The Underground Chapter Eight
I came out of the bath with wet hair having disregarded Edward's request. I feared he'd get angry with me. "It's my concern," he said. He couldn't be angry at my worrying for him. But he might be when my scent permeates the air in the room. I stepped out in the t-shirt I wore when he abducted me and a pair of cotton underwear, having nothing else. The second I did, he hissed loudly. My breath stopped in my throat as his head snapped to me.
He flew closer and closer to me as I was closing my eyes, then I felt the wall against my back. He bit into me and I opened my eyes only to close them again, sinking into the soft wind currents of peace being taken by him made me feel.
I woke up lying on the bed on my stomach, feeling pressed against it like I was 100 pounds heavier. I remember him saying "Was this what you wanted? I wanted it too." but that was all. I glanced at the room. I couldn't see him or hear him, so he must be working on the building.
So he's lonely too... I smiled to myself. Finally, I'm no longer alone.
The right side of the bed sank. "Are you awake?" He asked, putting a hand on my back.
"Yeah," I sighed, and forced myself to move my head. "Morning," I said with a weak smile. He moved like a ghost but rather it scaring me, it made me feel safe.
"Good morning." He said, stroking my hair. "I brought you breakfast,"
"'Thanks," I said and pushed myself up against the headboard. "How's it going?" I asked as I drank the orange juice with his help.
"Almost done. The place should be ready to furnish by the end of the week."
"That's so great,"
"I'm thinking of hiring a decorator to help us with that. I'll make sure it's safe," He said before I could worry about that.
I smiled. "Okay,"
"I'll see you later,"
"Go on then," I watched his shirtless-self walk out of the room. Hmm... good stuff.
I didn't feel much better after breakfast but I pushed myself to go to the bathroom and brush my teeth then lied back in bed. It was worth being bitten again though.
Meanwhile, in Forks, Charlie organized a search party and invited everyone he knew to help him search the forest including Billy Black.
"...I see. I'll round up a few guys from here to help. We'll find her Charlie." Billy said.
"What's going on?" Jacob asked. Billy wheeled himself around to face him.
"That was Charlie. He asked me to find people to help him look for Bella. She's gone missing and so has one of the Cullens."
"Bella's missing?" Jacob almost yelled. The next second he ran out of the house, Billy calling his name, and jumped into the rabbit to join the search. Billy picked up the phone again and called Sam Uley.
"Sam it's Billy. A human is missing, I think they broke the treaty. Jacob went to look-He doesn't believe the story and-"
"I'll bring the others with me. Don't worry about him, I'll find him."
"Thanks..."
Most of the parents and their children, including Mike, Eric, Tyler, and Angela joined Charlie and half of the police force in the search. They combed the forest for the last two days and nights, wearing fluorescent vests and bearing flashlights. The Cullens were there too, Carlisle promising to search at night as well. Charlie thanked him and decided not to bring up his responsibility to the hospital.
When darkness fell, Alice stopped running and screamed: "It's the wolves-they're coming!" They huddled together, their backs to each other, looking in all directions for the nine feet tall wolves.
"They're here." Jasper nearly growled. For the first time in a long time, Alice felt fear. Never has her ability failed her and right now she was counting on it to protect her family. The large paws of the wolves pounded the ground loudly, sounding like war drums. Paul growled and Sam ordered him to maintain control. Sam growled a question to the Cullens.
"What did he say?" Emmett asked loudly.
"It doesn't matter. They're obviously here for a fight!" Jasper snapped.
"Carlisle," Esme said worriedly.
"Hold it! Sam, I can guess why you're here but allow us to explain what happened." Sam huffed and disappeared for a second, then reappeared in his human form.
"One of you is missing," Sam said. The Cullens tensed up.
"Yes..." Carlisle started. "But it wasn't planned. My son, he...forgot himself for a moment but I know he understands it's wrong and regrets it." The wolves snarled at that.
"I'm not asking that you give him a chance or believe us, but I don't want us to fight, not tonight or any other night. We're already looking for him, and when we find him...we'll do whatever it takes to bring Bella back. Human." He added.
"And I'm supposed to take your word for it?" Sam said.
"The rest of us haven't broken the treaty, not even Emmett, Rosalie or Jasper who struggle the most with the thirst," Carlisle answered.
"But your rogue son did."
"Sam please-" Carlisle hung his head. "I'm a father. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from when I say I want him to live or at least be killed by someone who would be doing it out of love."
"Reuniting her with her family isn't our only incentive," Esme started. "There's a law we must obey, enforced by vampires much older than us. If the humans find out we exist, they will execute us." The wolves looked at each other.
"First thing, first. Bringing Bella back alive takes priority. We can cover more ground if we work together, but we'll leave his punishment to you." One of the wolves protested.
"You have my word no one will attempt to harm your son." Sam ordered. The Cullens sighed in relief.
"Thank you, thank you so much Sam." Carlisle offered his hand. After a moment, Sam stepped closer and shook it.
"Your welcome into my home anytime," Carlisle told him.
"I'll take you up on it. I want to know more about the other vampires." Sam said. Carlisle nodded.
"Thank you," Esme echoed. Jasper, Alice, Rosalie, and Emmett nodded to them and the two groups stepped away from each cautiously before turning and running in opposite directions. Alice glanced over her shoulder wondering why her vision had cut it so close this time.
Despite feeling dizzy I still took care of other things. I ordered dishes, cutlery, clothes, and groceries online for me and him. When the day was over, Edward came back upstairs.
"You must be hungry and tired," I joked. He smirked.
"Indeed."
"I got it all done," I said, giving him a checked off list. "Now we just have to wait for them to be delivered."
"And I found someone who can help us with the decorating, plus a contractor. I want to use the high ceiling in the ground level and add a platform."
"Cool," He wrapped an arm around me and I snuggled up against him. I felt him lower his head to sniff me but he turned away from me and satisfied himself by stroking my hair.

I've been awol, I know, I've had many doctor's appointments since the last installment and have started the medicine prescribed to me. It made me feel depressed so I was trying to find the motivation and the ability to write. Thankfully I was able to complete this easy enough. I really hope you've all been doing okay since last I saw you.
So what have you always wanted to have happened to the twilight saga characters in a fanfic?
