AUTHOR'S NOTE: Greetings, readers! Well, this is it, the 120th and final chapter as Tristan, Hillary, and Pikachu's unforgettable Johto journey finally comes to an end. I've had a blast writing this Fanfiction story, and I hope you've had a blast reading it, too. I decided to have a big storm come into the picture in this final chapter. And I decided to have Emmy and Max from our earlier chapters come into the mix one last time for an overnight sleepover as a sendoff for Tristan before he begins his next journey. I decided to have Hillary still feeling undecided about what she wants to do, so she will spend a few more days back at home in New Bark Town to hopefully make up her mind. I know I've had other things to deal with, but I'll continue to write when I can, and when the next Fanfiction story comes out, I hope you will continue to follow and favorite me. And I'll continue to improve as a writer. I decided to base part of the story on the Pikachu short Pikachu's Rescue Adventure. Some parts of this chapter may look like it, like the storm that Ash's Pikachu and its Pokémon pals had to deal with to save Togepi with the same music by Ralph Schuckett during the big thunderstorm in the short, but this involves an urban city with humans and Pokémon living in it. I had just learned that he had passed away in April 2021, so I figured that some of his music cues would come into the story as a tribute. And seeing that this is the last chapter of this story, I wanted to make the ending as epic as possible. I also decided to have the Pokémon: Master Quest theme: "Believe in Me" play at the end of the story. "Believe in Me" is composed by John Siegler. Lyrics are by John Siegler and John Loeffler. The artist is David Rolfe. I can't wait to get started writing my next Fanfiction story. As a reminder, I don't own Pokémon. Pokémon, Pikachu, and all other Pokémon character names are trademarks of Nintendo. As always, please feel free to read and review responsibly at your leisure.

TEASER: Tristan finally takes up Shen's suggestion and decides to go to the Hoenn region with Pikachu. So as a sendoff, Emmy and Max come for a playdate and a sleepover at Tristan and Hillary's house in New Bark Town. However, Tristan wants to spend time with Dragonite before he goes, making Lugia a little jealous. Could this put a strain on Tristan and Lugia's friendship? Then, a big storm threatens all of New Bark Town, and Lugia must believe in itself and do what all Lugia have been known to do in legend, and that's to calm that storm right down!

Chapter 120: ADVENTURES TO REMEMBER, PART 5

(Music Cue: Surf 1999-2001)

Our heroes are still in New Bark Town spending time with friends and family while going on a few exciting adventures. But today, Tristan will finally make up his mind and plan his next move.

It was a beautiful sunny morning in New Bark Town as Tristan and Hillary sat down to breakfast with their grandparents, Veronica and Eric, and their Pokémon, Pikachu and Togepi.

"This breakfast is better than yesterday's, Grandma," smiled Hillary. "Togepi seems to enjoy it, too."

Togepi trilled in agreement as it happily ate its food.

"Togepi isn't the only one," replied Tristan.

Sure enough, Pikachu was feeling very happy as it chowed down on some of the homemade Pokémon food Veronica whipped up.

"I'm so pleased to hear that everyone's enjoying it so much," smiled Veronica.

"You know, I've been thinking about Shen's suggestion about the Hoenn region for the past few days," said Tristan.

"Fill us in, dear," replied Veronica.

"After seeing Harrison's Kecleon and Blaziken in action at the Silver Conference, I've been curious about what other Pokémon are yet to be discovered," explained Tristan. "I didn't think there was much to learn about Pokémon after my journey in Johto was almost over. But after Shen heard about my experiences seeing those two Pokémon, he suggested that I travel to the Hoenn region to check them out, and I figured the best place to start would be in Littleroot Town where Aunt Amy and Uncle Greg live. So I've decided that the next part of my journey will be in the Hoenn region."

"That's wonderful news, dear," smiled Veronica. "Aunt Amy and Uncle Greg will be very happy to know that you've decided to go there, and will be pleased to see you."

"Yes, grand-sonny, that's great," added Eric. "Setting your sights on the Hoenn region and seeing many brand-new Pokémon will expand your horizon much more. Maybe you'll even be able to catch some of them."

"Yeah! I can't wait!" replied Tristan.

Hillary then gave a sigh.

"What's wrong, sis?" asked Tristan.

"I still don't know what I want to do," answered Hillary. "I mean, I'm glad I've got my own Pokémon and all, but I feel like I've been a burden on your journey sometimes."

"You haven't been a burden at all," replied Tristan. "In fact, you've been a big help on my journey. I'd be lost without you. And you've gained some valuable experience from competing in many tournaments along the way."

"Don't worry, Hillary," Veronica assured her. "There's still plenty of time to figure out what you want to do. And you can stay and play with Silveena to help you make up your mind. Maybe you could help her build a nice, warm nest for her in the shed while you decide."

"A nest? But why?"

"I'm sure Lugia and Silveena could use a little help starting a family, since they're finally together and living with us."

Hillary felt better after that. "Thanks, Grandma. I'll do that. And soon, I'm gonna figure out what my dream will be. And I know I'll make it come true."

"Yeah, that's the spirit," said Tristan. "Whatever dream you will have, you're gonna get there."

Hillary nodded in agreement. Tristan and Veronica's words of encouragement helped her feel proud of all the accomplishments she had on her journey with Tristan.

Presently, the video phone rang.

"Excuse me, kids," said Veronica. "I'll be right back." And she walked into the next room.

"So, Tristan, what are you going to do when you get to Littleroot Town?" asked Hillary.

"I'll plan to stop and see Aunt Amy and Uncle Greg first," answered Tristan. "And I can't help but wonder how our cousins, Wayne, Marc, and Lisa are doing.

"And I've heard that there's a Pokémon lab there, too," added Eric. "That lab's run by Professor Birch."

"Who's Professor Birch?" wondered Tristan.

"He's this professor who loves to get out and do fieldwork," explained Eric. "One minute he'll be out in the field discovering Pokémon behavior, and the next, he'll come up with some new discovery."

"Sounds like fun," replied Tristan.

"Kids!" called Veronica as she came back into the room. "Emmy and Max's mother just called. She's going on a little business trip and asked if we could take care of them for the night. It might be a great sendoff for Tristan."

"A sleepover? With Emmy and Max? Yes, I'm in!" said Hillary excitedly.

"Sure, I'm all for it," added Tristan. "I've been wanting to see them again before I start my new journey."

Pikachu and Togepi were obviously excited.

"Great, I'll tell their mom that it's okay," smiled Veronica as she quickly made her way back to the video phone. "Yes, it's all right with us. We'll take care of them."

"Thank you, Veronica," replied Emmy and Max's mother. "They're going to have a great time together."

(Music Cue: Route 29 (as heard at the beginning of "Forest Grumps"))

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.

"Well, that was fast," Veronica said as she opened the door, and sure enough, there were Emmy and Max wearing their backpacks, and their mother was with them. "Hello, kids."

"Hi!" replied Emmy and Max together.

"Please, come in," smiled Veronica. "Tristan and Hillary are upstairs waiting for you."

Emmy and Max entered and went upstairs to find them.

"Thanks so much for letting Emmy and Max spend the night with you," said their mother. "They told me all about your wonderful grandchildren, They were a tremendous help to them on their visit to Blackthorn City."

"Thank you for the kind words," replied Veronica. "Tristan and Hillary will be so pleased to hear it. I hope your trip goes well for you."

Tristan and Hillary were upstairs in his room figuring out what they wanted to do first with Emmy and Max when suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," said Tristan.

The door opened.

"Hi, guys!" smiled Emmy.

"Remember us?" added Max.

Tristan and Hillary were delighted. "Emmy and Max!"

"We're so glad you were able to come," said Hillary.

"We heard that you were starting a new journey, Tristan," explained Emmy. "Our Mom was going out of town, too, so we wanted to stop by and have a sleepover to help you get ready."

"And we wanted to play with your Pokémon, too," added Max. "Please, may we?"

"I don't see why not," replied Tristan. "What do you say, sis? Shall we head to the backyard."

"You betcha!" agreed Hillary. "Come on, let's go!"

Pikachu and Togepi excitedly agreed.

"Come on out, everyone!" called Tristan as he tossed his Poké Balls into the air.

Tristan's Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Tyranitar, and Dragonite emerged from the white light.

"You heard him, guys, now you join the fun, too!" added Hillary as she tossed hers into the air.

Hillary's Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Lapras, Pichu, and Larvitar emerged from the white light that shot out of it.

"Wow!" said Emmy excitedly. "That's a cool collection of Pokémon."

"Yeah," agreed Max. "You have so many." Then he saw Tristan's Dragonite. "Whoa! Is that Dragonite the same shy Dratini we saw before in Blackthorn City?"

"It sure is," replied Tristan. "And you won't believe how fast and strong it's become since evolving."

Hillary's Larvitar became a bit shy toward all the Pokémon.

"There's no need to be nervous," said Hillary comfortingly. "These are all our friends here. Everyone, this is Larvitar, my newest Pokémon. Say hi to the gang, Larvitar."

Everyone greeted Larvitar warmly.

Lugia and Silveena came out of the shed.

Look, Lugia, it's our friends Emmy and Max! said Silveena excitedly.

Yes, I see, replied Lugia. How have you two been?

"We've been great," answered Emmy.

"And we came for a sleepover at Tristan's house to help him get ready for his new journey in the Hoenn region," added Max.

"We offered to look after them overnight while their mother goes on a quick business trip," put in Tristan.

That's very nice, smiled Silveena. It'll be a great sendoff for Tristan.

Presently, Dragonite nudged against Tristan asked him for something.

"What's up, Dragonite?" asked Tristan.

"Hey, I know," said Emmy. "I think Dragonite wants to take you for a ride in the sky."

"A ride with Dragonite?" Tristan was a little surprised. Then he got excited. "Of course, I'd be happy to come along."

"I guess Dragonite's been wanting to fly with Tristan ever since it evolved, and it felt that it never had the chance to show him," put in Hillary.

"All right, are you ready, Pikachu?" asked Tristan.

(Music Cue: Route 38 (full version))

Pikachu nodded excitedly and hopped on Tristan's shoulder as he climbed on Dragonite's back.

"Okay, Dragonite, we're ready for takeoff!" said Tristan excitedly.

Dragonite gave a howl, made a short run, spread its wings, and took off into the air like a jet, flying around and around in circles.

"Whoa, talk about fast!" exclaimed Hillary.

"Yeah, I think it's gotten even faster since yesterday!" added Max.

"Well, what are we just standing here for? Come on, we've gotta try and join Tristan and Dragonite in the fun!" said Emmy.

Then let's catch them by air! suggested Lugia. Emmy and Max, you can ride with me.

And Hillary, it'll be you and me, added Silveena.

"That's great, but what about the other Pokémon?" wondered Hillary.

Don't worry, we'll be close by, Silveena assured her. They'll be able to see us, and we'll see them as they play with each other.

"All right, let's go!" said Hillary excitedly as she and Togepi climbed on Silveena.

Lugia and Silveena spread their wings, and together, they quickly took off into the air to catch up with Dragonite.

"Hey, guys," smiled Tristan. "Wanna have a quick race?"

I was hoping you'd say that, Tristan, replied Lugia. But don't you want to ride with me first?

"Don't worry, Lugia, you'll get your chance," said Tristan. "I just want to spend time with Dragonite before I do. Come on, guys, let's get ready!"

"Ready, set, go!" shouted Emmy, Max, and Hillary together.

And together, they raced through the sky at breakneck speed all over New Bark Town as Veronica and Eric watched from the house.

"Well, they're sure having fun," smiled Veronica.

"They sure are, dear," agreed Eric. "Having extra kids visit us only adds to the fun. It reminds us of when we were their age."

"Now let's go even faster," suggested Tristan. "Go, Dragonite, ExtremeSpeed!"

And Dragonite instantly glowed in a silver aura and flew at remarkable speed, going even faster than Lugia and Silveena.

Hey, wait up! called Lugia.

Hang on, everyone, we're going faster too, added Silveena as she and Lugia increased their flying speeds to the max.

Lugia and Silveena went as fast as they could, but Dragonite was too fast, and they couldn't catch up. Again and again, they tried, but to no avail.

Everyone was having fun flying high and fast in the air as the Pokémon happily played together and watched them.

Hillary, Emmy, and Max all took turns flying with Tristan on Dragonite.

But even though Lugia was happy to fly along with them, it felt a little despondent, and nobody seemed to notice.

Everyone had lunch and resumed playing together. Then Several hours later, everyone was ready for a rest.

"Wow, that was fun," said Tristan. "Thanks for the ride, Dragonite."

Dragonite happily nodded and nudged against Tristan to show its affection.

"This is a great way to help me prepare for our new journey together. Right, Pikachu?"

Pikachu happily agreed with him.

"We thought you'd like that," replied Emmy.

"Yeah, flying on Dragonite was super-cool!" added Max.

"I'm gong to get some materials ready to make Silveena's new nest in the shed," said Hillary. "Come on, Silveena, wanna help?"

I'll do more than that because we'll help each other, agreed Silveena.

And Hillary and Silveena went over to the shed to start planning.

"We'll help, too!" said Emmy and Max together as they followed Hillary and Silveena.

"Okay, I'll go in Grandma's kitchen and help make dinner!" called Tristan.

A moment later, Lugia slowly landed on the ground next to Tristan and Pikachu.

"Hi, Lugia!" smiled Tristan. "Wanna have some dinner with us?"

But Lugia just sadly went away to the shed.

"That's weird," said Tristan. "I wonder why Lugia's feeling blue."

Pikachu was concerned, too.

(Music Cue: Drama (full version as heard in the 4Kids dub))

Lugia poked its long neck into the shed and saw Hillary, Togepi, Emmy, Max and Silveena hard at work.

All the Pokémon were helping them when they saw Lugia approach.

"Hi, Lugia, what's up?" asked Hillary.

Lugia just gave a sigh.

"Would you like to help us make Silveena's nest?" suggested Emmy. "It'll be your nest too, you know."

No, thanks, sighed Lugia.

"What's wrong, Lugia?" asked Max. "Why do you look so sad?"

Well, I don't mean to sound unappreciative, replied Lugia, but I felt everyone was ignoring me today.

"Ignoring you? How come?" wondered Emmy.

Well, everyone seemed so much more interested in Dragonite than in me today, Tristan and Pikachu especially, explained Lugia. He didn't even want to fly with me like he always does. I can fly fast too, but not as fast as his Dragonie does, and I feel as if my friendship with him doesn't mean as much to him as he thought it did.

Hillary then had a thought. "Are you feeling jealous, Lugia?"

Jealous? What's that?

"It means that someone seems to be paying attention more to someone's successes, like Dragonite evolving and increasing its speed, for example," explained Hillary. "But I also couldn't help but ask you this question: Are you by chance feeling hurt?"

Hurt? If you mean injured, I'm perfectly fine.

"No, I mean a different kind of hurt, on the inside."

Well, I do feel sad because I was ignored, replied Lugia. I felt like I was being left out of the fun today. A tear fell out of Lugia's eye.

Hillary, Emmy, and Max looked at each other.

"We must've hurt Lugia's feelings for flying with Tristan on his Dragonite," said Emmy.

"And we ignored Lugia at the same time," added Max. "And none of us knew it."

"We're really sorry, Lugia," said Hillary. "We didn't mean to ignore you."

I know you didn't, replied Lugia. It's just that I was looking forward to sharing this special time with all of you before Tristan's new journey begins, and I offered to take him to the Hoenn region once he was ready.

"I'm sure Tristan will realize his mistake sooner or later," said Emmy.

"And we're glad you told us why your feelings were hurt," added Hillary. "We'll be sure to talk to Tristan and explain the situation."

Thanks, guys, smiled Lugia. I do feel a little better now. Let's start building the nest.

I'm with you, agreed Silveena.

"Come on, let's do it!" said Max excitedly.

Meanwhile, inside the house, Tristan had just finished helping his grandmother fix dinner for everyone. "This'll be great!" he said. "Everyone's gonna love it."

Veronica was about to nod in agreement when she suddenly heard a newscaster reading a weather bulleting on television. She and Tristan quickly rushed over to get a better listen.

"There is a big storm quickly headed east to New Bark Town," said the newscaster. "This storm will have much dangerous lightning with loud thunder, heavy rain, and lots of strong winds. It will reach New Bark Town in approximately 10 minutes. Residents are strongly encouraged to secure outdoor objects and go indoors as soon as possible, as this is a very dangerous storm with heavy damage possible."

(Music Cue: Windy (full version as heard in the English dub of "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure"))

As he spoke, video footage of tidal waves could be seen near Olivine City's port. Then there was footage of trees nearly toppling over by the strong winds followed by footage of constant lightning.

"This is bad," Veronica said to herself as she and Tristan rushed over to Eric. "Eric, a big storm will be here in less than ten minutes."

"Okay, grand-sonny, you need to get the kids and your Pokémon and get them in the house," advised Eric. "This storm could be the nastiest we've seen in months."

"Got it, Grandpa," replied Tristan as he and Pikachu rushed outside to warn Hillary, Emmy, and Max. As he hurried outside, he saw the skies already darkening up and winds picking up speed, causing the tree branches to sway. "I was afraid of this." And he quickly made his way to the shed. "Everyone, you've gotta get in the house. There's a nasty storm coming this way, It's pretty bad, and it's closing in fast."

"Okay," replied Hillary. "Emmy, Max, we've gotta go." And she scooped up Togepi as her Pokémon followed her.

But what about my nest, Hillary? wondered Silveena.

"Never mind, we'll build it later!" called Hillary as she took out her Poké Balls. "Everyone, return!"

And Hillary's Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Larvitar, Lapras, and Pichu were recalled safely inside their Poké Balls.

Just then, the wind picked up speed again, causing everyone to cover their faces.

"Quick, Tristan, get your Pokémon inside their Poké Balls too!" shouted Hillary.

"Right!" agreed Tristan as he took out his Poké Balls. "Return, everybody!"

And Tristan's Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Tyranitar, and Dragonite were all safely recalled back into their balls.

Everyone made their way to the house as fast as they could.

Lugia and Silveena watched them with concern.

It was then that the winds kicked up, lightning flashed, and the thunder began to boom. Seconds later, it started to rain heavily.

"Oh, thank goodness, you all made it inside," sighed Veronica. "I was worried about you kids for a while."

"And just in time, too," added Tristan. "We almost got drenched out there."

Hillary came to Tristan and said, "Tristan, I noticed that Lugia felt left out earlier today because we weren't flying with it."

"What?! Oh, no!" Tristan could hardly believe his ears. At first he was shocked, but then he felt sorry. "No wonder Lugia felt so sad and dejected earlier. This is all my fault. I should've paid more attention to it."

"All of us are to blame, Tristan," replied Hillary. "Besides, we all wanted to play with Dragonite today, not just you."

"Yeah, that's right," added Max. "There's no reason to blame yourself for what we all did."

"So it's nobody's fault, then," put in Eric.

But Tristan knew he had to do something to make it up to Lugia no matter how bad things got outside. "I'm going back out there. I have to tell Lugia I'm sorry and let it know how much our friendship has always meant to us!" And he and Pikachu started back outside.

"No, Tristan, it's too dangerous!" shouted Hillary.

But Tristan had already opened the door, letting in big bursts of wind and rain before he was able to close it again.

"Grandma, isn't there anything we can do to help him?" asked Hillary impatiently.

"I'm afraid it's too dangerous for us to even try to help him," answered Veronica sadly. "Let's just hope Tristan can handle it on his own until the wind dies down."

"I'm sure he can handle it, Veronica," Max assured her. "He taught Emmy and me about bravery and never giving up while we were visiting Aunt Clair in Blackthorn City."

"Definitely," agreed Emmy. "And if I know Tristan, he won't let anything stand in his way, not even strong winds like that."

Just then, a big flash of lightning lit up the sky that was instantly followed by a loud crack of thunder, causing everyone inside to jump.

"Whoa, I sure hope Tristan wasn't blasted by that lightning strike," said Veronica worriedly.

"Me too, Veronica, me too," agreed Eric.

The newscaster on television was heard saying, "The big storm has already arrived in New Bark Town with lots of wind, rain, and lightning, stretching itself for miles and causing untold amounts of damage elsewhere. People in the Kanto region are next in line for this dangerous storm. Be prepared for what may be one of the most damaging storms we've seen in years...unless, by some miracle, the storm magically disappears."

Outside, Tristan and Pikachu were struggling against the hurricane-force winds as the rain battered down on them.

I've just gotta get to Lugia before it's too late, thought Tristan. I caused this to happen. I promised Lugia that we'd always be friends, and I broke that promise. I'm gonna make it up to Lugia if it's the last thing I do.

Just then, Silveena looked out of the shed and saw them moving slowly as she pointed out. Lugia, look! Someone's trying to brave the storm!

Lugia looked out at Tristan and Pikachu, gasping in shock. That's Tristan and Pikachu! They can't survive out here in this! They have to get back in the house so they can be safe from the lightning!

But Tristan and Pikachu kept on going despite the wind and rain battering them.

Suddenly, a huge bolt of lightning descended from the clouds and headed straight toward them!

(Music Cue: Teamwork (full version as heard in the English dub of "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure"))

Watch out! cried Lugia.

Everyone inside the house watched with horror as the lightning bolt closed in.

Quickly, Pikachu jumped in front of Tristan and unleashed a Thunderbolt attack to protect him from the lightning. Again and again, the lightning bolts came crashing down from the sky, but Pikachu managed to block every one of them.

Just then, Hillary and Veronica came out of the house and each took out a Poké Ball.

"Ready, Hillary?" asked Veronica.

"Ready, Grandma," answered Hillary.

"Jolteon, help Tristan and Pikachu!" commanded Veronica.

"Pichu, you, too!" added Hillary.

Jolteon and Pichu both emerged from the white lights that shot out of the Poké Balls and unleashed their Electric attacks to help Pikachu combat the lightning.

Tristan turned around to see Hillary and Veronica on the front porch.

"There's strength in numbers," smiled Veronica.

"A team united will always win," added Hillary.

"Thanks, guys, you're awesome," replied Tristan.

Suddenly, the biggest lightning bolt yet came crashing out of the sky straight down at them.

"Thundershock!" cried Hillary.

"Thunderbolt!" shouted Tristan.

"Thunder!" commanded Veronica.

Pichu, Pikachu, and Jolteon all unleashed their Electric attacks at the lightning bolt, successfully blocking and diverting it.

But another big lightning bolt struck a nearby tree, bursting it into flames.

Just then, Emmy, Max, and Eric came out of the house.

"Look, a fire!" gasped Max.

"That lightning blast must've caused it!" added Emmy.

"Then let's put out the fire first," suggested Veronica as she took out another Poké Ball. "Come on out, Vaporeon!"

"Feraligatr, I choose you!" shouted Tristan as he threw his Lure Ball.

"You go, too, Squirtle!" added Hillary as she threw her ball.

Vaporeon, Feraligatr, and Squirtle emerged from the white lights that shot out of them.

"Squirtle, Water Gun!" ordered Hillary.

"You, too, Vaporeon!" added Veronica.

"Feraligatr, Hydro Pump!" commanded Tristan.

Squirtle, Vaporeon, and Feraligatr all unleashed powerful blasts of water from their mouths at the flaming tree, successfully putting out the fire.

"Yes, we did it!" said Tristan excitedly.

But the celebration was short-lived, for the biggest gusts of wind picked up, causing Hillary, Togepi, and Pichu to get lifted by them.

"Aah! Help me!" cried Hillary.

"I've got you, Hillary!" shouted Tristan as he grabbed her by her legs.

"Are you sure about that?" bellowed Hillary as the wind blew harder and harder. "You're not just pulling my leg, are you?"

But suddenly, Tristan felt himself and Hillary begin to get lifted by the wind. "Meganium, Vine Whip!" he shouted as he struggled and succeeded in throwing his Friend Ball.

Meganium emerged from the white light that shot out of it and unleashed a pair of green vines from the petals around its neck, successfully grabbing on to his legs.

"Quick! Grab onto the vines!" bellowed Tristan.

"Okay, everyone, you heard what he said," agreed Veronica.

Everyone grabbed onto Meganium's vines and began to pull as hard as they could. But as hard as they pulled, the winds proved the task to be extremely difficult.

Presently, Lugia came out of the shed. It had seen everyone struggling against the wind. This is bad. The winds are blowing my friends away.

Tristan had seen Lugia emerge from the shed. "Lugia, you have to help us!"

But how? asked Lugia. I've never seen a storm this powerful before.

"You can calm it down right here!" bellowed Tristan. "All Lugia have the ability to calm storms like this one, and your mother was able to stop one when we were in big trouble out at sea one time!"

Lugia was surprised. It had never been told this information before. She did that? Really? Wow! But what if I can't do it?

"You can do it, Lugia!" insisted Tristan. "I believe in you! But you have to believe in yourself!"

He's right, thought Lugia. I may have never done something this important before, but if Tristan says I can do it, then I have to try. Here goes nothing! And with that, Lugia quickly flew up into the stormy sky and flew in circles, glowing in a green aura as it went.

"Look, it's working!" cried Emmy. "The winds are starting to grow weaker!"

"Yeah, go, Lugia!" put in Max.

Sure enough, the winds were starting to die down, but they were still very strong, and the rain was still falling heavily.

"Just a little more, everyone!" encouraged Veronica. "Don't give up! We can do this!"

Everyone continued to pull on Meganium's vines in an effort to keep Tristan and Hillary from blowing away in the wind.

The winds slowly grew calmer and calmer.

Eventually, everyone was able to pull Meganium's vines, allowing Tristan and Hillary to descend safely back on the ground.

"We did it together," smiled Eric.

"Phew!" sighed Veronica. "That was a close one. Are you two okay?"

"We are now," answered Hillary.

"It's all thanks to Lugia," said Tristan.

"Actually, Tristan," corrected Veronica, "it's all thanks to teamwork."

"Grandma's right," smiled Hillary. "We did it together. But that wind totally blew me away."

Everyone couldn't help but laugh at Hillary's joke when suddenly...

"Look!" gasped Emmy as she pointed up to the sky.

Sure enough, the winds calmed down, the rain stopped, the skies cleared up, the sun came out, and there was Lugia flying overhead.

"It's a miracle," smiled Veronica as she and Eric put their arms on each other's shoulders. "The storm completely disappeared."

Tristan smiled as he looked up toward Lugia in the sky. I knew you could do it, Lugia. You stopped the storm and saved us, but it isn't just us. You saved all of New Bark Town. I'm very proud of you.

A little while later, Tristan and Lugia stood in front of the house and looked at each other as everyone else looked on.

"Thank you, Lugia, I don't know what to say," Tristan began. He bent his head low. Then he looked up toward Lugia again and said, "I'm really sorry. I was very inconsiderate today. I was so excited to fly with Dragonite that I hardly paid attention to you. You probably felt so sad, neglected, and lonely. I felt so bad about hurting your feelings that I just had to try to reach you through the storm."

Lugia said, You braved the storm just for me? Tears of happiness came to Lugia's eyes. You really do care.

"Well, I can understand if you don't want to be my friend anymore," said Tristan sadly.

What are you talking about? replied Lugia. Of course I still want to be your friend, and I always will be, no matter how big the disagreement. Why don't we just put the past behind us? And if you're really sorry, the best thing we can do right now is to forgive, and forget that it ever happened. Let bygones be bygones, as humans would put it.

Tristan nodded and sighed. "I am sorry. And you're offering something that can never be taken away...and that's our friendship." And he and Pikachu happily ran to Lugia, and they embraced.

Everyone proudly looked on.

"That's great," said Hillary. "It looks like Tristan and Lugia are making up."

"That's good news," smiled Veronica. "They'll be able to pick up where they left off."

"Definitely," agreed Emmy.

Suddenly, Tristan's Silver Wing began to glow, and then it shot a bright beam into the sky.

"Whoa!" gasped Tristan. "What's the deal with my Silver Wing?"

"Looks like it's pointing to something," replied Eric.

"Look!" exclaimed Max as he pointed up.

And sure enough, there was a rainbow high in the sky with a multi-colored Pokémon flying over it.

"It's Ho-Oh!" gasped Hillary.

Sure enough, it was Ho-Oh, who had created the rainbow as it continued to fly through the sky.

Silveena came out of the shed just in time to see it. It must've seen you and Lugia make up, and made the rainbow just for you. And it reminds us of the joys of being together.

"You know, Silveena, I think you're right," replied Tristan.

Now that that's over, said Lugia, who'd like to go on one last ride through the sky before Tristan's new journey begins?

"We do!" everyone said.

That evening, Tristan, Pikachu, Veronica, and Eric rode on Lugia while Hillary, Togepi, Emmy, and Max flew with Silveena.

"This is great," said Tristan. "Sunny skies, calm winds, and no storm clouds to slow us down anymore."

"You said it, grand-sonny," agreed Eric.

"And we're doing it with one of the best flyers AND swimmers of all," added Veronica.

"Lugia!" everyone else said.

Lugia had to smile. It hadn't received such praise ever since it saved Ed at Whirl Camp quite some time ago.

"You should be proud, too, Silveena," said Hillary. "You were afraid to let us ride with you, but now you're able to do it with no problem."

It's all thanks to you and your friends, replied Silveena. I couldn't have conquered that fear without you.

And thanks to you...all of you, we've learned so much about each other, added Lugia. And we all grew stronger together because of it. And Silveena and I can finally start a family together.

"All right, let's hear it!" cried Tristan excitedly.

"Three cheers for Lugia and Silveena!" added Hillary as she and everyone else cheered, "Hip-hip..."

"Hooray!"

"Hip-hip..."

"Hooray!"

"Hip-hip..."

"HOORAY!"

That night, after a great dinner, and after everyone else had gone to bed for the night, Tristan and Pikachu were lying in bed, thinking about their new journey.

"Well, Pikachu, we leave for the Hoenn region first thing in the morning right after Emmy and Max leave," whispered Tristan. "It sure would be nice to spend more time here at home. But when you're a Pokémon Trainer, you just don't want to stop."

Pikachu whispered in agreement.

"It sure would've been nice for Hillary to come with us," continued Tristan. "But she's going to be a big help to Lugia and Silveena when she finishes helping them build the nest. I know she'll make up her mind and journey with us again soon."

Pikachu quietly nodded in agreement.

"Well, goodnight, Pikachu," said Tristan as he gently stroked it. And he and Pikachu closed their eyes and fell fast asleep.

Early the next morning, Emmy and Max's mother came to pick her children up. "Thank you so much for taking care of Emmy and Max," she said.

"It was no problem at all," replied Veronica. "We had great adventures together, and we didn't have to go anywhere."

"That storm was a whopper," added Eric. "But we all survived."

"Thanks for inviting us to play with you, guys," said Max.

"Good luck with making Lugia and Silveena's nest, Hillary," added Emmy. "And Tristan, I wish you success on your new journey in the Hoenn region."

"Thanks," replied Tristan and Hillary together. "We'll do our best."

"Pikachu and Togepi agreed with them.

Emmy and Max's mother started up her car and drove away.

"Goodbye!" called Tristan and Hillary together as they waved.

Presently, Veronica and Eric came outside.

"Well, Tristan, here you are," said Veronica. "Your backpack's ready with fresh new supplies."

"Cool, thanks a lot, Grandma," replied Tristan.

"I can't believe you're going on a brand-new adventure," said Eric. "It feels like you went on this journey only yesterday."

"True, but there'll always be a new adventure tomorrow," smiled Tristan.

Everyone chuckled at the remark Tristan made.

"Hey, Grandma, did you tell Professor Oak that I was sending my other Pokémon to him?" asked Tristan. "I want to try and start my journey fresh and raise more new Pokémon that I meet and catch in the Hoenn region."

"I already have, dear," answered Veronica. "Professor Oak is going to be very happy to see them."

Tristan then turned to Hillary and said, "Well, sis, this is it."

"Are you sure you'll be okay without me, Tristan?" asked Hillary.

"Sure," answered Tristan. "I promise I'll be fine. Pikachu and Lugia will be with me."

"As soon as I build the nest and Lugia comes back to help Silveena, I'll come out and journey with you again," promised Hillary.

"Okay," agreed Tristan as he and Hillary embraced.

"We're all going to miss you," said Veronica as she and Eric hugged Tristan. "Be safe, dear, and please tell Aunt Amy and Uncle Greg your grandfather and I say hello."

"Good luck, grand-sonny," added Eric. "And no matter what, always do your best."

"I will," promised Tristan.

Lugia watched from nearby. It's always tough when people have to say goodbye. But I know that we're all going to be back together again someday soon. It then walked over to Tristan and Pikachu and lowered itself toward the ground. Well, Tristan, what do you say? Are you ready to go?

"You bet I am," replied Tristan as he and Pikachu climbed onto Lugia.

Then Lugia raised itself to its full height and said, I'll be sure to take good care of Tristan and Pikachu while they're with me.

Veronica, Eric, Hillary, and Silveena all nodded in agreement.

"Let's go!" cried Tristan excitedly.

Lugia spread its wings and flew up into the air, circling around and around above the house as Tristan and Pikachu waved goodbye to Hillary, Togepi, Silveena, Veronica, and Eric.

Then off they went leaving New Bark Town behind, and Hillary and the others waved back until they were out of sight.

No time to question my moves
I stick to the path that I choose
Me and my friends are gonna do it right
You'll never see us run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream
All I've got to do is believe

(And I believe!)

I've got a chance to win
I'm on my way to victory
(Pokémon!)
I can be a Champion if I just believe
I'm on a Master Quest
(Master Quest)
I want the whole world to see
(And I believe!)
I'm gonna be the very best
'Cause all I've got to do is believe in me

(music continues)

"You know, guys," said Tristan, "I had a fun time traveling around the Johto region, meeting new friends and battling lots of really strong Trainers. Not to mention, I met up with Lugia. Now that was one of my favorite parts."

Pikachu agreed. It enjoyed adventures as much as Tristan did. And it was excited to be part of Tristan's newest adventure.

I thought the adventures we went on together were fun, too, replied Lugia. I'll never forget all those times you helped me out.

"Yeah," agreed Tristan as he fondly thought back on the many adventures he had with Hillary, Pikachu, and Lugia.

(And I believe!)

He thought back to when he helped Chikorita overcome its fear of humans in Professor Elm's lab, and had formed a strong bond in the process.

(Pokémon!)

Then he remembered the time Hillary and her Cyndaquil first met.

(Master Quest)
I want the whole world to see

Next he thought back to when Hillary participated in various tournaments.

Hillary had won a few and lost a few, but became a better person because of it.

Then, Tristan remembered the time he saw Lugia and Silver hatch from the two eggs on Ogi Isle, and later, how he safely caught Lugia in his arms after it went through a nasty nosedive. Next, he remembered the time he saw Lugia grow in just two days. He and Lugia had gone on their first flight together and it used Aeroblast for the very first time to defeat Team Rocket.

Finally, he remembered Whirl Camp and all the Legendary Pokémon friends he and Hillary met before thinking back to his Gym battles and his time at the Silver Conference, and how he was able to achieve the Best Eight.

Me and my friends are gonna do it right
You'll never see us run away from a fight

And so, Tristan and Pikachu leave the comforts of New Bark Town and the Johto region behind, and fly off with Lugia toward the Hoenn region, where new exciting adventures await!
