I have to admit, I'm very surprised by the support this idea got. I didn't know Danmachi had such a big following, but you all proved me wrong. Since you showed so much love for the initial chapter, I thought I'd treat you all with a follow on.
I hope you enjoy it.
A Naruto/Danmachi Crossover Idea
Baked Divinity
Part ll
"That will be 165 valis, please." Hestia thanked, taking the money in exchange for the half-dozen tray of doughnuts sitting on the counter. The young man in front of her wore a goofy expression with a blush dusting his cheeks. His eyes tried to remain on the face of the divine goddess, but they continued to try and wander down to her chest, "Thank you for your patronage. Please come again soon."
"Okay. Thank you, Lady Goddess." The young man's voice drew out the last part of the sentence, walking away with a lovestruck expression. Hestia merely watched him go with a pleasant smile on her face, having grown used to the silly mortals. Honestly, she could help but wonder if they were like this with her, then what were they like around a Goddess of Beauty? She'd yet to see Freya since arriving in the mortal world, but she'd heard the rumours. Adventurers were falling over themselves to join the Freya Familia. Not just because they held the title of the strongest Familia in Orario, but everyone, man and woman, wanted to be near the Goddess of Beauty. Even here, everyone was falling over themselves just for a glimpse of the silver-haired goddess.
For over a fortnight, she spent nearly every day coming to Uzumaki Bakery and working behind the counter. Though she wasn't keen to admit it, the work was more difficult than she initially thought. Hestia thought she would be serving behind the counter, taking the money and handing the customers their baked goods. She did all that, and in her opinion, she was good at it. But oh no. Naruto insisted she learned how to bake with him as her teacher.
Pffft baking. How hard could it be? Mix some flour with some milk and eggs. Hey, presto! You got yourself a cake!
It turned out it was very hard, but she had mastered the art of making cupcakes! She could make a mean cupcake! And apparently, her dainty hands were perfect for decorating.
Naruto, as it turned out, had been a lifesaver, and Hestia insisted on being the best employee she could be. She acted professional and treated their customers with kindness and understanding. She always arrived five minutes early. Helped him clean up after closing.
Model employee, thy name was Hestia.
Behind Hestia, the door to the kitchen area swung open, and her employer walked out with a tray of fresh brownies straight out of the oven and put them on the counter. The smell that radiated off them were so delicious Hestia nearly forgot she was an employee. She reached out to grab one and devour it in one go. However, before she could take one, another hand reached out and gently swatted it away.
"Ow!" The goddess pouted, sticking out her bottom lip, "Meanie."
"These are for the customers, Hestia. If there are any left at the end of the day, you're welcome to take a batch home with you." As per the agreement when she started working at Uzumaki Bakery, whatever was left and hadn't sold, the goddess was welcome to take home with her. Sometimes she went home with a few items, and other times she went home with a whole basket full of stuff. Since she started working, she hadn't gone hungry at all!
"Not even one?"
'Hmm," Naruto hummed to himself, picking up a tong and placing the brownies inside the cabinet for the customers to see, "There is one on the side that broke in half, so I can't put it out. If you-" He stopped talking when he noticed the door swung open and the goddess was already gone. He chuckled and shook his head, "Such a gluttonous goddess."
He couldn't help but wonder where it all went. For such a small goddess, she sure had a big appetite. Where did it all go?
Hestia walked out a moment later with chocolate crumbs covering the corners of her mouth and sprinkled across her cheeks, "Hmm, these are so good!" She let out a small squeal as she threw the last piece in her mouth, the taste of chocolate flowing over her sense of taste. Her hands shook in glee and swayed from side to side. Along the counter, Naruto couldn't help but laugh. If he didn't know she was a goddess, he'd have guessed she was a hyper kid.
Grabbing a napkin, he handed it to Hestia, who took it with a quick thanks and wiped the chocolate crumbs away from her face.
"Don't forget, your break is coming up in the next fifteen minutes." Naruto reminded. Looking up at the clock, it was a little past one in the afternoon. Every day, Hestia got a forty-five-minute break to enjoy whatever lunch she prepared for herself that day. Sometimes she stepped out and picked up food elsewhere, such as the jagamaru-kun stand a few streets over. The short goddess had a love for the potato croquettes.
"I won't. I can't wait to get out of these stuffy shoes!" She wiggled her toes inside the shoes and made a pouty face, "I still hate that you make me wear these. My poor toes feel all constricted."
The blonde gave her a look, "It's hygenic, and no one wants to smell your feet when they walk inside my bakery."
"I wear flip-flops!"
"That doesn't really solve the problem."
"Grrrrr." In response, Hestia blew a raspberry his way, and he could have sworn her twin tails were moving in conjunction with her arms. In return, he made a motion with his hand for her to shoo, and go back to the counter. The action got a growl from the goddess, but she did so. Though, not before knocking her two fists together in his direction. He could be so infuriating! Where was the nice young man she met during their first meeting?
Smoothing down the front of her apron, Hestia looked across the counter with a bright smile and towards her next customer, "Sorry for keeping you waiting. How can I serve you today?" She asked, before blinking in surprise at the person across from her and releasing an excited, "Hephaestus!"
"Hello, Hestia."
Naruto, having been midway from going back through the door that led to the kitchen, stopped, and found himself turning back towards the counter. He was about to put the finishing touches on some freshly baked doughnuts, but his curiosity won him over. Across from Hestia was a woman, who Naruto had to admit to himself, look more like a divine being than his employee did. She stood a little bit over average height, with a sharp face and slender frame. Her hair reached to the bottom of her neck in crimson waves and one eye the same colour. A black eye-patch covered the other side, leaving everything beneath hidden away. She dressed differently than the dark-haired goddess, being in a white dress shirt with the collar unfolded. Black pants covered her bottom half along with knee-length boots and wore elbow-length gloves across her arms.
Naturally, he'd heard of the Goddess, Hephaestus. It was hard not to have heard of the smithing goddess. Her Familia was famous across the world. They produced the best weapons and tools this world over and were one of the few Familia's in the world that didn't rely on income from the Dungeon. The members of her Familia produced weapons, armour and all kinds of equipment Adventurers needed to survive the hostile condition that sat in wait for them. They were one of the wealthiest Familai's in Orario and one of the most influential. He'd seen the emblem on many of the weapons carried by Adventurers whilst walking the streets. Though there were other smithing Familia's within Orario, she and her children were number one.
"It's so good to see you, Hephaestus! What brings you here today?"
"Oh, nothing much. A few of my children were telling me about this little bakery that just opened up," The red-haired goddess replied, her arms crossed against her chest, "Then they mentioned a petite and busty Goddess was working there, and I had to come and see for myself."
"Hehe, yep, that's me," Hestia admitted smiling, scratching the back of her head in slight embarrassment, "I've been working here for two weeks now. It's flown by so quickly, but I've learned so much!"
"That's good. It's nice to see that you're not sitting beneath that church basement I found for you, letting the days roll past doing nothing while Orario strives ever-forward." The lone eye belonging to the taller goddess shifted direction and stared at the tall blonde who on the other side of the counter with Hestia, "And this must be the young man who owns the bakery."
"I am. My name is Naruto Uzumaki. It's a pleasure to meet you." Naruto said, replying politely with his usual smile, and offered a small bow, "Welcome to Uzumaki Bakery. Any friend of Hestia is always welcome here."
Hephaestus politely nodded, "Thank you for having me. Though, I feel I must be the one to thank you for taking Hestia on. She can be a real problem goddess when she wants to be and has a lazy streak in her like no other. I almost tripped over my feet when I heard she got a job."
"Hey! I'm not that bad!"
"For the first six months after arriving in Genkai, you spent it lounging around my Familia's Manor, eating our food, drinking our liquor, and sleeping all day." Hephaestus gave Hestia a pointed look with a rather sassy-looking expression, "Which is what you did back in Tenkai."
Hestia grumbled but said little else. As much as she didn't like to admit it, Hephaestus wasn't wrong. The petite and busty goddess had developed a lazy streak. She should have had some more pep in her step when she arrived in the Genkai, but it was difficult to break old habits.
"I maybe could have been a bit more considerate." She replied, "I didn't mean to mooch off you."
"I know, and at least, you are trying to rectify your behaviour." The red-haired goddess held out her hand, "You have a job, money to your name, and a new friend. I'd say you're on the up and up."
"I guess, but no one still wants to join my Familia."
"It takes time to build a Familia, Hestia. Just give it time." Hephaestus reasoned, "You can't rush these things."
"Fine, I guess I can do that." The smaller goddess replied, trying not to let it get her down. She just wanted to show everyone she could be a great deity too. People like Hephaestus made it look easy. Even Loki, as much as she loathed to admit it, had proven to be a good leader, hence why her Familia was one of the strongest. She just needed to find the right people.
The Goddess turned and looked at Naruto, "Hey, Naruto! Do you want to be in my Familia?"
"No, thanks."
"At least think about it!"
The blonde chuckled and patted Hestia's head, "Sorry, Hestia, but I didn't come to Orario to become an Adventurer. Besides," His hand turned to the stump where his arm use to be, "I'm not sure a man with one arm would make a good first member. Thanks for offering." He turned his attention to Hephaestus, who stood quietly and felt her lone eye gazing at him, "I'm a baker, and since you're here, is there anything you like the look of in my humble bakery?"
The Goddess hummed as she leaned forward, her lone eye peering into the glass cabinet. Her original plan was to check up on Hestia and make sure her oldest friend was doing okay. However, being inside Uzumaki Bakery, the word of mouth she heard from her Familia appeared correct. The delightful smell of freshly baked bread and warm melted chocolate ticked her sense of smell like few things could. Since she was here, why not splurge a little, and take home some treats.
"I suppose I could. I have a small gathering to attend later with Demeter and Freya. Afternoon tea at the Demeter Familia's Home. I could take some treats with me."
"Sure, that sounds like a good idea. Do you see anything that takes your fancy?"
"A number of these baked goods looks good," Hephaestus said, though her eye continued to trail along until stopping at the end of the glass cabinet, "But I think I'll take some of these. I think these could go over well with the other ladies."
Naruto walked the cabinet on the other side and smiled, "Lemon Poppyseed Cupcakes with Blackberry Frosting. Good choice. Those have been very popular today. How many can I interest you in?"
"I think a dozen could be good. The other deities have a bit of a sweet tooth. If these are as good as they look, I think they'll go down very well." Naruto nodded and grabbed a pair of metal tongs. Careful picking them up, he placed them inside a box before sealing the top shut. To add some colour to the white container, the Goddess watched Naruto tie a red bow around it. It looked very fancy to the naked eye.
She was impressed, and it took a lot to impress the Goddess of one of Orario's top Familia's. It appeared Hestia lucked out with the young man. If they were as good as they smelled and appeared, then a few of the other deities living within these walls might pay the blonde a visit. The former residents of Tenkai were always on the lookout for a new plaything.
Exchanging the money to Hestia, who placed the coins into the register on the counter, the red-haired goddess turned towards the door, "It was nice to meet you, Naruto Uzumaki. Please continue to keep an eye on my wayward friend. I know first-hand how much of a pain she can be."
"I'm still here, you know!" Hestia frowned. Her cheeks were puffed out, reminding Naruto and Hephaestus of a chipmunk with too many walnuts stuffed in their cheeks. How rude!
Naruto smiled and placed his hand on top of the short goddesses head, ruffling it like an adult would a child, "I'll try my best." Hestia tried to bat his hand away with little success and glared at him like a puppy, "Saying that, she has proven herself to be a good little worker. I don't regret hiring her for a second."
"Moouuuuu don't say stuff like that, you blonde dummy!" With his kind words, Hestia's gloomy face did a one-eighty, now appearing proud of herself with her chin up high. That was just like Hestia. She walked on air every time someone praised her.
Yeah, Hestia was going to be just fine. This Naruto seemed like a good one.
"Phew, finally! I thought we were never going to finish!" Tiona spoke, walking down one of the many streets of the North-Western District of Orario. Her arms were behind her head, taking large, exaggerated-looking steps. Strapped to her back was a bag more than twice her height and four times as thick as her body. On a regular person without the grace of the gods bestowed upon them, the backpack would have crushed them. However, as a level five Adventurer and a member of the Loki Familia, and that meant she was one of the best there was. She could carry something twice as heavy as the bag, and it would be next to nothing for someone like her, "You think Ais and the others are back yet?"
To the right side of her, the elder Hiryute twin walked in tandem with her sister, though at a more leisurely pace with an identical-looking bag strapped to her back. A yawn escaped her mouth, trying and failing to cover it up with her hand.
"I don't know. Maybe?" Tione replied, "We've been out all afternoon. Dusk has already come and gone. I wouldn't be surprised. We'll probably be one of the last back."
"Oh, okay!" Tiona shrugged her shoulder, her ever-present smile still on her face, "Don't you think all this equipment is overkill? Isn't the Captain going overboard with all this stuff?"
A frown marred the face of the older twin, turning her head to face Tiona, "Nothing the Captain does is without reason, and he knows first hand how dangerous the Lower Floors can be. He's read the notes and journals left behind by the Zeus Familia so much he could quote them like he was there." The Loki Familia were a day away from another expedition, spearheaded by their Captain, Finn. Orario knew him as Braver. It wasn't the first expedition the twins had been on, but the work put in indicated its importance. The goal was to reach the safe zone on Floor Fifty One, and from there, push down to Level 59. If successful, it would be the furthest the Loki Familia ever delved into the Dungeon.
It was a mighty goal, but Loki Familia was one of the two Familia's in Orario that could pull it off.
The frown worn by Tione soon changed into a glare, "Don't doubt what the Captain orders us to do! He knows what he's doing. He's the best Captain a Familia could ask for!" The glare soon changed in a lovey-dovey expression. A tinge of red dusted her cheeks, "Not to mention the most handsome! And the most dependable! And the strongest!"
"There she goes again," Tiona muttered, sighing in amusement as her twin started rambling on about their Pallum Captain. Despite her words concerning the equipment they retrieved, the Amazon was excited to be involved in another expedition. Heading to the Lower Floors was the best way to test their metal against the stronger monsters the Dungeon had to offer. Not to mention, gain more excelia. She and Tione both became level five three years ago, and both felt they were gaining the ground on attaining level six. It was the same for Ais and Bete, though she had overheard a conversation between Riveria and Finn that Ais had hit a wall in her pursuit of levelling up. This expedition and the lower Floors were the best way for all of them to bridge the gap between them and Loki Familia's veteran trio.
Her excitement was palpable, though it didn't stop the seventeen-year-old Amazon from spotting a familiar mop of blonde hair stood in front of Dian Cect's Pharmacy. Her joy bloomed across her face and quickly left her elder twin in the dust as she raced over to greet him, leaving a confused Tione shouting out her name.
Thanks to her level five-speed, she reached him in no time and came to a skidding halt, kicking up a small cloud of dust in her arrival, "Hi Naruto! What are you doing here!?"
The blonde turned his head, blinking in surprise at the sudden arrival of the Amazon, before a smile wove it's way onto his face, "Hi, Tiona. I haven't seen you in a couple of days." He looked at the bag on her back, "Looks like you've been busy."
Tiona nodded her head, "My Familia is going on a big expedition tomorrow! So my sister and I were collecting some of the equipment our captain asked us to collect! We've been out all afternoon." With that, the elder Hiryute appeared next to her, frowning at her sister, before turning to look at Naruto. Naruto dressed casually compared to his usual appearance at the bakery, with his sleeve hanging loosely around his missing limb. A small box was in his hand, with a trace of cinnamon lingering in the air.
"So you're the one my sister has been talking about constantly. She says you make the best-baked goodies in all of Orario." A kind smile appeared on Tione's face, "I'm Tione, this idiot's sister. It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too." He looked at the bag Tione also carried, saying, "It must be a big expedition if you guys have so much."
"Really big! We're heading to the lower floors!" Tiona performed some air punches with a comically-serious expression, "That's where all the strong monsters dwell, so we're going to kick their butts."
Naruto's smile widened a fraction, "I have no doubt. Just don't go getting too over your head. I don't want to lose my best customer just a few weeks after opening."
"Aww, I bet you say that to everyone!"
"No, really. You're my best customer. You've dropped almost five thousand valis alone in the last two weeks. You're definitely in the lead."
"Oh!" A swift hand from the elder twin swatted the back of Tiona's head, "Ow!"
"Didn't I tell you to stop spending so much vali's in one place? You're supposed to be saving your money to pay off the loan for your Urga. Giobniu Familia won't be happy your spending all your money on treats."
The younger twin pouted while rubbing her head, "But it's all so good!" She couldn't help it! The doughnuts from Uzumaki bakery were too good to resist. Her stomach always overcame any reason she could come up with in her head. Putting all that to one side, Tiona tilted her head and stared back at Naruto, "So, what brings you to the North-Western District?"
Naruto hummed, "Nothing, really. I closed up the bakery for the day and thought I'd go for a walk through the city. There's still so much of Orario I haven't seen yet, so I thought I'd explore for a bit." He nodded his head to the pharmacy behind him, "I came across the pharmacy and got caught up with the stuff in the display window. It took me by surprise."
Both of the amazons looked into the display window. The pharmacy was owned by the Dian Cect Familia and leading Familia when it came to medical supplies and other related items. The large white marble building held enough rooms to treat patient, negotiate deals and sell their wears in, therefore becoming one of the cornerstone buildings throughout Orario. Hundreds of Adventurers visited every day, making them one of the richer Familai's by a wide margin. The Loki Familia had a good relationship with them, taking on requests for specific drop-items from the Dungeon.
The Dian Cect Familia were prominently medicinal, meaning it was rare for them to venture into the Dungeon.
Eyes trailing the display items behind the glass, it wasn't long before their eyes zeroed in on what must have garnered the blondes attention. A silver arm was front and centre in the window, a prosthetic meant for Adventurers who lost their limb in the Dungeon.
"Ahh." The twins said simultaneously. Their gaze flickered between the arm behind the glass and Naruto.
The blonde's smile turned sad and put the box in his grip down and ran his palm over the stump where his other arm used to be, "Yeah, it just got me thinking that's all. It's been three years since I lost it, but I sometimes still forget. Like when I wake up in the morning and try to reach out for the glass of water on my nightstand." Naruto took a deep breath, "It took me a while to adjust not having both arms, but sometimes it still gets to me, you know."
Sometimes, he got phantom pains from the stump. It wasn't often, but it happened. Apparently, the mind would glitch and forget the limb was no longer there, causing a phantom sensation as if the arm was still there. He adapted, but still.
"How did you lose it? Were you an Adventurer? And a monster took your arm?"
Naruto shook his head and Tione's question, "A monster? No, nothing like that. My best friend tried to stage a revolution and shape the world to his image. We fought in a battle that decided the fate of the world, and I won. He died, and I lost my arm in the process."
Both sister's blinked in surprise.
"Oh." By the expression on Tione's face, it wasn't the answer she was expecting. Nor did she believe a word of in that short explanation. The same, however, could not be said for her sister.
"Wow! That's amazing!" Tiona's eye sparkled as she looked up at the blonde, "You must be strong!"
Naruto laughed, "I'm pretty good if I say so myself. Then again, I'm a bit rusty. Plus," He motioned to his lack of a right arm, "I don't fight much these days. I'm happy being a baker."
"And a good one at that!" Tiona added, grinning at him.
"Thanks," Naruto replied. The trio went silent, and Tione couldn't help but look between the tall blonde and her sister. Both were smiling at one another, staring at the other with happiness clear on their faces. Come to think of it, her sister was practically crapping rainbows for the past couple of weeks, especially after coming home with a box full of baked goods. She thought the reason was for the delicious delicacies but now thought Tiona had an ulterior motive. A single eyebrow rose on her face, "I should get going. I don't want to keep you any longer with your big expedition tomorrow."
To both their surprise, he gently shook the white box in his hand and put it in Tiona's.
"Here. Why don't you take these."
"Huh?" Tiona and Tione looked at each other, with the elder Hiryute twin shuffling closer to her sister, leaning in as the younger one the lid. The strong scent of cinnamon washed over their sense of smell, and both found themselves looking at a few dozen cinnamon cookies piled high on top of each other. Each was about twice the size of a single valis, "B-But aren't these yours?"
Naruto shrugged, "I can make more when I get home. It's not too difficult to make. Think of it as a little going away treat before your big expedition."
Both Hiryute twins looked at him in surprise. Quickly, their expressions melted away and turned into looks of gratitude.
"That's very kind of you. We'll make sure to share these with the others in our Familia." Tione told him, her opinion of the blonde growing more positive by the moment. Hearing her sister giggling, the elder turned and watched in mild surprise as her sister looped an arm around Naruto's head and brought him down into a hug. His head rested on her chest, with his cheek touching the skin above her fabric-bound breasts. The action took him by surprise.
"You're the best! Thanks, Naruto!"
He let out a nervous laugh, feeling Tiona's fingers weave through the back of his hair. He couldn't help notice how soft her fingers were for someone who monsters for a living.
They stayed like that for a few moments before the Amazon finally let him go. Finding his bearings the trio said their goodbyes, with Naruto noting the amused expression on Tione's face after watching the interaction between him and her sister. As he left, he could have sworn he heard her mutter something to Tiona, resulting in a loud cry coming from the younger before both took off in a mad run. Joyous laughter came from the elder twin, while indignant babbling came from the younger.
Unbeknownst to the mortals that walked the streets of Orario, a pair of silver eyes was constantly grazing over their forms before finding interest in the one-armed shinobi that walked alone as he parted from the Amazon twins of the Loki Familia. They had been watching him for weeks now and honed in on him the moment every time her gaze found him. They couldn't look elsewhere.
"My goodness," A soft, melodic voice whispered to herself.
Standing from her throne, she walked towards the great window that overlooked Orario from Babel Tower and gently pressed the front of her body to the glass. Despite a great many people that crossed her gaze, none held her attention as he did.
"The colour of his soul is so beautiful." A short gasp escaped her mouth and unknowingly found her hand running against the side of her body, "It's so bright. It's like the sun fell from the sky, taking mortal form. I can't look away. How have I never seen him before?"
She bit the corner of her lip before a playful smile wove its way onto her perfect features. She always got like this when something new took her interest. It was a bad habit of hers. She couldn't look away once something grabbed her attention.
"I'm so greedy, but I just can't help myself." She watched the young man turned around, his eyes looking for something from behind, before leaning up to look at the tower she resided within. It felt as if their eyes were meeting, "I simply must have him."
Later that evening
The knock at his front door jolted him from his daze, letting out a low yawn as he stood up from his armchair in the corner of the room. The home Naruto purchased when he first arrived in Orario was nothing fancy, but it suited his needs. It was a little cottage on the outskirt of the south-west district with similar-looking houses all dotted the nearby area. Many of them belonged to retired Adventurers looking, small families, and market traders enjoying the quiet life the scenery offered. He got it for a steal. According to the guy he bought it from, the last owner and his girlfriend lived here but ended up destroying most of the inside when their relationship broke apart. He cheated, she found out and being Adventurers, the interior became a warzone. It was a real fixer-upper, but with his Shadowclones, it wasn't that difficult. Now, his little home was comfortable and cosy, which is what he wanted.
Crossing the room, he opened his front door and was surprised to find who was on his doorstep.
"Hestia?"
The short and busty goddess stood their uneasily and took note of the small suitcase in her grip. Dressed in her usual attire, she'd added a long beige coat that reached down to her knee's. An uneasy look was on her face, biting the inside of her cheek.
"Hi, Naruto. I'm sorry to be bothering you like this."
The blonde shook his head, "That's okay. Is everything alright?"
The goddess shook her head, kicking the ground with the edge of her flip-flop, "I kinda need a big favour. You can say no, and I'll understand." Naruto nodded and waited for the question to be asked, "Would it be okay if I came and stayed with you for a little while?"
"Come and live with me?" He repeated, surprise evident on his face, "What happened to the room beneath the church?" Despite how it sounded, the basement beneath the church was cosy. Naruto had seen it one evening when walking Hestia home after the deity stayed behind an extra few hours and helped him close the bakery for the night. It was far from perfect, but it was warm and provided a roof over her head.
"I'm not sure, but when I came back after my shift at the bakery ended, I found the church floor had collapsed and covered the basement in the rubble. There's now a big hole where the roof used to be." Hestia shuffled around on the spot, "I didn't really feel safe with it being so open. Anyone could walk in."
Her first thought was to visit Hephaestus and see if her old friend wouldn't mind putting her up again until she could find somewhere else to live. Now that she had a job and was putting a percentage of her valis away to save, she could afford to start renting a little apartment somewhere by herself. However, he still didn't have enough for that yet, and it wasn't a realistic option right now. She already mooched off Hephaestus for months. She didn't want to fall back into bad habits, nor did she want her oldest friend in the world to think she was trying to take advantage of her.
There were other gods she could have gone too that she had good relations with, but they had problems of the own. Takemikazuchi had only come to Orario in recent months along with his Familia. From what they made, a large part went back to support their shrine in the Far East. The other god, Miach, was drowning in debt. All which remained of his Familia was his Captain. She couldn't put him under more strain then already felt.
That left Naruto. She'd only known him for a couple of weeks, but she thought it was worth a try. If he said no, that was okay. It meant she would hav-
"Sure, come on in."
"Huh?"
Hestia's eye went wide in surprise, glancing up at the smile that looked down at her. Naruto opened the door and stepped to the side.
"R-Really? It's okay?"
"Of course. I'm not going to let my friend sleep on the streets when I've got a spare bed they can have." He explained and watched as she slowly walked inside with a dazed expression, "The room is kind of bare, but there's a bed, and the sheets are new and unused. We can get a wardrobe for you tomorrow if you like."
Hestia idly nodded as the front door gently closed with a soft click.
Slowly, her lips started to tremble, and it wasn't until she turned around and faced him did he notice the glazed look in her eyes. A sniffle broke from her body, and before Naruto could say a word, a small pair of arms wrapped themselves around his middle. A wet patch started forming on his shirt.
"You're such a good person! And I'm so glad we're friends! Thank you so much!"
Naruto blinked a few times, slightly taken aback by the outburst before laughing and returning the hug with his arm going around her slender shoulders.
"You're welcome. Anything to help a friend."
Thanks for reading. Please, let me know what you all thought.
