Chapter 31
Jodi was sitting on the back terrace with her mom and her girls. She was having a wonderful time just watching them all interact, when her phone rang.
"Hey Stevie. What's up?"
"Jodi! I need help! I need you and Tess to come to Wilgul. I lost Jaz's National Championship ring! I'm hiding in her back garden, but she thinks I'm in town with Ben and if she sees my ute, she'll know something is up. I need someone to go to town to file a building permit for Jaz and I need someone to move my ute off of Wilgul and I need to find this ring or I'm going to ruin Ben's proposal." said Stevie.
"So Ben is finally going to propose! That's great. I have no idea what took him so-"Jodi was interrupted.
"Jodi, we can chat later. This is urgent! Is Tess with you? I need you to both come in one car so the other one can take my ute away from Wilgul and into town. Jaz will be finishing her video session soon and will catch me." said Stevie.
"Okay, okay. I'll come, but Tess was out at Skinny Jim's this morning. I'll call and see if she's got service where she is now. She should be headed back. By the way, I have many questions about this."
Jodi hung up the phone and smiled. She was thrilled Ben was finally going to propose, but couldn't wait to hear how Stevie got herself into this mess.
She turned to her mom "Mom. I need to help Stevie find a ring and move her car from Wilgul and file a building permit request at the Gungellan town hall so Ben can finally propose to Jaz. I know. I don't have the details yet either. Can you mind the girls and let Matt and Terry know I'll be back later? I need to go find Tess."
"Of course! How I've missed the antics of Drovers Run..." said Meg.
Jodi dialed Tess's number and hoped she'd get enough reception where she was to get the call.
