Chapter 34

Ben had gone back to the jewelry shop in a bit of a panic. He gave his estimate on the ring size from Stevie;s finger and they told him they would go just above that. They also said they would be happy to resize the ring if it didn't fit her correctly. Ben hardly cared. It felt like this ring didn't even matter while Jaz's National Championship ring was missing. He had to get the National Championship Ring back for Jaz, but Stevie was right. It made no sense for him to drive the three and a half hours to Wilgul and then try to drive back out to Spencer. He would wait and pick up his engagement ring, but he would spend the whole night searching for the championship ring if he had to.

He called Stevie.

"Hey. Do you have any updates? Did you find it?"

"No luck on the ring yet. Jaz thinks you found your wallet, but that I'm searching for a missing contact lens. Jodi and Claire are with me. It's the darndest thing. We have retraced my steps twenty-five times and there is just nothing. I'm sorry, Ben." said Stevie.

Ben realized he would need more than just the naked eye to find the ring. It might have been pushed under the soil at this point.

He pulled his ute into the Bunnings car park and went in.

"Hi. Do you sell metal detectors?" The sales clerk nodded "Great. Where are they?" asked Ben.

Ben bought a top of the line metal detector. He hoped he would be able to find the ring with this, even in the middle of the night. Ben knew that ring represented the highest of personal accomplishments Jaz had achieved. It represented her passion and hardwork. It represented the time they were apart while Ben quietly pined for his beautiful Olympian. It represented her clearing her name within the equestrian world. It represented so much to Jaz. He wouldn't stop looking for that ring until he found it.
