I swept up the shrine.
I walked across and sat in front of the altar where the flames danced.
I knelt, gazing into the flames and using her power of pyromancy to see into the future. I saw something strange in the flames. A monstrous demon reflected in the fire. A powerful priestess exorcised him, and his death became the crucible for a holy sword.
I stood. This was all very interesting. It was rare that I would catch a glimpse of the past. But I had. I must find the sword, before evil came to claim it.
"Priestess." Sesshomaru had been standing behind me. "What have you seen in the flames?"
I shook myself from the visions. "It was nothing, my lord."
A hand on my shoulder. "You must tell me. I shall protect you from harm."
I shook her head. "I haven't used my power in a long time."
"And why would such a thing be necessary?" Sesshomaru asked me. "This Sesshomaru shall protect you. There is no need to—"
I put a large red coat on and went outside. It was snowing, and the sword trembled in the clearing.
I walked forward and realized the snow was not falling around the sword. Whatever had sent the blade to this place had erected a barrier.
I walked forward, and was repelled. I incanted several choice words, and my shadow lengthened and went outside the barrier, while I, glowing with silver light, entered the barrier and reached out.
"Little Miko!" Sesshomaru stood at the edge of the barrier. "Stop!"
My hand gripped the hilt.
And all hell broke loose.
