Chapter 64

Tess had found a buyer for two hundred fifty sheep. It had been tougher than she thought to get a decent price. It was exactly as she feared. Most of the other stations in the area were selling off livestock as their water sources dried up. Their organic status helped set them apart from the masses, but Tess felt she was lucky to get the deal she did, but they didn't want delivery for three more days, which meant three more days of water for the sheep. "At least I have a deal in place," she said as she hung up the phone.

She went to find Jodi and tell her the plan. Tess knew she wouldn't be thrilled about the extra three days of water, but not much could be done about it.

"Okay, that seems ridiculous but, yes, we have a deal. We want delivery in two days to the three properties I listed before," said Jodi into the phone as Tess walked in.

Jodi hung up the phone and sighed, rubbing her temples.

"I take it the water's ordered?" Tess asked. "How much is it gonna cost us?"

"Enough. It better rain soon or we will be in serious trouble. At the prices they are charging, a lot of farms will be in serious trouble."

"Well, I found a buyer for two hundred fifty sheep. It's a decent price, but they won't accept delivery for three days, so it's a good thing you've got water coming."

"I'll give Jaz a call to let her know what her share is. At least we were able to band together here and save a little money."

Do you want me to call Stevie or are you on that? Tess asked.

"I'll call her after Jaz," said Jodi.
