After finding out about Zateus's connections with Omesus and Zydis, Daishinkan punished and ordered him to sever his bonds or there will be dire consequences. Reluctantly, the Grand Priest obliged, having gone to Omesus's world to tell him the bad news. Before he left, Daishinkan rethought his choices and told Zateus that he didn't have to cut ties with Omesus, giving the Saiyan a chance to prove himself and train under Vados to become the God of Destruction of Universe Six.
Later, Qube finally decided to enact his plan of taking over the multiverse with his Frost Demons. Omesus, Zateus, and Zydis would have to take down the army and Qube together to save reality from the king's tyranny.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Qube opens his eyes, and they would glow neon blue. His voice would sound distorted now. "Now, let's begin the real battle, shall we?"
He flickers and launches forward at a speed Omesus can barely react to. He grunts, blocking a punch that sends him flying. "This speed!"
The Frost Demon vanishes behind him and brings his fist back, slamming it against his back. Omesus spits out blood, feeling his spine cracking. He flies forward, tumbling across the ground and landing on his stomach.
Qube walks forward, grinning. "What was that about no strength being able to outmatch yours? Your title as the King of Saiyans means nothing. To me, you're just an insecure ant."
Omesus pants, before getting up, and getting into a stance. "Nothing will keep me down, demon. No matter what, I will defeat you."
Qube's smile fades, as he raises his finger, charging up a powerful blast. "Is that so? Let's test that theory then. Maybe ten percent of my power will do."
He fires a Death Beam at blinding speeds, which goes through the Saiyan's chest and narrowly avoids his heart. He coughs up blood, his body trembling. His legs shake, but Omesus growls and kneels, digging his fingers into the solid ground.
He roars, grabbing hold of the terrain and throwing it up, destroying the surface of the planet. The Frost Demon grunts, before flying up to avoid the devastation. Omesus takes the chance to vanish above him, going to hammer him to the ground.
When his fists collide, he watches in shock as Qube turns around, smiling. He'd be completely unphased. "Pathetic." He swipes his hand, cutting his chest open and the Saiyan's pupils fade for a moment.
His vision becomes blurry as blood pours out of him. He begins to feel dizzy but would stay up out of pure willpower. "I indeed have no chance against you, but..." He slowly rises, trembling. "... I will protect my universe and my people, no matter the cost."
For a split second, his irises glow white as he brings back a fist, covering it in pure energy. He'd slightly tap into the White Divine energy. He slams his fist into the Frost Demon's gut and he reels back, coughing.
Qube clutches his stomach, before getting angry and powering up, bringing back his fist. "I WILL SEND YOUR SKELETON FLYING BACK TO YOUR PLANET!" He swings it at full force and the Saiyan closes his eyes, preparing for his demise.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar figure vanishes in front of Qube and easily catches his attack, shocking the Frost Demon. "Who the hell are you?!"
The caped figure looks up, and two neon blue eyes glare at the Frost Demon. In an instant, faster than Omesus or anybody can react, Qube would be sent flying through outer space, going to a faraway place.
The Saiyan looks up, trying to keep his eyes open, but with his blurry vision, he sees the figure pull down its hood, and it would look... green. He then passes out, thinking this is his end.
Zydis incinerates a majority of the Frost Demons, kicking the others away. He yells, his power spiraling out of control. The ground under him starts to disappear, alongside the planet. "HAAAAA!" He charges forward, punching more of the creatures into outer space, feeling the strain on his body.
He swipes his hand, sending an arc of concentrated Destruction energy that completely eradicates twenty of them. "H... How many are there?! It's as if Qube sent most of them to wipe out the gods themselves."
Suddenly, he yells in pain, falling to his knees. He powers down, panting heavily. Frost Demons swarm him, beating on him. He'd be unable to fight back, as his energy is completely drained. "W... Wh..." He coughs out blood. "WHIS!"
Immediately, all the creatures get flung back, as Whis stands in front of Zydis, his staff raised. "That is enough. I will not allow you to further harm my student."
Despite his warning, the Frost Demons laugh and charge forward and the angel gets into a stance, squinting. One of them goes to grab him, but he shoots his palm out, sending them flying into their siblings.
The creatures swarm Whis, and despite his best efforts, there would be too many of them. Even he wouldn't be able to take on this many warriors at once. He slams his staff on the ground, a massive shockwave shooting out and knocking all of them back.
They all get back up and attack him again, forcing him to create a barrier of energy. "This is quite the predicament... These creatures are powerful on their own and in large numbers. That's a problem. We must retreat, my lord."
Despite his urgency, Zydis doesn't listen and raises his hand, charging a powerful technique. The angel's eyes widen when he realizes what this is. "Zydis, you mustn't! That technique is too dangerous!"
"I know, but… these freaks need to be stopped!" Zydis roars and a massive shockwave shoots out, affecting the entire multiverse. "Ultra… HAKAI!"
A beam of Destruction energy shoots out, eviscerating a majority of the Frost Demons. It gets bigger and starts to consume the planet. Whis shoots over as quickly as he can, tapping his staff. A pillar of light consumes him and Zydis, and they shoot off into the sky right before the attack destroys the entire planet.
Zateus spins his staff, eradicating a majority of the Frost Demons in this section of the multiverse. "This is bad. I'm sensing some of the Destroyer candidates dying to these monsters."
He powers up, using the power of Destruction. He charges forward, erasing many others in an instant. Suddenly, a figure zooms past him at blinding speeds, crashing through a nearby planet. "What the?!"
He flies toward it and his eyes widen to see Qube, who'd be bruised and groaning. "What?! But... I sensed him fighting Omesus. How did he end up here...? No god is capable of launching something with that much velocity."
The Frost Demon growls and powers up, noticing Zateus. "You... Were you the one who launched me?! You will pay for that!"
He charges forward, swinging a heavy punch but the Grand Priest blocks it with his arm knocked back. "You've gotten stronger, Qube. Haven't learned your lesson yet?"
Qube roars and powers up even further, rapidly barraging him, but Zateus creates multiple barriers of energy to block it. "This time, I won't let you survive."
In an instant, Zateus vanishes in front of him and slams many punches into the weakened Frost Demon, knocking him back and forth. "GWUAAHH!"
The Grand Priest flies up and slams him down to the nearest star. He grunts, flying back up and panting. "Damn you, gods!" He yells, launching a barrage of Death Beams that he dodges.
The angel vanishes behind him and kicks him in the back, knocking him back. "This is the end, Qube. Your attack has failed and you will be erased for endangering the multiverse."
He raises his staff, charging up an anti-matter blast. "Any final words?"
Qube coughs, smirking up at him. "Yeah, just one. Die."
Suddenly, multiple Death Beams pierce his chest and he coughs up blood, grunting. He looks behind him to see thousands of Frost Demons attacking him. "He's caught me off guard!"
Qube takes the chance to rush forward and kick him in his gut, sending him flying. Zateus stops himself, bleeding before he yells and powers up. He combines White Divine energy and Destruction energy, creating True Destruction.
He shoots forward, nailing Qube in the stomach with a punch, sending him flying back. "AGHH!"
Zateus charges a full-power blast, the entire universe shaking. "True Hakai!" He fires it, a massive white beam slamming into Qube and he yells, flying into the nearest star once again and it begins to erupt.
The Grand Priest pours all of his power into it and it becomes even bigger, causing the entire star to explode in a supernova. He watches, seeing nothing remaining of Qube. "The deed is done."
The supernova destroys the remaining Frost Demons in this area, as he creates a barrier around him to protect himself. "I must go report to Daishinkan."
Zateus closes his eyes and teleports to the entrance of the palace, opening the door. "Father, I have returned. Qube is dead and-..." He pauses, beads of sweat forming on his face.
There, pinned down on the ground, would be his son Qhuteus. Daishinkan towers over him, holding him by the head. "Well done, Zateus. I'm dealing with this intruder."
Qhuteus grunts, trying to kick Daishinkan off of him but he wouldn't be powerful enough. "Father, this asshole is disrespecting me!"
Daishinkan looks up at Zateus, squinting. "'Father'? Explain this at once, Zateus!"
The Grand Priest's heartbeat speeds up, as he would barely be able to form words. "M-My lord... He's... I... I... I adopted him years ago."
There'd be complete silence until the Omni King picks Qhuteus up and throws him in front of Zateus. "Time and time again, you cause problems for me. First, you allowed the Frost Demons to evolve this quickly. Secondly, you associate yourself with mortals without my permission."
He walks forward and stops right in front of Zateus, glaring into his eyes. "And finally, you adopt a child, a child with power too great for a mortal's. Enough is enough, Zateus."
The Grand Priest swallows. "But, I... I defeated Qube, my lord. I adopted Qhuteus because-"
Daishinkan brings his arm back and slams a punch in his face, sending him flying to the wall. He coughs up blood, falling to his knees. "It's over, Zateus. I have given you enough chances, but you aren't fit to be my attendant."
He raises his hand and Zateus lurches forward, feeling his angelic powers being completely stripped away. "You are not worthy to hold the powers of the gods. You've shown your dedication to mortals, so perhaps you should live as one forever."
"Father, please!" Zateus feels himself tearing up. "Please give me one last chance! I won't fail you again!"
The Omni King stares down at him coldly, before closing his eyes. "You are no son of mine, Zateus." Upon hearing this, Zateus trembles as Daishinkan starts to walk away. "I will alter your and your friends' memories. You will have no recollection of being the Grand Priest or knowing me. Omesus will not become a Destroyer either. I will transport you to Planet Omesus to reside for the rest of your life."
He stops in front of Qhuteus, picking him up. "Until further notice, I will seal this child until I decide what his fate is. Goodbye, Zateus."
"FATHER!" Zateus yells, but his mind becomes blank, as he falls unconscious. Daishinkan walks up to him and his face softens before he closes his eyes and sighs. "You were meant for so much more, Zateus..."
Zateus gets up out of bed, yawning. He gets up, goes outside, and takes a drink of fresh water to hydrate himself. He'd be ready for another day of training with his brother Omesus.
From what he remembers, he would've landed here as a baby from an unknown origin and his two Saiyan parents would've raised him, alongside his adoptive brother Omesus. He wouldn't be a Saiyan, but he'd still have potential as a warrior.
When he was sixteen years old, a being calling himself the God of Destruction and his attendant would've arrived on this planet, coming to visit these powerful warriors and make sure they stay good. He'd call himself Zydis, and he, Zateus, and Omesus would quickly get along.
Later on, Zydis even brings the two brothers to his planet and would ask Whis, his angel, to train them. Strangely, the angel would've been hesitant as if this was a bad idea but would comply.
Sometimes, he would dream of him being a powerful being like Whis, bowing in front of a superior figure, but the details would be blurry and he wouldn't understand them, thinking it's simply a figment of his imagination.
For decades, Whis trains him and Omesus to become powerful warriors, even capable of fighting on par with their best friend Zydis. Zydis would also tell them he has a wife that's seven months pregnant with two children. He'd tell stories about his wife and how her temper would easily get out of control, but she was still sweet to him.
In his spare time, he'd also meet a Saiyan woman to who he'd quickly grow attached and they would expect a kid of their own soon.
One night, something strange would happen. Zateus and Omesus both have the same dream about a godly figure who calls himself a Namekian. His name would be Zalama, the Dragon God.
He'd offer to train the two to prepare for a big event that is soon to happen. Despite being suspicious, curiosity overcomes their concerns and they would agree to train with the deity.
Zalama tells them to enter the portal when they wake up. After they agree, sure enough, they wake up to see a portal next to their beds. Reluctantly, they head into the portal.
They end up in a completely blank dimension, with the Dragon God himself in front of them. He walks forward, wearing a white cape, having a blue glow around him, and neon purple eyes. "Greetings, Zateus, Omesus. We meet in our corporeal forms."
He taps his staff, solid ground forming beneath their feet. "You may not know me very well, but I am from a place beyond this universe or any other." Projections of countless multiverses appear behind him, stunning the two warriors.
"I know every possible event this multiverse has taken in the past, present, and future," he explains. "I am merely a fragment of my true self, here to train you two to allow the events to continue as they are destined to."
He turns toward Zateus. "You do not know at this present moment, Zateus, but... You already have a son."
The mortal takes a step back, stumbling. "What?! You're lying! I would never cheat on my wife!"
"You misunderstand me," Zalama replies. "His name is Qhuteus."
Immediately, multiple blurry memories rush through Zateus's head and he falls to his knees, Omesus running over to help him. "Are you okay, brother?"
Zateus grunts, holding his head. He'd have blurry visions of himself witnessing a strangely familiar child destroy a planet before he adopted him. "Why... why do I now remember all of this?"
"You don't know your past, young one," Zalama explains. "I cannot tell you everything, as you must remember the rest on your own. However, I will dedicate myself to training you to become a god."
"A... god?" Zateus says in shock. "I... But how? I'm only a mortal."
The Dragon God smiles at this comment, finding it amusing since he himself knows the truth. "You are mortal, yes, but do you think Zydis was always a god? His journey began as a mortal, just like you."
Omesus chimes in. "Sir, what about our family?"
"Worry not, little one," Zalama replies. "I've split you two so there are exact copies on your home planet for now. Once I reunite both halves, you will remember everything."
He walks up to Zateus and Omesus, placing his hands on their heads and closing his eyes. "It's time to awaken your inner potential. Zateus, you are what is known as a Fallen Angel. You used to be like Whis."
Zateus's eyes widen. "But... how? I was sent here as a child."
"Your memories were altered," the Dragon God explains. "What you think you remember is a lie. One day, you'll know the truth."
He awakens their potential and massive auras engulf the two warriors, shocking them. Omesus looks at his hands, which would be trembling slightly. "This is what I'm capable of...?"
Zalama nods. "That's correct, Omesus. Now, we will begin your training. Zateus, you will focus on creating your own unique fighting style. Omesus, you will master White Divine energy and use that power in conjunction with your Saiyan abilities."
In an instant, he'd be meters away from them, placing his hands behind his back. "I will now spar with the both of you. Show me your full power."
Omesus and Zateus look at each other and nod before they both yell and power up, massive glowing auras surrounding them. Omesus's muscles bulk up, as he combines God Ki with his True Super Saiyan form.
The only thing about Zateus's appearance that would change is his irises glow white, but his power would increase exponentially. "Let's do this together, brother."
The two yell and fly toward Zalama at full speed. They launch a combined beam that Zalama easily evades, vanishing behind them and sweeping their feet, knocking them down to the ground.
Omesus spins around and covers his fist in energy, going to uppercut him, but the Dragon God simply pushes the punch to the Saiyan's own face, which connects and sends him flying, immediately knocking him out.
Zateus slams his foot on the reflective ground and yells, going forward at full speed. He swings a punch that sends white particles of energy flying toward the Dragon God, who spins his staff and knocks it away.
Zalama launches a barrage of beams that the warrior dodges with difficulty. He runs forward and leaps up, going to drop-kick him, but Zalama steps out of the way and goes to punch him.
The punch phases through the warrior, due to it being an afterimage. Zateus dashes around him, barraging him with punches and kicks. Zalama summons a cup of tea and a levitating book, casually sipping and reading as he stops Zateus's attacks with his palm.
After this goes on for a while, Zalama gets tired of it and then simply flicks Zateus back. The mortal grunts, clutching his gut. "He's toying with me... This being is beyond my comprehension! I must settle this with one final attack."
He raises his hand and yells. "Divine Upheaval!" An electric white beam shoots out, hitting Zalama and seemingly vaporizing him. The warrior realizes what he's done and gasps, powering down. "I-I killed him!"
Suddenly, behind him, Zalama's particles reform back into his full body and he smirks at the shocked expression on Zateus's face.
"Interesting fighting style," he notes. "Perhaps you should create a technique specifically for that."
"Never mind me, how the hell did you do that?!" Zateus asks, bewildered. "That isn't normal!"
"One day, you'll know what it is," Zalama replies. "Now, I've seen all I need to see. Omesus relies too much on his brute force, which allowed me to decommission him almost immediately. However, you... You rely on your brains too much. Your movements are predictable and slow as if you're thinking of each move you need to make."
"But, isn't that the point, sir?" The mortal replies. "This is how I learned to fight growing up."
"You cannot overthink everything, young one," The dragon god says, walking away. "Try to move without thinking. Now, let's wake up Omesus. That punch knocked him out cold."
To Be Continued in Chapter Thirty-Eight
Zateus has been stripped of his position and reduced to a mere mortal with fake memories, and Zalama makes another appearance in this chapter! The backstory will soon reach its conclusion in the next couple of chapters!
