of universe nine, would blurt out. "Do not disrespect Daishinkan! He-"

Daishinkan raises his hand to stop him from speaking. "As I previously stated, Beerus's fate has already been decided. Abysus was defeated thanks to Zeno's guards, not us."

He walks toward Beerus and raises his hand toward him, him charging a blue neon orb. "Worry not, Lord Beerus. You will not feel any pain. My apologies, but you should have heeded my warning."

Goku slides his foot back and enters Ultra Instinct Omen, shooting in front and pushing Beerus out of the way. "That's enough! If I cannot save Lord Beerus, then I will save him using force."

Daishinkan glares at him then raises the blue orb toward Goku. "You have made a mistake, Goku. You will also be erased for interfering."

"How about this, Daishinkan?" Goku asks, lightly grabbing his hand and lowering it away from him. "I will vouch for Lord Beerus, so Vegeta and I will fight you two on one. If you win, Beerus, and I will be erased. I don't want Vegeta to be erased, since I'm the one dragging him into this. If I win, then Beerus is set free."

Everyone, including Whis and Shin, would watch in horror, as Daishinkan stops charging the blue orb. "Very well. We are not in the presence of Lord Zeno, so I will entertain your idea."

Vegeta clenches his fists. "Kakarot, I hope you know what you're doing."

Goku remains silent as Daishinkan raises his hands, creating an arena similar to the exhibition match before the Tournament of Power. All the gods would watch above as Goku and Vegeta stand across from the Grand Priest himself, getting into a stance.

Goku sweats, knowing he is facing somebody leagues above him, even above Whis. "Vegeta, full power right off the bat." He closes his eyes and enters Ultra Instinct Omen. He would then start to glow brighter and enter its completed state, his hair turning silver. He'd have mastered it during the battle with Broly.

Vegeta yells and enters Perfected Super Saiyan Blue Evolution, having no aura around him. Daishinkan stares at them blankly, observing their powers. He'd have his hands around his back. "Come."

Goku yells and shoots forward at blinding speeds, swinging a kick. It would be stopped by an invisible barrier, the Grand Priest not budging. Vegeta vanishes behind him and attempts to maul him into the ground.

Without turning around, Daishinkan reaches his arm back and stops it with his finger. "Is that all?"

Goku yells and rapidly barrages him, shock waves shooting across the universe. He then leaps back and launches a Kamehameha. Daishinkan raises his hand and stops it, being completely unphased.

The Saiyan powers down from Ultra Instinct, squinting. "I need to use as much power as possible, rather than just speed." He yells and enters Perfected Super Saiyan Blue. "KAIOKEN TIMES TWENTY!"

A massive red tint illuminates the aura, sending bursts of wind everywhere. He launches forward at full speed, bringing his hand back. He roars, launching a One-Handed Kamehameha.

It explodes. Before the smoke fades, Goku and Vegeta launch forward and see the Grand Priest's figure. They swing a full power punch and it lands, but... it doesn't do anything. The smoke disperses from the force and Daishinkan stares up at them, not having a single scratch on him.

"It's my turn now," he replies. He raises one finger and then stops moving before a bunch of slices go into Vegeta, blood spilling out. He twitches and falls to the ground, coughing.

He does the same to Goku, who would also fall down, grunting. "What... happened?" He feels everything going dark around him for a second, him struggling to get up. "I didn't see anything... I've already..."

There'd be silence for a moment as Daishinkan raises his hand. "As you wish, I will not further harm Vegeta, but as for you..." He raises his hand and charges a blue orb. "You and Lord Beerus will now be eradicated."

Goku wakes up in a dark place, his vision blurry for a moment. "It's cold... I'm going to die here..."

Suddenly, things would change around him. He'd be on Earth again, him being in the same place as his dream. "I'm dreaming again..." He gets up to see a different figure, looking similar to himself.

He raises his fist. "Tell me who you are! Zamasu?!"

The figure laughs, sounding just like Goku, but would have more malice. His voice would sound like it is coming from the shadows. "You've known me all this time..."

The figure walks forward, still being shrouded in darkness. "You're a Saiyan, aren't you? You are meant to be the strongest. Don't let those... foolish gods get in your way."

"I'm asking you who you are!" Goku asks. "Why am I having these dreams?!"

The figure laughs again. "You've lost me for a long time. Spar with me, Goku. Use that power."

Goku would feel himself powering up. A strange aura surrounds him, as his hair glows a bright neon purple. He looks at his hands. "That's the same power as last time... What form is this?! It's not like the form Whis used..."

The figure laughs, as it glows, using the same power. "You'll learn in time... You'll also remember my name when the time comes..." The dreamscape disappears as Goku finds himself in the same state in front of a shocked Daishinkan.

This time, he'd be conscious to see it. "This power... My body can't contain it..."

A massive shock wave of energy shoots out, sending the gods back. Daishinkan raises his hand to block it. "What is that extreme power, Goku? What have you done?"

Vegeta slowly looks up, trembling. "That's..."

Goku feels this power starting to tear his body apart. "I have to settle this in one punch... With one final attack..." He raises his fist and concentrates the energy. The skin on his fist begins to peel, starting to bleed.

Daishinkan gets into a stance as the Saiyan shoots forward at speeds his mind cannot comprehend, but he'd swing the punch. The Grand Priest barely manages to block it, being sent flying back.

Goku powers down, the remaining energy escaping and shattering the arena. He pants heavily, his vision blurry. "I... did it..."

Daishinkan reappears, holding his arm. A green glow emanates from the hand holding his arm. "You injured my arm..." He'd barely be able to form sentences, not understanding what just happened.

Goku chuckles, before falling to his knees, blood spilling out of him. He coughs up blood. The form would've severely damaged him. "Heh... Guess I tried..." He falls onto his stomach, panting.

The Grand Priest stares at him for a moment, then turns around. He walks forward then stops for a while. "You have one last chance, Beerus." He vanishes away, leaving the gods speechless.

Whis flies over and taps his staff on Goku, healing him. "That... That power was the same one you used against me. To think it could damage my father..."

Goku gets up, still feeling a little tired. "I met someone in my mind that looked just like me, but it wasn't Goku Black. It felt familiar."

Whis nods slowly. "I'm not sure, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing it again in the near future."

Shin walks up to him. "Technically, this made you a god, even for a moment. I think I'll be able to teach you Kai Kai. It could be useful for battles and getting anywhere you'd like."

"Sure thing," Goku replies. Whis walks over and heals Vegeta, who gets up. "Kakarot, whatever kind of energy you used, I will learn it as well."

"I wish I knew how to use it," Goku says. "It just... happened."

"Let's leave," Shin interrupts. "I don't think the gods will be stunned for long. The destroyers might try to kill us."

Beerus walks over, staring at Goku in silence. After a moment, he'd close his eyes. "Dumbass... You fought the Grand Priest to save me, the destroyer. I'm not going to thank you."

"You're welcome!" Goku replies as the four of them go back to Earth. Beerus turns toward Whis. "Whis, let's go. I think I've had enough excitement for one day. Shin, train the Saiyan your technique."

"It should work," Shin replies. "We'll give it a shot."

Whis and Beerus shoot out of the atmosphere, and Shin would teleport away, leaving Goku and Vegeta. The two Saiyans stand there in silence, a light breeze in the air.

"Kakarot-" Vegeta is about to say, but Goku raises his hand to stop him. "I don't know, Vegeta. That form... I managed to injure Daishinkan. I don't know what's going on."

He sighs. "Anyway, we saved Lord Beerus from certain death, so we should get back to training. Maybe I can eventually master that power."

The prince nods. "Fine. We'll go to the gravity chamber. Bulma told me she upgraded it."

Two days later, the Saiyans would be training intensely, having a limited supply of Senzu Beans to restore them when they get tired. They would continue to do this for a while until they get a visitor.

Whis walks into the gravity chamber with Beerus and they turn off the intense gravity. Goku would've launched at Vegeta, but the lower gravity would suddenly make him lose balance and smash into the wall at high speeds, rattling the chamber.

"Ow!" He gets up, turning toward them. "What are you guys doing here?"

"I have bad news, Goku-san," Whis says, a deadly serious expression on his face. "Let's go to Bulma's to discuss it."

Reluctantly, the two Saiyans follow them. They would sit down at the table, a plethora of food prepared for them. They all eat for a little while, until Whis sets down his plate, looking at Goku and Vegeta.

"Abysus is alive," he says.
