Chapter 12: Strenuous Resistance

(Colby's POV)

"He's finally comin' to, y'all!"

Ugh! That's the first thing I heard after I finally regained consciousness. I opened my eyes and the bright lights blinded me for a brief moment before my eyesight came back. I saw that I was in the Medical Lounge of our precinct, surrounded by a few of my fellow officers. Debbie's country voice alerted them all prior to my awakening and I was just baffled by it all. Zaituchi was among them and he was standing closest to me as I stayed laying down on my back within the comfortable memory foam bed.

"Good to have you back, Colby." He started proudly. "We heard from the Nagasaki police that you were more of a beast back there, but according to an eyewitness in the mall, you were actually very calm around Kunimitsu II."

"That part I remember so well, but what happened to the criminals?" I replied as I sat up, but still stayed in bed.

"You ate them alive, but allowed one to stay on his feet and get arrested for his crimes. Back to that wolf, though: Why was he in such a mutated state?"

"It's the curse of the New Moon. Without any moonlight, the Midnight Wolf feels like he's free to do whatever he pleases and transforms into an extremely vicious werewolf to unleash that fury." This made all of the officers nod in understanding.

"I see… and ironically, this was just your first mission. You've been given one more assignment and it's from one of Kunimitsu's clients this time. A much more peaceful setting, that's for sure." That was a relief to hear, but speaking of her… "And in case you're wondering where Kuni is, she's waiting for you in your office. She didn't hurt you, like you wanted her to and she's already announced to us that she's already proud of you for what you've accomplished so far when it comes to taming this wolf." She is?!

"…whoa. I never harmed her?"

"You shoved her outta your way a couple times, but never gave her any physical harm, honeybun." Debbie replied sweetly. "Find that hard ta believe, huh?"

"Yeah." I finally got my energy back and was able to get out of bed and readjust my vest as if nothing happened. "Hey! I just remembered the… no way! I didn't! Are you sure I never harmed Kunimitsu II?"

"Positive!" All of the officers replied with smiles that were from ear to ear. They already knew what I just remembered and were all confident about it before Randy added his two cents from the back of the room: "And she said it was the sweetest thing you've ever done to her as the wolf, even while you were a monstrous beast!"

I was just speechless and flabbergasted by all of this. I had to talk to her before our next mission and my hasty trip to my office signified that towards my co-workers.

(Kunimitsu II's POV)

I overheard the amazement in Colby's handsome voice from the medical wing of the precinct before he rushed into this office with a look in his incredible eyes that said he was so skeptical about it all. As soon as he approached his desk with his palms slamming down upon it, I remained calm and never flinched as he started the conversation with the question I expected:

"Did I really hug you while I was still in my New Moon Wolf Mutation?"

"With all the love within your very soul." I replied sweetly, making my cute voice sound serene to him. He slightly smiled as a sign of that factor, but he still was 80 percent perplexed by it all by the way he shook his head while bowing it at the same time. "Your fur felt so soft and luxurious and your muscles were so protective and firm… I couldn't let go of you… at least, not for the next ten minutes."

"Was that when I passed out?"

"Yes. I felt your body getting heavy and I decided to gently settle you down on the floor until our back-up came with a stretcher and escorted you out. I was right next to you the whole time and even the appreciative applause from the surviving bystanders never steered my sight away from you. Still, it was very pleasant to hear and it made me feel proud of what you've accomplished so far."

"That's it! Right there!" He's so sexy when he's confused. "Why do you keep saying that you're proud of my accomplishments? You saw what happened to me before we entered the mall. I was turning into a ferocious monster right before your very eyes and you even backed away from me with fear. At that point, I… I felt like I was gonna hurt you."

"But you didn't, Colby." I finally stood up from his chair, went around the right side of his desk, and approached him with my fingerless gloved hands slowly stroking his broad shoulders until they were wrapped around his strong neck, looking as deeply into his eyes as I humanly could. He felt the compassion from that gesture and never struggled to wrap his soft, but strong hands around my love handles. "It's like what Deborah said: You shoved me out of your way a couple of times, but never harmed me. When we had the criminal cornered, that's when you became curious about my wakizashi blade by sniffing it like a bloodhound. It's like the wolf wanted to take in the very essence of my presence as an extra precaution for any future endeavors. So, yes. Believe it or not, I'm proud of you for everything you've done thus far in terms of trying to tame this beast."

"…" Tee, hee! I already mentioned that he was sexy when he's confused, but even more so when he dives deep into his thoughts in total silence. I can even feel my inner kitsune surrender in such a way as well. I just couldn't look away from his regal look of his brainstorming state, not staring at anything in particular for the next three minutes before he restored his eye contact with me and nodded once with acceptance before he said with reluctance: "…okay. I get it now. I guess that's as good of a start as any, huh?"

"It's better than nothing. Besides, during that embrace, I heard something within you that may seem like a red flag to most doctors: I heard two separate heartbeats." That made him slightly jump with astonishment, but never moved from our current position.

"That's new. I never really pay attention to that. It was like I had two separate hearts, right?"

"Exactly. One was beating much faster than the other. That would explain why you passed out after that fateful hug we shared. Despite all that power and muscle, your human soul couldn't handle such a phenomenon."

"Obviously! Who's heart was beating faster?"

"The wolf's. It sounded heavier and seemed like it was working overtime to keep your blood flowing. Your heart rate was normal."

"…wow. I'm learning more and more about this wolf inside of me every passing day. Thanks for telling me all of this, Cutie-Kuni. I… needed to hear it and I appreciate ya." We then shared a steamy passionate kiss that made our primal instincts take over for a brief moment by means of having our hands make their way to our butts simultaneously, having Colby's hold upon mine seem a bit more desperate. A full minute later, we slowly parted with my hands holding on to his back underneath his vest this time while his hands stayed down there. "Truly, I do."

"I can feel that within your hands." He chuckled at that sarcastic and seductive remark from me. "You're ready for more of me, aren't you?"

"Guilty as charged, but I just have one more question before our next mission…"

"Shoot."

"When you said that you heard the wolf's heartbeat and mine separately, does that mean that, even though we share the same body, we're still not quite in sync with one another?"

"Yes, exactly. You said it best: You've adopted him as your pet, but he's not housebroken yet. Think of it that way."

"Already did and excellent analogy. I'll keep that in mind."

(Colby's POV)

I finally understood everything that happened earlier today, thanks to Cutie-Kuni and my fellow officers, especially after Kuni kept telling me that she was proud of me so far. It all made perfect sense and I was ready to really give this New Moon variation of the Midnight Wolf one more test today by means of our second and final mission of the day.

Since my boss never called us out for that mission yet, we both still had some alone time together and I couldn't help it. Holding on to that tight ass of hers wasn't cutting it. I had to give it a massage and, at the very second I started the opposite circular motions down there, she immediately sang out a beautiful moan that was just orgasmic to my ears as she held me closer to her with her fingernails desperately scratching my back with ecstasy. Even her warm breath upon my bare chest made this moment feel much better, especially when I looked down at her with just my eyes. Damn, she looks so fucking cute! Even the wolf loved what he was seeing and wagged his massive fluffy tail behind me. This time, I allowed him to continue for as long as this steamy moment lasted, even after Kuni wrapped a leg around me in order to try to feel how ready I was against her. It was barely to no avail, but she never stopped due to her desperation.

Safe to say that our next round will be on her terms and hers alone. I shall obey everything she says…

…unless she says otherwise.

Five slow minutes later…

"Are you both alright now?" Zaituchi asked us with humor as Kunimitsu and I took our separate seats before him as usual. He… knew what we were up to in my office and clearly saw it in our eyes while we were trying so hard to shake it out of our heads for optimum clarity.

"Yeah, we're… we're good." I replied breathlessly for a moment before we were completely relaxed now. "I swear: She wears those shorts on purpose."

"Because I know you love them." Kunimitsu replied with honesty. I blushed upon that statement and Zaituchi chuckled as he folded his arms upon his desk. "And I know you'll love it even better when I take them off later on."

"Easy, you two. We gotta focus." We did just that immediately, having me leaned back in my chair in total chill mode. I didn't look at her, but I can tell Kuni II was aroused by it. My wolf sniffed out her arousal for me and I chuckled in my head as my boss continued. "Now, Kunimitsu, your next client has an interesting case and, for once, no fighting will be involved. I currently have him on hold for you." After that last word, he clicked on that hold button on his speaker phone between us three on his desk and, again, before the client even spoke…

"Good afternoon, Mr. Unachi." Kunimitsu greeted sweetly, which stunned all of us in the precinct for a moment before the others all over the building continued on their own businesses. "How's your animal shelter doing since I brought back a few stolen beagles a few years back?"

"Fantastic, thanks!" Replied a cheerful male voice that sounded like he was well into his golden 50s. "How's your Mother?"

"She's hanging in there, but overall, she's fine. What's your situation, Daisu?" Cool name: Daisu Unachi. Sounds like a business man.

"We've just adopted out a huge number of dogs, but here's the mission: Another shelter has been shut down due to a negligent owner, who has been apprehended already for animal cruelty. We just need you to help bring in those abandoned pups into my no-kill shelter and I guarantee that they'll be taken care of professionally by my staff with over 3 decades of experience. Of course, you cannot do this mission alone. Do you have some assistance?"

"Yes, sir. I have my boyfriend, Colby Johannsson, with me and two other officers to help with the rescue." Kuni said that second part with pride in her cute voice and it made me feel good about myself as I allowed her to continue. "Something tells me that you won't tell me how many dogs I have to rescue this time."

"I'm leaving it a mystery until you get here. I'm actually at the abandoned shelter right now with two other co-workers who are willing to help. I'm sure just bringing one other officer and your boyfriend will suffice."

"That'll be better. Zaituchi, who do you suggest I should bring along with us?"

"Debbie, of course! She's a sucker for puppies!" Zaituchi replied almost instantly and that humble Southern officer even got between us with a smile that reflected that latter statement.

"I sho' am!" She agreed happily. "They beagle pups, right?" Kuni nodded. "Well, I'm gonna be there for 'em as well, honeybun. Count on it! In fact, I'll drive the rescue truck while y'all lead da way."

"Excellent plan!" Daisu agreed from the phone. "And hurry up, will ya? These dogs are getting excited here."

"On our way, sir." Kunimitsu II said calmly.

Several minutes of a fast gallop in my normal Midnight Wolf later…

I turned back into my human self as an extra precaution by the time we got to the bottom of the shelter steps right after Kuni II dismounted off of me with Debbie and the truck just parking in the lot behind us. We waited for her to approach us and she shook her head with humor on the way.

"Don't wanna become a puppy yo'self when ya encounter 'em, eh, Colby-honey?" She quoted with her usual Southern charm, making us both smile with her. I blushed as I scratched the back of my head underneath my mohawk ponytail.

"It's a definite possibility that it might happen, so I'm in my human form just in case." I replied with honesty. "Anyway, let's get this rescue over with."

Another few minutes later…

"Ah, you all made it!" Daisu greeted to us with a single set of handshakes for each one of us. He was a pretty well-dressed Japanese man in a fancy suit for someone in a rowdy shelter full of pups. "Deborah and Colby, I presume?"

"Yes, siree!" Debbie replied. "We here and at your service. I've got the rescue truck outside and ready ta go."

"Excellent! Kunimitsu, we've got all of the puppies gathered peacefully in the surprising clean backyard of this filthy facility for their safety. All we have to do is gather them up in all those carrying crates here." We all looked over towards where he was pointing and we all grew wide eyed at the number of them. "As you can see, I've counted 200 puppies and that's how many crates we have. All six of us will have to work together to bring them all in. Colby, I heard that you turn into a creature called the Midnight Wolf. Will you be friendly to these little pups?"

"…I only hope so, sir." I replied bravely.

"I have total faith in you, son. Anyway, let's get to it."

That's when Mr. Daisu Unachi led us out to that backyard and there were all 200 of those adorable beagle puppies just running around and playing with each other while his other two employees: An American Caucasian male blonde and a female Japanese woman, were supervising them. As soon as I stepped out between Debbie and Cutie-Kuni, that's when all of the pups stopped what they were doing and started sniffing me out. This made the ladies giggle, especially my precious fox on my right since one puppy tried to hard to sniff my ankles, only to make the wolf's tail pop out and wag like crazy. This made the two ladies beside me back away with caution for a moment and Daisu chuckled at this display before he said this like a proud father:

"Well, well, well… looks like you are friendly. Looks they wanna play with ya."

"…Can I?" I smiled from ear to ear when I asked this question. This was the wolf asking as well. Seeing this made Kunimitsu smile as well.

"It'll help us gather 'em up as they tire out. How big are you as the wolf?"

"12 feet tall from the withers down to my paws."

"Big enough." He then stepped aside and so did his assistants simultaneously. "Go on out there, transform, and get to it. We'll be right here ready to get 'em outta here." Oh, boy…

Kunimitsu's gonna get a sexual thrill out of this. I just know it.

(Kunimitsu II's POV)

Colby-chan didn't waste a moment obeying Mr. Unachi as he walked out as far into the open field as possible with those beagle pups following him like he was the Pied Piper and, by the time he turned into the normal Midnight Wolf for the second time today now since the New Moon revelation, every single one of these 10 month old puppies barked up a storm with happiness and all Colby did was sit there like a good boy as usual, just to allow the others, except Debbie, to take in his appearance for the first time. I felt his human soul from here. He was ecstatic to see this joyful reaction from the puppies, but dared not to speak and allow the wolf to take the wheel for once. He made a gentle booming bark of his own before he got into the playful position and he started running all around the field with the pups following him, having some of them try so hard to leap up for a ride on his back or to just nip at his tail.

Awww! So adorable this scene! It's just what he needs to keep this wolf tamed.

"Huh!" The female assistant of Mr. Unachi exclaimed in a tender female voice. "And I thought this wolf was supposed to be dangerous."

"Not with Colby-chan inside of him." I protested calmly. "On its own, the Midnight Wolf is indeed a rogue and a lone wolf that's supposed to prey upon extremely evil human souls at the stroke of midnight to help cleanse the Earth. Now that Colby's somehow obtained it, it's due to still do its function, but on his terms from now on. See him in this state is actually another big accomplishment for him and I'm still so proud of him."

"Aw, that's so sweet. You two make a lovely couple. Anyway, boss, are we ready to round 'em up?"

"…give it five more minutes." Daisu replied breathlessly with joy. The rest of us did the same as we all just watched this 12 foot tall timber wolf play with these tiny pups as if he was at their size himself.

After those said amount of minutes…

We all managed to gather up 185 of these beagles as they were all getting tired from playing with Colby. They even had a bowl of water in each of their crates to cool them off as well. 15 pups remained as they were all just all over Colby as he was now in the 'lying at the Master's feet' position allowed them to do as they please, even having one of them play a little game of tug of war with one of his pointed ears. Another two minutes of this scene went by before Debbie and the male assistant of Mr. Unashi managed to gather up five pups each before heading inside for collection. Five pups remained now and Daisu volunteered to gently pick up four of them, leaving the ear nibbler last for a bit longer. This was my pup to pick up later, but first thing's first:

"Colby, are you okay?" I asked him in my most tender tone of my deepened cute voice. Fortunately, the pup didn't hear his telepathy as he only focused it on my mind only while he replied with:

Yeah. I'm good! These pups needed this interaction if they're gonna be adopted soon.

"And you sure do need it for this wolf to be completely housebroken. This pup's not bothering you, is he?"

Not in the slightest. Heh, heh. This actually tickles!

"I see. C'mon, little fella. Time for you to go now." I carefully picked up the little guy and he never complained as I stood up with him in my arms like a mother carrying her human baby. He even gave my face a few loving 'kisses' upon my face, smothering my left cheek in his drool. Colby stood his four paws before me before he sat down once more and slightly nudged the pup with his wet black nose. This made him release a happy squealing bark before he nuzzled his tiny head as gently as he could for his huge head. He then slowly raised a massive paw and the pup's tiny ones clawed at them without harm for a quick ten seconds before Mr. Unashi came out of the building with a smile of success. "Here's the last one, Daisu."

"You can keep him in your arms on the way back." He commanded with no worries. I nodded in response. "Safe to say that this mission was indeed a success, just like before. How's Colby?"

"He's fine. He said he had an amazing time with the puppies today. He hasn't been this playful since he was a little boy."

"Aww, I'm so glad to hear that. Now, as soon as we get back to my shelter and settle all of these pups in, you'll get your payment… unless you want to adopt this puppy here as your payment instead."

"Thanks, but no thanks. Colby's all I need." He walked up to me on my left side upon that last statement and sat down like an obedient dog once more, further proving my point. "I'd rather have the money."

"Consider it done, my dear."

(Colby's POV)

It didn't take too long after we got back to the Daisu's shelter for the pups to immediately get settled in and continued to be free in a much bigger backyard. I remained in my wolf form, but this time, I was back in my New Moon form. Turns out that, during the trip back, Kunimitsu explained to me the wolf himself can turn into his normal wolf or the New Moon one at his own free will to see which one would be necessary. He just wanted to be in this form as a test around other dogs and, so far, I stood next to her in my slightly hunched over position without a hint of hunger in my muzzle nor my eyes. She even had a slender fingerless gloved hand resting casually on one of my extremely muscular arms to show the others behind us that we were truly meant to be together. Daisu was the most astonished to see this as he approached her opposite left side with her payment in the form of a check in his hand.

"…whoa." He muttered with amazement as he aimlessly gave Cutie-Kuni her 10,000 yen check. She never gave him eye contact as he continued. "This is the New Moon form, eh?"

"The one and only." She replied for me. I've already just recently learned that while I'm in this form, the wolf is in charge of me 80 percent of the time. "You should've seen him earlier. He was a beast out for blood during a dangerous crime spree within a mall. Now with these puppies all over the place here, he's much more docile."

"I see. You don't think he'll harm them at all in this state, do you?"

"Not in the slightest. In fact, do you have a ball I can use?" Huh? Where… where in the hell is she going with this? Daisu nodded twice before he pulled out a tennis ball that was twice as big as your typical one and she slipped her check in her left hoodie pocket before taking the ball and showing it to me. "I wanna try something, Colby. Hope you don't mind."

"…" Damn! I couldn't say a word, but my tail was wagging up a storm, ready for her to throw the ball. I couldn't believe how excited I was. And to top it all off, she sounded like she had a hint of seduction in her adorable voice. After ten seconds of teasing me, she finally threw it and, like all of these pups in the yard before us, I made a single happy booming bark before I made a mad dash for it on all fours, despite my bipedal appearance.

I called it earlier: She's… getting a sexual thrill outta this. She is SO ready!

(Kunimitsu II's POV)

He's such a good boy. After I threw that big tennis ball, that monstrous wolf didn't waste a millisecond going after it like a well-trained dog. He then brought it back like he should in a typical game of fetch and I became horny almost instantly. He gave it his best effort to sit like a quadrupedal creature for someone standing on two feet and he looked even sexier when he's in brainstorming mode as a human. I reluctantly took the ball out of his massive muzzle and tossed it once more, making him go after it with even more excitement than before. I couldn't help but giggle at this and Daisu chuckled along with me as he saw this humorous display for a few seconds before Colby returned once more. This time, he really signified that he's had enough by turning back into his human self after I took the ball and he dusted off his vest with a hint of fatigue.

"Had fun, Colby?" Daisu asked with humor.

"Plenty of it." Colby replied with his usual sly wit that I've already grown fond of. "Can't believe that animal psychology works on me. What exactly was that test for, Kuni?"

"My enjoyment." I replied with no remorse. Hearing this in that deeper tone of my cute voice made both me jump back with astonishment, having Colby-chan approach me seconds later and take the ball from me before embracing me in his strong arms. I, of course, had to return the favor with my arms around his neck as usual. "I knew it would work and I loved it. It is keeping your wolf in check along the way as well."

"Heh, heh! Sly as the fox you are as always. Safe to say that this day of resistance was a success."

"It'll be an even bigger success when you call JT back for a second chance. I won't interfere, either. Take as long as you need." It was a promise easier said that done at my current state, but I was willing to keep it regardless. Colby saw that in my grey eyes and scoffed with skepticism.

"Are you sure? Especially after you just said that you made me play fetch 'for your enjoyment'? You look so horny right now." He never saw it, but I quietly pulled out my kodachi blade and my arms were back around him with that blade in view from his right side and he never cowered. He showed his most handsome smirk I've ever seen from him since we first met and I suppressed a moan as I spoke:

"Don't question my intentions, Colby-chan. Despite my status as the daughter of a legendary kunoichi, my patience is stronger than your muscles. You want this friendship with JT to remain alive and so do I. So, take… as long… as you need! I shall not resist my sexual temptations! You have my word." This scene made the staff behind us become fully observant and Mr. Unashi crossed his arms with confidence. Colby nodded twice in agreement before we slowly engaged in another passionate kiss that was delicious to me as usual and for once, only my hands made the trek back down to his derriere. He remained modest for his own sake. He took in that grab with finesse and never protested after our minute-long kiss was over. "I swear it."

"If you say so." Colby reluctantly agreed, despite my current grip upon him. "Don't speak unless you're spoken to, then."

"Done and done. I'll be getting ready at my Vermilion Gates home to also speak to my Mother about this mission. Good luck, Colby-chan."

"Thanks, Cutie-Kuni." We then embraced each other in the sweetest manner possible and it just felt so good to be in his arms. At this rate, my kitsune and his wolf were finally best friends.

Don't know about them being lovers, like we are…
