Chapter 124
Kate was having a blast hanging by the dessert table eating her fill. Russell was having a blast just hanging out with his wife.
"Oh man. These lamingtons are so good. I might just hang out here for the rest of the night. I can't have a beer, but I can eat my face off!" said Kate happily.
"Are you sure you don't want a burger or a snag? I just want you to have some protein, Baby." said Russell.
"Nope, I'm happy here at the dessert table."
"Hey Kate, Russell, how's it going?" Dave said as he walked over with a beautiful blonde woman. "I thought I'd introduce you to my wife. This is Julia."
Kate's mouth was full of lamington. She put her hand in front of her mouth and started chewing faster.
"Hey, it's great to meet you, Julia, I'm Russell Kaits. This is my wife, Kate Manfredi."
Kate finished chewing and swallowed.
"Sorry," Kate pointed at her mouth, "Lamington. I'm Kate. It's great to meet you. Also, try the lamingtons, they're delicious. I wonder who brought them. They might be the best lamingtons I've ever had" said Kate. "Don't tell Meg, but these are even better than hers."
"Thanks. I actually brought them, and I'd be happy to pass along the recipe." Julia replied.
"Yes please! I've been having terrible morning sickness, and I found sweets and junkfood are the only things that help me." said Kate.
"I had the same experience with Tommy, I couldn't touch any vegetables, Freddy not so much. With Freddy, he liked carrots with hummus and capsicum and onion pizza all the time."
"I've got twins, so I've got the double shot at once." said Kate
"Oooh, I've heard that can be worse." said Julia
"Well I don't have any experience for comparison, but I can say it hasn't been the most fun," admitted Kate.
Dave watched his wife interact with Kate and he realized he could handle friendly conversation with Kate and Russell. He hadn't forgotten the pain he had felt, but he didn't feel it any longer when he looked at Kate, he just felt fortunate that both of them had found such great partners in life.
