Chapter 100
Regan pulled her car into the driveway of Killarney. It felt good to be back in this area.
Grace was excited to see Stevie, but even after so much time, she still felt a little uncomfortable being at Killarney, which had been Marcus' home.
"Hey guys! You made it!" cried Stevie as she came out of the cottage.
"Hi Stevie! I've missed you!" cried Grace as she wrapped herself around Stevie.
"It's been far too long my friend." cried Regan and joined the hug.
'How's it going Stevie?" said Dylan.
"Do you realize that when Ben and Jaz marry, we will officially be related?" said Grace "We'll be cousins!"
"Isn't that great? The McLeods and the Halls united officially!" said Regan.
"I'm just happy that Ben finally got his act together. He and Jaz are a great couple, it's about time they make it official." said Dylan.
"It also means there will be a wedding and another reason for a reunion!" added Regan.
"Well Grace, I've got a guest room all made up for you. We can bring your things there now, and Regan, Dylan, if you have time, we can all have a drink before you head over to Wilgul and catch up a bit." offered Stevie.
"Sorry Stevie, I called Jaz from town, so she should be expecting us any minute. We should go on, but we'll catch up soon." Regan gave Stevie a big hug.
"It was great to see you again, Stevie." Dylan gave her a hug and followed his wife out the door.
"Well Grace, At least we can visit and catch up,." Stevie smiled, "What can I get you to drink?"
"Whatever you're having is fine with me."
Regan and Dylan pulled up to the main house at Wilgul. Regan was still sort of in awe of all that Jaz had built there. Wilgul had been a neglected property when the sisters had taken ownership of it.
Everytime Regan visited from Canberra, something about Wilgul was different. Jaz was always adding to it, and further molding the property to fit her dream. Regan was proud of her sister for working towards her dreams, but Regan was proud of herself as well. She was achieving her own dreams. Those dreams had let her to a life of government work in Canberra,
It was in Canberra where Regan met Dylan Ashton. He was a detective in the Australian Federal Police Force. He served in the task force that enforced environmental law all over Australia, but he was based in the capital district and spent most of his time there. They had worked a case together, stopped an illegal mine, and fallen in love along the way. They had been married for the last six years.
"You're here! My sister is here!" called Jaz, as Dylan pulled the car up to the Wilgul main house. Ben came out of the house holding Kelly.
"Look Kelly! Your Auntie Regan and your Uncle Dylan are here," Ben said to his daughter.
"Oh my God! She has gotten so big since the last time we were here." Regan took Kelly from Ben and looked into her niece's face. "Kelly, you are just going to have to stop growing when I'm not here."
"I love You Aunt Wegan," was the only response Kelly provided.
There were hugs all around as the family reunited.
"Okay Jaz, let's see it! Let us see the ring this bloke finally gave you," said Regan.
Jaz held up her left hand and beamed to her sister. "He did a great job. I love the sapphires."
Regan smiled back at her sister. "It's perfect! I'm so happy for you both!"
"It's about damn time, mate." Dylan shook Ben's hand. "I thought I was going to have to have a little talk with you during this visit about my sister-in-law and locking it down officially. This ones a catch you know." Dylan pointed to Jaz as he said it. "When you find a great woman who also happens to be strong and stunning, mate, you want to get a ring on it. Women like the McLeod sisters, they don't come around very often." Dylan gestured to his own wife. "I only needed a couple months to know the power a McLeod woman has over me. I didn't want to risk losing Regan. I proposed only four months after I met her," explained Dylan.
"I know Dill, you love to tell that story. I know McLeod women are once in a lifetime. I just wasn't sure that I was worthy of marrying Jaz, not that she wasn't worth it. I mean look at her. There isn't a more beautiful woman on Earth. I still have no idea why she's willing to marry me, but I'm damn sure happy about it," answered Ben.
"We'll have to disagree about who the most beautiful woman is, but I think we can agree, Ben, we are very lucky men," said Dylan.
"Let's all have a drink with the spectacular McLeod sisters inside. Here Regan, you take Kelly, I'll help Dylan with your bags." said Ben.
