Chapter 65

Later that night in the Drovers shearers' quarters, Russell closed his laptop and turned to his wife.

"Kate, I can do it," said Russell.

"What do you mean?" asked Kate.

"I can get you your look at Kinsella's"

"How?" asked Kate.

"You want an aerial view of Kinsella's? I can do it!" promised Russell.

"But how?" Kate asked again.

"So the problem with the drone that Stevie used, is that the battery dies too quickly. We have a huge amount of land to cover and it will take some time to do that. The reason the batteries die quickly is because the batteries are small. They are small because they need to be lightweight. They need to be lightweight because a drone's propeller blades can only carry so much weight. The solution is to get a drone with bigger propeller blades that can hold a heavier battery, allowing for longer battery life and longer flight," explained Russell.

"Right, but we would need to fly for many hours at a time. That would take a huge battery," said Kate.

"Yes, but what if there was a huge drone? One that could support the weight of a long lasting battery? It could stay up all day and get the footage that we want," said Russell.

"But where are you going to get such a big drone?" asked Kate.

"I've done a bit of research, and there are some options available for sale, but I'd have to get them shipped from the U.S. or Europe. Very pricey and long shipping times. By the time it arrives, we will have had our viewing appointment or close to it," said Russell.

"So that doesn't work then."

"Right, but you are forgetting one really important thing," said Russell.

"Oh, and what's that?"

"You have your very own engineer!" said Russell. "One that loves you and will do anything for you."

"Yes, and a sexy one at that, but you're not an aeronautical engineer. You can't design a giant drone like that. Can you?" inquired Kate.

"No, I can't design a giant drone like that, and I'm not an aeronautical engineer, but I do have degrees in mechanical engineering and software engineering. Plus, I was on the robotics team in Uni. I can't design a drone like that, but I can build one. I don't need to design one. I found the design plans for what we need online. It was designed by an aeronautical engineer who works for Space-X. I just have to follow them. I can do this. I can build this for you. I can get you your sneak peek of Kinsella's. I'll need a few days, and a trip to the closest town that has a Bunning's and a Best Buy as soon as possible, but, Baby, I've got this," declared Russell.
