Chapter 50

"Hey Honey! How were the doctor visits? How are our girls?" Matt asked. He was walking out of the garage where the demo car was as Jodi got out of the car with Meggie and Katie.

"Well, our girls are doing great. They are hitting all of the benchmarks they should be. They both got clean bills of health. Meggie did so well and answered all of the doctors questions herself, and Katie did a really good job with her shyness. But that is not the weirdest thing that happened today. Kate was at the clinic. The pediatrics/obstetrics clinic." said Jodi.

"Kate? But she lives in Adelaide. Why would she be there?" asked Matt.

"I know. It was very weird. I think she's pregnant. She didn't seem very happy to see me either. She wouldn't chat or answer why she was there. She did say she might be pregnant. I'm guessing maybe she was there to check or confirm," said Jodi.

"That still doesn't explain why she isn't at a clinic in Adelaide." said Matt.

"No. It doesn't. I asked her to get lunch after her appointment. I told her we would stay in town until after her appointment and she said no and that she had other things to do. I thought we were best friends. Why doesn't she want to see me?" asked Jodi, feeling hurt.

"Maybe she was nervous about the pregnancy or something." pondered Matt.

"Oh God. What if she was afraid she miscarried " Jodi started to worry as she said it.

"That would definitely cause someone to act strangely." said Matt.

"I hope that's not why she is acting so weird. I'm going to call her. She doesn't have to go through that alone. Poor Squirt." said Jodi.

"Let me know how it goes." said Matt.

Jodi dialed Kate's number but there was no answer. She left her a message.

"Squirt, I don't know what's going on. I was so happy to see you today, but I'm worried about you. Is your baby okay? Please call me back." Jodi said into the phone.
