Dear Hermione,
I was pleased to receive your gift with the note telling me to "open upon receipt". I thought the muggles liked to open presents on Christmas Day? Father was surprised when (what we later found out was) a partridge and a pear tree Unshrunk themselves in the Drawing Room. After attempting every spell we know to get rid of it, Father admitted he may have been wrong about Muggleborns.
Mother decided the bird had grown on her and started training it to become her postal bird. Her attempts have been unsuccessful so far, but the bird has developed an annoying habit of… defecating whenever someone enters the room. Did you realise that when you put an Anti-Vanishing charm on the bird, it would also affect our attempts to clean up after it?
