Chapter 39

Ben walked into the jewelry shop at 5:30. He was hoping the jeweler had finished the ring early.

"G'Day. Any chance you've finished it?" asked Ben.

"You're in luck! I just did. Here it is." replied Maurice, the jeweler.

The jeweler pulled a small box from behind the counter and opened it. A beautiful triple sapphire platinum ring was inside. Ben felt as though he had had the wind knocked out of him. The ring was beautiful, just like Jaz.

"Yes! It's perfect. You did awesome work." said Ben.

Ben took the ring out of the box and rolled it in his hand. The jeweler was right about the basket setting. The stones were farther down and didn't have any jagged edges. The sapphires were almost as bright as Jaz's eyes. This was a ring worthy of her. Ben smiled as he examined it.

"Thank you so much for rushing this through today. I can't wait to give it to her. The basket setting is perfect! No jagged edges for my equestrian champion. Thank you for the suggestions. This is great." said Ben.

"Good luck, mate, I hope you come back here for your wedding bands." said Maurice.

Ben paid the balance for the engagement ring, left the jewelers, and climbed back in his ute. He still had a long trip to go, but he couldn't wait to get home, find the championship ring, and then give Jaz the sapphire engagement ring.
