Pine Twins
School is out and summer vacation has started along with vacation came more shifts to take at the Mystery Shack. Entering the shack I see a pair of kids with suitcases standing in front of the cash register looking around in mild amazement and shock.
I fix my sunglasses," Welcome to the Mystery Shack children!" they look at me, the boy looks like he's in a trance, "What brings you here?"
The boy tries to talk but all that comes out is gibberish.
"Hi! I'm Mabel," The girl grins and gestures to the gibbering boy, " and this is my brother Dipper."
I chuckle, " You two must be the kids the boss was talking about!" I extend my hand to her, " I'm Aurelia but if you wish you can call me Lia."
Suddenly the employee-only door bursts open revealing the one and only Stanford Pines, the man who signs my paychecks every week!
"Boss, your niece and nephew are here!" I called my boss to get his attention.
"Oh good, I've been needing more people around here!" he hands a pair of mops to the kids.
Thus the Mystery Shack gains two new occupants!
A few days have passed since the twins came. Mabel has kept going after every boy her age that enters the shack. Dipper is constantly looking around paranoid as if something were watching his every move. It amuses me watching him jump at every little weird sound.
The boss pops out of the back room with signs. He asks who wants to go to the creepy part of the forest to hang them.
The twins say, "not it," along with Soos, but nobody really asked him since he was already busy.
"Wendy, Aurelia go hang these signs!" he orders.
" I can't reach," Wendy, my cool coworker says while stretching her arms towards the signs without making an effort to get up and putting down the pitt cola magazine, " Too far."
I smile at him, "I don't want to."
He sighs, " I'd fire all of you if I could."
Wendy and I fist bump each other in success at avoiding doing work.
A couple of minutes pass after Dipper leaves to hang the signs, Mabel rushes off to who knows where like a shooting star.
"That has a nice ring to it."
After my shift finishes, I grab my bag and leave the shack to go home. Outside I see the shack's resident goat running with what seems to be a gnome stuck on a six-holed plastic wrapper. I chuckle.
"They are back at it again with their shenanigans."
I fix my sunglasses and walk home for the day.
A few days later the boss decides to do a re-opening of a wax statue museum. I was but a child on the first opening and it seems to be that they are the same cursed statues.
The boss put me in charge of guiding the customers into their seats to prepare for the big announcement. After the customers were seated the boss does his small speech then reveals a wax statue of himself made by Mabel. Pretty good work if you ask me, as creepy looking as the others.
The ceremony was going well until Shandra Jimenez, the news reporter, asked about the free pizza that we clearly weren't giving out.
"I knew I forgot something, oops."
Soon enough the customers start to riot. In the midst of the riot, the boss runs to grab the admission boxes with all the money and runs into the shack.
"That was crazy!" Wendy says as she comes up to me after the whole riot while I'm cleaning the mess.
I shrug leaning on the broomstick, "It was interesting, to say the least."
She looks at me, "Say, Lia, why do you wear sunglasses everywhere?"
I smile at her, "The light bothers my eyes, that's all."
She raises an eyebrow, "Even inside?"
I nod still smiling, "Yep."
She shrugs," Alright," she goes to grab another broom but I stop her.
"Go home, I got this," I take the broom from her.
"Really? Sweet!" she grins, "See you tomorrow!" she jogs away.
I wait for a little while to make sure no one is nearby.
"Now," I take off my sunglasses," Let's get this clean!"
Don't be afraid to leave a review, I don't bite unless ya are into that ;)
