Street swallowed and moved his fingers on the cold frosted glass in his hand. He knew he could lie, be defensive and laugh it off, but he also knew that if Tan was asking, he had probably already figured out that he did. As time began to tick by, Tan waited patiently for his response. Finally, he nodded slightly letting out a,

"Yeah," as a sad whisper.

Tan swallowed silently, as he processed the answer, he was both expecting and dreading. "Wow, okay, this is huge!"

"No, look, I mean, I wouldn't act on it and ruin anything for her," Street said glancing up, "but I guess, I always thought deep down inside, that one day we would find each other in the right moment, and it would just happen, you know, but now," he paused. "Well now I think that's just a pipe dream and I need to seriously get over it."

"Does she know?" Tan asked slowly eyeing him.

"No," he blurted. "Well, maybe she has kinda worked it out, but I mean she hasn't exactly said anything to me, and I haven't actually told her either. So yeah, that's what it is like right now."

"Man, I," Tan stuttered, shaking his head, and staring at his beer. "I wish I could give you a fix for this, but, jeez, complicated situation and she is, well like I said before. 'One complicated woman with many levels.'"

"I know," Street added quietly.

"Hey, I really feel for you, and you know I'm here. If you need to talk or whatever. I love you both like family. I want you both to be okay, and, well you are clearly not."

"I'll get there, just in a rough patch I guess." He said trying to convince himself. He and Tan talked for a bit longer before Street knew he should head home and let Tan get back to Bonnie.

"Look, please don't say anything, I, I probably shouldn't have told you. I just,"

"Hey, my lips are sealed. You needed to unload that off your chest. You know I will keep out of it." Tan explained as they made their way out.

"Thanks." Street nodded as he headed off to his bike and back home.

Walking in the door, to the empty quiet house he tossed his things aside and sank onto the sofa. He was now worrying about Tan knowing all of that, as well as thinking about what Chris was up to with Jared. He hated that he was jealous of her happy.

Back across town, Chris and Jared had stopped by her place. The ride there was pretty quiet, he held her hand and drove as she rested her eyes. All she wanted was a hot shower and time to unwind. Jared knew she was both mentally and physically exhausted after today, so he had suggested they get takeout, and chill out at her place for some alone, quiet time.

As she closed the bathroom door, and stood under the shower, she felt the weight of today's events hit her hard. For starters, the mission had been tiring and mentally draining. Then as she thought about how Molly was clearly hurt, and Street, well he was just so fucking clueless that it angered her. Honestly, how on earth, could he not understand what she and Molly both felt.

She let the warm water soak her dark hair as she tilted her head back and inhaled slowly. She knew now wasn't the time to be all wound up. She had precious time with Jared actually here and she wanted to just let go of that drama and enjoy it. She began to wash and hurry along as she didn't want to keep him waiting.

Jared sat on the sofa, watching her TV while he waited for her to shower. He pondered the events of the day and couldn't help but feel a little nosy about what exactly had happened when Chris spoke with Molly and Street. He knew he could ask and trusted that she would be honest with her answer, but at the same time he didn't want to spend the night prying and ruin their time together. So, he pushed those thoughts away, as he leant forward and picked up the takeout menus that he had noticed stashed in the magazine rack of the coffee table.

A few minutes later she wandered out in her sweatpants and a t shirt, drying her hair. Jared grinned seeing her.

"Hey," he smiled softly, "feel better?" He asked, as he thought about how beautiful she was.

"Yeah, it really does." She smiled. Hanging the towel over a chair and moving towards him. "I'm sorry about all of this right now. God, I wish I could push a reset button." She muttered as she lowered herself down onto the sofa, her arm up near his shoulder and her body angled towards him.

"I know, it's okay." He answered placing his hand on her closest knee. "Life is just a crap load of shitty at times but let's just enjoy these next few days while I am here."

"Yeah," that made her smile. "I love that we are together," she said as she leant into him resting her head on his shoulder. He lent his cheek down onto her head as she closed her eyes and smiled.

"So, what do you feel like eating?" He asked.

"Um, I dunno, what do you want?"

"I'll have whatever you want, you've had quiet the day."

"Oh, come on," She giggled sitting up off him. "Why are you always so gentlemanly? Be selfish for a change and pick for us." She added with a teasing tone, scrunching her nose, and squinting a little at him.

"Oh ok? Like that huh?" He laughed. "Well, I could really go for Chinese."

She laughed and locked eyes with him as she moved to straddle him, kissing him slowly and deeply. He returned the kiss passionately, eventually drawing back breathless.

"Wow, what was that for?"

"You're really here." She laughed. "I just don't wanna miss a second, waist a moment."

"Mmmmm," he moaned pulling her close and kissing her again. "Me either."

Chris felt the warm rush fly up through her body as she pulled her lips from his. Her flushed cheeks and the way she dropped her eyes from his, chewing her lip made her realise she was letting herself get carried away. The slight whimper from his lips and the way he leaned with her, trying to keep her there made her realise that he probably had felt that desire too.

She sat up from him and drew in a sharp deep breath, before leaning back in slightly to rest her forehead on his. She kept her gaze down and tried to slow her racing heartbeat, as she felt his heavy deep breathing too.

"You're mean," he whispered in a teasing tone.

"What?" She giggled back with a whisper.

"I was enjoying that, and you know it." She smiled and nudged her nose into his, making him lift his eyes to her.

"I was too, but..." She chewed her lip and again dropped her eyes.

"But?" He asked examining her, as she hid her gaze from him, "But what?" He lowered his head to find her eyes. She gave in and looked back at him as he frowned at her questioningly. The concern on his face made her begin to smile.

"But I am, we," she fought to find her words with his amazing eyes scanning her. "We should order some food," she added, thinking she had defused that heated moment and she went to push up to move off him.

"Hey, Chris, babe." His arms tightened slowly around her. "What's wrong? Did I go too…" Chris sighed realising now she had made him think he was at fault for something. She lowered herself back to him and dragged her eyes up.

"No, Jared." She interrupted him holding up her hand. "I um, I was getting carried away and I don't wanna rush this." She managed feeling her cheeks flush bright red. As she looked at him with an apologetic face, she saw his mouth turn into an almost mischievous smile.

"What?" She laughed.

"You have no idea, do you?" He laughed dancing his eyes with hers.

"No idea about what?" She answered with a chuckle. He lifted his hand to the side of her face and bought her forehead back to his.

"Chris," he said slowly. "I probably should have said this sooner, but I didn't want to freak you out, and well, you've had so much going on that..."

"I don't wanna deal with that drama tonight, I want this." She whispered over him.

"Which is why," he laughed continuing. "Why I need to tell you that," he traced her jawline with his thumbs and bought her face closer. "I love you." He whispered.

Chris felt her heart explode; the biggest smile began to spread on her face. She looked deep into his eyes and knew how much he meant every part of that.

"Jared," she whispered leaning even closer, her lips almost on his. "I love you too."
