Chapter 101

Kate made it through another day without puking. She was really hoping she was on the backside of the worst of it at least.

They had loaded all two hundred fifty sheep with over an hour to spare. The buyer had sent their truck to Drovers in advance, so once it was all loaded, they just had their driver take them away.

"Well girls, that was fun, what's next?"

"Look at Squirt, back to being Squirt," said Jodi with a smile

"When you've done nothing but vomit for a week, and you finally stop, You feel like you're on top of the world!"

"You seem a lot better. It looked pretty rough. You were making me rethink if I wanted to be a mother." said Claire.

"You're contemplating motherhood?" asked a very surprised Tess. "You're way too young!"

"Mom." Claire rolled her eyes. "I didn't mean now, I meant someday in the future. I think I'd like to be a mom someday. But like, at least ten years from now."

"Yes, that would be wonderful. I'd like to be a nana in ten to twenty years. I think the job would suit me very well." Tess smiled at her daughter.

"I always wanted to be a mother, I just didn't know if we would ever get the chance, I'll put up with daily vomiting every hour if I had to. This pregnancy was a long time coming for Russell and I. I honestly feel like I'm on cloud nine." said Kate.

"Yes, your spirit has been up, especially since Dave left. What did he say to you anyway?" asked Jodi.

"He apologized for being so short with me yesterday. He said he thought about the whole thing and while I really did break his heart and cause him great pain, if I hadn't, he would never have gotten to meet Julia or had his sons. He said he was totally in love with his wife, and since I helped make that happen, he thanked me for being honest that day. He said he would like to try to be friends again eventually. Obviously things won't be like they were before when I loved him from a distance, but we always did really well as friends. I think we can get to a comfortable place for both of us." said Kate.

"That's great, Squirt. I was scared he was professing his love for you and offering to leave his wife if you'd leave Russell to be together. I thought we were going to need a new vet, because it's pretty obvious you'd never leave Russell." said Jodi

"I admit, I was worried he might say he still had feelings for me, but apparently his subconscious was just trying to get a little payback for the heartbreak I caused him. He just needed a little time to process the situation and he realized he was being an ass. His word, not mine," said Kate.

"I'm glad it's settled and we can just hopefully enjoy the rest of this day." said Jodi

"We still have some fun things to see today. Matt and Terry should be finished painting the demo car, and we get to see how good an engineer Russell is with a potential drone flight," added Tess

"I can assure you, Russell is an excellent engineer. He was first in class in mechanical engineering at Southern Cross University and he was top five in his software engineering graduate program at U of Adelaide. He is the brains in this relationship, not me. I know what you're all thinking ladies, how did someone so smart also get such good looks. Well the truth is, I'm basically married to Ironman, smart and sexy. If only he was a billionaire too," joked Kate.

"Okay Kate. Let's make a bet. If that drone flies on it's first try, on the first test flight, I'll call Russell Ironman from now on. It will become his new country boy name," joked Jodi.

"I'll take that bet too." laughed Claire

"Okay, I'm in too." agreed Tess

"I hope it flie,s because Russell would absolutely love having everyone call him Ironman. He would be so excited. He loves Marvel comics, especially the Avengers. I'm more of a DC girl myself, but yeah. I'll take that bet. I believe in Russell, and because I have such faith in my husband, if it doesn't fly, I will make a special dinner with my Nonna's sauce for the whole Drovers gang any night you choose while I'm in town."

"You're on." said the girls and they all shook on it.

"Now let's get lunch. I'm craving some chips and chocolate," said Kate
